    For car audio, I recommend using Crutchfield.com (not sponsored FYI, just really like them). They're who I've used for every car audio install I've done as they make it really easy to get all the parts you need for your specific vehicle. Pick your vehicle (make, model, year, and options) and their gear selector shows you products that fit your vehicle. Select your gear (head unit, speakers, etc.) and the installation parts (wiring adapters, dash trim, etc.) are included for free up to $50 and discounted if they are over that. They also have excellent customer support and make it as easy as possible to do a DIY car audio install, you can learn more here: www.crutchfield.com/About/Val...

    Be sure to reattach the two nuts at the top of the dash for the anti-theft bracket after removing it, they fix the metal dash sub-structure to the vehicle.

      Good tip! I've noticed that my dash rattles a bit when I drive over gravel and I'm betting that's why

      @@ProjectBilld If you have any plastic on plastic squeaking noises between the head unit bezel and dash panel (or anywhere else for that matter), craft stores are your friend. They sell 8x11 sheets of self-adhesive felt in different thicknesses, works great for eliminating surface-on-surface interior noises. If something thicker is needed, the furry half of self-adhesive Velcro works well.

    I'm looking to upgrade the sound system in my jeep as well, (i have an 05 wrangler as well) and i was wondering how well the bass is on the speakers you installed. I love bass, and was just curious how well these speakers do with bass heavy music.

    • @ProjectBilld
      @ProjectBilld  Год назад +2

      Not much bass from the speakers I installed. I plan to add a stealth sub under the front seat as the stock sub is really lacking. You're pretty limited to 5.25 in speakers in the dash but I know a lot of people have installed 6.5 in speakers in/on the roll cage locations. That would get you a little more bass

    Nice helpful video, does the wrangler have a stock subwoofer ? Did using the adapter cable to plug up the ddin head unit keep it functioning

    • @ProjectBilld
      @ProjectBilld  Месяц назад

      The Rubicons have a stock sub woofer in the center console, though it isn't great. It uses the rear speaker inputs for the signal so yes the adapter cable is all you need. Be sure to hook up the remote control wire (blue/blue with white stripe) or the sub amp won't turn on

  • @518TommyP
    @518TommyP Год назад

    was there any special way to connect the factory amp for the subwoofer?..did you need to combine any wires?ty

    • @ProjectBilld
      @ProjectBilld  Год назад

      Nothing special as the factory amp takes its input from the speaker wires. I did have to check my wiring as the amp didn't turn on at first, somehow I missed the remote wire that tells the amp to turn on

      @ProjectBilld  Год назад

      Hi Walter. Everything I used is linked in the video description. I've had good luck with Sony head units both with this one and in the past, not too flashy but reliable. There are cheaper Sony models than the one I used that I think would work well, I just wanted the hdmi input for the novelty of it.

    • @ProjectBilld

    Nice detailed video. Could the HDMI be used for a front and/or rear mounted camera or are there any other ports available for cameras?

    • @ProjectBilld
      @ProjectBilld  4 дня назад +1

      The head unit in this video has a rca video port for the back up camera. You could use the hdmi for a front camera, assuming the front camera has that kind of output. There are other head units that support 2 cameras via rca, you might be better off getting one of those
