You could also have bought the 27mm f/2.8 pancake lens. Very compact, reasonable price and much cheaper than buying a new camera.
So true, did exactly this to keep my Xpro2 compact whenever I need it to be.
Evan, I'm fortunate to own the Fuji X-t2, the X-Pro 2, and the X100f. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the X-t2 to anyone, it's a fantastic camera.
That said, if my home was on fire and I could only grab one camera, it would be the X-100f, my everyday camera of choice. Both the x100f and the X-Pro 2 share the rangefinder-form body style that I favor, and neither camera has any branding on the front, just plain black. And both cameras are discrete and non-intrusive. A little thing important to me, both cameras have the same buttons to the right of the LCD screen, a huge help in speedy operation as they use the same muscle memory to navigate these controls!
So if it's lens interchangeability, weather sealing, and dual card slots for backup that I need for the day, it's the X-Pro 2. And if it's minimal size and weight and hi-speed flash sync, then the x100f is my choice.

Are you selling your xt2 when the xt3 comes out in October?
Miataman im wondering the x100f if something bad happens to it i mean you scratch the lens bad or you drop it and the lens crack or the metal around it bends its pretty much useless camera then no?
Recently went from Sony a6300 to the x100f and I couldn't be happier. The colors I get from the Fuji are so good. Also the aesthetic of the x100f are amazing. Great old school feel with modern technology. Quickly becoming a Fuji fanboy lol
I use the pro2 and have for nearly 2 years. Best camera I've ever used and now I know it inside out it so easy. Even the iso dial I love and that's something so many people dislike. With the firmware updates it really is a top class machine but oh so much more.

Enjoyed your video. I have too many cameras and thank god for digital it got me back into photography. I love the Fuji line and started with the x-100. I now have the x-pro 1 (would love the 2) and the xe-2. I have Leica glass and love pairing them.... I would like to add that The x-100 series (fixed lens) makes you think more rather than changing lenses and that would definitely be a plus. That being said, I wish I had more primes from Fuji....

Loved hearing your take on having both! I owned the XPro2 and (still own) the x100F. It’s incredibly nice to have a designated “35mm look” camera. Sometimes you just want to use the camera where you don’t even have the option to switch lenses, right? Haha cheers man

I also wanted to have a secondary, smaller camera to go with MY Nikon DSLR so I bought the X-P:ro2. And I love it. Then I wanted a third camera to use as a backup for my X-Pro2. Unfortunately, my heart ruled my head so I bought an X-T2 with battery grip. So now I still go out with at least two pretty big cameras but still love them all to bits.

I have a Canon 6D with all the lenses that I need, and I'm looking at the X100F as a secondary camera. But I wonder what the image quality is like. Both sharpness and low light/high ISO. Would it be better to buy an X-E3 with the 18mm pancake lens?
In what situations would you use the X-Pro2 vs the Nikon, given that the X100F is the compact, everyday camera? BTW, love your videos! Great info and inspiration! Keep up the great work!
Great video but the 23mm f2 lenses are not the same the standalone 23 is much faster focusing than the x100f 23 and the standalone is weather sealed making the xpro2 set up much more robust. Both great cameras
hi there, what about Fuji's 18mm and 27mm pancake lenses you could put a XT-2 or X-pro2 in a coat pocket with either of these lenses attached.

I have had no idea till last Monday about Fuji cameras.
I used X-pro2 with 23 f2 for 3 days. It is really a nice camera, but if there is no big differences in image quality why i should go for X100F. I mostly use 35mm and it is much more pratical to use it.
I am thinking to buy X100F as a second camera and go for X-H1, X-T3 or X-pro2 with 56 f1.4 soon. Do you have any suggestuon?
I just picked up an xpro2 in 2021 as a cheap travel camera to compliment my XT3 and man I miss focus alot. Im curious if you actually used autofocus or if you went manual when you had this. My technique is pretty spot on so Im wondering if this thing is just a little too quirky for me. Shout out from 2021.

No, different size. For the f2 lens, you'd need to use the LH-XF35-2 hood which looks decent but isn't square. A company named Haoge makes a square hood for the 23f2 that you can get on Amazon and eBay but it looks a little different than this one.

I have the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and the X100T. The Pro2/16mm is for landscapes, architecture, street shots and some people/social shots. The X100T is for travel and stealthy, low impact people shots. What I mean by low impact is that the X100T doesn't scare people and it has a whisper quiet leaf shutter. The X-Pro2 with the 16mm tends to scare the crap out of people. They see that big lens and they feel as if the thing is going to suck their soul and reveal everything about how they appear. I am (ideally) a one camera person but I cannot part with either. If I was forced into one camera I would get the X100F with the conversion lenses and the Lens Mate thumb grip as well as the hand-stitched leather case from Luigi.
I’m also thinking about complementing my x-pro2, but I love my 23mm f1.4, so I’m not quite sure if I want to sell that lens.

I have the X-Pro2 and the x70 I use the x70 when I really want to travel light that thing is tiny, also I way prefer its 28mm over the x100f's 35 but do miss a viewfinder, it seems there is always a compromise! would be nice if it had the same 24mp sensor too lol.

Had a pair of X100S bodies, one with the TCL and the other with the WCL, but they just did not work for me due to lack of weather proofing and I could not get used to the leaf shutter of the X100 series. I have now opted for the X-Pro2 with the XF35mm f2 WR to have a weather resistant package and a shutter like the SLR/DSLR cameras I used for 4 decades both for personal and professional work. I applaud anyone who can jump between the two cameras as, for me, the two have enough differences that have me leaning to the X-Pro series.

What about the new X100V? I hear it's sharper. I carry the TG5 cus it's small and weatherproof. And has good video and macro.

I love the x100f because it fits in my pants side pockets. its great for street shooting etc... however... its not weather sealed and I had issues with rain. So I kept the xpro2 for general purpose. Im thinking about exiting my dslr and keeping a GFX 50s for serious photo and the xpro2 for general photo and the x100f for when I need super light camera (though my iphone X works well too for that...)
Well the x100 series is a camera line all of which drives you to go out and shoot more. Once you get a hold of one of the cameras from that line, boy you need to resist taking photos.
Just a note though, the 23mm f2 on the x100F is not as soft as the 23mm f2 interchangeable lens available for x-series bodies. The 23mm f2 on the x100f produces sharper images with better contrast compared to the 23mm f2 interchangeable, probably due to the less distance between the lens and the sensor and the leaf shutter. This is all based on my own "sort of" exhaustive tests of course.
I had a 23mm f2 interchangeable and I returned it as well due to softness and lack of real sharp focus, just as you. However, I'm perfectly content with the results I get with the x100t that I have (which shares the same lens with the x100f) based on sharpness and overall contrast.

It's kind of the same story for me, Except with the original x100 and the xpro1. I bought the original x100 and then later on purchased the xpro1 for the ability to change lenses. Love the size of the x100 series cameras.
maybe getting a used x100 would be a reasonable choice for somebody

The x100F lens is not even close to being the same as the 23mm interchangeable lens.

okay, so i have a nikon, and i want a fuji. I would def buy the x100f for sake of size. but if i were to move my system, i would go all in for the xt2 and i would get the pancake 27mm. that saves up the whole size problem. but yes i would still want to have that x100f everywhere i go.
check out and see if the pancake 27mm is good on the xpro 2 it look very small
Unfortunately, the lowlight performance of the 27mm is very very poor. This was one of the biggest disappointments that I had after testing that lens. For online presence, Instagram etc., 27 good. For prints, magazines etc, it's not good enough.

just to say a 16mm 2.8 is on route so if you hate the size of that 1.4 then that might interest you. But really that 16mm is tiny compared to a full frame 24 1.4
Exact as my situation : Nikon D700 with grip for wildlife and sports , X-pro2 for general use , X100f mainly for street or when I don't want to carry around too much. Advantages of the 100f = flash , leaf shutter , build in ND filters , less chances of dust getting on the sensor. Disadvantages : fixed lens , only till 1/4000s.
just picked up a d700. how do you find it for wildlife/sports? what lenses do you pair it with?
@@jackwuotila4895 It's very good , provided you don't have to crop a lot , certainly passing 1600iso. So be if possible as precise as possible in composition so you don't need to alter later. Lenses for sports/wildlife : Nikkor 80-200 F2.8D , Tamron 300mm F2.8 SP-LD-IF , Nikkor 135mm F2DC.
Not sure about the softness of 23F2. Basically this X100F lens has been the same since the start of the X100 series and it's been soft all the time. 23F2 and 35F2 is amazing on XPRO2 with being sharp wide open and fast focus. I do get what you mention about the size, just disagree with the lens selection.

Better size comparison might be between X-E2/X-E3 vs. X100T/X100F. The bodies are almost identical in size.

Yup the 23mm f/2 is soft and have that hazy look when shooting close up. The 35mm f/2 is much nicer in that department. The redesigned X100V 23mm is sharp wide open at close up, maybe fuji should release a mk2 version of the 23mm f/2 but I doubt they will lol

The problem is u cant compare the 23 on the x100F with the 23mm 2.0. Try at 2.0 a near shot ... since the x100 is it the same lens ....very very soft at 2.0 at near objects ....its a known "issue" beside this problem the camera is a beast ... I had the X-T2 and the X100F and ended now in a X-T2 X-Pro2 Combo. But i dont have a FF, dont need it for my Stuff. But different tools for different situations. Love ur Videos and hope that u keep the Pro =) Greetings from Austria !

I'm torn between getting a second X-T2 or an X-Pro2 as a backup (and for when I need two lenses ready to shoot without swapping). At this point X-T2/X-Pro2 bodies are about the same price used and I'm struggling with the decision... I'm heading to Guatemala in 2 weeks and then to Costa Rica to shoot Envision Festival, so I'm trying to decide ASAP, lol. I'm also considering getting the X100f for my 23mm focal length and X-T2 for everything else, then getting my backup body after the X-H1 is released and the prices drop again 😄 Since you've owned all three, maybe you can take a moment to help.
I like to shoot travel/street too (among other things), but also do some festival/live music photography. In those settings I want to replace my X-E2 as my current second body so I can have either two primes or a prime and my 55-200 ready to shoot at any given moment (frequent combinations are: 12 f/2 or 16 f/1.4 and 35, 23 f/1.4 and 56mm or 135 f/2.5 w/ speed booster or 55-200). These paired combos will only really happen for events/festivals. I shoot a fair bit of street while traveling, which is done almost exclusively with my 23 f/1.4.
What's it like to go back and forth between the two? I had an original X100, but it was so slow/clunky compared to the new stuff that I'm not sure it was really representative of how using the X-Pro2 would be. A lot of X-Pro2 users seem to admit that they don't really use the OVF after they settle into owning the camera-do you find it useful for street/travel or event/live music styles of photography?
Do you think it's foolish to think I'll get any use out of the OVF? I'm thinking I'd use the X-T2 with longer lenses and grip and an X-Pro2 with my 16, 23, or 35 f/1.4 and OVF would be awesome in low light/fast action situations since I could see what's coming into the frame with the OVF and be more engaged/aware of the people around me. I am a left eye shooter, but could still see this as being a potential use.

Why buy a 23mm? Just crop the incredible 16mm 1.4 to achieve the same result as a 23mm with no loss of quality. I use just the 16 mm and the 50mm f2 and have incredible resolution from 16mm to 100mm much better than the overweight full frame Nikon system I used to use and don’t miss at all! The 35mm f2 is superb but still the 16mm cropped to 200% gets incredibly close.

I have the X-T2 and X100F. By far the X100F gets more use due to the relative size.

Not at all! It is the other way around.
Other way round. Got both 23 standalone is better newer tech sharper and faster focusing plus it's weather sealed
XF 23mm f2 is more than a match for the X100 23mm - no basis to say it is inferior. Also adds weather resistance.

What's your specific use case for your X-Pro 2, since in your own words the X100F "does that job (you) hoped (the X-Pro 2) would do initially which is I can throw it in my car..." etc etc? I assume you continue to use your DSLR for what you deem as the more important, non-trivial projects.
I think the fact that he can change lenses on the X-Pro2 makes the difference for him
Bearing in mind these are all from his comments - in view of the weight and perhaps more imporantly to him the size/width difference when using the X-Pro 2 with various lenses vs the X100F, the X100F seemingly has won the right of place as his all-rounder carry-around, family life, daily life and backup camera. Are there any times you use the X-Pro 2 out instead? What are they? It would be nice for people to know with what needs and with what situations could a 3-camera setup be a good idea - perhaps some potential buyers may consider doing the same.

Im literally thinking of this right now.. I own an Xpro2.. ended up buying an XT2 bc i loved the huge EVF, buuuuuuut, i do love the rangefinder and about 3 days ago finally got to play with an x100f and the size difference is notable.. the 23mm f2 lives on my xpro2.. but thinking of selling my xpro2 and getting the x100f strictly for size and considering on a rangefinder the 35mm focal length has been my favorite so far..
GKhan lol the X-Pro 2 is honestly massive compared to the X-E2, X-E3 and X100 series. It's a fair bit wider, taller and thicker, and if you're only going to carry one lens and one body anyway an X100 body is much more convenient.
Not sure how the comparison with a DSLR is relevant at all, it's like saying: A is better than B, but you should still choose B because it's better than C. C isn't even in the picture to begin with.
X-Pro2 is not a compact camera. Just try a good mirrorless camera with a pancake lens and you will realize that. For me the X100F is already big and I would buy the X70 instead.

As an xpro2 and an xt4 owner I would say yes. The reason I haven't sold my xt4, is IBIS and the three designated dials for ISO, SS and exposure compensation. The xpro2 doesn't have the ISO in a comfortable place and I use the xt4 for low light shooting with a manual ttartisan 35mm f0,95 - IBIS helps. I was thinking about the x100vi, as it also has got ibis and f2 is faster than the 27mm f2,8 I use with the xpro2, but I just love the xpro2 too much:)
All you said is it's about size so I use a huwaei p10 pro mate it's a smartphone weather sealed with a dual lenses Leica camera. It's great and subscribe to my channel
the 23mm f/2 lens is NOT a 35mm f/2 equivalent.
in terms of depth of field and field of view it's more like a 35mm f/3.
