Platelet count is one of the lab tests used by a doctor or a hematologist to assess whether your platelet number is normal, low (thrombocytopenia) or high (thrombocytosis).
Bleeding 🩸 time (BT) is another test for platelet function.

Hey man loved your video, just another way I remember aPTT and PT is that you Play Table Tennis inside (intrinsic) and you Play Tennis outside (external).
Great
wow that's actually really good
I like it!
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis OPS , Great that you like it after 8 month 🤣🤌
Haha 🤣
Every lecturer should take note! This is how they should be teaching! Detailed, fun yet no nonsense. A very interesting and informative 19-minute video that is way better than a 2-hour university lecture! :)
Wow 🤩
Thank you so much, Rachel!
Your kind words mean a lot to me!
I love this! Finally someone who speaks quick enough to keep me interested and not mentally wandering off to other topics. Great level of detail as well! Thank you very much for this!
I love the way you interject mirth in almost all "strategic" points, and appropriate quotes each time. You definitely take off a lot of psychological and emotional load from the way you present this convoluting processes. God bless to you, and keep this up.
God bless you too, Catherine!
I appreciate you so much!

You make problem-based learning sessions so much easier for me and my group; our proctor/professor goes so quickly through the tests that we never get a good explanation for what they actually mean. Thank you for being my online professor!
My pleasure 😇
When I wake up in the morning,I just watch your videos! What a simple and clear explanation...!!!
Thank you so much 😊
Awesome note explanation and really appreciate all those references and jokes. Found your video while searching for DIC in Covid-19 patients.

Just I typed Blood coagulation tests..
U tube take me in the magical world of medicine..😍❤️📖👨🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️
Love from India .🙏🏻😷
Great video! Just a note, the Pro time usually is not prolonged with therapeutic levels of heparin because the reagent contains a heparin neutralizing agent.
Another side note is when you were describing drvvt testing, you mentioned patient's serum, but we still use plasma! (The blue top)
hi i had some tests done in november and my fibrinogen levels were really low but the doctors are not saying anything about it. my rbc platelet count dropped by almost 100 also. it was normal in bloodwork i had done just a cpl weeks before in two separate labs. what cld that possibly mean. im suddenly experiencing joint, muscle and internal inflammation and now losing weight and even though i’m still eating. one doc is saying it looks like RA bcuz i started experiencing some swelling in my right thumb knuckle but only in my right hand
شكراً لك♥️ شرح ممتاز ♥️
Thanks, Excellent explanation
Haha I love the "Lenin, may he rest in peace" part XD

Why do we get INR from PT and not from PTT?
Please answer 🙁

Great video! I have a question. If you are kind enough to answer i would really apreaciate it! Why it is easier to track heparin via
PTT and warfarin via PTT?
Thank you for these beautiful videos they really help. I have a question, what is the 'partial thromboplastin" why is the test that measures the intrinsic pathway called activated partial thromboplastin test while thromboplastin is the key factor in the intrinsic pathway?!!
Hello what would you say the PROTHROMBIN TIME should be for INR 2.1?
I love you so much! When I graduate and start working I am going to donate a large sum of money.
Thank you so much, dear :)
I really appreciate it!
You are a legend 🤩 I enjoyed and learned at the same time 😊
Deficiency of Vit K why not affect prolong pTT as it share in synthesis of coagultion factor in intrinsic pathway?
As usual amaaaazing 🌸🌸🌸🌸
Thank you
you are so funny and informative! enjoyed this video. thanks!
My pleasure 😇
I love how simple you make it for all of us!
Thank you so much for your continuous encouragement!
thanks very much for the video ! BUT I don't understand why Warfarine (Antagonist VK) prolong TT ? because Thrombin is the reagent that we add so we don't need factor 2 (who need VK) for the reaction ...thanks
Loved your video, cheers!
AT 13:20, Warfarin will not increase thrombin time since it works by inhibiting the synthesis of vitamin K that will affect the synthesis of prothrombin, however in TT test, thrombin is directly added to the plasma
loved the way u made it so funny...i ll remember everything for sure
Best informative and funniest 19 mins of my life during stressful exam times 😅😂😂
Wow 🤩
Thank you 🙏
Good luck with your exams!
I have a question. How does dRVVT detect APS if both are coagulants? APS causes dimerisation of beta2GP1 and causes activation of Factor XI. dRVV activates factor X. Both cause coagulation eventually. How does adding dRVV help in detection of beta2GP1 in a APS patient's plasma, then?
Best lecture the which I enjoyed and learned at the same time your teaching methadology is superb bro ❤️ wanna see millions of subscribers for this channel

Great content as always man! Your Egyptian "r" showed up a bit in there HAHA!
If I ever come to America, or any other English speaking country for that matter, I plan on retaining my rolled "r", because I find it very difficult to pronounce the American "r" especially the "r"s coming in succession.. Any advice on rrretaining my accent? :)

Dear M.P. it was awesome, like always. I had one last thought at the end: "Rolls-Royce?... it might feel like that from behind the wheel (for you) but surely it feels a Lambo Diablo from the passenger's seat." 😊 Special thanks for the warfarin info - on the platelets.

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis no man thank you, you put my teachers to shame, my only regret is that I wish I knew this information could be found on youtube years ago
You are such a genius! your help is priceless!
does anyone have an answer for why liver disease causes prolongation of PT and aPTT? I understand that it does, but can't find a reason why despite the links with prothrombin production and vitamin K
Because liver produce the factors which helps in coagulation process. So if liver is damaged then factor will be low in blood and clot won't happen thus PT and APTT will be prolonged. Simple!
Did u just quote Nietzche in a pathology video? 😂 I like it

Hi Medicosis in antiphopholipid syndrome I thought APTT is elevated in vitro, is PT also prolonged?
Both can be prolonged.

is their any case that blood clots in time less than the normal range (in less than 2 minutes)?
invitro clotting
Are you talking about BT, PT, PTT or TT?
hey medicos, I really appreciate your videos very great work and I totally watch them helped me a lot thanks for that but I have once concern
during 12:15 warfarin should prolong PT and heparin should prolong PTT unlike what you wrote, this information is from Amboss if am wrong please correct me
thank you and AMAZING VIDEOS KEEP IT UP
Heparin prolongs both PT and PTT.
Warfarin prolongs both PT and PTT.
However, in the lab, clinically speaking, it’s easier to track heparin via PTT and to follow up with warfarin via PT.
Why PT is prolonged when fibrin split product elevated and when the antiphospholipid antibody elevated?
In which disease?
My favorite medical channel
Thank you 🙏

Hello! Can you tell me why does fibrinogen increase in inflammation Where I can find the explanation for this? Thank you!
It’s an acute phase reactant. The liver is working like crazy during inflammation.
Sir I would like to ask if you have uncorrected pt and aptt what should be your next step? is it mixing studies oe drvvt?
What do you mean by “uncorrected”?
Great video 👌
