IMPORTANT: In the video I mention 90g or 3/4s of a cup of milk, however it should be 90g or 5½ tbsp of milk! So sorry about that don't know how I got that wrong! Thank you so much to everyone who brought that to my attention :)
I made this cake last week and it was good. I probably should have taken it out the oven at 30 min but I was afraid it wouldn’t be done so I left it in for the last 5 min. Still came out good. I left a comment on your blog pg. My tweaks was adding an orange simple syrup for each layer and I added in pure orange extract in the frosting and syrup. Absolutely delicious! My next one I’m trying is the husband hate chocolate cake recipe. lol I’m the same-not a chocolate cake fan but I’m trying it for an Easter cake for the kids. Wish me luck. Thanks for great recipes. 😊
@@zeenatsadiyah5159 Hi there :) I receive so many comments so it's really hard to keep up with them and reply to all of them sorry! Yes you can freeze the cake layers if wrapped well in 2 layers of cling wrap and placed into an airtight container :) let them thaw and come to room temp before frosting. Because the frosting has cream cheese, it's best not to freeze the frosting :) enjoy!
MK I just lined some pans and got out all my baking ingredients to make your lemon cake for my brothers birthday today. I was just double checking the ingredients list on your page for that cake and came across this recipe. Change of plan! Orange cake it is! So glad I came across this JUST in time. ❤
Hi, I just wanted to say, thank you! Your videos are amazing and are the only ones that I can follow step by step and make it right. I did this cake and it turned out great. Your videos are making it possible for me to actually make it.
I made this cake today without the frosting, and I can tell it was delicious. I poured in two different cake moulds, one round and the other one in a loaf tin. My children almost finished them. I had to warn them to save me some for tomorrow's breakfast. Thank you very much for sharing!
Commenting from Malaysia 🇲🇾 I baked this cake last week using your recipe. It turned out scrumptious!! Gave some to my neighbour & colleagues. They loved it. Thanks MK. Keep making more recipe with simple ingredients ❤
tried this twice already and my family loved it! I used a combination of whipped cream and creamcheese for the frosting and it taste great 😊 thank you for the recipe
I love all your recipes and the way you explain without waisting time. I have tried most of the recipes from you it really turns out so good my family loved it. Thanks for sharing dear. Can I have an eggless cake with the same recipe please that will be great I appriciate if you can dear❤️
Thank you so much Neha! So happy to hear you're loving the recipes :D I haven't tried this recipe as an eggless version so can't recommend any substitutes at this stage sorry! But will keep a recipe in mind for future videos :)
SobhanAllah I came across your lemon cake recipe but I can't eat too much lemon because... Heartburn lol so I was thinking of replacing the lemon with orange but now I just need to follow this recipe. Thank you!
Hahaha love it!! So glad your family loved the recipe :D If you manage to find a spare minute I'd be so so grateful if you can kindly leave a review on my blog (if you haven't already), it really helps my content out :) Thanks so much for giving the cake a go!

Mk i would love to request you to please show a Biscoff cake ❤❤❤ n im just a huge huge fan of ur recipes ❤❤ loads of love and blessings, Cassie from Goa, India ❤❤
I love watching you make cakes and listening to your lovely voice. Then I made your orange cake but it turned out firm and dense. I have always mixed in the dry ingredients with my hand mixer and the cakes have always turned out moist and soft. So I wonder if when I just hand folded in the dry flour, etc that is why it was heavy. I don’t know. Any ideas would be helpful. But I will try a different recipe because I love watching your videos.
Hello MK ! I tried your eggless vanilla recipe three times it turned so good everything was just perfect in every attempt ! I want to make this recipe eggless again what should I do to replace the eggs ? And would the method be same for chocolate sponge as well ?
I just finished making your orange cake 🧡🧡🧡 I'm sure yours was better than mine but it was delicious I wish I was better at cake decorating That cake deserves to have a nice decorated finish
Started baking 3 weeks ago, first channel i've subscribed too. I keep here people say cups, Oz, spoons and being brand new I jsut feel like screaming tell me in grams... urs helps a lot.. also realized i really should be mixing before adding the liquid as well... well no experience does that.
Does the orange cream cheese frosting go well whith the cake just asking because i will be making them for my family and they like things to be kinda you know perfect
Heyyy , i love your videos !!! You are really talented . I have a question , why you don’t use Swiss meringue buttercream instead of American buttercream for your cake ? Do you have a particular reason ?
Hi there! :) If you have a larger cake tin (about 10inches or so) then you can do it in one tin, but if the cake tin is around 8 inches, then I would recommend halving the recipe :)
Hello MK. Thank you for this video and recipe. I plan to make this. However I don't have 8 inch cake tins and plan to use a (9 x 5) loaf tin instead. But how do I adjust the quantity of ingredients so that I'm not using too much flour and too much eggs and too much butter? Hope you (or anyone who knows the answer to this mystery) can help. Thanks.
Hi there! :) For that sized cake tin, 1x this recipe will likely be too much. I would recommend halving the recipe (or even making 2/3rds if you're comfortable with recalculating the quantities). When adjusting the recipe, I would recommend adjusting all the ingredients, not just the flour/eggs etc :) Alternatively, you could just make 1x the recipe and use any extra batter to make some cupcakes on the side :) hope you enjoy the recipe!
@@CakesbyMK Thanks for replying MK. Eventually, do you know what I did? I just went out and bought two 8 inch pans and followed your recipe to the letter. It was a hit. My kids loved it!
Hi dear, I tried your recipe and it came out to be yummy. Only problem was that it sank in the centre and was too soft to hold the shape. Hence, cracked a bit when I tried demoulding it. I tried your lemon cake recipe as well and it went too bad as it sank completely in the centre. Any suggestions dear bcz I tried both the recipes two times? Too bad because all your recipes are just yummy.
Hello Mk Thank you for sharing your baking tips I love baking but I am new to it I will definitely be trying your recipes. With the orange cake which I have been wanting to make I want to know if you have any baking suggestions for using fresh orange slices or even mandarin slices in cake.
180°C,30 minutes 2 1/4 cup plain flour 1/3 cup corn starch 2 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup unsalted butter 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1 1/4 cup sugar 3 teaspoon orange zest 3 large eggs 3/4 cup milk 1/2 cup orange juice 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Thank you for the videos! I have a question.. why do some of your recipes use milk versus buttermilk? Does it have to do with texture? And also could you add a teaspoon of vinegar in this recipe like you do your others? Thank you😊
Hi there! Great question :D yes so it's mostly to do with texture and the amount of acidity in a recipe. I also try to use milk where I can (instead of buttermilk) so that the recipe is more accessible to people around the world. So if I feel milk on its own (or with vinegar) instead of buttermilk does the job, I go with that :) and yes technically you could add vinegar to this recipe but it's quite soft and very moist already so I would recommend leaving it out for this recipe :)
Hi there! :) Technically you can do that, however the orange zest does add great orange flavor to the cake, so without it you will have less orange flavor :)
this cake si sooooo good...I made a 1/2 recipe for 3 reasons A: we only have 2 people here that eat cake and a 2 layer cake would be too much for only 2 people eating it... B: as a single layer, we can just eat it plain. without the icing and C: I only have 1 x 8 inch round pan...I have lots of larger options, but didn't want to use a recipe for 2 x 8 inch layers in 2 x 9 inch pans because then the layers would be too thin.... anyway, a 1/2 recipe worked just fine
Yay!! So so happy to hear you loved it and that the 1/2 batch worked great :D if you manage to find a spare minute i'd be so so grateful if you can kindly leave a review on my blog, it really helps my content out :D thanks so much again for trying the recipe :)
