Except Federer, when was the last time a big server won a slam? Beside, Federer doesn't have a lot of power in his serves. He hits hard, difficult spots on the court.
@@thanosstone5777 Uhh. Thanks for replying man. Actually, I am not sure where I said "Nadal has a big serve". What I was implying is that, just like how Nadal used to be until 2018, Rublev is not so good at his service. And, I was saying that Rublev reminds me of Nadal. To avoid unnecessary replies that say, "He is nowehere as good as Nadal" , I thought of mentioning his forehand. My comparison of the two is based on the parameter of service quality. So, nadal and rublev don't serve as good as, say, Isner or Kyrgios. Nadal has improved his service this year, I observed. So, that's good for him. I see your point. Yes, in the case of men's singles, it's not the service alone that lets you win matches. It isn't the same in the case of women's singles though. Until like 2 or 3 years ago, Serena was winning a lot of her points with aces. Just like Kyrgios here, i remember her serving consecutive aces to secure a game in like, 50 seconds or something. She does it more often than I can think of. That was what I was arguing about. If she is gonna win through aces alone, then, it's not gonnna make matches interesting, not for me at least. Even, in the case of men's tennis, aces help. Just like you said, it gives a rally advantage. But, what if there is no rally? What if the dude is only gonna serve aces during his service? I have seen Kyrgios play. He is creative, no doubt. He can create upsets with his style of play. But, he also capitalises on his serve too much. Looking at this match, the first 2 sets went 7-6, 7-6. What the score doesn't tell is that Rublev was running all around the court, was not serving on par with Kyrgios, and was sweating it out more than Kyrgios was. The games in which Kyrgios served ended far more quickly than those in which Rublev served. That says a lot about how Kyrgios is going for the win. I don't have anything against that idea. If it helps win the match early, then why not? But, if that is the only way to beat a persistent, 'never give up the point' kind of player, then that isn't fair. (Ok. it is fair. It's in the rules after all. But, it just feels like legal cheating to me.) Take away the forehand from Nadal. Do you think he would still have won 19 GS with just his athleticism and persistence? Probably, yes. But, he would have had a harder time against Federer. If i ignore the forehand, Nadal reminds me of David Ferrer. Look at Nadal in 2014-15, arguably the worst years of his tennis life. See his matches against Dustin Brown. Whether DB was lucky for Nadal to be out of form, or just that DB was the better player on those 2 match days, I will let you decide on that. The players he lost to, in those 2 years, most of them were damn good at their service. Does it mean they are better than Nadal? Mostly not. But, they did increase their chances of winning a tournament for themselves by beating one of the big 3, and their serves played a big role in that (not the only thing, but, probably the most important) Agree with you there, mostly. But, Novak also serves well. He doesn't serve as accurately as Federer, but, he is pretty good. Even Murray (who has won 3 GS i think) has a good service. And, like how you pointed out, they serve at hard difficult spots on the court, rather than relying on power or speed. Still doesn't make it fair in my mind though. If you have a really slow serve, and you serve just like Federer in accuracy, chances aren't that high for you to have the advantage in the rally. A slow serve will give more time for the opponent to think and act. Kyrgios is also very accurate with his service. But, along with accuracy, he has speed. That makes it harder to face his serves. That is the point I was trying to make. Sorry for the long reply. I got carried away. I understand I am not a great analyst of tennis. So, I will be wrong in a lot places here. It's fine. I'd rather accept my mistakes and learn the right things, than not do that and argue like an idiot. So, if you find some blatant errors in my comment, please correct me. Thanks. Have a nice day.
I don't understand why Kyrgios is even getting praises for his game, 'potential' in tennis means nothing; you actually have to win all 7 matches consistently until Sunday. Talents and skills in tennis are measured by trophies and records, not a couple of wins against the greatest guys, imaginary potential or attention-grabbing antics. Yikes.
Exactly. He is getting the attention because he seeks attention and the ATP is glad to play along and to promote him. The guy hits a couple tweeners, a drop shot and some junk shots and all of a sudden he's 'super talented?' Give me a break.
At 1:34 that was Kyrgios pseudo-Federer serve because he normally drags his back foot forward before impact.. With this one, his feet were both planted...
Without Movement Djokovic is nothing. Without a forehand Federer is nothing. Without an amazing mentality Nadal is nothing. Sorry but your comment makes no sense.

But, it just feels like legal cheating to me.)
Take away the forehand from Nadal. Mostly not. But, they did increase their chances of winning a tournament for themselves by beating one of the big 3, and their serves played a big role in that (not the only thing, but, probably the most important)
Agree with you there, mostly.
Kyrgios was 3 0 in the tie break and it turned into 4-4? Kyrgios has alot of work to do.
Man this court is fast.
Rublev has improved. Kyrgios has improved a little in comparison to recently.
My fav US Open moment after Rafa's NO.19
I really think this year could be his year...
2:04 FAA as a line judge?
playing with passion representing a nation vs. playing for your ego
Is it me or Rublev looks like a Gorillaz memeber
He looks like a monk from the Middle Ages
I don't understand why Kyrgios is even getting praises for his game, 'potential' in tennis means nothing; you actually have to win all 7 matches consistently until Sunday. Talents and skills in tennis are measured by trophies and records, not a couple of wins against the greatest guys, imaginary potential or attention-grabbing antics. Yikes.
Exactly. He is getting the attention because he seeks attention and the ATP is glad to play along and to promote him. The guy hits a couple tweeners, a drop shot and some junk shots and all of a sudden he's 'super talented?' Give me a break.
2 great players 👏
Rublev is a hard worker. Too bad Kyrgios' talent is just greater even if he doesn't work as much.
At 1:34 that was Kyrgios pseudo-Federer serve because he normally drags his back foot forward before impact.. With this one, his feet were both planted...
in other words he did a plank.
i admire Kyrgios aces, but without aces, he`s nothing
without aces, sampras is nothing
How? Have you seen his dropshots? The placement and power of his baseline shots? The only thing he lacks severely in is mentality
Without Movement Djokovic is nothing. Without a forehand Federer is nothing. Without an amazing mentality Nadal is nothing. Sorry but your comment makes no sense.
Kyrgios pick up line to anisimova. “You play tennis. I play tennis. So where do we go from here?”
L Moya I was making a joke. Over your head I guess
I am sorry, I was not responding to you. I eliminated my commentary.
What an insane match
