New 585hp Mercedes-AMG GT revealed!

- Say hello to the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT!
Mat’s flown over to Austria to get up close and personal with the new GT 63, and he’s about to take you on a tour of this all-new super sports car!
Regarding the design, the GT is based on the AMG SL. Around the rear are some similarities to the SL, such as the black glossy trim on the bumper and the diffuser - although the GT’s diffuser is more complex than that on the SL! Along the sides, the doors have been smoothed compared to the old GT, and it also comes with flush door handles. Up top, the GT is equipped with AMG’s Panamericana Grille and there’s a pair of air intakes under the headlights.
Step inside and the most notable thing is that the GT is now a four-seater! Sure, it’s pretty cramped in the back but gone are the days when the standard GT was only available with 2 seats. Elsewhere, the interior is pretty similar to the SL. It comes with the same seats, as well as the same infotainment set-up and digital dials. It also comes with a glass roof!
Then we come to the engine, and under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can deliver 585hp and 800Nm! Moreover, there’s no hybrid technology to be found here - the all-new GT is 100% petrol-powered!
We don’t know the price yet, but you can guarantee it’s likely to be relatively similar to the SL, and when you consider the AMG SL 63 costs over £171,000, it’s unlikely to come cheap! But will it be worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

At a buffet, I personally sneak corn into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 boiled corn ears in my jacket pockets. It is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corn thinking they were part of the buffet.

Mat was definitely consumer-conscious during this interview. Most car RUclipsrs just praise every car they feature especially when a staff member is present.

I'm not sure I'd call him charismatic (he is German, after all), but he did a great job and it shows that he is very much into what he's doing.
Genuinely don't think I've seen a car review with a member from the company that was as entertaining as this. At this point it feels like I've seen every car video on RUclips and this one really stands out above the others, congratulations on a really fun video!

@@chips2729 Because this is a sports coupe, and a lot of customers prefer rear seats even if they are very tight than no rear seats at all. Kids and shorter adults can sit there. You can take your dog with you.
You can also put small bags, purses, laptops etc on the rear seats and quickly get to them. Far more convenient than putting them in a boot.
Mercedes loves to compare it to the 911 so he’s just doing the same
@@adfasfuiuiui1056I disagree; two seats is always the best configuration for sports cars. Making it a 2+2 adds unnecessary weight, restricts front space and usually spoils the exterior lines of the car's design because of the back seats' headroom. But I can understand that Merc-AMG want to compete with Porsche and give them props for managing to keep the exterior lines sporty, despite the back seats arrangement.

Anyone who can afford this car can afford those options easily, so costing extra isn't much of a concern.

I liked that you went into detail for each part of the car, and that you weren't afraid of asking hard questions or being critical of certain aspects of the car. That's what most consumers who are considering one of these cars want to know.

I absolutely love when people are open like this, Matheus wasn't afraid to say they are a company and packages are another way of bringing in money. It shows transparency between the buyer and the manufacturer.

This is a great interview that went with the review. Car reviewers definitely need to do more questions & answers with the manufacturer and throw questions at them on behalf of the consumer. No tiptoes.

It has fake exhaust pipes and weights almost two tons, where is that better than a 911? The AMG GT should be a sports car and it has an automatic opening trunk lid? All the sensors, motors and things a sports car doesn’t need? I feel like this is more for people who like to seem sporty but in reality it’s more of a limousine in the design of a Coupé.
This car is beyond beautiful. It’s absolutely stunning to look at. Can’t wait to see it drive

This car is just beautiful. Matheus showed he knows everything about the Car. Also showed how great professional he is to deal with all those questions and comparisions with the other car brands, while responding quite well and selling his own product. If we take the professional as an example, Mercedez has been doing a great job.

I love this redesign. It's not a huge change from before which is great because the original looked amazing in my opinion. The only thing I don't really like is the tail lights being connected in the middle, but most brands are doing this at the minute, so it makes sense for them to do i to fit in.
The redesign looked like Shelby Mustang 1968.
The original is timeless like the 911, so repeating it and modernizing it was a no brainer. I will always love the first gen GT but this new one is great and I think it will grow on me.

Realistic back seat functionality demonstration. Also was hilarious. Still doubt many of the back seats will ever see backsides in them though.
The rear end looks really good! I especially love the taillights, it's like Mercedes took what is good from the EQS taillights and previous gen GT taillights and combined them.

Love how honest and down to earth the Mercedes manager was. Him and Matt were connecting very well this video. I still prefer the first gen AMG GT however I do like how the new one has kept similar styling and design language and of course the V8.
For the last few years the AMG GT 4 door has been my dream obtainable one day car, but i think this just took top spot! Wow!!

It's good they didn't mess around with the V8 like they did with the new C63. As an AMG guy I'm happy. Job well done with the design.
I've hard that in facelift model of c63 they will bring back v8 cause of cold reaction of comunity and poor selling
but for me is better to make it hybrid and less cylinder. even though this is a car for the rich, but for me who can also afford it, I think hybrids should be in all supercars, fuel is too expensive now, so it makes me lazy to drive.
at least they make a V6 engine like the AMG one not inline 4, and if possible the engine capacity is 2000cc turbo hybrid.
I'm sure if it's a 2000cc v6 bi turbo hybrid, then the car won't be too heavy but has the performance of a large cc.

I doubt anyone who can afford an amg is worried about fuel consumption. The value proposition for a top range merc is totally different from those at a low to mid range.
