- Our own testing guru Kris Keefer was invited out to the GOAT Farm in Georgia last week to get a first look at the new 2023 Yamaha YZ450F. Keefer, fellow tester Dallas Dunn, and former 125 Supercross champion Travis Preston break down everything about the new machine from the feeling of the chassis and engine to the improved rider triangle and much more.

Keefer does such a great job on these videos. Keep ‘em coming
I agree, top of the food chain
Really enjoyed seeing Keefer & Dallas ride a new track while testing 👏
For sure! -Ohio
Just got a 23 450 and this was very informative!
Gotta stay Keefer does an awesome job. He's put in a lot of work to make his business so successful.
57 Horsepower. Let that sink in. Typically, dirt goes by the rule of three. Say you've got an old XR that puts out 20ish HP. The pucker factor would be like riding a 60hp street bike. Now take these new 450's. 57 HP, on the DIRT, is insane. Just flat out bananas. It's just like a litre bike for the dirt. To really get the most out of it, you gotta be Tomac level of good.
I'm not John McGuiness, doesn't stop me from trying to get everything I can out of my Fireblade.
This bad boy is my next purchase.
I've ordered one ..like I've done with every new gen yzf ( 2010,11,14,18 ) but I keep going back to my 09 yz450f .. let's see if this can change my mind .
Awesome! Let us know how ya like it…
What’s your take on yz450f vs kx450?
This was a good video. You guys were pretty funny at the end.
Keefer and Dallas great video. Something that I think would be helpful for future videos would be to give the year of the bike you're referencing. And maybe any mods on that bike. Dallas talked about his Honda, but we (or at least I) don't know if he rides an '08, '12, '19, '21, or '22. Which I think all of those were groups of significant changes. Thanks again!
Thanks for the detailed review! The 2022 YZ450FX is a great machine and the maps can tune it to where you need it to be. I am sure the 2023 is better in a few ways but the 2022 with the FMF full TI exhaust and GYTR airbox is amazing. Even using the loamy map it's far above anything else stock from the 2022/23 lineup...
Enjoyed Keefers breakdwn & explanation overall. Def lookin at new '23 Yamaha or possibly GasGas/KTM ? 👍🏻Great job ! -Ohio
Make it a Yammie! 😉
Keefer is a damn impressive rider, looks so comfortable on the bike and good style.
Imma get a used 2020 and put the cylinder works 270 kit on it and take it to Twisted.
Great info. Although it’s Hard to make sense of all the references to other bikes when most ppl don’t get to ride every manufacturer. Unless you have a lot of friends who all ride different bikes
Yeah Dallas!
Detailed with some good perspectives: Thanks Keefer and crew
So the YZ450 is a front steer bike? I thought historically it’s been a rear steer bike and was hard to turn.
This bike or a KX450 SR? I can get both for the same price, looking for some feedback here 🙏
That’s gotta be the most famous water truck on the planet lol
98 sag with 5 mil on the forks is crazy. Interested to hear more on where that set up goes.
Is there a bike that comes with a good seat/seatcover ? Seems to be crap on most bikes, weird that they always cheap out on that and the grips. The things you really feel on the bike.
What is the actual weight of a bike?
Are your right back there!
we need footage of when Keefer over jumped the double.
I got you! Only I'm more outta' shape and wasn't able to save that sucker the last moto...
I 2nd that @Street11
I wonder how much of eli tomacs thoughts/ideas are put into this bike
probably not as much as ud think. im sure alot of these ideas were put into place way before this year when he shined on the bike. these things take years to develop
@@aauht He did say he rode it before re-signing lol, but you're right about its development
@@aauht 3+ years development .
Front end looks like a PW50 but the bike is bad ass regardless
lmao true statement
Haha you ain't wrong
Exactly my first impression. But, that’s a good thing. I like that combo! 👍🏻
When are customers taking delivery of this model?
December
December if you special order one at 50% over MSRP
@@aaahockey25 😂😂😂
I just rode a Honda 450 over the weekend and man so do they vibrate! The Kawasaki and Yamaha don’t vibrate nothing like it..
Try a husky or gas gas vibration is crazy
Geeez let him finish answering your questions Keef , always interrupting .
Keefer, are you 170lbs with or without gear on?
170 without gear
@@Keeferinctesting thank you!
That little front fender is growing on me….
I personally really don't like the 'soft' curvy looks of the new plastics. The general shape of the bike is great but it just reminds me of an 05-06 4 stroke, the way its styled.
So basically buy a KTM. If you’re gonna compare it to a KTM on each comparison. Why not buy the standard as to what all other bikes are made ?
What the fuck does Villipoto do at Yamaha?
This dude with the beanie on needs to not be in the video. He's mumbling like the water boy under his breath and it's freaking me out. Sounds like Milton from office space.
Considering he's usually behind the camera, I thought he did a good job. It was nice to get a different perspective too.
NEVER TAKE YOUR BIKE TO RED HILLS POWERSPORTS IN TALLAHASSEE! EVER!! Caught the “manager” telling the mechanic to lie as he stood behind me! Straight crooked!!
Someone clearly laid that bike down
My bad! 😀
