Funny everyone complaining about the front fender and plate when its possibly the only dirt bike front end I've ever liked and didn't think grossly threw off the visual balance of the bike; there's a bike that finally looks balanced front-to-back. I've always thought front fenders overlong, and they could annoyingly flop around (especially when caked with dirt) and I just didnt really see the point (or now, the appeal) of them being so long when they're functionally no better (if not worse) and they look worse.
Absolutely love my 2022 YZ450F but this new bike is going to be a real force, especially for Supercross. And of course, Yamaha power and reliability. If Eli gets excited when asked about the bike, that’s a good sign. 😊
@@mxriderdakar You can setup a lot of things on a dirtbike that changes the balance. Front forks height, steering clamp front/back, rear wheel front/back. So why not the pegs?
Excellent review! This is the best review to date on this new Yamaha bike. Thanks for putting up the map screen @ 12:30. You always do a great job on these tests.
My only real 2 complaint on all these bikes are they are becoming expensive and that they should do like stark future, selling them with the good rider spring rate.
If they took the 2009 YZF and gave it the same treatment Kawasaki gave their KX450 you'd have a clear market leader. Other brands are getting huge power with standard cylinder layout, so I don't get why they persist with the one thing that deters and annoys people the most.
So what you're saying is that now I have to buy a 2023? I am just now getting use to my 2018! Oh well hopefully I will get a good trade-in for my 2018, its only got 30 hrs on it. It still has that new car smell.🤣
Just purchased 23 ME edition of 450f and when I first cranked it the header pipe got extremely hot changing color to almost glowing red very quick. I rode it for about 5 minutes just barely 1/8 throttle and let it cool. Second time same thing the first section got extremely hot again. Within about a minute or two, Should I be Concerned or is this common with a brand new racer? Any thoughts
I love everything I'm seeing except the front fender and front number plate. Do they have the same bolt pattern/location as the 2021? If I can put my '21 front plastics on one of these like I did with my early 2010's Honda's I'm sold
You won’t be able to use older number plates on this bike. The front brake cable is supported by the number plate. The front brake cable is now routed behind the plate for a cleaner look. There is no threaded hole on the lower triple clamp for the old style cable guide to bolt on.
good review, can't wait till you get some time on it in different track conditions to give more feedback, its an improvement over last year's bike even if its only the weight and being slimmer at the shrouds
@@vitalmx dang, should I just wait and buy then??? Wanting to buy a 250fx. I have been torn between the 250fx and the crf250rx….. Maybe I should just go with the rx, thoughts?
Sounds like a real good improvement. I recall couple years ago when they updated the front axle it made the steering character more neutral, rather than the rear steer that it had been. With the agility character is it getting even more feeling on the front end?
Dude, 5mm is nothing. It's 1/5th of an inch. Do you honestly think ANYONE other than a top pro could tell the difference? That's the difference of a summer sock vs a winter sock. Come on, how much did Yamaha pay you
@@mattrhoton1235 I think he will be unstoppable on this new bike , he's going to destroy the entire field . As good as he was in 2022, that 2022 YZ450's weight and lack of nimbleness held him back .
Kinda defeats the purpose. Personally like the induction noise mine has. I refer to it as sowing air. When it's up in the revs and your bang'n gears, it's very satisfying. It may not make any more power, but it sounds bitch'n.
I always say that if you want to hear an honest review about a bike in a shootout, wait a year until next years bike comes out. Once next years bike comes you guys actually open up about what was bad about the previous bike and mention all of the bad things about it. All of the negative things youre saying here about last years bike you didnt mention at all in last years review. It comes across that you only feel comfortable talking about the negatives once its all in the past and the mfg’s cant get mad at you. It makes me wonder whats bad about this bike that isnt being said… guess Ill just have to wait till next year to find out lol.
The real thing is when you have a new bike, they compare it to the old one, so the comments are usually positive. They can’t know yet the issues like clutch, timing chaine, spokes etc untill some month of testing. They have no choice of talking of every new product on the market because you don’t want to be the last one to review an old bike, when the factory edition bikes are coming out for exemple.
I guess it's better than the last guy that pulled the shootout down and changed the results all the while making no sense/correlational to an unchanged bike from the previous year.
I thought someone else was riding in the clip. Since I moved to TX, I changed my diet to mostly meat and vegetables and easily dropped like 15lb(never have been overweight though) while still eating full. Enjoying your superb analysis.
That's why Honda won the SX and MX championship last year right ? Eli is going to obliterate the entire field on this bike . It's vastly superior in every way to the old bike and he dominated most of the year on a bike that was heavy and not near as nimble .

The amount of Yamahas I see at the track is insane, about 50% + of all bikes being rode are Yamahas nowadays
Brazil is like this too, Yamaha predominating

All manufacturers should offer adjustable foot pegs like Kawi. I don't understand why they don't.
