Ninja Nerds!
In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will be presenting on Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the body's germ-fighting immune system. In Hodgkin's lymphoma, white blood cells called lymphocytes grow out of control, causing swollen lymph nodes and growths throughout the body. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

I think you made a mistake on staging HL. Both side of diaphragm in stage 3 is above and below, not left and right based on spine.
This dude single handedly makes medicine easy for me
My guy Zach here is making my hematology rotation so much easier. Thanks a lot bro
Do you have any suggestion where to watch surgery lectures?
I was diagnosed with HL last week. I’ve watched this 3 times, and it is so well done! I have a really good handle on what’s happening in my body thanks to this. Really educational stuff
6 years in remission over here. You're going to get through this, you wont know how you'll get through it, but you will. Good luck to you, you've got this
@@chloeclo7 thank you very much. PET results came this morning: stage 1A. About as good a starting place as could be… I mean as the video states any stage is curable, but the lesser the better
I was also diagnosed with this type of cancer during pandemic. Thankfully, I've fully recovered. Hope for your fast recovery!
@@DaveSolis303 so far so good. 1 cycle of chemo so far with one to go. My neck lymph nodes are completely shrank down to normal looking at this point. I’m feeling good
I've been in remission for 9 years. Glad to hear you caught it early Daniel! Stay strong Brother
much love to all of your team. but you especially zach have a special place in my heart.
Hello from Brazil , I just wanted to say that I really like your classes they are very detailed and very well explained , whenever I have to remember some basic concept I go back to one of your videos and suddenly everything makes sense , yours enthusiasm for teaching is contagious and on top of that you make it all available for free on youtube and on your website it seems almost too good to be true, and I just wanted to thank you and your team.
recently just finished my treatment for hodgkins lymphoma stage 2 and ever since i finished treatment i have been so incredibly curious of how it works, so thank you so much for this video!!
Nursing school student here, the deep dive really helps me understand and remember symptoms and treatments. Thank you!
I'm a physical therapist,so this is not even something i need to study but i started watching your videos a while ago and i just can't stop
I’m crazy about your videos! Thank you, each member of the team!!
Don’t know what to say, more than that I am Sao impressed over your teachings skills. Keep it up! Regards from Sweden
65+ retired Parmacist here just keeping up. So much advanced biochemistry and pharmacokinetics here. Thanks so much. 😊
god bless u doctor zac i hope every medical student gets to see your videos once in theyr years of studying . hyped to see non hodgkin lymphoma next 🙏
Thanks Zack, consider doing an immunology playlist in your future plans, it will be awesome
great as always!! Just one observation: one side of diaphragm or both sides of diaphragm means above or below the diaphragm, not left or right.
Thank you for all the videos! They really help a lot!
THAT WAS REALLY IMPRESSIVE WAY OF TEACHING, AND KNOWLEGABLE
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
This talk is so good, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for clear explanation and elaboration.
You have made a subject that can be so difficult to learn, so much easier. Thank you!
Thumbs up team!!!
Thought very necessary to add that the Ann Arbor staging got muddled along the way viz:
* ' On either side of the diaphragm ' refers to grom chest upwards and abdomen below as opposed to on either side of the chest.
"A single extra nodal involvement is still stage 1 in the absence of a lymphadenopathy .
I was looking for this comment
You are the best
I smashed my seminar today all thanks to your notes prof.Zach
This is probably the most advanced lecture i saw about Hodgkings. I really love the way you lecture, and with all the stuff writen and showned. I just wanted to tell you that you should add on this video about 5 minutes about radiation therapy in treating Hodgins. I am medical physicist and we radiate lot of patient with Hodgins, cervical , clavicular, axilary, mediastinum, and nodes bellow diaphragm. Keep doing i really loved your work
Zack you're wonderful!!! this video make my information go high in Hodgkin's Lymphoma and that's because of your very good tutoring. best luck for you man.
Thank you P Zac. You're amazing❤️
Thank you professor Zach, you are amazing ❤
You have really really helped us so much by making it crystal clear, very easy to understand, very easy to memorise!! Thanks a tonn!!!❤❤❤
What a video. Thank you so much for this presentation. May God bless you
Very well done. I am a trainee in radiation oncology and found this so useful!
Top notch as always

So helpful thank you guys!!
Just diagnosed with non Hodgkins lymphoma. So I'm watching this first and then the non Hodgkins video. I love how you explain with you drawings and knowledge. 2024. I'm getting monoclonal antibodies. Gazyva and Venclexta!! newest rx
This is soo supercool, the illustrations, the methodology the sync of the topic is bang on
I hit the like button before I even start lol really I can’t thank you enough
And the way that you teach and simplify things is just amazing it makes me want to learn more
Thanks a lot 🙏
As a hodgkin's lymphoma survivor of 30+ years will be cool to see a deep dive into the mechanisms involved!
What's cool?? It's a disease
@@dustlessbard007 did you have Hodgkin's?
@@wsclesky chill bro. So you mean this video is perfect for seeing a deep dive into the mechanisms?
Glad You're alive!
Kindly help me in this disease bcoz my uncle has thi Hodgkin's lymphoma and we are worried that whether we should go for chemo we don't know what to do and uncle is becoming weaker n weaker day by day ...
Amazing lecture prof 👏🏻
Thanks a lot , your lessons are just amaizing and organised please continue
Perfect dear teacher you are an international teacher I follow your videos from Afghanistan .
Thank you for the video!!!
You're simply amazing teaching, congrats, keet it up, from Brazil!
Thank you so much ☺️
Really great presentation
I love your classes. Thank you 😊
Love how detailed this is, have my radiation therapy board exam coming up, than you!!!!!
really love ur lecturers, if may I ask can u make microbiology and pathology full course ❤️ and thnx
Great video. The description of stage III CHL was stated correctly, but I think the drawing for stage III is slightly incorrect. While it includes both sides of the mid-line (which is shown in the diagram), it also includes both sides of the diaphragm, which was clearly stated, but not draw on the diagram.
❤❤❤❤❤ We can see the dedication of your loving parents through your emence knowledge and way of educating this world with your amazing presentations.
Love you little boy and your kind parents
Dear zach please rectify ann harbor staging , if H.L is present on both sides of diaphragm above and below not side by side it is stage 3 and if on same side it will be either stage one or two
That's not quite right. Just the neck (one side or both) is stage 1. Neck and chest is stage 2. Neck, chest and abdominal area is stage 3. Neck, chest, abdomin and groin is stage 4. Speaking as a stage 3 HL survivour
@@chloeclo7 Stage I:
involvement of single lymph node region or single extralymphatic site
Stage II:
involvement of two or more lymph node regions on same side of diaphragm; may include localized extralymphatic
Stage III: involvement of lymph node regions on both sides of the diaphragm; may include spleen (Ills) or localized
Stage IV: diffuse extralymphatic disease (e.g. in liver, bone marrow, lung, skin)
Hodgkin's Disease
Thanks Zach 🎉🎉
Outstanding!
Bro is a legend for making these videos
Thank you so much!
Thank you Zach
Wow
Awesome explanation
these 'funny-looking' doodles actually pack more knowledge than what I've accummulated through my 2-month course
We all love this guy , its just what it is .
Watching sir Ninja lecture exactly after three years.
Thanks u made it very simple
Amazing lecture 👌👌👌
Please make a video about Osteonecrosis, it's causes and treatments.
World class tutorial ❤️
You are the best ninja nerd
The best way to teach medicine is your way👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
wonderful teacher
Thank you! 🤍
Zach in my soul❤
Another great vid.
Awesome lecture 🤍
Fantastic
Very clear and pleasant way
But in staging in min 52 (both sides of diaphragm means above and below diaphragm not to the right or left ) thanks for the magnificent lecture
Amazing vid and information as always but i just wondered if you can cover some basic (would love in depth info btw) info about x ray anatomy and relations with certain most common physiological diseases like for example: how a HL mediastinum would look like in a radiologist's perspective in case of a chest x ray!
Thank you sir...❤
Top notch sir!!
I don't ever drink, and the main reason is that for a few years I experienced pain in the back of my head everytime I drank alcohol. Thanks to this video I now know why. Very common in people with HL
really very grateful for the video 😇😇
Hi just after my first chemo shoot for Stage 1 classical Hodgkin's lymphoma multicellular. Looking for some understanding. Can only say finally found. Thank you.
Thank u zach u are the best
Great job
Thanks zach❤
A Kenyan medical students. You really help me out
Thank you!😊
Thank you so much :)
Great lecture, really helpful - just provinding feedback regarding lymphoma staging - Stage 3 is both sides of the diaphragm whereas your illustration has an ipsilateral/contralateral depiction.
You are the best!
Dear Dr. Zack,
I am very grateful for all your amazing videos. They are of a great help.
But Regarding the Staging of Hodgkins lymphoma, it is determined according to the presence of lymphadenopathy above or below the diaphragm. not the right or the left sides of the body
Stage I: Either of the following means that the HL is stage I:
HL is found in only 1 lymph node area or lymphoid organ such as the thymus (I).
The cancer is found only in 1 part of 1 organ outside the lymph system (IE).
Stage II: Either of the following means that the HL is stage II:
HL is found in 2 or more lymph node areas on the same side of (above or below) the diaphragm, which is the thin muscle beneath the lungs that separates the chest and abdomen (II).
The cancer extends locally from one lymph node area into a nearby organ (IIE).
Stage III: Either of the following means that the HL is stage III:
HL is found in lymph node areas on both sides of (above and below) the diaphragm (III).
HL is in lymph nodes above the diaphragm and in the spleen.
Stage IV: HL has spread widely into at least one organ outside of the lymph system, such as the liver, bone marrow, or lungs.
Thank You.
PLEASE POST MORE BIOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY RELATED VIDEOS ZACH, IT'S BEEN SOOO LONG.
Suggest a topic, it will be more easier for him then
Thank you very much
Thank you so much Prof Zack I requested for this lecture on Hodgkin's lymphoma and you honoured my request, I'm so grateful. This really made my day😩❤❤
that's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo exceptional explanation , oh god you are a genius !!
This guy z heaven sent💯
Thanks alot for such wonderful content and it's free
Although it's heart breaking that people like a stupid video nth times and don't care to give positive reviews here on this much hard work done by you
Only the greatest respect for you❤
Any interaction, whether positive or negative, shoves him up the algorithm. Basically, the algorithm’s logic is “Well if they’re interacting, they must want more people to see it so they agree with them!” so you can stop complaining about nonexistent problems
50:44 i thought same side meant lymph nodes were grouped together superiorly vs inferiorly (as in the cutoff is the horizontal line that demarcates above vs below diaphragm) not left vs right (hemidiaphragm) can somone confirm?
yes, the classification shown in the video is wrong. If you do a google search of ann arbor classification (Lugano's revision) you'll find the right one.
Yes, absolutly right!
Thank you❤
amazing video! thank you from a pharmacy PGY2
My cousin has just been diagnosed with T cell rich B cell lymphoma
She originally went to her Dr 15 months ago with Autoimmune hemolytic anemia that was treated with Rituxinab and Prednizone.
After getting her Hemoglobin up within a normal range they attempted a sample from the bone marrow with no success and decided to wait and see how her response was.
About two months later anemia was back so they added a drug used in transplant patients along with more Rituxan infusions. They made note her spleen was enlarged but thought possibly due to Covid. ( she did contract Covid two weeks prior to this second bout with anemia)
She just continued to improve a bit only to have her hemoglobin dip, seemingly faster each time.
About 6 weeks ago she collapsed, they put her in the hospital and decided her spleen has to go. It was 5-7 times the normal size loaded with cancer.
She became very confused. Very anemic and on top of that they found hypercalcenia.
Her result of Bone marrow sample said 95% cancer. Not sure what they mean by that.
They’ve recently said she has T-cell rich Bcell lymphoma.
Help!! I’m guessing this is really bad!
hello professor Zach, good job keep it up, my comment is on the staging " on both sides of the diaphragm" is to mean above and below the diaphragm, not right and left sides
Amazing video. I hope they will ask about hodgkin’s lymphoma on exams for my English Language and Literature degree :)
Hello from India, your lecture are very helpful, thanks 🙏
Can i get the written note
Have been in remission 3 years now with hodgkin’s lymphoma. Pretty interesting to see how it all goes about within this video.
Congratulations on your current and continued remission status! - TG
