hard luck John you did your best from 2 crap swims if they a'int there you can't catch 'em mate, I real downer after working so hard to qualify but there's always another day. Thanks for another great video ,keep smiling.
I don't know theses professionals bank runner's lol, pike are a pain sometimes, and you nearly fell in again, what are you like, your runner nearly fell on your pole I don't know can't get the staff lol, Thank you John 👍👍bad luck
Excellent video as always shame about the fishing but can't win em all, I suppose. I've been watching some of your older content on the Derwent, we just joined Hull DAA and have been watching your bolo videos at Sutton, and stuff from Stamford Bridge - excellent videos, as I'm very interested in Derwent fishing. Tight lines.
Unlucky on the draw again there mate, you did nothing wrong there, well done on getting to the final, I’m sure next time your luck will change. Another well made vid and I’ll see you at wasp city 😉
Unlucky mate, bad draws and pike troubles, plus your mate wittering on while you were trying to fish and film 🙄 at least you qualified for the final and good luck next year 👍
Bad luck John your pegs weren’t good enough to give you any chance 😭but at least you qualified and gave it your best 👍🏻better luck and draws next year 😎
Unlucky with the two day day mate, but getting to the final is a feat in itself, that stretch on day two looked as barren as coney st at 4am,maybe next year 👍
Yes, maybe should have got the 24ft rod out on day one and run a big bolo further across the river to find more flow and the fish that may well have been hanging back but I had a total of 8 pike attacks so it was never going to settle.
Hard weekend John And the pole didn’t stay were it was for long as a temporary roller was set up with two bag ( what happened to the second roller John 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣)
Hi John, could you please give me any info about the Mirfield stretch of the Calder to be used on the Riverfest Qualier this weekend.Noted pegs to draw, species, methods and baits.Any help would be much appreciated.Great videos by the way.
Hi Jeff, it's not a section Ive fished before but I think it varies quite a bit. The flyers are below the weir at the ship inn, dace and chub pegs on waggler stick bomb or blockend feeder across to the trees, so good in fact they may not peg them. Other than that I think it's roach and perch fishing on pretty much any float method you prefer. Kayleigh did a video there last year and Paul did one on the chub pegs, should give you an idea of what to expect. ruclips.net/video/cf7Bw6JCXP8/видео.html. ruclips.net/video/hBEPN6Y7Ei4/видео.html
I am mate, just not filming at present. I must have answered this question a hundred times so I'll refer you to a post on my Facebook page facebook.com/addictedtoangling. If you scroll down to 9th April post you'll get the picture. I'm in a better place now health wise but still got other challenges to overcome. While you're there give me a follow as I'm updating with blogs at the moment.
What's the logic behind that Patrick? Surely it's the small fish that attract them not the noise? I've always balled it in the past and never had an issue. I did the same thing at Woodnook in the bandits match, caught 125 fish that day and not one pike problem🤷♂️
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel There is no logic to it John. A hooked fish does not behave in a normal manner, it twists, turns, dives, wobbles, shakes as though it's in distress and it is this that attracts the predator. Lure anglers try to imitate the fish in distress activity and so does wobbling a deadbait. When you are reeling in, trying to land your hooked fish , you are in essence wobbling a livebait.
I didn't understand the question John, looked it up...no that was the stewards dog and the labrador is Chris's, such a well behaved dog, she sat as good as gold all weekend.
At 26.16 if that's a kerry blue in the shot surely? Mine used to love coming fishing with me. Always enjoy your videos John. Tough with all that pike activity.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel The rivers/lakes will still be there once your mended mate - I’m sure we’ll all feel much better when the sun makes an appearance soon ☀️🙂
I fished that peg you drew on day one, in a qualifier last year. It's poor . No flow, full of tiddlers and Pike. Awful. Apparently, you need to be well out to do any good on it. Hard luck pal, bad draw.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel remember it's not the winning, it's the taking part. I've seen a few videos of the final now and everybody knew where they didn't want to draw but somebody had to end up there.
Hope you ok John haven't see you in a long time, hope your ok 🤔🤔
I was coming on this video to comment the same thing? Any news ?

Cheers Dennis, I had no chance from those pegs in those conditions, hey ho, roll on Christmas.
Very lucky at 11:07 when your mate slipped whilst straddling your pole (that sounds really wrong 😱).
I don't know theses professionals bank runner's lol, pike are a pain sometimes, and you nearly fell in again, what are you like, your runner nearly fell on your pole I don't know can't get the staff lol, Thank you John 👍👍bad luck
At least the worst didn't happen James - fine lines but got home dry and with all the gear intact.
Wow you was lucky when your mate straddled your pole.....
Indeed - @Darren Brewster - you're sacked 🤣

You'll get a draw one day John, the second day was a real grueller to say the least
keep your head up mate...you'll smash it soon.
Yes it was poor. Will keep crossing my fingers. Off to buy some new 'lucky' socks. 🤣
Brilliant videos John, you’ve got me Hooked and I’ve no idea about fishing!
Cheers Dave, I haven't had time or energy to make them recently, need to get back to it.
At least you in the final John if you don't draw and have a bit luck as well, its tuff ,that's fishing mate 😁
That's it Mark, just gutting when you know there's no chance, I said it all along - I really don't want Mexborough.
That second day was a bit of a mare ' but I think you expected it , there's always next year John and you can do it all over again. . 👍
Definitely expected Martin, never wanted Mexborough full stop, it's rubbish without any colour in.
Unlucky on the draw again there mate, you did nothing wrong there, well done on getting to the final, I’m sure next time your luck will change. Another well made vid and I’ll see you at wasp city 😉
Cheers Ad, see ya Sunday .
Bad drawsjohn never mind mate taking part that counts thanks for the video much appreciated
Cheers James, someone has to draw bad, just happens to be me most of the time🤣
Hi John best of luck next year 🎄
Thanks Keith
Some bad draws there john done well second day you can only beat the anglers next to you and you did well done
Cheers Fred, it wasn't really worth the effort 2nd day, could quite easily have gone home after that draw but gave it a shot🤷♂️
Unlucky mate, bad draws and pike troubles, plus your mate wittering on while you were trying to fish and film 🙄 at least you qualified for the final and good luck next year 👍
Cheers Nigel, the boys couldn't help but natter, don't think it made much difference to be fair. All in a days challenges 😉
Unlucky mate we go again next year and Chris has a lovely face for radio
We do indeed Clinton. No comment on my Caddy 😉he kept me sane on day 2👍
Bad luck John your pegs weren’t good enough to give you any chance 😭but at least you qualified and gave it your best 👍🏻better luck and draws next year 😎
Cheers Rich I'm long overdue some decent draws.
We go again next year mate, all good experience.
Indeed we do Dom👍
Great vid mate. Mexborough looked a grueller, onwards and upwards cheers 👍🍺
Thanks 👍 It sure was!

It's probably busier on Coney street at 4am 🤣. I hate Mexborough Karl, really didn't want to draw there either day.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel you will get a good draw eventually mate

Best way to attract pike is to ball it..stick with cupping

Yes I think you're right Andy, I should have got my 7m bolo rod out and fished 3/4 across, we live and learn. The pike were a PITA
You need to work on your drawing hand John
