Greetings from the Seychelles. I have baked the red velvet cake for my husband’s birthday last Saturday and it was amazing. The cake lasted for only two days. My husband loves homemade cakes and will give you his honest critics. His critics were 9.5 out of 10 simply because I needed to improve on my frosting. was the frosting good? I always get scared of putting butter in my frostings bc one time i did that and when the butter cooled down, it could be seen and the taste was weird

I made this cake today using self raising flour(because cake flour and cornstarch aren't the easiest to access in the UK) ,I also sprinkled a bit of coffee powder and OMG it is the most delicate and fluffy cake I have ever had ,so good ,I would defo recommend.Tastes so good!Thank u MK,I love how u don't waffle😂
I tried your recipe, the cake came out so well! The video had clear instructions with measures made it easy for a non baker like to try it. And my family LOVED the cake. I got compliments and everybody was surprised how well I made it. The only thing in my opinion was to omit the addition of lemon juice to the frosting as it was already sweet+ sour , other than that perfect!!

So I came back to make this recipe again a year later after I tested it last year using the 8 inch cake tins. This time I made this recipe using two 6 inch cake tins as I was making it as part of my dessert spread for an Eid gathering and didn’t want too much cake. This recipe produced two perfectly risen 6inch cakes that filled the tins perfectly, nice flat tops no need to trim anything. Stored one in the freezer and used one cut into three slices for a layered tall cake and it was perfect!!! Not crumbly using the smaller tin and it stayed soft even straight out of the fridge when serving! Love this recipe for my 6inch tins it’s definitely a keeper!!! Everyone complimented the flavour and texture of the sponge and I can’t stop raving about your recipes! Do we have a book in the pipeline I’d like to put in a preorder!!!

Absolutely amazing recipe. I threw away my first cake recipe that I also found somewhere on the internet, fully a waste of time for my birthday girl. Then I found THIS recipe, which is stunning, really amazing. The only thing is that I adjusted my cake to be less sweet, way less, and it's still so sweet. Just add a bit more cream cheese for frosting. But follow the recipe, she has done an art. Beautiful. Definitely on TOP of the List cake! Well done.

Cornstarch is known as cornflower in the UK. Got some in Tesco last week.

Looks amazing! I believe the reason the cakes are so tender and moist is because you fold in the flour by hand!! My dear sweet Mom told me this when I was young, she always did her cakes this way and Boy oh Boy they were the best!!

BOUL 1
2+1/4 cup-flour
3 tbs -corn starch
3tbs-coco pouder
1/2ts- baking soda
1ts- baking powder
1/2- ts salt
BOUL 2 (MIX em)
6tbs- unsalted butter
3quarter of a cup-shada tel
3quarter of a cup-granulated sugar
Crack 3 eggs into the MIX
1tbs-vanila extract
1/2-tea spoon of vinegar
ADD BOUL 1 TO BOUL 2 +butter milk (DON'T OVER MIX)

Add two tablespoons of white vinegar to a cup of regular milk and you will get buttermilk

So I came back to make this recipe again a year later after I tested it last year using the 8 inch cake tins. This time I made this recipe using two 6 inch cake tins as I was making it as part of my dessert spread for an Eid gathering and didn’t want too much cake. This recipe produced two perfectly risen 6inch cakes that filled the tins perfectly, nice flat tops no need to trim anything. Stored one in the freezer and used one cut into three slices for a layered tall cake and it was perfect!!! Not crumbly using the smaller tin and it stayed soft even straight out of the fridge when serving! Love this recipe for my 6inch tins it’s definitely a keeper!!! Everyone complimented the flavour and texture of the sponge and I can’t stop raving about your recipes! Do we have a book in the pipeline I’d like to put in a preorder!!!

Absolutely amazing recipe. I threw away my first cake recipe that I also found somewhere on the internet, fully a waste of time for my birthday girl. Then I found THIS recipe, which is stunning, really amazing. The only thing is that I adjusted my cake to be less sweet, way less, and it's still so sweet. Just add a bit more cream cheese for frosting. But follow the recipe, she has done an art. Beautiful. Definitely on TOP of the List cake! Well done.
