10:18 This voice clip is actually reused from Pokemon The First Movie and Johto Journeys, especially a slowbro episode. Young link's voice is actually majora's mask.
OverName13579 I know because I extracted the sounds from the ROM at the time. If you compare them, some grunts vary a lot. Especially the third slash after any variation of the B-B-B combo. The being hit sounds are also different, especially fierce deity, he has recorded sounds for kicking chests, opening bottles, and getting in-out the water. They are not the same grunts as in OOT. Though I recognize those grunts can barely pass as "voice acting", lol.
2:50 Incorrect grunt sound from Link. The grunt he does in Melee when getting hit a little is the sound when Link smacks against the wall after rolling/ also used when Link climbs up the ledge in Ocarina Of Time.
Yeah, surprised that was looked over. Speaking of Young Link, I'm a bit rustled they didn't use this voice actor for the character in Hyrule Warriors. The assets are obviously still available (MM3D), and I can't imagine they used the same compression as the original N64 game. They likely have the same master recordings that supply Melee with its higher quality sound clips. It would appear the actress, Fujiko Takimoto is now a part of the "Arts Vision" idol agency, and I know some of these Japanese talent agencies can be notorious for exclusivity clauses. She may be restricted from recording for Nintendo, or even from having her voice appear in a 'new' game.
MarioFan96 Those sites are using old information to fill in the gaps, since the actors aren't credited within the games. Somebody looked to past Young Link roles and filled in the blank. Given the evidence at hand (a voice that sounds nothing alike, and the actress involved with an idol agency) it's safe to assume it's not her. Assuming it *is* the same actress, it would speak volumes to her lack of vocal talent, if she can't even mimic herself. In such an instance, a soundalike would be preferable (and cheaper), which brings us back to square one. Nintendo doesn't care about who voices their roles, so much as they care about how the voices sound. They probably have a half dozen Mario impersonators on the ready, for when Martinet leaves his current role.
***** Majora's Mask had young Link doing a lot more than he did in OoT. Fujiko Takimoto had to record new audio for the game. The Fierce Deity Link audio was entirely recycled from Ocarina, though.
I actually think that Young Link's scream when he flies away is from Zelda Majora's Mask, cause it sounds shorter than the one from Ocarina of Time. Also, when he becomes big with a Mushroom and gets killed, this scream sounds like when he puts a Mask on and transforms.
Nobuyuki Hiyama (Link) and Hikaru Midorikawa (Marth) typically play rival characters in shows like Brave Express Might Gaine. Have both of them in a game together and anime fans will have a field day with it. One event match in Melee even has Marth take on Link.
Did you know that Marth's Japanese VA also was Mercury Black in the Japanese dub of RWBY, who Yuri Lowenthal (Marth's English VA since Codename S.T.E.A.M) is also the voice of since Volume 3?
I admit some of Mario’s sound affects and voices in Melee were reused in Super Mario Sunshine. Kinda like how the Star Fox characters in their Melee Adventure cutscenes have the Star Fox Adventures voices even though they look the way they did in Star Fox 64
Sydney moore 1st of all, no it's not "Purrie." It's "Purin." And he or she didn't even say that the name is "Pudding" he/she said it SOUNDS LIKE the word pudding.
That gasping sound that Mario makes after he says "Hoo..." is kind of creepy. And, that yellow outfit that Marth has could be derived from 7:09, since they do pull stuff from the anime as you said.
u said it! they should have a show on G4 where its all about the history of a particular video game series and how each game of that franchise is connected to each other
10:18 Yeah, such as Togepi's sound that it makes after being released from a Pokeball in SSBM is almost the same as the sound Togepi makes during its appearance as a "Who's That Pokemon?". ("Who's That Pokemon is just something that was added to the Pokemon anime when it was localized. They show a silhouette of a Pokemon before commercial break and then after the break they show you who it is)
Technically Ganondorf's voice is the exact same in Ocarina of Time. Try being giant Ganondorf and you will hear the exact voice (except his jumping grunt). While his normal size in melee is just slightly high pitched.
Mario: *reads a car magazine* WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Luigi: *rushes to were Mario is* MARIO! ARE YOU OKAY?! Mario: THIS MAGAZINE IS FRIKIN AWESOME!!!
I think u missed the sound Ice Climbers make when they throw the ice with the B-button, is the sound they make when they cry after losing to a Bonus stage in the Ice climber game.
05:52: Also Ice Climbers' Ice Shot move's sound when producing ice blocks comes from Ice Climber-game too. It can be heard when: -Hitting enemies -When Topi's repair the broken platforms on the game with ice blocks.
Something that CCD missed is that one of Bowsers voice clips is taken from Mario Kart 64, and Mario's death sound clip from Mario Party 2 was reused for Luigi's star-KO sound effect.
I discussed this with CCD, but by the time he'd put in SO MANY DAYS working on this project, I don't blame him for not going through and trying to add them in. It was a long process...as has been this entire project.
I'll add something ; in the french and german versions of the game, Jigglypuff is voiced by his german/french voice actor (in these languages, he's named "Pummeluff" and "Rondoudou"). In fact, all the pokémons you can see in the game are also voiced in german and french (except pikachu and pichu because they have the same name in every language). Another funny thing is that the "presenter" (the voice that say "Game !", "Time !"...) names this pokémon with it's respective name ; it's quite funny to hear "Pummeluff" and "Rondoudou" with an american accent xD. Same for the supporters. The spanish and italian versions of the game keep the american voicing because the pokémon's names are the same as in english.
3:52 Ganondorf sounds so badass when he uses the Warlock Punch in melee.
AAAAARGH!!!!!"Ganondorf is so crazy"
aaaaa-AAAARRRGH!
0:50 10:15 10:18
I laughed so hard 3:02 it was like, "She killed Link!! GET HER!!!!!"
Hahaha
Wah!!!😱😇
XD
😂😂😂
I just love the way SSBM make us remember of the Nintendo 64 era. (as if it was the main era since them)
That's one thing that makes this game special to me. It's a Gamecube title with the spirit of the N64 era.
2:59 I love how Link yells loudly in this game!
1:17 *O O F*
10:18 This voice clip is actually reused from Pokemon The First Movie and Johto Journeys, especially a slowbro episode.
Young link's voice is actually majora's mask.
That must've taken a lot of work to cover the character's voices. Excellent job.
Wrong information about Young Link. His sound effects are (at least mostly) from Majora's Mask, not from Ocarina of Time.
EvilGames his sounds don't really change that much between the games
OverName13579 they are not. Both voice actors for young and fierce deity(adult) re-recorded several grunts. They are not exactly the same.
OverName13579 I know because I extracted the sounds from the ROM at the time. If you compare them, some grunts vary a lot. Especially the third slash after any variation of the B-B-B combo. Yeah I played oot so much that when I play mm I noticed that link sounded slightly different
Incorrect. The only new sound effect is with his Side Smash, and that was from Majora’s Mask when riding on Epona
2:30 Ya know, Yoshi can say things himself, announcer!
4:09 Ganondorf's star KO, he sounds like he is throwing up.
Just to note all of young links clips were taken from majoras mask which mostly were retakes from oot
Mewtwo's voice is creepy o.o'
Mewtwo sounds Awesome in Japanese
it's his voice from the movie
The original "Know Your Moves"
2:50 Incorrect grunt sound from Link.
The grunt he does in Melee when getting hit a little is the sound when Link smacks against the wall after rolling/ also used when Link climbs up the ledge in Ocarina Of Time.
Wow, I totally wasn't expecting you to cover this aspect. Great job!
Actually, Young Link's sounds in Melee are actually from Majora's Mask.
Yeah, surprised that was looked over.

The Fierce Deity Link audio was entirely recycled from Ocarina, though.
+Poketto It's just like in Hyrule Warriors, Midna sounds nothing like Midna from the original Twilight Princess yet no-one noticed. Strange.
***** Please no.
I actually think that Young Link's scream when he flies away is from Zelda Majora's Mask, cause it sounds shorter than the one from Ocarina of Time. Also, when he becomes big with a Mushroom and gets killed, this scream sounds like when he puts a Mask on and transforms.
Character Voices & Sound Effects - History Behind SSB Wii U
Nobuyuki Hiyama (Link) and Hikaru Midorikawa (Marth) typically play rival characters in shows like Brave Express Might Gaine. Have both of them in a game together and anime fans will have a field day with it. One event match in Melee even has Marth take on Link.
10:04
Dat's it! I've had enough of you stealing my line! I oughta!
Wobbuffet
Puts Wobbuffet back it it's Pokeball.
Whoa!
2:59 Link's one heck of a screamer!
Daaawww! Jigglypuff's japanese voice reminds me of Kirby.
Actually, Jigglypuff's voice actress in the 4Kids dub of the anime is credited in the English versions of SSB and Melee
Actually, English-version Jigglypuff also shares its voice actor with its English MELEE version.
@jasmin8ster2010: It's actually Pippi. It just doesn't sound anything like Pippi there.
Yep, the stock voices mostly taken from N64 games for the characters in the SSB series.
Good work, all I can give you is one up vote, please accept it!
7:23 Marth looks so fabulous .
Omg i forgot how old this video was it’s nice to watch it again
I prefer Mario's Melee voice over his Brawl/4 voice.
his brawl voice is PURE SHIT his melee voice is the best
autumnfox98 Considering Mario has been voiced by the same actor since around the time of Mario 64 don't know what kind of difference it'll really make
Same voice actor dude 😂
No ad hominem!!!
i dont think his brawl voice was that bad it was ok
Ganondorf actually has a few clips taken straight from the Spaceworld 2000 tech demo
Did you know that Marth's Japanese VA also was Mercury Black in the Japanese dub of RWBY, who Yuri Lowenthal (Marth's English VA since Codename S.T.E.A.M) is also the voice of since Volume 3?
9:10 That's a funny joke
It seems you worked really hard on this, and it really payed off. I enjoy it tremensely. Great job!
5:28 okay too much beeps for mr game and watch.
the fact that they kept the voices that similar is awesome. Good work nintendo thats how u make memorable moments
Anyone else realize that when Luigi is knocked out of the map (from above) he has Mario's scream from M64 when he gets burnt, only high pitched?
It's called "pitch shifting."
The funny thing is that i was try doing the same thing for Luigi and it is the same
link's ko scream is hilarious
Pikachu's scream also sounds like Mother Brain's scream from Super Metroid
*Mind Blown*
8:15 I like that Japanese voice (Purin)
9:23 Pichu's Star KO was sad :(
awesome video
It looks like Legend of Zelda team's voices were direct rips. And fox cursed in japanese lol.
2:58 omg
lol the way you're jump cutting in terms of the hurt character sound clips is hilarious
Their is no way I'm the only one who thinks Purin's voice is cuter than Jigglypuffs. And I know there're the same pokemon
no youre not the only one
jigglypuff and Purin are the same character, Purin is jigglypuff's Japanese name.
Kirby TheKawiiPuffball he was talking about the voice
+Nightmare Bonnie 😤
8:55 What is the name of the episode
I admit some of Mario’s sound affects and voices in Melee were reused in Super Mario Sunshine. Kinda like how the Star Fox characters in their Melee Adventure cutscenes have the Star Fox Adventures voices even though they look the way they did in Star Fox 64
Why does one of Marth's victory lines sound almost exactly like the one Mewtwo has?
Thanks for supporting my idea!:D
I always hear Jigglypuff in Japanese say "Pudding!"
First: It's not pudding, it's "Purrie"
Second: That's because jigglypuffs Japanese names is "Purrie"
Sydney moore Well, sorry I don't play Pokémon.
Sydney moore 1st of all, no it's not "Purrie." It's "Purin." And he or she didn't even say that the name is "Pudding" he/she said it SOUNDS LIKE the word pudding.
SilverPikachu2099 < This person knows.
SilverPikachu2099 Sorry, thanks for correcting me.
Actually, most of young Link's voice files are from Majora's Mask, due to the slight attitude change
The sound of link solved a puzzle is from a link to the past
I think young link’s voice clips are from majoras mask
That gasping sound that Mario makes after he says "Hoo..." is kind of creepy.
And, that yellow outfit that Marth has could be derived from 7:09, since they do pull stuff from the anime as you said.
I miss link voice clips in brawl
You literally should get paid for all the work you do on this History on SSBM!
u said it!
they should have a show on G4 where its all about the history of a particular video game series and how each game of that franchise is connected to each other
7:33
then
9:30
Except for Marth saying "Boku", they have almost the same line. Mewtwo saying his slower.
So, if Young Link is from Majoras Mask and Ocarina Of Time, which Zelda Games are Toon Link from?
Jesus it must took ages to do this. well done
I wish melee had more characters
10:18 Yeah, such as Togepi's sound that it makes after being released from a Pokeball in SSBM is almost the same as the sound Togepi makes during its appearance as a "Who's That Pokemon?". ("Who's That Pokemon is just something that was added to the Pokemon anime when it was localized. They show a silhouette of a Pokemon before commercial break and then after the break they show you who it is)
10:18
Falco sounds like that old dude that has that horned hair in Tekken in PSallstarbattleroyale
Heihachi? Yeah, he kinda does.
Technically Ganondorf's voice is the exact same in Ocarina of Time. Try being giant Ganondorf and you will hear the exact voice (except his jumping grunt). While his normal size in melee is just slightly high pitched.
When mario thirsty someone "lets a go " throws
I remember watching this video when I was probably 9 years old.
And bowser sound effects from luigi mansion 1 mario kart 64 mario kart super circuit mario golf 64 mario tennis 64
6:24 This game's winner is "Sazai Si-" Fox!
Hey! What about Bowser's Roar from Mario Kart 64?
Lol 0:56
Mario's hooting like an owl.
Mario: *reads a car magazine* WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Luigi: *rushes to were Mario is* MARIO! ARE YOU OKAY?!
Mario: THIS MAGAZINE IS FRIKIN AWESOME!!!
Young Link's taunt (got Lon Lon milk?) is most likely the greatest video game taunt in history, aside from Snake's 3 taunts in Brawl
Holy shit mewtwos japanese voice is badass.
God dammit apple ment to say throws
These videos are pure genius.
9:10 single greatest taunt in game
This is quite interesting
I think u missed the sound Ice Climbers make when they throw the ice with the B-button, is the sound they make when they cry after losing to a Bonus stage in the Ice climber game.
Anybody like Clefariy's Pipipi voice?
+Lucariogamer14 me, lol
I really love the sound effects for this game :D
Young Link also has majoras mask sound clips
1:22 Mario went through the goomba without dying.
7:37 : Pikachu's voice actress is the same in all medias approved by Nintendo (even if it seems that's not the case in SSB64).
Respect to all those people that risk their pride and dignity to bring our favorite (and unfavorite) video game characters to life.
05:52: Also Ice Climbers' Ice Shot move's sound when producing ice blocks comes from Ice Climber-game too. It can be heard when:
-Hitting enemies
-When Topi's repair the broken platforms on the game with ice blocks.
Something that CCD missed is that one of Bowsers voice clips is taken from Mario Kart 64, and Mario's death sound clip from Mario Party 2 was reused for Luigi's star-KO sound effect.
Actually Luigis Star KO is also from super Mario 64 also...
Luigi's voice in Mario party 1 & 2 was from the japanese version of Mario Kart 64
Your videos are awsome!
I discussed this with CCD, but by the time he'd put in SO MANY DAYS working on this project, I don't blame him for not going through and trying to add them in. It was a long process...as has been this entire project.
03:23/Young Link's voices are actually directly from Majoras Mask. (-ll-)
OOF
-Mario
ganondorf es una copia de capitan falcon hasta en su grito de KO xD se parecen mucho
Yes, as was the same voice actor for the OAV. It is Hikaru Midorikawa, a somewhat famous anime seiyuu.
I still miss some of the clone characters. Even if they were clones, I still liked them.
i know yall are gonna find this hard to believe but Roy is voiced by Jun Fukuyama who also is known for voicing Lelouch vi Brittania in Code Geass
actually young link's scream when he falls down in the original and that scream when he gets knocked out in melee sounding differently!!
Sources from Pokemon are my favorite! Mostly 8:47
Wait... WTH!?
do you find out the luigi voice when he get launched up came from super mario 64 when mario touch lava or cold water?
I'll add something ; in the french and german versions of the game, Jigglypuff is voiced by his german/french voice actor (in these languages, he's named "Pummeluff" and "Rondoudou"). In fact, all the pokémons you can see in the game are also voiced in german and french (except pikachu and pichu because they have the same name in every language). Same for the supporters. The spanish and italian versions of the game keep the american voicing because the pokémon's names are the same as in english.
+Plateo _ jigglypuff is a "her".
Kirby TheKawiiPuffball In french, he's a "he", that's why I made that mistake xD
+ Plateo _ oh.
+Plateo _ I live in Florida so I don't make that mistake and in Florida, jigglypuff is a girl.
