Hi Maryam, by any chance you can share the brand of the cake pan that you're using? I'm already in NZ so if you don't mind sharing where you got them it'd be great! Thanks 😊
Hi Chloe! :) The pans I use in this video specifically are from Gilmours here in NZ :) Wilton pans and Propans work well as well and I've got a link to the Wilton one in the description box :)

Good morning! Thank you so much for this recipe 😊 I have a question: could cornstarch be omitted? Or is it necessary? Thank you so much again for sharing! 🎉
Hi MK. Tried lemon, vanilla and coffee cake. Just question on soft brown sugar. I used stand mixer and noticed it doesnt combine easily? Any advice pl. Well done with all your lovely recipes
I love your recipes! I was wondering if you tried making pistachio cream/butter. I’m trying to recreate the “viral Dubai pistachio kunafa chocolate bar”. I’d love to see how you would make the pistachio cream as it is pretty pricy to buy! Thank you!
Thanks so much! :D The baking soda is important for the rise of the cake so I would recommend using it. You could try replacing it with a extra teaspoon of baking powder but for best results I'd recommend sticking to the baking soda :)
Hello. So crushed pineapple is not available in india. We get pineapple rings in a can. So how much pinapple by weighr should i take and crush and how much juice ?
Hi there! :) I would weigh out mostly pineapple with a bit of the juice (maybe like 2 tbsp of pineapple juice and the rest is just the pineapple). Hope that helps :)
Hi MK 👋 whenever I try to add the cream cheese cold, instead of room temperature, I get little lumps of cream cheese in my buttercream. I’ve tried several times. Any hints? Thanks 🙏
Heya! :) Do you use a hand or stand mixer? This usually happens if using a stand mixer. If you're using the paddle attachment to make the frosting, I'd first recommend changing over to the whisk attachment and seeing if that helps :) I would also recommend whipping the cream cheese first until it's smooth, and then set it aside and continue the recipe as stated :)
Hi Maryam, I would like to know if you have a pineapple buttercream frosting recipe that you would like to share with your youtube family? My daughter's birthday is two weeks away and she requested a double layer pineapple upside down cake with buttercream frosting. My plan is to make 2 pineapple upside down cakes, then put some frosting in between the cakes and on top I'm going to make some frosting swirls, just like your cake. I hope you see this in time, Please and thank you!!
😊 Hello MK nice to see you have showen Hummingbird cake this is very old traditional cake receipe again you have made awesome cake. Replace Eggs to a Yougur and buttermilk and add apple juice comes out same texture and soft😊😊 kind regards
Hummingbird cake gets its name from Jamaica, where the hummingbird is the national bird and is also known as "doctor bird". The cake is sometimes called "doctor bird cake" in Jamaica, and the cake's tropical flavors and origins may also be a reference to the island. Another theory is that the cake is named after the bird because it's sweet enough to attract hummingbirds, which only eat nectar. The cake's origins can be traced back to the 1960s, when the Jamaica Tourist Board included a recipe for the cake in a press kit sent to US media to promote the island's produce and encourage journalists to visit. The recipe was for an unfrosted Bundt cake that used tropical ingredients like banana and pineapple, and was later picked up by Helen Moore, the food editor at The Charlotte Observer, who published it in 1969. In the 1970s, Mrs. L.H. Wiggins from North Carolina also submitted a hummingbird cake recipe to Southern Living Magazine, which helped make the cake a popular dessert in the Southern United States. Hummingbird cake is a dense and moist spice cake with a sweet, fruity, and spicy flavor that some say is a combination of banana bread and carrot cake. It often includes ingredients like banana, pineapple, pecans, cinnamon, vanilla, and eggs, and is often served with cream cheese frosting.
The banana is one of the main ingredients that distinguishes this as a "Hummingbird Cake", so it would be best to leave it in. Plus, the banana adds moisture to the cake, and the flavour compliments the pineapple and pecans well.

Can I substitute pecans nut to walnuts ? I don't have pecans here 😅
I'd use any kind of nuts😂... Pecans are so expensive here if you see them
Yes you could totally do that! I've made this cake with walnuts before too :)
Does the pecans need to be roasted first ?
Nope! :)
Ooooooohhh yesssssss
What temp did you bake them at??
180C (350F) :) I mention it at the beginning of the video when preparing the pans :)
Please make crab cakes next 🦀
If I half all the ingredients in the recipe would that work to get a smaller version?
Yes totally! Halving the recipe will make one 8 inch cake :) or two 6 inch cakes for a layer cake :)
Please we would like to share with us English cake recipe (dry fruit)

I have a question. These ingredients are enough for one pan?
No..@2.50mins she's divided the mixture between 2 pans.. the size of pans she gives at the beginning
I have made her cakes in a bundt pan. It worked instead of 2
Can i omit the banana
