I am an old school rock and roller... and I have over the last 20 years been saddened by what has passed for music... Then, Gotye happened.... it started with the Somebody song which in its own right is damn catchy and a familiar-at-the-gut-level scenario... but as I branch out and see more of this artists' work/play, I realize how very diverse and colorful and in touch he really is. Among many other things, he has restored integrity, heart and soul to music in the digital age. Thanks bro
Every since I saw you live at the Brisbane Powerhouse... my goodness, it seems like a million years ago I swear (I mean, it was only $27 for a ticket back then - before you became internationally famous - and it was hands down one of the best concerts I have ever had the pivilege of attending personally), I often reminisce about how you sang with your arms held tightly to your sides, with your eyes closed tightly as well, which I assumed was deliberate, so you didnt have to see the audience. It reminds me of how, though fame may be awesome for some, it can also be extremely overwhelming for those who are only trying to show the world your love for music... despite the fact that you have SO MUCH TALENT. Your performance back then was so raw and endearing, you made me an instant fan. Even now, I play your music for my kids in the car, so they can appreciate it. You keep doing you, screw anyone else. One Question though... Do you have any recordings from that show for "The Only Thing I Know"? Because that rendition was one of the reasons became a fan all those years ago. It was so amazing, and 1Million times more impactful than the rendition you put on your album (Like Drawing Blood).
Yeah yeah yeah - I'm with arsalmonar with his admiration of the amazing Gotye. As a child of the 50s I've grown up on a rich diet of 60s 70s 80s 90s and 00s and 10 and I'd have to say - Gotye is a genius par excellence! State of the Art was my first taste of Gotye and I am totally addicted to the sounds of Gotye. I'm also uncovering all his work and it's so beautiful. Thank you Wally for blessing the world with your awesome music.

I take the day to watch all Gotye's videos, and I'm still impressed how they they have different styles from one another. They are so unique.
doing the same seven years later! it's not any less impressive now! ^^

He's really creative, but he didn't want to go all commercial in America. He likes tinkering in studios more than performing worldwide
When I saw him play this live you could really tell that he has a real passion, it was the greatest gig I have ever been to

oh, sorry, my mistake :)
Actually is "Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a Pict"! :D
Who else hates the irritating long lasting pain of biting your thumbs nail too much in.
yes i know, but that was just the first one that came to mind - plus i didn;t actually read that comment
I think the current top comment (bbuchner1017's of two months ago, if it dissappears) just might have beaten yours by a little bit.
'a collection of small furry animals gathered together in a cave' - pink floyd. not sure if it's the longest, but it would be up there I think :)
Oh jeeze, I actually accidentally clicked the dislike button! But it's okay, I went back and liked it, like, three times and favorited it. ^^
has a nice 60's R&B feel to it - very hip..
Look at some Panic! At The Disco song names :P
I always think of The Lorax when watching this...
Just take them.... TAKE THEM! AL MY INTERNETS!
Well I would recommend any song that sung by the my little pony friendship is magic character pinkie pie.

This came out first, just for the record. But I'd guess that a lot of pop ish songs have similar chord progression.

Odd... where's the higher vocals on the refrain part? Didn't know there was more than 1 version of this song.
I needs to buy this guys music. Deserves support. Friggin genius.

This is my favourite song from Gotye.
I plan to play this at my funeral.
Beautiful message in the lyrics and video!

Ehhh I'd say better. I think Gotye's super cool. Although I'm probably unreasonably biased against Peter Gabriel.

It starts a little too abruptly for that in my opinion--would wake me up startled instead of comfortable.
I love his voice in this song........I love to hear the more soulful side of Gotye.
I'm inspired man. This is a fantastic collection of sounds.
You really got it brother.

Aside from his master-level songwriting, we should admire Gotye's vocals. A fantastic singer!

He's in blue, she's in pink. Hard time for the clichés.
