Just did the polyfill and it sounds a million times better. Now the only noise is coming from the light in the sound bar and the bar hitting the roll cage. Definitely worth $4 and 10 minutes of work
Thanks for the video. I just did this for my 2014 JK soundbar. I used the Mopar Kicker coaxials ($60) and the difference over stock is striking. Factory soundbar speakers are total junk.
I just put Addictive Audio 6 5 in. Carbon fiber in my soundbar. It's deadened, insulated, and uses an inch and a half spacers so no need for cutting. It rocks hard and clean
I replaced the soundbar in my 2014 wrangler with the 2015 sound bar because it had extra speaker holes which I used to mount the tweeters by making a bracket because I put component speaker in it.. Also, I removed the stock connector and ordered a Nomex connector that had the proper number of positions so I could run all the wires for the speakers and light and used the stock connector grommet by using a heat gun to remove the black epoxy they filled it with. Looks stock and it's easily removable like the stock one, just remove the electrical plug and the bolts and the whole thing comes down.
RTA! Learned so much about my head unit when he hooked up an RTA to the signal wires and showed the funky signal, not many people can do that at home. RTA shows a lot about what a stock head unit really puts out... a highly shaped signal tuned to make the cheapest possible stock speakers sound decent for most folks. Looking forward to the EQ video on this jeep build!
I did this to my sound bar in my aging TJ. It went from a sound similar to what a tablet may have to a sound similar to a higher end television, which is vastly superior to the tablet-like sound. It will likely never have a premium bass sound with screeching treble and rich mid tones. But it is much, much, better. My aging TJ has the soft top and the soft doors so there is only so much that can be done with an open type vehicle. But I did not get a vintage Jeep for a car-like experience. I am taking the bad with the good. But this method made the bad, only slightly bad instead of annoyingly bad.
You guys need to find an application for sound bars in a regular cars or trucks. I am planning on putting in a 6 speaker sound bar mounted to my headliner in my 1996 Ford Explorer XLT. I believe if you design and sell similar sound bars money could be made!
I really like your string trick... I tried to use it when I did my speakers last week on my 2017 Wrangler JK. I say tried because my wire harness in the sound bar had rubber grommets between the speaker holes and the interior of the sound bar. Additionally the center section of my Jeep's sound bar seems to be filled with some sort of foam. I spent several hours attempting to use a coat hanger to fish string through the bar so that I could pull the wires; I finally gave up and cut the grommet apart on one end so that I could get the wires pulled. Once I did that the rest of the speaker install was fairly easy; I left the factory harness in place, along with the factory tweeters in the sound bar (disconnected) for about the same reason you did. I re-watched the video just now and it looks like your speaker bar is different from mine, (different year?) so I take back all of the things I said during my struggle with the speaker bar :)
I didn't have poly-fill, so I used pillow stuffing. Lol. I installed JBL GX602's. I'm interested to hear the difference with the Dynamat. Doing my gf's Jeep next week with JBL GX600C components front and back, since the 2015 Wrangler uses components in the soundbar as well.
Ha ha - Thats what she said! Love it. A great how to video. Well done. I like how you take care to get everything just right. I'll certianly have a crack at this myself for sure. Having that nice big flat space must really help.
Love this video. Looking hard at a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. 2-door. Not a whole lot of room to work with. But I want to stay with the factory locations. I will be using either Focal or Morel speakers if possible.
@CarAudioFabrication Great Video ! One thing other videos talk about but you didn't mention is polarity of the speakers. I was hoping even though it does not pertain to this video you could help me out since you have the experience. I have a 2022 JTRD with the upgraded 8.4 Alpine system. So I have a total of 9 speakers including the sub. 4 speakers up front (2 top dash / 2 knee panels) and 4 speakers in the rear sound bar (2 - 3/1/2" and 2 - 4"). I do not have the high tech equipment like a professional shop, so I used my cell phone and a multimeter to do my testing. My question is mainly referring to the sound bar... but here is the deal: There have been several instances where the wiring diagrams(posted on the Gladiator forum) and the +/- or polarities have been reversed from the factory , so I wanted to test and double check mine. First I checked the front two(2) upper dash speakers with my multimeter and determined my +/- wires were opposite of the OEM wiring diagram. For the left, Grey/Orange - (Neg) and Grey/Yellow +(Pos). For the right, Grey/Dark Green -(Neg) and Grey/Light green +(Pos). Once I connected the speakers, I then used my cell phone app for Android (Polarity Checker) to double check my multimeter reading. When doing this, both upper dash and lower knee panel speakers "POPPED" green. So from these results, I am assuming I have all of the positive speaker wires coming from the head unit(AMP) connected to the proper positive terminal of the speaker. ****This is where my question/request comes in.....***** Since you have or most likely will work on other Gladiators/Wranglers with the 8.4 system or the next time you do, maybe check and verify for me.(PLEASE) I know in general, you want all of your speakers to be the same polarity, either all "POPPING" green or all popping red, but from my understanding(which is limited on the subject) I read there are some instances where you want your speakers to have opposite polarities, such as if when the speakers are inside the same enclosure . I read it could also be caused when using a crossover. I wasn't sure if this was 100% true... I haven't upgraded my soundbar yet, but before I did, I wanted to check their polarity. Testing using ONLY the cell phone app....... the two smaller 3-1/2" speakers (on the outside of each end of the sound bar "popped" red and the two inner 4" speakers "popped" green. I was wondering if since one of the 3-1/2" and one of the 4" speakers share the same pod, are they wired this way on purpose from the factory ? Thus, making the 4" push , while the smaller 3-1/2" pulls..... working together... maybe more efficient ? Or Should both be wired the same (making all 4 of the sound bar speakers function the same and "pop" green) and then ultimately, making all 8 speakers pop green together ? ... I plan on updating the rear soundbar speakers and want to make sure I have them wired correctly when I do. Hopefully I didn't make this more confusing than necessary, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have actually followed this channel and build for years but I finally had time and money to do it right. But I was wondering if you did any sound deadening or mods to the knee panel enclosures?
Your videos have helped me out tremendously! I have a 15 Wrangler and doing the same project with Phoenix Gold Coaxials. My soundbar is totally different at the speakers though.
I believe mine has the 6. 2 at the top of the dash. 2 in the dash. 2 in the soundbar. You probably have the Alpine system. My soundbar looks like this, which I'm sure yours does as well. _lh3.googleusercontent.com/oog2szHk2_n-zavqTw1b4Fi4jwHU_PupOrKt2a-5HgPhO7leaCuxzqQYKbyosuKmtgZsD4bWWg_
CarAudioFabrication I need some of those tweeter adaptors you made for the dash. I don't have tools anymore. How much would you charge for two pairs of those?
Any recommendations on what to do to get the light fixture on the Jeep wrangler soundbad to stop buzzing? I noticed it rattles around the 100hz range too
@caraudiofabrication I love your work. Im doing a very similar install on my Jeep, however I've decided to use a nexus tablet as a head unit. I'm looking for a good way to have the audio transferred over to my amp to reduce the wiring. Do you recommend Bluetooth audio? Are you interested in creating a nice system using a nexus tablet as head unit, And modifying such to integrate fully with a new audio install in the future?
So, where did you hook up the new wire that you ran on the outside of the box? I'm about to upgrade my speakers and would like to do this exact method. Thanks in advance.
You may have done this or answered it already. I couldn't find it if you did. But how do the all in one amp/subwoofer perform? I have a truck and I use the rear underwear storage for just that. So the only place I'd really have room for anything is under the jumpseat on the front bench seat of my truck. I haven't been able to find a video that really helps or shows how they perform. Mostly people recording stuff on their cellphones.
Nice video Mark. I have a 2016 wrangler with the sound bar that has the 6.5" and tweeter combo. I added a stronger 4ch amp so I want to run the 14ga speaker wire to each sound bar location, not using the factory wiring. Is there an easy way you've found to get the larger speaker wire inside the enclosure without simply drilling into it and still keeping it water tight?
i have a 2011 ram with the Alpine upgrade, i have 2 10 ' s running off the factory amp sounds pretty good but want more bass , how can i add an amp to the factory unit ,and its powered at 2 ohms
I was looking for that green tesa tape you use for tracing things out. Do you have a direct link to it? Also just want to say thanks for all you do. Have helped me a lot!
hello i have a 2014 street glide the front spakers have their own pods and i added 2 rear pods how much polyfill do you recomend for it its gets very scratchy with bass i have after market 300 watt x4 rockford amp and 4 rockford punch speakers
I have a question? When you installed the coaxial speakers, did you disconnect the factory tweeter? Because there’s tweeters in the front and tweeters in the sound bar I was planning on just putting 6 1/2 inch Fosgate subs in the rear sound bar and coaxial‘s in the front or 6 1/2 subwoofers in the front also, so do the tweeters need to be disconnected or can they stay connected?
@CarAudioFabrication Would installing the sound deadening material and the polyfill with the stock speakers make much of a difference in your opinion? I would like to try this on my JL, but not wanting to replace the base speakers just yet... ????
i just subscribed, so i dont know what u got, but do u have any tips for poor hillbilly kids without money? how kan we make loud and not too horrible music when we dont have money?
Hi, im looking to do an upgrade to my soundbar as well, i already installed JBL speakers in the stock locations but im considering going to 6x9 speakers and making my own custom soundbar, would this process be possible and if so, what materials should i use to construct the soundbar? Thank you for the great video.
How to upgrade existing sound system? What are the things to add for better sound quality ? Do you recommend change of speakers ? I have Jeep Compass 4×4 limited Option. Pl help.
I did this to the soundbar and front speaker enclosures in my 2011 Wrangler. I used Kenwood 3-way 6.5"s. It sounds better than stock but I am disappointed in the lack of bass. I removed the polyfill from one side of the soundbar to see whether it made any difference as I was thinking that maybe it reduced the volume of the enclosure too much. It didn't make a difference to my ears. I suppose the enclosures are just too small as I had Kenwood 3-way 6.5"s in the doors of a Mitsubishi mini-truck back in college and that thing sounded AMAZING. Luckily I did the same to the stock sub enclosure and upgraded to a Kenwood sub and it makes up the difference. Just wish the 4 6.5"s were reaching their potential to make the Jeep sound amazing as opposed to "good." :/
Not large enough to handle the increase in power, and if I'm going to take the time to sound treat this I'm not going to not spend $5 extra bucks for good wire.
Great question. I would assume they are the same? I had a GT back in the day and dyno'd the whole thing. Even the roof. I was shocking how the sound improved.
Removing the soundbar completely took me 10 mins, and saved me a crooked neck. Thanks!
Just did the polyfill and it sounds a million times better. Now the only noise is coming from the light in the sound bar and the bar hitting the roll cage. Definitely worth $4 and 10 minutes of work

I'd kill to work on my car with this guy.
So even with the camera mic the bass response sounded fantastic!
ahh factory integration improvements, i like that.
good work as always !
Thanks! Appreciate that!
CarAudioFabrication lol I was laughing when u said that's what she said joke LMAO
Just bought a 2017 Willy's and used your techniques for my soundbar re-cable. thanks man!!
Does it sound better? Same?
I wish you showed how you tied in the new wired harness into the radio for us amateurs.
That string trick is awesome, I will be using daily at work. Thank You Mark
Get yourself a large stiff zip tie too that is 2 feet long. Perfect for pushing wire through spaces
I just put 4 PPS4-8's in my SoundBar with Fosgate's 1" PPS Tweeters and 2 Jl 10w3v3-4s. Now I gotta do this
Thanks for the video. I just did this for my 2014 JK soundbar. I used the Mopar Kicker coaxials ($60) and the difference over stock is striking. Factory soundbar speakers are total junk.
Where did you get the Mopar Kickers?
Thanks... I'm upgrading my sound bar in my Jeep very soon as well. Can't wait to hear the difference
I just put Addictive Audio 6 5 in. Carbon fiber in my soundbar. It's deadened, insulated, and uses an inch and a half spacers so no need for cutting. It rocks hard and clean

really liked the rta footage. maybe do a before and after next time
agreed, a comparison would be cool

yea we all need audio nivana sometimes..
nice vid..
My issue is my Jeep dome light vibrates. Trying to see if maybe some sound proof material used like a gasket would work. Great Video!
Awesome, glad to see you implemented my suggestion for showing an audio clip after you were done the build! Another great video!
I haven't done a car stereo since like 2002. I see Rockford is still around lol
I have actually followed this channel and build for years but I finally had time and money to do it right. But I was wondering if you did any sound deadening or mods to the knee panel enclosures?
have you ever made a "blow through" box for a single cab truck? where the box is in the truck bed and the port leads into the cabin..
Very cool, I did one early in the summer did not do as much as you but that looked much easier than what I was going..
Keep it up man.!
I'm gonna do mine. I'll have to figure out which is positive and negative
Your videos have helped me out tremendously!
I have a 15 Wrangler and doing the same project with Phoenix Gold Coaxials.
My soundbar is totally different at the speakers though.
xdime2007 do you have the 8 speaker system with the separate 6.5" mids and tweeters? My 2016 JKU Sport S has that.
I believe mine has the 6.
2 at the top of the dash.
2 in the dash.
2 in the soundbar.
You probably have the Alpine system.
My soundbar looks like this, which I'm sure yours does as well.
_lh3.googleusercontent.com/oog2szHk2_n-zavqTw1b4Fi4jwHU_PupOrKt2a-5HgPhO7leaCuxzqQYKbyosuKmtgZsD4bWWg_
xdime2007 definitely no Alpine system. It's just an 8 speaker system. Sounds awful. I can't decide if I'm upgrading speakers or headlights first...
Speakers first!
CarAudioFabrication I need some of those tweeter adaptors you made for the dash. I don't have tools anymore. How much would you charge for two pairs of those?
Damn I wish they had those products here in South Africa. I love those template stencils you use.
Where did you connect the new speaker wires you ran through the grommet??
So where does he end up running the new speaker wires to?
sound skin or dynamat which is the better for
sound treatment
i have extremely nice speakers in my jeep out of my old truck. when the bass hits u can hear the sound bar rattling so i need to try this ASAP
funny
I slammed it buddy! Thank you for your teaching skills!
“That’s what she said.” 🐐
You are good man! Awesome job
Why did you use larger wire? Does it really matter?
I liked and subbed bcz you said “that’s what she said” lmao
I don’t see the link you mentioned about adapting the material on the soundbar enclosures for installing the new speakers: flat Poly propylene?
Any recommendations on what to do to get the light fixture on the Jeep wrangler soundbad to stop buzzing? I noticed it rattles around the 100hz range too
@caraudiofabrication I love your work. Im doing a very similar install on my Jeep, however I've decided to use a nexus tablet as a head unit. What size speaker wire did you use? Jeepmama here and need to learn. Thanks for your video. I subscribed xoxo
So, where did you hook up the new wire that you ran on the outside of the box? I'm about to upgrade my speakers and would like to do this exact method. Thanks in advance.
Im wanting to install marine kicker 6.5 how much would you charge for a set of those adapters you made?
still don't know how a 4 channel Amp pushes a 6 speaker interior on a jeep. what's pushing the front 3.5s?
'That's what she said' 😂
😂😂
Lmao, I was like all serious looking at the video and he busts out with that, hhaahahaha.
Lmao!!
At first I saw this comment and had no idea what you were talking about...then I hit play 😂
@CarAudioFabrication when We gonna get the next video with the speaker connection?
nebylo by snažší a lepší to vystříkat nějakým vytlumením? jinak pěkná práce ;)
I never seen a soundbar like this before
Does poly fill really help that much
Hi, do you sell the custom speaker adapters?
Isn’t laying sound skin/ Kilmat useless in a Jeep??
HA, I caught that quick joke you threw in there. Well played, sir! Haha
Time for some acoustic panels on the ceiling of the garage. It'll get rid of the echo chamber effect during filming.
Nice awesome set up great job
Advice I wanted to hear!
I love ur videos to bits ☺️👍🏻
+The Braders99 thanks for watching
What do you suggest for sub placement underseat, tailgate, hidden compartment in trunk,or against backseat just for a nice full bass sound.
Hey what im just starting out i was wondering what router and router table is good but not to pricey
What a great channel :) keep it up man!
hey Mark how to make 4 12"s woofer box
Wow nice job
do you prefer sound skin or second skin? I want to know which would be better for my doors and trunk.
i have a 2011 ram with the Alpine upgrade, i have 2 10 ' s running off the factory amp sounds pretty good but want more bass , how can i add an amp to the factory unit ,and its powered at 2 ohms
Do you sell Jeep Jk sound bars already made? I’d definitely buy one
thanks Mark
I was looking for that green tesa tape you use for tracing things out. Do you have a direct link to it? Also just want to say thanks for all you do. Have helped me a lot!
Clean install clean vid 👍🏿
hello i have a 2014 street glide the front spakers have their own pods and i added 2 rear pods
how much polyfill do you recomend for it
its gets very scratchy with bass
i have after market 300 watt x4 rockford amp
and 4 rockford punch speakers
I have a question? When you installed the coaxial speakers, did you disconnect the factory tweeter? Because there’s tweeters in the front and tweeters in the sound bar I was planning on just putting 6 1/2 inch Fosgate subs in the rear sound bar and coaxial‘s in the front or 6 1/2 subwoofers in the front also, so do the tweeters need to be disconnected or can they stay connected?
@CarAudioFabrication
Would installing the sound deadening material and the polyfill with the stock speakers make much of a difference in your opinion? I would like to try this on my JL, but not wanting to replace the base speakers just yet... ????
and this works well with the stock intergrated amplifer :) ?
i just subscribed, so i dont know what u got, but do u have any tips for poor hillbilly kids without money? how kan we make loud and not too horrible music when we dont have money?
sablahedning no
Do you not still have factory wiring from the head unit or amplifier? What is the point of just upgrading a 4 foot piece?
Upgrade the full length. The key part here is more the sound treatment that prevents the enclosure from flexing and rattling.
Hi, im looking to do an upgrade to my soundbar as well, i already installed JBL speakers in the stock locations but im considering going to 6x9 speakers and making my own custom soundbar, would this process be possible and if so, what materials should i use to construct the soundbar? Thank you for the great video.
Pretty overkill with that speaker wire gauge? xD
Hi, have you ever done any work on a 2004 explorer or mountaineer?
How to upgrade existing sound system?
What are the things to add for better sound quality ? Do you recommend change of speakers ? I have Jeep Compass 4×4 limited Option. Pl help.
Return the compass and get a wrangler.
Do these fit on 2017 Wrangler Sahara?
Can I just send in my Jeep Wrangler sound bar and you do this for me?
Excuse me mark what is bueatal rope?
@CarAudioFabrication Should I get the Alpine Premium or purchase aftermarket in a 2018?
Did this jeep have the stock infinity system?
What are your thoughts on the Clarion brand?
Nice stuff! :D
Bad ass bro!
Just wish the 4 6.5"s were reaching their potential to make the Jeep sound amazing as opposed to "good." :/
PEOPLE ARE INCREDIBLY STUPID !!!!!
Why couldn’t you re use the stock wires for the after market speaker?
Not large enough to handle the increase in power, and if I'm going to take the time to sound treat this I'm not going to not spend $5 extra bucks for good wire.
So did you run an aftermarket amp for that Jeep install. Did you put on video the whole Jeep install?
Would I get more vibration with the polyfill? If they hit harder with that. Would the dynomat stuff work better?
Great question. I would assume they are the same? I had a GT back in the day and dyno'd the whole thing. Even the roof. I was shocking how the sound improved.
