Actually my father is suffering from renal swelling and spleen enlargement. In this case prednisolone is used as treatment for renal and on other hand platelet count was decreasing so I discussed with my doctor why it is decreasing, he said that steroids may increases platelet counts in some of cases so he suggested to take opinion with hemetologist they tried all medicine and suggested Splenectomy.. At last they tried revolade 50, electrombopag and that is working. But I don't know how revolade medicine is increasing the platelet count, I mean according to doctor platelet is consuming by the spleen by its enlarged behaviour. Can u please explain weather it is treating Spleen coz bone marrow shows normal platelet growth.
I am hoping to hear about my hemotology/rheumatoid appointment Tomorrow, they suspect I may have lupus. Platelet value is currently 43. I am not sure what that means just yet but hopefully things will be okay :)

What if the patient has a combination of anemia and low platelets but a normal white blood cell count? I am trying to solve a medical case for one of my stories and a 40 year old man has several fractures, a hemoglobin of 8, and a clinically low platelet count. I already have a hypothesis as to the cause of the anemia. My best guess is that the bleeding from the fractures has lead to a symptomatic iron deficiency anemia. What I'm worried about most though is the low platelets. Since it is clinically low, the patient is more prone to spontaneous bleeding. And more bleeding means persistence and possibly a worsening of the iron deficiency anemia. As I said at the beginning, the white blood cell count is not affected. If the anemia gets worse, that would be bad, not only because of lack of oxygen transport and the jaundice that will result several days later as the red blood cells outside of the bloodstream break down, but also because the anemia is already symptomatic. Obviously both the thrombocytopenia and the anemia need to be treated, but the thrombocytopenia is of higher priority than the iron deficiency anemia, right, despite the anemia itself being symptomatic?

They said I have blockage in samr artery they put the stent but it's above the stent so they want to do bypass. I've been here 2 weeks they keep saying platelets r to low I think they said 180.000 they said platelets went up then came back down but they have me on heparin think zofran an some other crap now won't that affect the platelet count . I ask cuz now they saying o nother week waiting. Now history of bleeding to much or random bleeding. Appreciate any insight
So weird I been consistently testing as low platelets over the past 3 years. More recently gynaecologist thought I was being abused when she saw crazy bruises all over my legs blood test Low platelet count she wanted me to see a hematologist but I brushed it off. I assumed the is whole time I inject Humira biologics it’s probably the case no worries. But I just got a report from 4 years ago by my rheumatologist which is Before I got diagnosed Before I started biologics he note Platelet count low. So this can only mean I’ve had low platelet counts this entire time. Went to get tested ytd she put in the needle to draw blood and my blood squirted all over my arm lol I was like ok platelets prob still low results today sure enough low. I have no idea whether this is even an issue to look into or not? Cause It usually varies between 70,000-140,000 so technically it’s nothing really right?

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis i just realized you commented recently did not know you were active on this video so just reposting my comment here if maybe you will see it im not a doctor/hematologist or student of science really at all... my cousin was admitted in the icu last weekend and i just found 2 days ago; they didnt know what it was but his spleen had previously been enlarged and he had dizziness nausea and vomited after taking zofran (a migraine medication). For some reason his platelet count dropped incredibly quick and his white blood cells or antibodies I guess were receiving the message from his spleen to attack his own red blood cells. they did 2pints worth of transfusions and they were entirely rejected, and they cant remove the spleen without him bleeding out. now i just got the data and his platelet count is very low like 10,000 low and hes losing his vision- the doctors dont know what it is and have very few options. and i know its worse than bad, I know theres not much more room for it to get worse Im just doing what i can to understand what it is even though I know im no doctor or specialist and that the team working on him will know the best course of action. That being said from talking with some professionals I know and doing a lot of reading I believe he has idiopathic thrombocytopenia and (AIHA) hemolytic anemia, which are attributable to a very rare autoimmune disorder called Evans syndrome... idk if im right but it looks like steroid medications can be used to suppress the immune system and decrease the production of antibodies after which I assume a transfusion can be attempted again? and if his blood levels/platelets are high enough and the immune system isnt destroying the new blood or at least not as fast they should be able to operate and remove the spleen? sorry for the long message and i really appreciated the video
In a few weeks I am going to start pilot training in the army, I did a blood test it said I had only 108 platelets, the minimum is 150, I did another test it said 118, another one after said 104, I did a blood smear last week I'm waiting for results, I am 20 years old and I am as healthy as it can get. What are the chances my platelets are clotting together inside the tube? The results are crucial as if I will keep having under 150000 I won't be able to get accepted!!
Wait for the peripheral smear results. Try to talk to a doctor who has experience (and a brain) because 118,000 is ok as long as all other labs are normal. You are NOT at a higher risk of bleeding just because your platelet count is mildly decreased. I totally understand that there are rigid rules in the army. A doctor with experience may be able to justify your enrollment. Good luck! Thank you for your service!
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Everything else is great!, only the platelets level is low, sorry for misleading, i am not in the US but in Israel. the rules are pretty rigid as you say, they don't want any medical problem throughout all the enrollment, i heard of one guy who had 140 and got dropped, as if it's not enough. it's like you have to be perfect, only thing i can do is hope for the best. So is there no answer to what are the chances of my PLT clotting in the tube? is it rare? or common? some peace of info that will help me hang while waiting for the results? thank you very much :)
Prednisone will work if thrombocytopenia is idiopathic/autoimmune. If Plt count doesn’t come up (considerably), esp after transfusion than you should definitely question medication induced. Thank you so much for your great video! You are hilarious 🤣

Thanks for your question. You need to see a doctor and get a complete blood count...Your platelet count must be discussed in light of medical history, physical exam, and other lab results. Best of luck!
It's a little low, but not worrisome as long as all lab parameters are fine. Since you mentioned that you had iron deficiency anemia, it's important to get your labs checked regularly as recommended by your doctor. I wish you the best!
There are many causes of thrombocytosis (high platelet count): you can watch my video about it: Thrombocytosis (primary and secondary) | Why Is My Platelet Count High? ruclips.net/video/2fVptmlkhJs/видео.html I strongly recommend he talks to his doctor, because I am not a doctor.
We cannot interpret a lab result on its own...A doctor has to know your medical history and perform a physical exam. Then, the thrombocytopenia can be interpreted together with other lab results as well as history and physical...Please talk to your doctor.

Very interesting video and aligns with what I’ve suspected concerning my mom and the way her clinic is testing her blood and giving her NPlates injections. How can I get in touch with you? I would love to consult with you. Thank you

That’s a good question.

Hellow I just have a question not sure if u could help threw messages but basically 11 years ago I had a heart attack I was 21 22 years old. They put a stent in one of the main arterys an I've been fin till 2019 now I'm 34 an came to hospital with pains when I say run around the block or lunch my boat.
Trying to watch this video since last 2 days.. I don't know what's wrong.. I can see all ur other videos, only this one is not playing.. It starts and then stops after few seconds keep on buffering.. But can see ur other videos at same time without any problem.. I hv to watch this for my exams... Can u do something...?? ☹️☹️😞😞

hey sorry to hear that, glad you got through it 🙏
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis i just realized you commented recently did not know you were active on this video so just reposting my comment here if maybe you will see it
im not a doctor/hematologist or student of science really at all... my cousin was admitted in the icu last weekend and i just found 2 days ago; they didnt know what it was but his spleen had previously been enlarged and he had dizziness nausea and vomited after taking zofran (a migraine medication).
Medicosis Perfectionalis I’m so far recovering
I am happy to hear that you’re getting better 👏

Thank you so much for this helpful video! My elderly mother (84) has a platelet count of 132/L with haematocrit very slightly above range at 0.478 and mean corpuscular volume also slightly above range at 103 fL and mean corpuscular haemoglobin also slightly above range at 33 pg and ferritin above range at 208 ug/L. I have absolutely no idea what this might mean. The GP (who ordered a massive amount of blood tests) has seen these results but did not even mention any of these out of range markers. Can anyone give me any idea of what these markers are indicating? If so, thank you hugely!

You need to see a doctor and get a complete blood count...Your platelet count must be discussed in light of medical history, physical exam, and other lab results.
Best of luck!
My platelet count was 118 during my period.. is this normal ? i also have a little iron deficiency
118 what? 118,000/mm3? Also what's the measuring unit?
Medicosis Perfectionalis
mii/μl, normal range is from 150-450
It's a little low, but not worrisome as long as all lab parameters are fine.
Since you mentioned that you had iron deficiency anemia, it's important to get your labs checked regularly as recommended by your doctor. I wish you the best!

If it has increased substantially, he should probably get it tested. There's a small chance it could be something serious.

Hello sir
I am from India my age 36,my platlates are 50,000 only doctor's told me this is a thrombocytopenia so what can you do please explain me
We cannot interpret a lab result on its own...A doctor has to know your medical history and perform a physical exam. Then, the thrombocytopenia can be interpreted together with other lab results as well as history and physical...Please talk to your doctor.
Are you getting treated for this
