    Was hell bent on getting the XT-2. Went down to the Fuji shop, picked up an Xpro2 just for fun and magic happened. Went out with an Xpro2 instead. Felt so right in my hands.

    That example at the end about the Truck and the Porsches are very relatable - great example! I use my Sony a7Rii and a7ii for heavy work loads and projects. And going to be using the xpro2 for FUN and being creative (alongside my x100f). A lot of consumers (hobbyists or pro-photographers) think these type of cameras are not “capable” because they aren’t “full-frame.” But APS-C sensors have come a long way over the years, just like mirrorless cameras did. Fujifilm’s sensors are so hi-tech now that it can compete with a full-frame. This helped me a lot in choosing between the xpro2 and the xt2 (going w/ the xpro2... love the rangefinder style!). Thanks, Evan! And while I’m waiting for my xpro2 in the mail, I did notice I tend to pick up my X100F more often THAN my a7ii or even a7rii ! It’s all about how you work and what you prefer.
    ...now Medium Format... THATS a big difference!😭

    Love your DSLR vs. Mirrorless analogy. I'm not currently using a Fuji, but an Olympus mirrorless, and it has just given me so much ease in my 'fun' photography. I'd be really interested in what lenses you are using for what situations on your Fuji, and how to keep your pack light when out and about with the Fuji!

    I sold my camera gear with the intention of getting the X-Pro 2 but my store only had the X-T2. I miss the optical view finder but I don't regret my decision and I'm beginning to fall in love with it the more I shoot.
    I really enjoy your channel it motivates me mentally to go out and shoot, I just need to do it physically lol. Keep up the good work.

    I 100% agree with these points, the weather sealing on the Xpro-2 is superb too! I think Fujifilm really captured the experience of shooting with an absolutely beautiful piece of kit perfectly, and if you’re a film photographer- the dials make you feel right at home, and as you pointed out the hybrid viewfinder just makes it more of a joy to use. Fuji’s colour science is also something to marvel at.

    Nice video Evan! I totally agree with you... I actually went with the X-Pro 2 over the XT-2, simply because the XT-2 wasn't out at the time, and I needed the upgraded sensor for printing large poster prints, which both of these cameras excel at, especially when coupled with the stellar Fujinon XF lenses! I can print 24x36" prints with superb detail and sharpness. I look forward to more of your reviews of the Fujifilm X-System.

  • @khronokraze

    pretty much agree with why you might own the X-Pro2 over the X-T2.
    I know the X-T2 is more capable overall, but I still chose the X-Pro2 over the X-T2 primarily for its form factor and the hybrid viewfinder. And, I frankly don't need all the bells & whistles the X-T2 holds over the X-Pro2.. 4k video, better AF with the boost mode, extended continuous shooting with the battery grip, etc.
    That being said, with the latest firmware update v3.00 for the X-Pro2, the X-Pro2 is even closer to performing and being able to do as well as the X-T2. I think namely the improvements to the EVF and AF-C customization levels things off a little more. But, the X-T2 still has more and frankly, and there's been a lot of questions on why Fujifilm decided to do this, I don't understand why many of the features that went into the X-T2 are not in the X-Pro2? If it's not a hardware or software (or firmware, what is the difference between software and firmware anyways?) limitation, as both are flagship models for Fujifilm, they should have as much of the same features as possible.
    I'm not really disappointed or feel the things that are absent in the X-Pro2 keep me from enjoying the camera. Not at all, but, I believe if they can put it in, they should. At least you may always have the option to use certain features or not, but the choice is there and yours to make.
    Love my X-Pro2. Definitely THE camera I want to take with me everywhere I can and want to make photos with it.
    If I feel I'm missing anything useful from the X-T2 that's not in the X-pro2, it's the new 3-way tilt screen. The design was weird at first, but totally makes sense. I don't need the screen to flip forward because I don't do selfies nor video of myself to see how shot is setup. But, I like the fact the screen tilts in just enough angles to get the harder and more unique low or high angle shots in a more convenient manner.. either you can't physically get to the higher elevation or you just don't want to be down in the muck to get the really low angled shots.
    And the X-T2's rear screen tilting angles are 1 quick motion in either of the 3 directions/angles, unlike traditional fully articulated screens where you have to flip out and then flip around to use them. And they also stick out away from the camera a lot more, increasing the camera profile and are less friendly to use especially when you have a neck strap attached.

      Hi Desmond, i see you wear glasses. Do you also wear them to shoot with the camera? Ill be byuingeither theXT2 or the XPRO2 in a couple of weeks. But i live outside the US and haven't been able to try any of the cameras. I'll be sending the camera to a relative who is travelling to NYC for a couple of days. It would be really helpful if you could share your thoughts about the viewinders difference between the two cameras. Ilike more the XPRO2 style but i read it could be a pain to a left eye shooter who wears glasses as myself. Something about i won't be able to see the whole frame because of the eyecup relief not being as good as the one on the X-T2. Do you agree?

    • @DesmondM
      @DesmondM 7 лет назад +1

      Hi Patricio, I do wear my glasses when shooting with both cameras. Also, like you, I am left eye dominant. I will say that the viewfinder on the XT-2 is definitely bigger, brighter, and more forgiving, but I get the same angle of view on the X-Pro2 EVF/OVF with or without my glasses. The X-Pro2 displays some information on the right of the EVF (Film Simulation, Dynamic Range), while the XT-2 puts this on the top. Sometimes have to shift my eye a bit to fully see that info, but you can choose not to have that displayed. For me, it hasn't affected composing my shots. I don't consider it a pain but if I go from one to the other it does require an adjustment. Maxing out the diopter to the negative on either camera lets me shoot without my glasses.

      @time4hobby 7 лет назад +1

      Desmond M. Thank you very much. Your insights have been really helpful. I like the xpro2 style much more. But I was afraid not to get the full view being a left eye dominant glass wearer such as yourself. But if you don't have any issues with that then I guess It'll be fine for me as well. I'll get the xpro2. Tanks!

    I've got the same attitude so i think the xpro2 could really be the one for me, too. i'd take the xt2 but i don't like that it only has an electronic viewfinder. on the other hand, i kinda want and need a work horse, too. maybe just a work horse /light/, and i hope that the xpro2 could be exactly that. need to finally try one and then decide... but i'm pretty sure now that i'm leaving the big and heavy dslr thing. i want to be able to take my camera with me whenever i want to, and it's great if it's an inconspicuous one...

    I also chose the X-Pro 1 over X-T1 because of the hybrid VF, but had I known the parallax error would be so bad, I would have probably gone for the X-T1. Do I regret getting the X-Pro 1? No. Favorite camera I've ever used, hands down and still very capable.

      @TGCid01 7 лет назад +1

      ***** definitely. It is still a competent, capable camera that I use as my daily driver (my Canon 70D being my workhorse). Only cons I say the X-Pro 1 has that, say the X-Pro 2 or any newer mirrorless camera may have improved upon is the slight shutter lag and the slow write speed when saving pictures to the SD card. Regardless of those gripes, I'd recommend anyone looking for a cheap way to get into the Fuji system to go for the X-Pro 1 or X-T1. Then in a few yrs or whenever you feel the need to upgrade, you can just buy a newer body.

    • @khronokraze
      @khronokraze 7 лет назад +1

      I had an X-Pro1. I wanted it when it originally was released back in 2012. It was a brand new system with only 3 lenses and they cost quite a bit.. it's funny when people still complain about the cost of an X-Pro2 and X-T2 these days if you look back to how much the X-Pro1 was which with it's limited accessories fully kitted was easily over mid-$2k.
      Now (actually for some time now) you can get a new X-Pro1 for under $500. That's when I got mine (finally) just months before I knew the X-Pro2 was finally seriously about to be released.
      If you don't need the speed and snappiness of the modern X cameras, the X-Pro1 is totally relevant and capable. And, it's 1st gen X-Trans sensor does give a unique look.. hard to describe, but when you look and compare photos between 1st gen sensor (& even the 1st gen X100 (12mp, not X-Trans yet), which I also owned), there is something different and very nice about them.
      The only reason I never kept the original X100 or X-Pro1 was because of it's hybrid viewfinder, ironically, which is one, if not THE, mainselling points of the X-Pro1 (& X100 series).
      For me, it simply lacked the ERF you get in the X-Pro2 (as well as X100T & X100F) which is, for me, a big deal.. I prefer having it up to confirm focus while using the OVF. AND you can manually focus using the OVF with the ERF using native Fujinon lenses.
      It's not in the most ideal location, would prefer it if they could have made that little EVF float in the middle of the viewfinder like a "real" rangefinder has a focusing patch in the center, but it's about as good a place as possible being in the lower right corner where you're most likely going to have some lens protruding into the OVF anyways. Might as well overlay the ERF where there's OVF blockage with most lenses.
      And, the EVF in the X-Pro1 (& X100) was old tech and laggy enough to either cause me to miss a shot or make me concentrate harder to keep up with even the mildest action. I personally feel the X-Pro1 was always a step behind than where I wanted to be. In low light, even harder as it slows down more and gets noisier. And, the focus peaking (with only 1 setting) andlower EVF resolution, it was still tricky to nail and confirm focus, again, even more so when the light levels drop and EVF gets noisier.
      Yes, there's always zone focusing as a technique to focus and make a shot faster, but I really wanted the features and tech in the camera to work and to actually use.. not to ignore or to set aside because there's another way... you could look for just about any other camera if all you plan to do the majority of the time is zone focus shooting.
      So, those 2 aspects of the X-Pro1's hybrid viewfinder were what make me do back flips and applaud Fujifilm for finally enhancing them both in the X-Pro2. For me, it's a much better shooting experience over the X-Pro1.
      The cost between the X-Pro2 and X-Pro1 is huge now.. many $100's you could save, but for me, totally worth it and necessary to get what the X-Pro2 offers.
      However, with those few things in mind, if you believe you are methodical enough, not planning to shoot really fast (at least not with the slower tech in the camera), can learn to adjust and be satisfied with the limitations I pointed out about the older gen hybrid viewfinder, then you can definitely still have fun getting great images from the X-Pro1.

    Everybody has to get used to the viewfinder concept of the fuji or leica for example. Ergonomics are not the same as you find at the xt2 or the dslrs. So be patient using the xpro or xpro2! When I started with the xpro it was very hard for me but now I prefer using my xpro. It is not a camera for people who like to switch a camera on and use it like they have used it for years. Maybe it is slower in every way but it helps you to think more about a photo before you shoot. That's good!

    Nice video, seems like a nice honest person, 1 good point made about using DSLR for commercial over mirrorless, but this video isn't really qualified or makes sense. The Xpro-2 soon to be replaced with Xpr3 in May 2019 has the same sensor and technology -minus 1 built in filter i wished the XT had, the a EVF as does the XT2 have an incredible EVF contra to your comment and it does the same job. What i would say though being a black and white photographer, is in some cases the Xpro series might pull of better black and white works by small margin The XT 2 does have a better user interface, function buttons and a tilt screen. Once you start using a tilt you might say its nice, bu later on you will say its super nice and incredibly useful especially for street works when you need to be less obvious with people shooting. The Xpro2 now had 4k video, but in all credit to the kinds gent here, it was updated long after this video was made. The better camera unfortunately is the Xt-2 but by only about 9 critical facts which might not suit all people.

    Fuji is super awesome camera system. I'm an X-Pro2 fan and that's because of the form factor and image quality results. Has been proved in professional environment and it works perfectly. XT2? well, is Fuji, so is really cool too, but not that discrete as the Xpro2 is, specially in documentary photography or street photography, that is the style that I made often.

    good video but make more struggle more between xt2 and xpro2. Coz I have D7000 and not prefer to drop it off. but xt2 seem have better performance but xpro2 appearance is attractive more...

    whats your thoughts on the x pro 1 ? for starters if i can't afford the x pro 2 right now

      Patrick Cazer having shot with X-E1, X-PRO1, X-T1, and X-Pro2, I think a used T1 would be best value. Fuji made substantial leaps in performance from the first gen cameras to the second gen, like X-T1. This is particularly striking in the overall responsiveness of the camera: how quick it is to focus, the lag tag between taking a shot and when the EVF comes back, the shutter lag, etc. The X-T1 always felt sharp and responsive, whereas I always found the first gen cameras sluggish. So I would go X-Pro1 if the hybrid viewfinder and rangefinder look is the most important feature (though consider X100s or t) but otherwise X-T1 would be my top pick among older fuji models. That said, I have a buddy who’s rocked an X-Pro1 from the start, still loves it! Hope that helps

    I was so close to getting into the fujifilm game but I ended up going with the d750. I just really wanted to get into the fullframe game and I wasnt a huge fan of EVFs in general

      I went the opposite way. I was torn between a D750 and an X100F (as an upgrade from a D7200) and ended up going for the smaller, lighter camera since I was going travelling and didn't want to carry around a ton of gear.

    I have similar opinion.. I choose X70 to fill something my Nikon can't provide.. I choose X70 because it's small, have fix lens and no view finder! no brand can provide all what we need..

    So why not switch to a sony a7ii/ iii where you have full frame, awesome autofocus and image quality? You can do 4k video, photography, it can really do it all, you can ditch your nikon and the fuji, use one camera for everything, a body that is cheaper than dslrs, and better.

      Maybe Evan wants an even lighter load. Lighter than Dslrs and a full-frame mirrorless. And having one camera that does it all, is not necessarily the best choice. Thus, pro-photogs don’t only have one camera body

    As much as I’d want an xpro, I’d have to sell my xt2, laowa 105mm f/2, 35mm f/2, and the booster grip just to have enough money to get it. That leaves me with a 16mm 1.4…

    Mostly right but the X-T2 is quicker to focus how? The main differences are around ergonomics and that one has the transitioning traditional DSLR shooter in mind. And one is targeted towards the primarily still shooter who will almost never shoot video. Sans the bulky grip, they are largely the same camera inside....again neglecting video. Different tools. 'Better' is subjective in this case.

      Either way, great perspective and video.

    A camera is more than just it's specs on paper. The X-Pro2 is a better camera than the X-T2, depending on what you want from a camera.

    X-Pro2 w/18mm f2 blows the Leica Q out of the water and is $2500 cheaper.

      Chloe Scanlon Leica Q is a prosumer camera, point and shoot...
      If you want to compare, than go with Leica M9, M10...
      But I do agree on a price point, to me Leica is like a Rolls Royce of cameras, just like Hasselblads, Fuji is more like drive around Honda’s ☺️
