It's funny how your way of starting to build is completely different from my own. You've gone for full automation strait away. I normally use the mini-miners to collect rescources without using power, instead I build storage containers and spend all my power on smelters and constructors to make far more items than fully automated can. This lets you rush the low level research very quickly.
I have to say, I really appreciate the tutorial-esque nature of this episode. It's in depth enough to get a good understanding of what you need to do but doesn't lose itself in details! Great job!
Also have to agree. Even though i already know everything about the game i didn't feel the need to skip parts of the video. Also i really like the lack of forced/bad humor that a lot of other satisfactory dudes incorporate into their videos.
Todo list for this episode: To Do List [] Power Gathering [] Hub Setup [] Mining Operations [] Explore [] Biomass Power [] Reach Target Throughput [] Tier 1 Milestones
18:37 you don’t have to actually sever the line. If you grab a power pole from your hot key, aim it at the line connecting two poles, you can then drag and drop a second power pole, giving you 2 more connections.
52:34 you dont always have to enter the percentage for underclocking. you can also edit the target production rate field to set it to required amount per min. Not sure if you knew it already
You can also type formulas in the clock speed bar as well. For example, instead of typing 66.6666, you can type 30/45*100 (you need to multiply by 100 to make the fraction a percentage), and it’ll reduce the input from 45 to 30 exactly. When the fractions get more complex, it’s a lifesaver.
52:14 Just like you can click on the percentage number to adjust, you can also click on the smaller production number to adjust. No need to calculate percentages.
This is by far one of the best video game videos I have seen. Nice cool calm voice with great emphasis when needed. Love the format with the speed ups and the cuts are not jolting and I love the little squigle so you know there was a cut. Then the visual representation after the builds is great too! I hope this serious continues!!
Darren, you’ve become my favorite content creator over the years and I’m incredibly excited for this new series! Your technique and pacing are spot-on. Very well done 👏
I am really enjoying this series. I started as a new player about 2 days ago and couldn’t find a content creator that could teach the game. They all were very knowledgeable about the game, but videos moved at a pace a beginner couldn’t follow. Your style and delivery has benefited me a great deal. Well done.🙏
This was a superb tutorial. Thank you. It's really great to see such efficient and easy builds. They seem like a no-brainer when viewing them, but as a brand new player, they're much easier to learn from a video than to invest yourself. I also loved the little tip on underclocking and on trying to keep the power usage constant.
I'm a pretty new player, about 16 hrs in so far, and just had to pause the video just after 2 minutes and say thank you so much for showing that there's a notes part of the to-do list! I'm starting to discover just how helpful the to-do list is for just adding buildings to it from the build menu but being able to set notes for myself is going to help so freaking much. Thank You!
I'm thrilled that you've embarked on this new series! Just a few days ago, I shared your previous Satisfactory Update 7,and the Anno 1800 content with my wife. Your series was my absolute favorite to watch back then. Keep up the fantastic work!
I love this format for a series; I've been dying to do a fresh restart, but afraid to lose all of my progress. This has encouraged me that it's not difficult to automate from the start.
Perfect intro. I’ve been wanting to get into satisfactory, but I also wanted to watch experienced players start and see how they played. But every experienced RUclipsr skips fundamental parts assuming the audience already knows things. Intro perfectly explained that this series would be thorough and beginner friendly and I am so excited now. So fire
I’ve watched hundreds of videos and continue to get lost and lose the want to play cause I’m lost but this video right here made everything click for some reason, absolutely perfect
I'm so excited for this one. I'm really interested to see you apply everything you learned from your previous playthrough from the beginning of this one! Thank you Darren!
I am currently finished with tier 4. Still was pretty much in awe of the builds of your previous world. Keep up the cool videos. Also nice use of the old minecraft music it fits the survival adventure vibe so we'll honestly
Been playing this game for years but I still enjoy your content. I get burnt out quite easily with this game but Ive started a new game recently and no play with the 'No Power' option. Its made the game so much more enjoyable for me not having to constantly worry about power and having to constantly upgrade power factories to keep up with the demand of the factories I'm building
Really liking that you did a fresh start series here. I've enjoyed the building designs you show as your session matures, and I'm looking forward to seeing you bridge the gap between disparate fk-all placement and organized design/build.
This is a really good series! Just picked up this game and got as far as coal but this series is already showing me stuff I've missed and can improve. Love the tightly edited style!
Terrific reboot. I think that I'll still be starting on tier one for my next build too, but almost always start right where you are to get through the starter factory phase. Always love your play style and looking forward to a weekly Satisfactory episode.
Awesome video, so glad I found you just in time for a new play through. Most of my builds are highly inspired from yours so I'm excited to see new builds. 😅😂 Whoever says shorten your videos don't listen.. I want to see it all, the planning, laying it out, decorating, everything. Could watch these videos for hours. Love it man keep it up.
as someone who started in the exact same location, it’s a really efficient spot having the first 3 major resources in the same place really is a game changer. I find myself really lucky to have just stumbled across it in my first save. It makes it really hard for me to start a new save without just eventually making my way there before I start
I think you deserve hands down a million sub. I look forward to follow along this great journey ! Edit : I think putting segments on the video could be a major help, I kinda get easely lost sometimes :) And for those who want to spend your time more efficiently you should make a chainsaw, grind down trees and automate solid biofuel for even more efficient burn time since by the end of the episode you have those unlocked !
So glad I watched this! I've just started playing and although I promised myself I wouldn't check out any let's plays so I could experience the game fresh for the first time, 10 hours in and I felt I need some direction. So many little things I'd walked past, like multiple hot bars and being able to snap splitters onto belts. I can't believe I never tried to.
He's back! You're an inspiration and I can't help measuring my content next to yours and always find myself lacking lol. I'm excited to see what you have planned for us!
I watched your first play through I am enjoying this one as well. I can't wait to see what you do differently with this one. I like that this is geared toward new players. Even though I have gotten as far as oil, I don't feel like I have the basics down and I feel like you have done a great job so far introducing key things without getting too bogged down in the details.
This was exactly what I was looking, I've played this game before back when it came out, clearly I have been away a while and a lot of new stuff has happened so I'm going to Play it again. Perfect explanation of how to get through the first part.
I am so glad I found your videos. I just purchased this game today. Subscribed today as well. This is the game is what I've been looking for. It concentrates on building without the need to eat or drink to stay alive. I can't believe I haven't seen this game before. Thanks so much for doing these videos!
I've just Started following along with this series. .. great gameplay / tutorial mix. And I like that you don't assume those watching have a working knowledge of this game. Quite a few tutorials assume you at least know something of the game. Thank you for also making save games, blueprints and other interesting game stuff available as well :-)
have a few thousand hours in this game and just found this series. I'm really enjoying having it in the background while I'm doing my own building and actually picked up a couple tips that I still didn't know, so here's a tip in return: you might have figured this out later in the series, but right now it's driving me nuts how you place power poles. Just select cable from your hot bar, attach it to a starting point, machine, etc and then you can place the pole and cable at the same time, it even swaps to wall mounts when aimed at a wall. no need to be doing two builds for every cable run.
I’m returning after a long break from the game and truly appreciate your video. Very informative, helpful and easy to follow. Definitely worth the sub.
WOW! You're incredible man! I just bought this for myself and a friend of mine and we started playing last night and absolutely love it so far. But you've taught me so much in your video's first half an hour. Thank you so much!! I can't wait to dive back in with all this knowledge! 🤯
I'm glad to see you regaining your viewers back with this new series. It shapes to be a great one to follow along. Thinking about trying the new update to see what it has in store as soon as it comes out of experimental
Really enjoying the episodes. Showed me where i was going wrong. I put a storage container in front of my biomass constructor, then dump all the wood/leaves straight into that. Really good for when you have the chain saw and more biomass burners. Also frees up slots.
Finally bought the game and found your vids, and you definitely earned yourself a new subscriber, so many details I never thought about and they are the first things you mention to teach us, loving the series, was gonna wait until september to play, but hell no, I can restart, I am so hyped after this, I just wanna play!
Man I love these play-along style vids. The aesthetics of these types of games make me happy but I do not have the time or brain power to figure this out on my own. Vids like this really push my happy buttons. thanks for the extra effort of making it easy to follow.
I really enjoyed this format of a video. I've started Satisfactory a couple of times and stopped around aluminum production. This popped up on my suggestions and makes me want to give it another go.
I've never played this game but I loved factorio so this really was right down my alley. Thank you for explaining everything so well too it really helps me understand what you're doing, as now I want to get the game myself. Keep it up!
Love the flow diagrams, thank you. Note: When you overclock and underclock machines, instead of typing all the decimal points, you can just type in the amount on the line below and it was calculate the percentage. So if you want a machnie to use only 40 per minute of an item, just change the items per minute number.
i had so much fun following along with this on my world! tysm for making this and i know im a bit late but cant wait to do the same for the rest of the episodes!
Dude, just wanna say that i have been watching since your last satisfactory ep.1 and your skills in game and just in making/editing the vids have come so far! Keep up the amazing work man.
So glad I found your channel! So clear in talking, and i'm going to watch all your videos on this as ive just bought the game. Got myself a 4070ti PC build, looks awesome in 4K!
Arrived on your channel as a recommendation, saw the last end of series video from last week but now I'm very interested on seeing your new fresh start man! Like your videos a lot! They're very friendly for new comers or veterans alike
Great video. I'm introducing my daughter to the game by doing a coop in the same place. Its a great starting area. Thanks for the milestone launching trick.
This is a great guide for new players. All the right info and good habits to get in to early (including my mandatory hologram colour adjustments. The defaults are a bit of an eyesore for my tastes). And even after 800+ hours I can still learn a few new things. Never thought of trying to send multiple Milestones at once. :) I've been looking for some good Update 8 videos to see how the new Engine is performing. I'll be sticking with this series. Thanks!
I have taken maps to high tier, but eventually it's always spaghetti. I am starting again and working along with these videos. I learned a lot. Underclocking. Who knew that helps stabilize the power grid? can't wait for future ep.
Just started playing about a week ago and found your previous video at that time. Good timing on this series for me personally, I appreciate the effort 🐸
Hey Darren, love that you came back to this game. I watched and played along probably 25 videos from last time you played and tried to match it. didn't make it BTW. lol but love this game and will be going back now.
I really love your video. Been playing Satisfactory for a while, but really love how you explain everything even if I already learned it. Your video was very entertaining and enjoyable. Thanks
Man...I have been playing this game for a while now...but i never knew that i could do all of those numbers and calculation thingies for a 100% production rate...that's gonna help me a bunch...thanks for making this video and looking forward for new once...Love from Bangladesh💚❤💚
You chose my favorite place to start. It's a great area... lots of flat space, easy access to iron, copper, and limestone, a few slugs nearby. I expand out later, of course, but this area is a terrific place to start off.
I've been looking for a game that I can get lost in for hours [replacing Going Medieval with over 1700 hrs] and I have just found this game. I'm looking forward to learning the basics, and after checking out some other RUclipsrs' content this series seems to hit the spot.
Videos like this always makes me want to buy the game. Good job with making a very beginner friendly video, whilst keeping it concise. This is all I want out of let's plays, I can't wait for the next epiosde.
I’ve been playing for a while now and was pleasantly surprised to find some very useful tips like formatting the notes and lightening the hologram color that either I didn’t know or didn’t appreciate/use before. So already 5:45 I find this tutorial useful for newbies as well as for more experienced players like myself who haven’t gotten into some of these QOL details before.
Hey, I just got Satisfactory in the Steam Sale and was looking for some starter tips. Clicked on your link first and it turns out I stumbled onto a gold mine. Thank you so much for all the work you have put into these videos and all the material you are providing!
nice video dude. think it would be helpful for new players indeed. the on-screen layouts are pretty handy i'd say. the only thing i wouldnt recommend for new players, is sending off all the milestones at once. could be a little overwhelming with the amount of stuff youre unlocking and how they all intertwine, if its your actual first time playing the game. later on, ofcourse, save time, be more efficient :D
Darren, your videos have been great and im glad youre revamping your Satisfactory series! I stumbled onto your channel searching for ways to make transport hubs and I've been hooked on your content for a while now! Glad you show your playthrough so well and dont skip around. Keep up the great work!
Im so excited! Can't wait to see what you come up with Edit: What is that tool you are using instead of the satisfactory calculator. what you are using seems very clean
This is one of those tutorials that you get so immersed into to the point where you are enjoying watching them rather than playing the game and trying them yourself. Awesome work. +1 happy subscriber
just picked the game up and the details about the belts and ways to make things more efficient has really helped me in building my layouts thanks and looking forward to part 2
45:13 You don't need 3 storage containers; 2 could work. Split the middle one to get 20 and 20, and merge each 20 with the output from the edge ones. That makes two belts going at 40 + 20 = 60.
When they release the 8, I'll will use yours to help me. I'm still on 7 and I had a jumbled mess, I have been able to do some nice builds, I still have a very long way to go. Keep up the great work with these new episodes.
I appreciate you sharing this with it - I can't imagine the effort that goes into making these. Seriously considering Satisfactory and this helps me see what the game is like and what needs to be done. Thank you D.
Awesome format for beginners. My two cents (haven't seen the next episode yet): You can do math in the machine settings and you can set the output as well. Instead of filling out 66.666666, you can just enter 2/3*100 or 200/3. Or even what you have over what the machine needs: 30/45. Or you can set 10 as output. All the same. When you are missing a power pole: instead of selecting power connection, select power pole and aim and click at an existing cable. Then, put down the pole down. It will insert itself in the existing connection.
I missed watching you learn. The process of you learning was entertaining. This time around I hope I learn your thought processes on meta logistics of buildings and resource transportation.
For people asking, you can view/download the production rate charts here: www.whatdarrenplays.com/satisfactory
That's what i was looking. Thank You
What Darren Plays in Satisfactory in 7 2023
Can we get the episodes numbered so we know what order to watch them in?
any chance this gets vr?
It's funny how your way of starting to build is completely different from my own. You've gone for full automation strait away. I normally use the mini-miners to collect rescources without using power, instead I build storage containers and spend all my power on smelters and constructors to make far more items than fully automated can. This lets you rush the low level research very quickly.
I have to say, I really appreciate the tutorial-esque nature of this episode. It's in depth enough to get a good understanding of what you need to do but doesn't lose itself in details! Great job!
Indeed. I too feel that the gameplay/tutorial balance of the episode was spot on!
Indeed! I’ll keep sending this out to people too intimidated to get started since it’s really easy to follow.
Also have to agree. Even though i already know everything about the game i didn't feel the need to skip parts of the video.
Also i really like the lack of forced/bad humor that a lot of other satisfactory dudes incorporate into their videos.
Yup. As a beginner I can also agree :)
My boyfriend is obsessed with this game, and I have no idea what's going on, or even where the factory is, but this vid explains a lot! Thanks!
Boyfriend sounds like a loser

Stop invading your boyfriend's spaces.

Wait really? I didn't know that.
Played for “years” and hear this the first time … TIL! ❤
What in the arse? I've been playing since release and thought I knew all the QoL features. How did I not know this?!
I kept wondering why they kept deleting the cables to add more poles...
now THAT is a pro tip

The Minecraft music is so fitting for Satisfactory, I love it.
lmao I was just thinkig about it while watchig and looked at the comments section and the first comment I see is what I was thinking xDDD
i was just about to comment that!
Me personally I like the original satisfactory soundtrack, but minecraft music does go well with it.
i thought i heard that in the background
i had no idea you could complete multiple milestones at once at 24:00 . that's a game changer for early levels!
52:14 Just like you can click on the percentage number to adjust, you can also click on the smaller production number to adjust. No need to calculate percentages.

Wow, thanks!
@WhatDarrenPlays which playlist would you suggest to follow? update 7 lets play or experimental update 8 lets play?
This is honestly one of the best video formats I've seen.
The combination of the typical "Let's Play"-Style and also tutorial sections is very nice.

I don’t even play satisfactory but the way u explain is soooo easy to understand than my math
Hey Darren, love that you came back to this game. I watched and played along probably 25 videos from last time you played and tried to match it. didn't make it BTW. lol but love this game and will be going back now.
Wow. How have I not been notified about this new series for over two months? I'll catch up!
I am loving the deep dive! You've really grown as a Satisfactory player!
I'm loving the mini timelapses to speed up movement
huh, ive been playing this game since 2021, even now i learned a LOT
i have never once gotten past tier 4 upgrades. i always get overwhelmed, throw my hands in the air, and uninstall for 8 months then rinse and repeat.
Im really glad youre restarting with U8! I followed along with your old series and I will most definitely follow along with this one
I'm looking forward to learning the basics, and after checking out some other RUclipsrs' content this series seems to hit the spot.
can't believe i went "YES LET'S GO" internally the moment i saw this like this is giving me so much motivation to do my work
Same :)
Videos like this always makes me want to buy the game.
Good job with making a very beginner friendly video, whilst keeping it concise. This is all I want out of let's plays, I can't wait for the next epiosde.
Is the next episode out yet? I can't wait
And again. I love the Minecraft music on the background.
Hey, I just got Satisfactory in the Steam Sale and was looking for some starter tips. Clicked on your link first and it turns out I stumbled onto a gold mine. Thank you so much for all the work you have put into these videos and all the material you are providing!
Hope you enjoy the game!
nice video dude. think it would be helpful for new players indeed. the on-screen layouts are pretty handy i'd say. the only thing i wouldnt recommend for new players, is sending off all the milestones at once. could be a little overwhelming with the amount of stuff youre unlocking and how they all intertwine, if its your actual first time playing the game. later on, ofcourse, save time, be more efficient :D
Can't wait to see what you come up with
Edit:
What is that tool you are using instead of the satisfactory calculator. what you are using seems very clean
Wish I found this earlier, started up a new game because of you. This style is amazing!
Pace, flow, and format are on point. Absolutely loved the video. I didn't even need the tutorial but I couldn't turn away lol
I missed your satisfactory videos, but only now I understood, that one of the biggest reason for this is your music choice
Amazing video! I've been putting this game off because it seems SO overwhelming. Picked it up on sale and followed your video! Thanks so much!
This arrives with a perfect timing i'm taking this game back after a years long break, very good video
My two cents (haven't seen the next episode yet):
You can do math in the machine settings and you can set the output as well.
Darren - glad to see a new satisfactory series beginning. Thanks for the content!
More to come!
I missed watching you learn. The process of you learning was entertaining.
This time around I hope I learn your thought processes on meta logistics of buildings and resource transportation.
