Brundle: He still gotta keep his head, keep the thing on line, maintain a top 10 somewhere. Schumacher: Yeah I think i will maintain the pole position Martin.
Absolutely no body compares to Michael. He was an allrounder in terms of setting up the car, bringing the right people to his team and sheer car control.
Setting up the car was never actually Michael's strong point due to the fact he was so good in the first place. It was having Rubens as an excellent 2nd/Test Driver which helped make Ferrari so strong during their early 2000s dominance.
@@CharlesDarkson Excuse me, but you are heavily misinformed. Schumacher was master of using the rule of unlimited testing. He probably tested more than any driver in history. He was until late night with the mechanics in factory trying to imoprove the car. Also he ''studied'' (Ausbildung in German) car mechanics in Germany. He had more knowledge about the car than Rubens or any other team mate he had.
@@kevinprengemann7456 in terms of regular roadcars, you're probably right. But Eddie Irvine himself has said where Ferrari went wrong badly in '96 (granted their car that year was dreadful) and the first half of '97 was that Michael was doing all the testing and because he was such a great driver that inadvertently made it more difficult to know where the car needed developments and improvements. It's not a criticism, it's actually a compliment saying Michael was too good for his own good.
This "mistake" at turn 2 was a late breaking and a sensationally controllable slide in order to win time by late breaking. He covered 2/10 on this sector. Mainly because of this "mistake". This made MS a Legend. Making the unbelievable, fact.
The time gain was not from the mistake, he probably lost time there. Main factor for the pole was that he was driving a 2003 Ferrari against a modified 2002 spec McLaren, which was much slower in straight line speed.
No doubt that the F2003 was the best car in the field, especially near the end of the season, but it was by no means flawless. For example, the car put way more stress on the tyres than a MP4-17D or FW25 (one of the reasons why ferrari opted for the harder compound bridgestones at the time) and it relied on more downforce at the back, which was quite nervous but something MS prefered (it was easier for him to predict the car this way).
Schumacher, Ferrari ,Marlboro sponsorship, V10, crazy driving, perfection! ❤ Ps: commentator must be a Schumy and Ferrari fan given his enthusiasm at the end lol 1:13 😂
This was real f1 with real drivers, no track limits, no ridiculous rules, nothing at all, only the driver counted, with his car against the clock! Today, however, the driver only serves to turn the wheel and do his homework up to the checkered flag, just look at the ridiculous current world championship where already in the third race we already know who won the world championship!!
@@t3hgir Well, with Fangio it was a different thing entirely. It’s not crazy to compare Senna and Schumacher like they’re from different times entirely. Michael was right behind Ayrton when he crashed.
@@marcoformulafan true, if you watch the post race when Michael equaled Senna's victories and he breaks down a bit you can see how much he respected Ayrton.
Every sector makes a pole. We have no idea if he sacrificed sector one a little, to ensure sector 2 and 3 were brilliant. Whether he set the car up to only be great in 2 sectors, or actually made a little error that he recovered and sensed he had to find something more in sector 2 and 3, we'll never know. But he has done laps like this, where one or two sectors were just so much better. Hockenheim 2004 comes to mind, and no one was better at sector 3 at albert park then Schumi to. Clearly a genuis of his era.
@JamesHol100 He hee hee. The Maestro (i.e. me) is alive and well and will be a formula one champion again. However, it might take me about 2 to 3 years, honestly speaking, we have a lot of work to do at Team mercedes-benz at this time
This showed why Michael Schumacher is the real 7x WDC F1 GOAT, unlike Fraudmilton which is fake championship who need fastest car and helps from maFIA to win, still he lose in last year which makes him even more pathetic.
No track limits, crazy sound, and the feeling of the speed was much more than todays cars. Hope these clowns at FIA change these stupid rules. For Shumi, no comments...
This lap just gives me the chills ... I remember my self watching it on tv when i was a young boy . Get well Micheal we Love you !
Man, I agree with you. We love you Michael
True that 🥹🤧❤️ he also demonstrated here how even with the traction control you have to be a great driver to handle those crazy cars 😱
Brundle: He still gotta keep his head, keep the thing on line, maintain a top 10 somewhere.
Schumacher: Yeah I think i will maintain the pole position Martin.
michael schumacher is the best pilot on history
i really don't agree
but the Man was fasst
real Fast
'One of his Best ever pole positions..'
Yes Indeedy..
Quite simply one of the best moments of car control ever - forget him being on pole , that slide was magical
That slide and recovery was epic.

It was a mistake, and it's very ridiculous how he could get away with it. Just shows how much faster that Ferrari was.
