The 2023 is better looking than last year's model, but the reverse cylinder has always looked odd to me. Plus it creates problems with the width, the airbox, etc. I understand the theory behind mass centralization--especially rotational mass--but I've never heard anyone claim it handles so much better than the traditional layout. Still seems gimmicky.
@@ahsnap9103 You know who also made a reverse cylinder, Cannondale. I don't have anything against Yamahas--I have several. That doesn't mean it's not a gimmick.
@@vintagetrikesandquads4012 yea Cannondale did reverse cylinder too. The positives outweigh the negatives with better weight distribution and centralization, better intake angle. Love the way he says Yamaha listened to all the things they didn’t like….yeah because they didn’t listen to all the pro riders and race teams they have all around the world not to mention all the other testers around the world🙄🙄 Funnily enough USA MX testers aren’t the b all end all they think they are😂😂😂😂
I still ride a 2018 yz 450 and you got to know how to set it up, so you have to put a yamalink on the rear first to get rid of that stinkbug attitude then you have to raise the forks 7mm use race tech gold valves for the shock and forks use titanium motor mounts and run a 14/53 final drive and then you have a bike that will turn like a Suzuki with straight line stability and you can run around the track all day in 3rd gear. With. the negligible weight savings, I am afraid you now are going to see Yamahas breaking down like a KTM. They should have just went with a chromoly steel frame and cut probably 10 to 12 lbs instead of weakening the engine and tranny. Thats about the only thing I would say that's good about a KTM is the steel frame
Star racing? The conspirancy against the deegans at lorettas..this just proves it...the kid shoulda taken that bike just to prove they were runnin a pro engine.
am I the only one who thinks that all motocross brands are starting to look exactly the same, they almost have exactly the same shapes on the plastic, honda, ktm, husqvaran, gasgas, and now yamaha
I’m gonna have to gripe about this version. Lost 5 pounds still no hydro clutch . What was it, 3 yrs ago where y’all said only serious bikes have electric start and hydro clutch but now it seems yamaha doesn’t want hydro. I get to spend another 400 to make it hydro? Why not just get the gas gas, ktm or husky. Change my mind!!
Many riders including Tomac prefer cable clutch. I prefer it also. Hydro is maybe a plus for you but not for everyone... But hey, if you are a big fun of the hydro you can buy a ktm or kawi etc. All bikes are good nowadays
@@andreasstefanou5898 it’s not for me but when the benchmark is 225 pounds, electric start hydro clutch, there’s gonna come a time where not having it will be a detriment- ask Suzuki about that

To prevent getting tangled up with other riders when you go down . Long front fenders cause a lot of issues in those circumstances.
@@herbcanter2114 Yes of course. Good idea from ČZ125-250-500 1983 model year.
Why is the shift lever turned down so low? Was some squid riding it? I'm sure Josh would not have it like that.
Meraviglia
Too much on the new parts. Two thirds of the video are Josh stating stuff we can read about. What was the ride impression - "I had a lot of fun on this bike." Seriously bro, that's all you can say about it?! C'mon man. Thanks for answering the questions no one is asking.
I don’t really care for the hidden tank cap and the little seat piece plus the plastic above the gas cap looks weird
wow..grazi
The 2023 is better looking than last year's model, but the reverse cylinder has always looked odd to me. Plus it creates problems with the width, the airbox, etc. I understand the theory behind mass centralization--especially rotational mass--but I've never heard anyone claim it handles so much better than the traditional layout. Still seems gimmicky.
Seems gimmicky Hahaha
proven championship level bike hated by some squid Hahaha
@@ahsnap9103 Yeah, Tomac also won championships on Kawi and Honda, moron, with no reverse cylinder.
@@vintagetrikesandquads4012 quit whining
@@ahsnap9103 You know who also made a reverse cylinder, Cannondale. I don't have anything against Yamahas--I have several. That doesn't mean it's not a gimmick.
@@vintagetrikesandquads4012 yea Cannondale did reverse cylinder too.
The positives outweigh the negatives with better weight distribution and centralization, better intake angle.
You sounded like a one brand hate everything else guy.
I like good bikes more than just one brand is what I'm saying and the reverse cylinder yz's keep getting better.
Love the way he says Yamaha listened to all the things they didn’t like….yeah because they didn’t listen to all the pro riders and race teams they have all around the world not to mention all the other testers around the world🙄🙄 Funnily enough USA MX testers aren’t the b all end all they think they are😂😂😂😂
He can't wait to get back and judge the bike against all his ktm favorites
If euro bikes are so good why aren't they winning everything?
😍
Kaplan will still say a cr 500 is faster! Lol
PW50 For big kids💯
am I the only one who thinks that all motocross brands are starting to look exactly the same, they almost have exactly the same shapes on the plastic, honda, ktm, husqvaran, gasgas, and now yamaha
all new engine lol , funny how come it still has the same bore and stroke as MY 22 21 and so on and same compresion ratio........
Allot of mistakes where made in the past (incompetence?). I am sure that next year new things will change. DO IT RIGHT ALLREADY !
@@andreasstefanou5898 it’s not for me but when the benchmark is 225 pounds, electric start hydro clutch, there’s gonna come a time where not having it will be a detriment- ask Suzuki about that
@@MRmwr2452 the new ktm weighs 229 lbs
@@MRmwr2452 who said the benchmark is hydro??
The only universal thing that everybody wants is double coil spring forks and ktm doesn't have it
Front end looks ugly like 85 on a 450 lol
@C.Nash I should in todays society I feel offended by it
Superbike
GUYS I WANT TO BUY A DIRT BIKE BUT THESE NO MONEY
I value mxa testing over all other's but please MXA stop with the FKN music
It's pronounced kairo Georgia.
Yamaha says we’ve had 25yrs to design this new bike, motocross community says, haven’t we seen this bike at Walmart
Crap music.
Looks like a monkey did the welding🙉
He is expided to explain man.
Ots ugly, hate the front and back fenders
This bike will kick the shit out of the KTM and both of them know it.
No you ride the bike.... this is dumb
Get a different presenter. The video is supposed to be about the improvements and the flaws, not about how it compares to a KTM. I had expectations for MXA on this but deeply disappointed
