Hello everyone!
Today, we're diving back into Factorio. In this first part we're beating the game by playing up to the stage of launching our first rocket. On the way we're creating a main bus, a mall and all the science packs needed to get there. Hope you enjoy!:)
Factorio is a game about building and creating automated factories to produce items of increasing complexity, within an infinite 2D world. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.

Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories. You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. In the beginning you will find yourself chopping trees, mining ores and crafting mechanical arms and transport belts by hand, but in short time you can become an industrial powerhouse, with huge solar fields, oil refining and cracking, manufacture and deployment of construction and logistic robots, all for your resource needs. However this heavy exploitation of the planet's resources does not sit nicely with the locals, so you will have to be prepared to defend yourself and your machine empire.
Join forces with other players in cooperative Multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends. Add mods to increase your enjoyment, from small tweak and helper mods to complete game overhauls, Factorio's ground-up Modding support has allowed content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features. While the core gameplay is in the form of the freeplay scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of Scenarios. If you don't find any maps or scenarios you enjoy, you can create your own with the in-game Map Editor, place down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way you like, and even add your own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

I started a new megabse series that goes into more details, step by step. Here's the link to the first episode: ruclips.net/video/V55WifVguKk/видео.html
He explained in 18 minutes what I figured out on my own in 21 hours
Edit: He built something that would've taken me about 150 hours and called it a starter base
It took about a day for me to figure it out because of a YTuber, that I can't name here, and literally watched his playthrough all the way through. I also found another YTuber through him that covered Factorio all the way through 1.0. I own the game and played through it twice before 1.0.
👍😉
in 24 minutes he explained what I found (kinda) myself in 33 hours
The episode lasts an hour but i'm pretty sure all of the stuff he built in this episode took much longer than that to complete. lol
What did he explain
Normal playthroughs 'beat the game' in like 100 episodes. And you just do it in 1.
Really looking forward to your megabase!
Looking forward to that too!;)
Fun fact WR for launching rocket is sub 1 hour :)
@@natsoph1924 where? fastest any% run is 1h25m

I’m so stoked to have more factorio by Nathan in my life.
Awesome!
Nice 😍😍😍😍
Hello everyone! This video was long in the making over the past few weeks as a little side project. I greatly appreciate everyone who supports the content to help the video reach a wider audience! In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy it:)
with your brain it haddabe seablock
@@AlexanderBukh That would be interesting.
I always wanted to see u play this game and i also want to start a tutorial series of this game . There is another interesting sandbox game u can try out, Jurassic world evolution
So did you use the upgrade module's ?
There is a mod that makes night slightly brighter it's called "afraid of the dark" and
It's very good for RUclips viewing doesn't affect gameplay
Love the speed at which you move and love how you say your thought process out loud. Helps me understand my indecisiveness and improve that. This is the hardest part of the game for me. City blocks and train support comes easy for me.
Good to hear, good luck with your game!;)
Adding productivity modules to the rocket silo will save you massive amounts of materials. So excited for this series!
Indeed. Feeding it without already having 4 prod 3s in is like heresy, to some... because it really does make a big difference. :)
I'm on team prod top down. Mining production carries the other end. Just build more till the trains are full
I bought this game to have fun, I'm now even more confused than I already was :(
Forget fun. Pure addiction is the only way to go
Hehe
Forget about food, family, friends and work. The factory is your nr.1 priority
@@yvindfinne9507 no.. i must eat... i must sleep.... ok ill get off in another hour
Nathan’s back with another beautifully crafted series!! I’d probably watch you play any game!! Keep up the entertainment man!!
So glad I found this video & channel, really look forward to the next Factorio episode, building a mega base is the most fun part for me in the game. Have a sub
Thanks so much for the sub!;)
Hi Nathan! I really like how neat your bus base is. Ironically I was about to jump for modular base right away but the bus base you made hooked me! I've been playing for about 300 hours (still considered as late rookie) and I learned a lot from this video. So thanks!
That's good to hear, hope you keep enjoying the game!;)
Fantastic episode! Haven't had an hour fly by like that for a while. Thanks Nathan =)
Oh, boy! Good ol' Factorio again. As much as I love the Oxygen not included series, I'm a big fan of this as well. Looking forward to this series now, no matter how long it takes to release a new video, as I know how time consuming such a long episode, as edited as your videos are, will take to make
Will certainly take some time, but I'm hooked again to the game, so good time;)
I've been experimenting with the game (as a newbie) for a couple hours and manged to learn more on 11 minutes than 4 hours of playtime. Thank you so much for this!
Same!
I enjoy how much effort you put into making videos for this channel. I havent been here in years since I got hooked watching you make something on Cities Skylines. Your voice a familiar friend and watched this intently.
Really appreciate you cam back for a visit;)
I picked factorio quite recently and had been having fun with it, didn't play more than a few hours, trying to optimize and automate the base as much as I could and now looking at the first 12 minutes makes me wanna play it even more. I will hold off on watching this any longer as I found where I could improve the design more and learnt the nifty trick to balance which was the main pain that I was stuggling with. Will be back after I progress further, but man those clean transport lines were so pleasing to see.
Nice, hope you'll have plenty of fun with the game!;)
Thank you i just started this game and I love how you make us build stuff along the way and not showing us so we can learn and actually be good at the game
Glad you see it this way! Have fun with the game;)
This video is the first of yours I’ve seen. Already subbed and addicted 😂
Thank you so much;)
This was such a powerful title, and it drew me in. First time watching you! you're great! Subscribed!
Thanks, really appreciated.
Nathan! Excellent game to stream! Looking forward to it!
👍
I really enjoyed this and I love the neat layout.
Glad you did!;)
Thank you sooooo much I just started and I wanted a main bus but no other tutorials had one
Glad to see factorio making a return
Good;)
New to your channel and I loved this video, idk if you have seen Songs of Syx, but honestly I think that is a game you would love too seeing how much you loved the drones in factorio, would love seeing you play a series on that
Thanks for the suggestion, I wrote it down and will check it out some time;)
Awesome playthrough ! Thanx for sharing !
My pleasure!
The base looks like a freakin circuit board. Epic. :)
the fact that i havent pressed forward once on this 1 hour vid is amazing i am genuinely having fun watching you play this game
Great to hear you had a good time watching:)
@@Nathans-Sandbox you deserve my sub man
Thanks so much, really appreciated! Good timing with the new series I launched yesterday.
@@Nathans-Sandbox ok i will watch that to :)
Wow this is awesome brooo
I just like te way you talk man! Don't get me wrong, it just makes me feel like i am playing/deciding what to do together with you :)
Hehe that is good!;)
God, you made that look so easy. Great vid. Hope there's more👍
There will be;)
All the pain and difficulty parts are on the editing room floor. ;)
👍
making it look easy! I really like the video. Nice explanations and generally pretty cool video. :)
Glad you liked it, thanks;)
@@Nathans-Sandbox I'm at part 7 in the playlist right now. I really like the series and what you did with the base. :D
Amazing basen ! You are a genious !
Glad you like it!
I am using your video as a guide. It's unbelievably helpful. Ty so much 😊
Glad it helps;)
Awright was waiting for u to do this, after skylines not included hahah, keep it up sir and thank you for entertaining
My pleasure, great game;)
The absolute POWER MOVE of "Episode 1: Beating the Game" is hilarious
I find it humorous that the whole point of a first episode is to beat the game. But to be fair a megabase usually takes a starter base. Took me maybe 40 hours to lunch a rocket and most of the dead time was me just being overwhelmed what to do next
The video was amazing I really like your editing style
A tip about copper cables they take up more space than copper plates so when possible try to directly insert it into another factory that will use it XD
Great first episode when episode 2 come out
Next one should be ready tomorrow, it's about planning the mega base and setting up the ground structure.
Loved it!
Great!
Will there be a episode 2 anytime soon? Loving the series so far!
Yes, but you can imagine it takes a while. Especially now that I cannot play. Haven't been able to play games a single minute this week. Wife is away for a week.
@@Nathans-Sandbox oh yeah definitely, sorry if I came off a bit inpatient. Just desperate for the next episode. Thanks for replying.
I wasn't offended or anything, just replied with my excuse why it takes a while. ;)
Doest expecting you to play factorio but we welcome it
Good:)

Did you have a stroke?
@@oldkid820 Isn't(Doesn't means does(do not)not, isn't means is not). Expecting you to play factorio and(but is a means of saying something else is more correct
Despite having a steady linear path (science tree wise), the skill cap for this game is very high. You make that very apparent.
It is deeper than one would think yes;)
New series hyyyypeeee!
👍
so thats why you have been playing it in the background in cities skylines^^
edit: damn, thats really a megabase, that thing is huge
I don't want to know how many hours this single video took ;P
So do you usually not setup fluid storage tanks? Great video!
Instead of using filter inserters transfer a particular item from one belt to another. You can use splitters and set a filter. So you don't need power.
True, would have been faster there probably!
what a title for episode 1!
I just got this game about 2 months ago, after watching this video my mindset has changed to "If you think it's big enough, make it bigger".
This is so good!
👍
Thats interesting. Really factorio and very own designs. Nice
👍
36:03 39:43 It seems that you forgot the other half of the green circuit production line.
Your factory is totally mission-oriented, and labs doing research never stop. Nice work!
👍
this video was made a year ago, and yet he still comments to recent comments. what a chad
Of course, the video age doesn't matter, I'm happy with wherever people take the time to write something;)
I like this format of 1 hour episoide, waiting for next episoide
👍
OMG I LOVE IT!!!
👍
Damnnnn!! Its so satisfying to watch this. The dude just automated factorio
👍☺
Great video ... due to you, I found out that I can enter the train ... I used to walk ... you saved a LOT time :D Thanks
Oh no
😉
Hallo Nathan :)
Factorio ist eins meiner liebsten spiele (600+ Stunden) und ich bin so Froh das du Factoryo gameplay hochlädst
The factory has to grow!;)
Of course ;)
Great work! Clearly some time went into editing that. Out of curiosity, is there a particular reason you used 4 chests/inserters per cargo train instead of the full 6?
Cheers! 4 chests and inserters can handle the entire 45 items per belt. 6 would just be an overkill. Of course anything buffered in the chests would go in the cargo faster but then the production will lag behind.
Awesome idea about feeding the burner Mining drills into each other💡 at five minutes I noticed you putting your science packs into the laboratories each individually. Personally I like to put a chest at the beginning and then and then an inserter. I put them between my labs so the science packs get transferred automatically.
12:00 what was your reasoning for building over the copper deposit?
The shape of the factory was more important to me than the deposit.
This is like a compilation of things I looked back on and thought I should've done that but I'll just keep doing it my inefficient way
My Life needed thia serie
😂
Young Werner Herzog narrating a factorio vid. Love it
@41:25... missing a chest in the iron ore mine. Great video, though!
Loving it
👍😘
This is insane! No idea what this game is and just watched it straight through from the beginning lol
It's very good video for that. I playing factorio a lot, but never seen anyone made video with clean factory and fast editing!
👍😉
I have been watching this video in 1 min intervals for the last week as I learn to play Factorio. Thanks mate
Hehe fun journey to learn the game;)
@20:48, u can use loaders to transfer science between labs, so you only need to feed 1 lab with belts of science, and then a loader inbetween each will just feed it into the end most lab.
excellent start
Cheers!
New series? LETS GO!
👍
I love it! How many hours did it take you to make this?
I didn't get that far in the video, but the time elapsed playing is on the pop-up when the rocket leaves.
Oh, he cut that.
The playtime was around 25 hours at the rocket launch, I didn't exactly hurry up, rather re-learn the game and redesign things over, wanted to be prepared in case I wanna do a normal paced LP.
@@Nathans-Sandbox I played 25 hours, I can only build a car...
Well I think you deserved my like as soon as I saw your video in my inbox
Thank you!
Remember that "no capes!" thing? Oh well, this guy is "NO BUFFERS!"
STRATOGUHL
👍
Sir you're very smart. When I play this game, I always end up using all the material, even in the tutorial mode and still struggle to build massive structure setup like you cause in the end the resource would all gone and I don't know how to continue from that.
Like how I always use up all the metal for ammo.
Once you switch to trains and can tap into multiple veins it becomes less of a struggle.
as someone that just got the game, I wasn't quite expecting you to literally beat the game in 1 episode under 1 hour lol XD
It was more like 40 hours;) Check out my latest Factorio series, it's step by step to megabase, there you will learn more about the game;)
will definitively check it out thanks
I love factorio and oxygen not included, and now we have both series. I am in love!
😘
I have watched enough of your videos now. Its time to subscribe.
Hehe thanks!
bro singlehandedly improved my knowledge of this game 10 times over within the first 20 minutes
Awesome;)
Remember that belt immunity equipment always consumes 100kW, even when you don't stand on belts. That means that you need 4 solar panels to power that alone.
late to the party on this series lol. glad i stumbled on it though. i just started playing this game and its far more complex than something like satisfactory or even oxygen not included. I thought i was a small brain before watching this and now i feel like i have a really small brain lol. you make automation games look so simple. and yet i cant wrap my brain around what youre doing half the time lol. hopefully ill pick up a thing or two from watching. i enjoy your videos a lot, especially your stuff on oxygen not included. i learned a lot about that game from watching your videos so hopefully ill some about this game from watching these.
This video is a crazy cut from about 40 hours of gameplay. If you're really interested in learning the game (I can recommend), my newest series on it is a step by step to megabase project going into much more detail;)
Wait you do Factorio as well? I guess I know what I am doing after your ONI 2.0 series!!
😉
I playing Factorio a lot, but never seen anyone's video with clean factory and fast editing! You are insaen man. Love watching you play!
Appreciate it!:)
Watching this before i start my idon'tevenknowanymoreTh run, i hope i can finally finish this game after i'm done. xD
Thank you Nathan!
Question: will you do any more walkthroughs for Factorio? I have gone through the game twice all the way but not after 1.0
My current series is a walkthrough, started a few weeks ago.
20:00 The last piercing mag assembler isn’t working because the long inserter has no belt
👍
So sad that most if not all my favorite game on your channel have so little view.
Also realize this part 1 is 1 hour long lol. I'm I the only one watch it from start to end? Even when I don't even watch my own video from start to end like I usually do to your channel.
I could listen to this guy talk all day about anything
I wish you were one of my students!😂
omg, Nathan playing factorio! Hyyyype!!!!!
😁
i love how you play! very organised.
👍
You make the chaos seem logical and apparent
😉
This is great
😁
Bro for me you are the best ❤️
😘
😂 Literally the first minute in and I learned something new! I did not know you could place a furnace directly next to a miner...... I'm so bad at this game!
Hehe it does take a while to learn all the tricks in this game. I also learned a lot dzring the series;)
Great stuff... would love it if you could share some of your blueprints!
I might have added some later in the series. But I don't think many.
Ooo Factorio! Oh Yeah!
😉
He protecc
He attacc
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY
He make factory grow
Hm a Factorio series from about 18 months ago that isn't using the established default structures like combined ore-coal smelting columns and the normal 3 to 2 Green Circuits array. Also the 4x4 balancers has one additional Splitter in the middle.
I guess Nathan is fairly new Factorio player - at September 2021.
I wonder how many hours of gameplay was spent for this episode :O
Not me having 300 hours in this game, and still not being able to make a structured base like this, and always end up with a spaghetti + automation machines everywhere
you just helped me realize how much copper and iron plates I really need haha😂😂😂
he literally beat the game in one episode… i’ve never even played this game but this is insane
Try the demo, it's free on steam. It's honestly one of the coolest games I've ever played.
👍
great video
Cheers:)
