I want the 600 Kg cars back. It looks so fast and the car was moving. I miss this time.

Michael always nailed the final sector perfectly.

As usual, Schumi performing magic, Murray blundering, and Brundle correcting.

I think 1998 was the best year of Schumacher, it was at the edge of speed, made some extraordinary things against McLaren.

Luca Rinaldo I think he was at the top of his game from 1997 -2002. I think 2002 was when Schumi was operating at his absolute peak. But 1997 was a season of true genius where he almost won the title in an inferior car yet again.

Agree to some extent. I first started watching the Kaiser in the first race in 1998 until the last one of his prime in Brazil 2006. His absolute peak was between 1998-2003, 2004-2006 (2005 was the worst year due the car) was still good for him in terms of performance, but the other ones were on god mode. Between 2004-2005-2006 the best was 2006. When he came back he still got the talent buy was way below his best

Luchon20082010 I had high expectations for him when he returned to F1 in Mercedes, but then the Mercedes was a midfield car and Schumacher could not push it to its fullest potential. If he stayed on for 2 more seasons, he could have won one more title.

@@DannyUltraWiz The modern F1 is unfit for his racing tactics though. It used to be that he can make qualifying laps at a given stint.

Totally agree with you. In 98 Michael was on the limit from first to the last race. It should have been his best title ever, obviously.

Loved the chrome helmet he used for this weekend only.

I'd like to think that if Michael had won that championship the chrome helmet would have become a permanent fixture. Definitely looked good, Maybe Mick will use it someday.

Those were the years! 1996-2004! I believe it was in 2002 Ferrari was way ahead of all the others and Michael won the title with 6 races remaining. In 97 ferrari was not even in top 3 over the best cars but still MSC almost won the title. Villenevue had to secure the title in very last race. Same thing in 98. Ferrari was improved but still not at mcl-merc level and again MSC almost won the title. What i’m trying to say is, when villenevue and hakkinen had the best car they had to use every race to secure their titles. When ferraris were the best cars MSC secured his titles before the last race.

Complete diminishing of how good the Ferrari’s were in 97, 98 and 99. They were championship winning cars but he lost all three. Other drivers have had this level of scrutiny over their years

    • @mito-pb8qg
      @mito-pb8qg Год назад +2

@@denzel9086 They were competitive, but not exactly the greatest cars of their respective years. The '97 Williams was quicker and way more reliable against that year's Ferrari, which was just a heavy rework of the previous season's car. The '98 Mclaren was a monster, the '99 still quite a bit quicker. Even the 2000 Mclaren was really the faster car. His '94/'95 Bennettons weren't the fastest cars in the field either and absolute pigs to drive, as testified by other drivers. You don't have to like the guy, but there's no underselling his pace.

@@denzel9086 Yeah they were so good that Schumacher qualified in the 1st race of the season:
      1997: + 2.103 behind Villeneuve/Williams
      1998: + 0.757 behind Häkkinen/McLaren
      1999: + 1.319 behind Häkkinen/McLaren
      Really good cars...

Private testing, warm-up sessions without stupid parc ferme, no engines freezing, different cars, different ideas, different tyre manufacturers. All of this made that possible. Sure, it was the same for McLaren too, but in those circumstances it's easier for who's behind to close the gap rather than the best keeping it or even increasing it.
In one word, F1. Today's pile of crap doesn't even deserve to be called F1.

and this is martin brundle's weekend firstly he tell murray that - in the sector times means the driver is ahead the + means the driver in behind the leaders split times and second after ITV had an ad break at mika's pit stop after mika's crew chief said "well here's your pit stop champ" and martin brundle confirming that Mika hakkinen is the 1998 F1 world champion
