Thanks for the great video, my friend owns an x-pro 2 that we got a few years ago, we didn’t have much experience with cameras but it was surprisingly easy to figure out. Now he takes a lot of photos and I keep encouraging his journey.
After many years of using film and digital Nikon gear, I was tempted away in 2018 and pre-ordered an X-Pro2. I loved it from the very moment I started using it. Since then my stable has grown and I now have an X-T2, X-T3, X-T4, X-T5, X-H2 and this week picked up an X100VI. However, I still take the X-Pro2 out with me every day, even when I take one of the other cameras too. I simply love the Form Factor of the X-Pro2 and it remains my favourite camera. I do have to say though, that now, the X100VI is starting to run a very close second. Loved your video Giuseppe.
I have never used any of the X-T range, so it's hard for me to judge. But I'm confident I would also choose the x-pro over the X-T. SO it's interesting to hear the same from someone that has used the X-Ts as well.
It's my everyday too. I recently got the Voigtlander 18mm f2.8 for X mount and it has pretty much been glued to my X-Pro2 ever since. Someone else mentioned it. I have to shout it out too. I did a couple weeks of wandering through the American heartland on train and bus and that combo was absolutely perfect. I think this is one of Fuji's best cameras.
seems that the Voigtlander 18mm will be my next addition to x-pro. I believe it will be glued my my fuji as well once I get it. Yeah, haven't used any of the XT series, but the x-pro will stay with me long after many of my Canon DSLRs
i really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing your thoughts. i purchased an x-pro2 a couple months ago to replace a canon 5d mkiii and i absolutely love it, it makes photography feel like photography. ive been using the ttartisan 27mm, but the vignetting has been quite a creative challenge so i am looking at the fuji 27mm f2.8 like you have.
Thanks for watching. I have a lot of cameras, and the xpro2 has to be close to the top. As mentioned, is the sort of camera you want to pick up and shoot. it makes you want to go out and be creative. I have the older 27mm fuji and it's not as sharp or fast, but it's the lens I have on it most of the time. It's compact and just the right focal length. I may even consoler upgrading the newer 27mm fuji.
Beautiful shots. Almost 5 years owning the Xpro 3, it's been a camera that has been with me almost everywhere. The Xpro line is really beautiful. I recommended the 7artisans 25mm f1.8 for Fuji X. It's a sharp manual lens with beautiful rendering, and can be had really cheap. I rarely shoot anything wider myself, keeping it between the 40mm-50mm range in fullframe terms.
Hi @FIElvis . You mentioned that your XPro3 has been with you for 5 years. It didn't incur the LCD ribbon issue? Nor any other problem? It's because I'm thinking if I should consider this 2nd hand Duratech silver XPro3 but the cost is just quite high and having read much of users having their LCD screen die on them. Hoping to get your reply. Thank you.
@@nathanielngosy No issues yet, but I mostly use the evf. I baby my gear but even then it's not a given that there won't be a failure at some point. I am fortunate enough to be able to have insurance on my gear so when there is a failure that's not covered by the warranty, I am covered. It's a great camera that if you chose to will hopefully be with you for years also. Good luck!
I have both, the newer XF 18mm f/1.4 and the older 18mm f/2 lenses. The 18mm 1.4 is the better lens but I always use the 18mm f/2 lens on my X-Pro3 camera. It really is a great lens regardless of all the negative reviews out there on line about it, I love it. It is absolutely "good enough" and a fun lens to use. It fits the X-Pro3 that I use so much better than the bigger and newer 18mm lens. I'm very picky and if the 18mm f/2 lens wasn't a good lens I would absolutely not use it and surely get rid of it.
Yeah, I'm sold on the 18mm f2. if I found a good price, I'm certain it would be glued my my xpro2. I have both the older 27mm and the 35f2 and 23f2. and always have the 27mm on the camera. it's the perfect form factor. The 18mm f2 would just be perfection on the xpro line cameras.
@@giuseppdantesapienza I also use the 27mm too (newer version). It's actually extremely sharp stopped down a little bit. I usually keep the 27mm on my X-E4.
@@JimsPhotographyArt the 27mm is the perfect fit on my xe-1. but unfortunately both camera and lens being a bit old, the AF is a bit hit and miss, which is a shame, as it would the be perfect pocket camera. even tried a manual focus pancake lens on the XE-1. But the focus peaking is not very good at all. So again miss a lot of shots.
I'm a new Xpro2 user. I've fallen in love with the camera immediately. I mainly shoot film so this was the best digital upgrade for me to keep the feel me. I also adapt my FD lens to this camera. Do you prefer EVF or ERF?
Yeah, the Xpro 2 is much like shooting film, in terms of camera handling. Even the ISO selcection is the same as my Canon FTb. I mainly use the EVF as I have gotten so use to it with the Canon mirrorless pro bodies I use every day for work.
Regarding Leica (and generally full-frame sensor for zone focusing): I've been lucky and had them all before the M10. Many good thing with Leica. For manual work and build quality - viewfinder etc. the list is loooooong. But for me, who shoots 99% street photography(zone focus) there is a big problem with a full-frame sensor. And that's depth of field. On the Leica, I have to go up to f16-f20 to get about the same depth of field as the Fuji at f11-f8. I bought the X-pro2 a few months ago. As I said since I'm a manual focus guy (zone focusing) had to have a proper manual lens. Bought the Voigtlander 18mm and love it. Made some videos on my channel if you want to check them out. Thanks
great insight from both the Leica and xpro 2. I don't really do a lot of street photography, if anything the fuji is my everyday camera when out with the family, going for a coffee or a walk. along with the fuji 18mm f2 for AF, I may consider a Voigtlander, either 18mm or 35mm as I love the 50mm full frame view as well. Will check you the channel, thanks
You are on the money. Re: 18mm f2, just get one. I have a Pro3 (if going again I'd probably just get the Pro2 and spend the difference on glass, but Pro3 is fantastic in any case). That lens got bad press back in the day, but I've tried a few Fuji X lenses on the Pro3 (incl. 23mm 1.4 and 35mm f2, 56 1.2), all fantastic, but the 18/2 is the one you will prise from my cold dead fingers. Don't pay any attention to reviews, its a fantastic lens and perfect on the X Pro, doesn't really intrude on the OVF and the rendering is sublime. AF is a little bit slow and noisy, but livewithable. Re: Pro4, lets see, the version 3 has been out of production for a while now and the focus seems to be on the unobtainable X100 V1. Normally when they continue a line, the old model drops out either just before the new release or maybe a bit after, they don't usually throw multi year gaps between releases.
Yes, more and more convinced the 18 f2 will be my next lens. I feel it will be stuck on my xpro2. I have the 28mm 1.8 for the canon and its my fav sense to take out on trips with family when I have my 5Dk3 or canon eos3 film camera.
Great watch Giuseppe, also have an x-pro 2 i got a few years ago, completly agree, such a nice camera as a daily carry and it surley does make you want to go out and use it
Absolutely. As great as the Canon R6mk2 and my 5Dmk3 are, I will always put the X-pro 2 in the bag instead of the Canons, when going out for the day, or even going on holidays for a week with the family. It's such a joy to hold and use.
I have all 3 models, tough call (and controversial) however the is ‘3’ is probably my favorite. I recently acquired (yesterday as a matter of fact) a Pergear 25mm 1.7….wow! I shot a Rodeo last night with this combo (along with an X-T5 for client work) and I was very pleased with the results. I haven’t shot with a MF lens since the late 80s, glad to see that my focusing skills have not declined that much over the decades.
have considered some of the Pergear, immensely cheap for what they deliver. and in regards to the xpro3. I think, if I hadn't bought the xpro2 before the 3 came out, I would have also gone with the 3. I have zero issues with the rear screen being closed. In fact I always switch my screen off on the xpro2 and only use the viewfinder. And when I need the screen, having that low down flip is perfect for those waist level shots.
I own the X-Pro 2 for one year now and truly love it (f.e. over the X-T4, which I still don't know how to use to get good results). Tried different lenses with the X-Pro2, but the one that always stays on it, is the XF 27mm f2.8. It's a match:)
Have to admit, the 27mm 2.8 is on mine 80% of the time as well. It's such a great form factor, for everyday use. I may consider updating to the newer WR version.
Check out the Voigtlander 18mm 2.8 pancake lens. Manual focus, but you appear to enjoy that. They also have a 27mm f2 pancake and some other 1.2 MF glass. Great lineup of lenses. Nice summary of the X-Pro2. Still miss mine. Eagerly awaiting the X-Pro4 😊
Yes, have been keen to try the Voigtlanders for a long time, and so glad they make them for x-mounts. the 18mm 2.8 and 27mm f2 are definitely tempting, and seem to be made perfectly for the x-pro. Has to be my next purchase, and may do a short video on it when I get it.

I don't own any of the XT range, but have both the xe-1 and pro-2 and use both consistently, the ex-1 men smaller than the pro fits nicely into even smaller bags and perfect for every day use. The focus of the xe-1 is far below the pro, but if your not shooting anything moving, it is fine.
i get this "small camera / great everyday carry" point. however, I entered the fuji lineup with the X-T20 (the same sensor and image quality as the X-PRO 2) and I just cant split with the X-Txx line of cameras. :) I bought the X-PRO 3 and was sure that it will be the camera I will love - no, it was not. It was too heavy, the OVF was not s great at the end .. I end up with the X-T30 ii at the end and I happy again.
