This is the most attention-grabbing car I've ever driven!

- Meet the Human Horizons HiPhi Z!
It’s an all-new luxury car that’s come straight from China, and it’s absolutely loaded with tech. What’s more, it looks unlike any car we’ve seen before! But is it more style over substance?
Well when it comes to the design, this is easily one of the most eye-catching cars we’ve ever driven! The outside of the car is covered in thousands of LED lights, that make it possible to show images & text at either the front, side, or rear of the car! It also comes with elements of purple trim which help it to stand out even more, and the front of the car is covered in a number of aggressively-styled vents and aero bits. If anything, it’s giving us some GT-R vibes!
Step inside and the luxury vibes are clear to see. There are soft-touch materials throughout, and the seats are super comfortable and come with massage functions. There’s also a massive infotainment screen up front, which is used to control nearly everything in this car. But thankfully, it’s super fast and comes with great graphics. It even adjusts itself to be pointing at the driver depending on the position of your seat!
So while the car is packed full of tech, it’s a much simpler story when it comes to the engine. The HiPhi Z comes with just one battery and motor combo - dual electric motors and a 120kWh battery which are good for 672hp and 820Nm along with a range of up to 438 miles.
So it’s oh-so eye-catching, and so is the price! The HiPhi Z starts from around £90,000. But given it looks so unique, is it clearly worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

The beeping sound probably comes from the safety system which hasn't been calibrated for the UK road yet as it thinks you are driving on the wrong side of the road.
Yep. I see the similarities between this car on Carwow, to J-Coupe, one of the 36 cars in Burnout Dominator.
THANK YOU!! I was going crazy trying to figure out what it could have been. That makes sense!
I can’t believe the carwow crew couldn’t figure it out, plus they even attributed the beeping as a flaw😢
Yeah, you might be right that the safety systems weren't calibrated for right-hand drive countries.
however the beeping stopped at one point so its probably not from that
How overstyled do you want your car to be? Yes
Looks like a car from Detroit Become Human 🤖
This looks like Chinese music sounds.

The car can seriously be better without the stupid led panel in the doors. the ones in front and back are super cool.
And the wheel covers keeps whobbling like crazy, its triggering my adhd.
Did u see the squat it made when it hard accelerate!! They gotta fine tune the real geometry to make it antisquat!
They should remove the window regulator switches to analog, its just over the top!
Yet it somehow looks awesome
Since it’s not sold in the UK, I’d imagine the beeping is just the lane departure system warning you that you’re a lunatic driving on the wrong side of the road.
just turn the lidar 180 degrees and the problem is solved, oh wait, what if it would still beep to tell you are driving upsidedown? XD
The color mix is also ugly
Pedestrian warning sound effect, automatically shut down when exceeding 30KM/H
I'm surpirsed everytime I see this car on the streets of Shanghai. Catches everyones attention and looks super wide, massive and techy!

I love how goofy & unique it is. 9/10. It’s as if a GT-R and I-Pace had a kid that ran away from home at 18, got three PhDs in China, and now runs a multimillion $ corp from home 3 days /wk so it has time for a semi-pro gaming career

In fact, with this machine, you can manually adjust the direction of the air flows :) On the climate settings screen, you need to move the drawn air flows :) You literally press the air flow on the screen and pull it where you want it to blow.
I was surprised they couldn't figure that one out, even if it is pretty obvious, given the manufacturer copied so much UI design from Tesla.
ux designer here, yep they shouldve put arrow signs to let people know they can touch it.
But that's still an abysmal design though... (Granted, I am happy you shared that at least it can do it). But still. Literally having to go into an infotainment menu to adjust the direction of the air vents is one of the worst ideas (relative to the subject at hand) I've ever heard of. If not being able to adjust them at all is the baseline at 0/10, then having to use a menu system is maybe at best a 1.5/10; if the needed menu is within 1 or 2 button presses.
I've been following the current generation of chinese cars, and boy am I impressed. From the very advanced but still raw like HiPhi, to the absolutely ready Nio, to the scandi chic Zeeker, to the volume king BYD and the delightful ocean line. I'm VERY impressed with what China can do.
It’s all because of the deadly competition in Chinese car market…it’s relentless…
The only complain i seem to have with modern chinese cars, they are so damn awful at naming and brands.
They need something short but easy to remember, like honda civic, etc. SOmehow china always likes to create bazillion different names and companies for similar or the same products (their electric scooters, example). Otherwise i love the design and they went leaps and are actually interesting and awesome cars now.
Dont forget lynk and co by geely and volvo
Thanks to extremely picky Chinese when it comes to cars. Only champions stay, and they should be able to do well in the global market
@@fukuoka33Culture is sort of only for gas cars tho, we Chinese already missed that period since when the culture was cooking in Europe and US, most of Chinese back then couldn’t even afford enough protein like meat and fish. If you show my mother in Shanghai a Ferrari Testrossa today, she would think it’s absolutely gorgeous and will really love it. But if you show her the first gen Tesla model S, she would consider it out dated despite the fact that the Testrossa came way way before the first model S. Tech evolves fast, if you put them in cars then it would soon be old without the culture even forming. On the contrary, if you put no tech in the cabin, it would be timeless for sure, like for example a Bugatti, but it just wouldn’t be practical as a car which you would drive to the market in city Traffic where you probably want the car to drive itself.
Although I'm not personally a big fan of the design, it's hard to argue with the social proof of the design. If people are guessing that it's worth over 2x the actual price and whenever you drive it, you get swarmed by people, it's a pretty decent value proposition off of design alone. Even hypercars don't get that much attention.
That being said, the glitches suck pretty hard, but the specs seem decent. Hopefully, they get it all sorted by the release date in 2025.
NO.

According to a Toyota Times interview with the Japanese company’s newly established BEV Factory’s president, Takero Kato, he was shocked during a business trip to China.
“For the first time, I came face to face with the competitiveness of Chinese components,” Kato said. “In China, they were not simply learning and applying technologies, but also rapidly transforming manufacturing.”
“Laying eyes on equipment that I had never seen in Japan and their state-of-the-art manufacturing, I was struck by a sense of crisis - ’We’re in trouble!’ At the same time, I began to think that I would like to spend the rest of my career in China,” he added.

Other traditional auto manufacturers would really have to up the game to stay competitive.
Remember that Top Gear episode about the Chinese car market and how shonky they were 25 years ago? This is unbelievable progress. It just looks like a concept car. Incredible that this is available to buy!! Nice one Matt! Great scoop.

I actually love the design, as out there and different as it is. It's nice to see cars that look different from the dreadfully monotonous SUV copycat vibe every company goes for, and a lot of hatchbacks have the same shape.
This is out there, and very well polished. I hope more companies go down this path of unique creations. Cars at the moment are dreadfully similar with each other, and all some shade of black/white/grey.
It looks beautiful like a crossover between a sedan and a hatchback hate the cabin and the black strips down the side though
I wholeheartedly agree
You go off topic with color. But the jaguar i-pace and acura zdx both have this shape.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a car design that made me do a double take. Cool stuff!
The next generation of cars will be extreme, with more participants to the auto industry.
Building an engine, a transmission, mechanical drive trains etc have made the 20th century auto industry so hard to enter.
But now, its almost as easy as making a phone. A phone with an electric moto.
The most complex thing is the battery and e-motor. Everything else is style, software and workmanship.

honestly, i havent seen such a beautiful car in long long time, so stylish and so sporty, so cool and so futuristic, im just sad because i wish it was a car with a petrol engine not an electric engine
They could have spread the features and details of this car across three models, but instead they shoved it all into one. It looks like a running shoe, or something, I kinda like it. It's nice to see Chinese carmakers experimenting with different designs, and not being constrained by unimaginative suits that don't like change because it's "risky".
Aesthetically nice looking car, it's definitely different, and people have been asking for different... I think people will bash the car just on the sole reason that it's Chinese; but personally, i don't care, if a car is an all round good car, i couldn't care less were it comes from; which brings me to were i will bash the car, they should fix the minor issues like the charging stuff.
and also major issues like safety, similar to tesla.
Well said
Pp in the west are affected by fake news propaganda. All mainstream brands have factories in China so basically China has the most experienced automotive engineers and workers.
I somewhat bash it because there are loads of new companies, like this, like Jetour, like BYD, and others, all popping out cars like crazy. Which, is very interesting, especially how much of a competition they are becoming to Tesla. - But I haven't seen the long term of these cars or the brand, And enough Chinese car companies are also going bankrupt at similar rates. - lets not forget that this hiphi is a company that started making cars in late 2020, early 2021.. you're essentially buying from a "start up" without the pedigree or proven reliability/support.
And I'd like to know that when I purchase a car, I can have support for the next 8-10 years. But purchasing a lesser known Chinese brand in Europe comes with it's own challenges as they are still quite exclusive. Like dealers, maintenance, support. It's similar to buying a Ford F150 Raptor in Europe.. you'd struggle to find support, maintenance, tyres, etc. because it is such an uncommon car.
And, besides that, I've been in a few Chinese brands, and they do often feel quite cheap compared to European brands. Materials, button feel, operating system etc.
That interior!! 😍🤌🏾

This car is bloody bonkers. Yeah, looks kinda fiddly and could use a bit of refinement and whatnot, but really looks like it's got some fun potential. Super cool car.
This is the second HiPhi, the first called HiPhi X is slighty even MORE bonkers. This Z is meant to be a high performance grand touring sedan. They just released the less bonkers HiPhi Y in China, which is cheaper and meant to be a more mainstream family crossover, like a crazy looking Model Y Performance. this car gave my many design choices similar to teslas... and that worries me if it will also have some safety missteps like them.
notably, the electric doors. the exterior doors when the fob was dead appeared to have zero way of actually sitting inside besides recharging it. that leaves zero mechanical way to open the doors from the outside, making that actually worse than teslas (as teslas are only stuck when the car is dead). i'm not even sure if this car has interior emergency release handles to exit the car.
