Edward Norton cookin' beer brats! just kiddin'... but seriously, this was a great method for beer brats and I followed just the way you did these....came out GREAT! Thanx for sharing your method!
Hey City never knew you did this, just found this...I will do these for sure, just got some brats....looks really tasty, love the bagette idea ...live near Sierra Nevada country...good choice.
The trick to the cast iron pan on the Q is the handle can't be too long or the lid won't close. But man, these came out great. And yes, Sierra Nevada is one of my favorite beers.
Great recipe. Thanks for posting. Just my experience but I did both poking holes with toothpicks and once without holes and they seemed to hold the flavor more without. Looking forward to trying more of your recipes!!
One of my first videos. Interesting that you're commenting on this as I am currently planning out another brats video. Thanks for watching and keep on grillin'.
This is fun. Brian the algorithm is pulling up these older vids of yours and beer brats. This goes back aways, your voice sounds different ( younger but also maybe your microphone system then) .Great seeing the fire escape. Really great seeing the " Q" in the original bright green color. Again, have a great day. 👍
Hey Victor! I'm not sure how all the RUclips algorithms work. I feel like if I'm not posting every week, I get screwed. It's really a full-time job that doesn't pay that well, unless you get huge.
@@GallaghersGrub Well I have been doing my research. I have sooo much more time for myself then I have had for the last 3 years. Anyways, so yes, the algorithm tracks many things in many ways. The frequency of a RUclipsrs videos are part of it. Also the words and how they are said go into the equation. I've really learned a lot the last few weeks. How you set up the channel, the options. It's not just the title but apparently even words spoken in the video. But here's the thing, this isn't to punish the channel creator. It's more like that line in Jerry Maguire " help me help you " . The algorithm is trying to match you up with folks who will like you. So it's like the algorithm is a matchmaker, it's up to you to convince the veiwer to stay. Surprisingly my issue is still how to do the " mechanics " of actually do things like doing downloads, working the computer, camera, etc. But I'm learning and although many have spoken their support I'm not giving up. I occasionally hear your words, until you do it it's just a idea. Thank you for your powerful words. They will never be forgotten. Just like the Sheboygan Hot tub beer brats. Honestly best beer brat ever. So anyway look at how you can cross reference things in the titles and what you say during your videos. Say like " grilling " a steak with a product review some how in the same video, just a example. The algorithm will then try matching you to not just one kind of veiwer but two. You get more folks checking out your channel on the same video. It is best if you can do one video a week. But being consistent is more important. One a week, every other week. Once a month? The algorithm is looking for trends, patterns, that sort of things. Hell, your production and camera work is exceptional. And the way you lay out your shoot and what and how you do your cooks are great. I'm figuring your going to be closing up your lake house soon. When you do how about you and your lovely wife go on a weekend road trip and do a road trip cook? Or when the weather gets to damm cold do some of your in the kitchen cooks. Grill on some cast Iron cookware. I'm feeling a little bit hypocritical saying you need to do videos more consistently when I haven't started my own channel but don't think I'm not working on my channel. I just haven't " started it" so to speak. I want several in the can before I officially start. My goal once started will be to have my videos come out every Tuesday, 52 weeks of the year. Running time between 10 and 15 minutes and will be referred to as the " Early show". 6 or more months from the start I hope to add a video once or maybe twice a month called " The Big Show" that would release on Fridays and would be 20 to 30 minutes long. Like I said I'm working on it really. Damm, how is it I make these comments so long. My apologies. Have a great day/nignt. 🌤🍻🔥
Thank you, sir. Another idea is to put the grilled brats back into the beer mixture for another couple of minutes before pulling. Might be worth a try.
The knife skills could use some work but all in all I'm a huge fan and an avid cook as well! Got 4 grills and 6 smokers in the back yard and recently lifted a q1200 for free with a bad regulator. Fixed the regulator and have really been enjoying the grill and your channel. I think it's awesome you've found a way in the environment provided. Keep on grilling man and just giving you shit about the knife skills!
I've been hooked on grilling/bbq for about 20 years. Living in NYC makes it challenging though. Much easier when I lived in Atlanta. Happy holidays Aaron!
Go Redskins!! very creative with the fire escape. thanks for the videos. just got a Q1200 for the RV.. 3rd weber. E210, 18" smokey Joe and now the q1200. If weber made a smoker like my treager i would by it.
Ugh! Yeah, my G-men stink again this year. Weber makes great grills! I've had a 22-inch kettle, Genesis Silver and the Q. All fantastic! Thanks for watching and good luck to your 'Skins... not really, but cheers anyway!
Yes, it is a 10-inch pan. Just make sure you get one without a super long handle. Also, it needs to sit directly on the grates. The lid will not close properly if you use a roasting rack.
Jim, this was 4 years ago. I think it was high heat. And the seasoning was just some store bought Cajun that I bought in New Orleans. Don't know the name.
I have three Benjamin & Medwin (6.5-inch, 8-inch, 10.5-inch) and one Artisinal (12-inch) cast iron pan. They're not collectible, but they get the job done. Picked up the Artisinal recently at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
great stuff Bru, thnx. love your cooking hate the Giants but I'm going to be watching that Seyquan Barkley! he's going to run over records. bet he'd like yer Braut's!
I was "all in" until you perforated the skin! I spent just over 1 yr in SW Germany and i learned how they "Germans" had been cooking beer brats for Generations, i was shown the "proper way"~ slice an onion into a pan add brats over onions, pour in your preference of beer to almost cover brats, boil in beer for 8 minutes, after 8 mins, remove pan from heat & remove brats, grill brats on all sides till brown, remove from grill, put onions on toasted bun of choice, "brochen" w spicy brown mustard. Enjoy w a good beer! PROST!
I got that poking idea from Steven Reichlen's Barbecue Bible. I did a followup video about 2 years ago you should check out: ruclips.net/video/rSooRvKzfG4/видео.html
@@GallaghersGrub i have beer brats exactly as i described about 3-4 times a month. I have had them both ways, but greatly prefer the way i was shown, in SW Germany, town was called Goepingen. Those brats aren’t going to take on any of that liquid. Poking the brats all you’re doing is losing all the delicious flavor on the inside of them. That’s a cardinal rule you never poke the brats.

Thanks Randy! Beer brats are the best.
Well done 👍 and good luck with the channel
Thanks Alien nation. Appreciate you watching!
What size cast iron skillet do you use on your Q1200?
10.5-inch. You just have to make sure the handle isn't too long.
Love your videos, can't wait to try this one on my Weber Q300!
Go Giants!
Thank you, Linda! Beer brats are the best. Almost can't wait til football season.
I love to watch the NJ Giants.
Damn ipa n Cajun seasoning that’s a great idea 💡 just
IPA anything is a great idea. Cheers Kevin!
Can you tell us the diameter of your cast iron pan?
10.5 inches. Don't get one with a super long handle, or the lid won't close.
I fix my brats pretty much the same way except I throw the veggies on a flat grill before the bun
Thanks for watching, Jim. Cheers man!
What kind of cast iron skillet/pan do you recommend?

Great video, I'll try this tonight
Beer Brats!!!
Was the beer cold or room temp?
I don't remember as this was 5 years ago, but most likely came from the fridge.
Poking imho causes more harm than good. Note: no need to boil, simmer, grill, and return to beer bath if feeding large groups/tailgating
Which grill do you like better ..the Napoleon Travel Q or the Weber Q?
I've never tried the Napoleon Travel Q, but you cannot go wrong with the Weber. Thanks for watching, Todd.
Cooking through the window. Outstanding! You forgot the part about cleaning the grill with a Cowboys jersey though. :)
Thanks GoatMumbler... Or an Eagles jersey... Or a Redskins jersey... Or a Patriots jersey... Or... ;)
What size is that skillet?
10.25-inch diameter
I got the smart living 10" skillet today and it doesn't fit in the q1200
I'd return it and get a cast iron pan with a smaller handle. Cast iron really is the way to go on a grill.
