    You're so right - buy the camera you actually want... it's taken me [about a thousand years] to work this out, but having just purchased an xpro 3, I finally have. I did a shoot with my sony A7r3 this morning, and it was mint - super mint - it's never put a foot wrong, but do I love it? No (well, kinda, but it's not 'love'). Thank you Mr Wooden Frames - this video spoke to me - and finally I bought the camera I wanted. Will I use it profedsionally - maybe, but that's not what it's for - it's for my heart, and my soul - my well-being. It's beautiful. Fullstop. Greetings from New Zealand... and thanks - you're a wise man.

    I started with the X-E2, and then the X-Pro2. Weather sealing, better sensor, and dual card slots were the main reasons. Never used the OVF much, but it was cool to have. Two things caused me to sell it: the feeling I was "missing out" and needed full-frame, and that damn fiddly Shutter Speed/ISO dial. So I moved on to a Canon R6. Nice camera, big camera, heavy camera, nice images, and... not much fun. So I just sold it, and with the proceeds purchased... an X-Pro2. I think I've discovered a work-around for my dial issues. The rest? Time will tell.

    I know this is a late comment....
    I have 4 leica cameras. I recently bought an x-Pro2 because it's just such a joy to use. Versatile. Incredibly user-configurable. I bought the Fuji adapter to use my M lenses on the x-Pro2. But, the Fuji 35mm f1.4 that I bought with the camera is amazingly sharp and as good as anyone would hope to have. I'm quite impressed with Fuji cameras and lenses.

    • @WoodenAxle
      @WoodenAxle  14 дней назад

      Oh yeah, that 35mm is a beauty. How does it compare to your Leica glass?

    • @QRPSchool
      @QRPSchool 14 дней назад

      @@WoodenAxle honestly, from my initial photos, I don’t think there is much of a difference. If I didn’t already have the Leica lenses, I wouldn’t feel the need to buy them for this camera. The Fuji lenses are good! I’m not much a snob when it comes to these things. I love my Leicas, but nearly all of the greatest photos taken in the last 50 years were NOT taken with German glass, right? The hardware does make a difference but someone who truly understands light and composition can pick up a Pentax K-1000 and make great photos. I have a little Sony RX100V that is pocket-sized with a Zeiss lens that produces incredible images. To my way of thinking, it’s all good. I can enjoy the simplistic aesthetic of the Leica M but also appreciate the well-designed and fun experience of the solid, supremely configurable X-Pro2. A camera with Film Stock Bracketing??? So cool… Those of us who are in our 60’s (and beyond) have had some wonderful cameras to play with over time!

    I love the X-Pro2 as well. Had my name down for one when it first came out, used it, enjoyed it and eventually sold it in part exchange for the X-Pro3. Used that for a while, didn't really like using it so I sold it and bought what was probably the last new X-Pro2 in the UK. I'm happy now and like this one even more than the first one-the eyepiece ring doesn't keep falling off! This one's a keeper!!

      @@marcogrecuccio9874 Hi Marco, I bought the 3 because I wanted a flip screen but found its screen a bit fiddly to use. I don't care about making the camera look vintage, I prefer things that are honest and look like what they are. I didn't like the permanently on picture/info on it either and tried to erase it all but it still appeared when the camera was turned off. One other thing I prefer on the 2 is the Acros film sim. I think you can see the intended grain differences better and that they're a little smoothed out on the 3. Feel free to ask anything else!

      @@gooner-n5I agree, X-Pro2 is nice and I know it is capable, because I currently have X-T2, which has basically same internals as X-Pro2. I've been a Fujifilm digital camera user since they first introduced the X100 and X-Pro1. I still have the X-Pro1 and X-Pro2. I never saw a reason to 'upgrade' to the X-Pro3 (despite the flippy screen and extra film simulations.) Maybe when an X-Pro4 arrives I might consider one of those. My wife 'inherited' my X-T3 and X100F - but I 'borrow' them occasionally. I was a dedicated Nikon SLR / DSLR user for 35+ years and I still have a Leica Q2 - but the camera I reach for first is invariably my X-Pro2. Keep up the great work.

    Bought an X-Pro2 in 2017, bought a now-busted X-T1 before that and an X-E1 back when they were on pre-order, still use that too, because X-Trans 1 jpg look and colors have never been replicated. I do use other stuff and, like you, spent a fortune, but the camera I always return to is the D3. I did try the Xpro2 a few years ago, but I could never get on with hybrid/optical viewfinder thing. I always found neither gave me the right feel/experience. I think they should have just done either or, and made that feature the best they could. Interesting, but essentially meaningless to anyone other than yourself, for purely subjective reasons. I, for example, either owned, handled, and/or shot with most all the Fujifilm forms, & yet came to a different conclusion, mine being the X-E2. Not giving a hoot about video or action photography, & my favorite sensor being the Trans2 (not available on any Pro version), this model is my sweet spot. Ergonomics are also right up my alley (Pro is needlessly large, and that dual optical viewfinder is nothing but a distracting novelty to me as far as practical shooting goes). In other words’, like you, I didn’t waste my time experimenting with different tools until I hit with the one that keeps me lit,..... time well spent in my book, as our in sight apparently doesn’t have the same Look 🔍🔎🧐

      When I decided to buy a Fujifilm camera, I watched countless videos, and after carefully thinking what camera it would be the best fit for my style and wallet, I choose the X-E2 and never regretted the choice, after a while I decided to get an X100s, same sensor, still using the E2 more, but the 100 is truly an amazing camera

    • @raymeedc
      @raymeedc Год назад +2

      Absolutely a great camera, just not for me, unless, of course, I had more loose change lying around than I do.. First of all, the fixed lens deal placed point of view versatility on the bottom rung.I can always walk around with my Fujicron 23mm f2 for the same outlook to begin with, & while yes, you don’t get quite the low profile as the 100, but for that I use my much preferred lens for street shooting , the Fujinon aperture ringed 27mm pancake on my much preferred X-E2 body. Sharing equal street walking duties on my E2 in the under rated sleeper of the street crowd, the plasicky, quirky, but optically excellent diminutive, light as a feather Fujinon XC 15 - 45 zoom, neither of which choices would be possible with the 100 series, not to mention the fact that EyE prefer the looks & ergonomics of the E 2 besides. Like I said, love the 100 series, just not my particular cup of tea.

    • @raymeedc

      Actually average size. As far as cameras go, tho, I have a thing about small cameras for my street travels, and the XE2 with the 27mm pancake meets my Bill in that regard. The only notable downside to the smaller body, however, is the not quite bright enough for me smaller EVF. Smaller size I understand & doesn’t come to mind when shooting, but the duller than my X-T1 of the same Trans2 generation output is a slightly annoying mystery, although notice of that also disappears when in the heat of photo graphic focus. I initially had the X-E1 with the same Trans1 as yours, which I like as much as I do my Trans 2, my two favorite sensors, but I found the focusing, speed/accuracy, lagging EVF refresh rate & less helpful focus peaking, and overall performance were all enhanced to a noticeable degree with the X-E2. I’m quite sure the Pro-1 is also a great camera, as is just about every camera in the Fujifilm line, and thank goodness for those of us that appreciate and can benefit from that choice❣️

      I’m old and grew up shooting film.
      I’m not a spray and pray shooter so the slowness really doesn’t bother me.
      I almost exclusively use the Pro1 for b&w shooting.
      It’s perfect for that.
      My X-e2 is basically my always on me camera.
      I have a grip on it to increase the size a bit because I have really large hands and the ergonomics without the grip makes my hands cramp after a while.

    Well, we've finally hit a point in digital photography where you should be looking at lens choice and camera ergonomics and comfortability and not the newest model. Sure, in the 00's getting new gear every 3 years or so made sense... cameras got so much better every three years or so. Now it doesn't matter. I still remember my early point and shoots that were like 7.5 Megapixels. I thought they were so high tech, lol. But I think we finally HAVE gotten to a point where a 6 year old camera isn't any better or worse than the new shit.
