I'd add "removing the lid" for the next cleaning. The quick release pins make it a snap and it's a simpler way to clean both pieces when they aren't in danger of slamming shut while you're scrubbing/rinsing.

I gave mine the Spring cleaning a few weeks ago. Like you, cleaned the burner tube first then took the dismantled grill to the coin operated car wash after scraping the mess out of the cook box. $4 for 20 minutes. Pressure washed like crazy and left the mess there. The Easy Off is a great idea. My Q is over six years old and will have to replace the burner tube with the next cleaning probably in the Fall of the year. NO complaints.......

I line my Weber Q320 with heavy duty aluminium foil which helps it remain cleaner. I use my grill 3-4 times a week and I replace the foil lining every 1-2 months.
What would be really great is if Weber would produce a liner for the Q, along the lines of the drip pan liner. They’d likely need to get $20 bucks a whack for it, but it’d be worth it.
I disassemble the BBQ like you did but then I use my power washer to blast away the grease and cooked on food. Cleans everything in a few minutes... Been doing that now for the last 7 years...

Weber suggests taking some plastic trimmer wire from your weed whacker and pushing that through the burner tube. It'll knock out any cobwebs in there too. I really wish those grates were easier to clean. That's my only complaint about the grill!
Great video! I just put mine back together today after cleaning it. I actually just took the entire thing apart... including taking the top off and the black plastic frame apart. I then pressure washed the whole thing. It came out super clean with no cleaners or chemicals at all.

I only use my Q for 5 or 6 camping trips per year so every time I get home I simply scrape the big stuff out, disassemble it, and run it through the dishwasher and throw it back together. It looks brand new every time! And it’s so easy.
Hi Steve- which parts do you put in the dishwasher? I’m guessing the lid and the grates and debris catcher, but surely not the base? I think Weber say don’t put the grates in the dishwasher. I don’t know why because they are enamelled after all so won’t rust. Cheers
I put in the shells, the grates, the grease tray, and the burner tube. I dont’t wash the plastic base, the handle, the thermometer, the igniter,or the regulator assembly. Before I reassemble everything I spray the plastic base down with some simple green and wipe it off real good. I don’t really care if Weber says not to put it in the dishwasher I’d rather replace my grill a little early and have a nice clean grill all the time👍🏻

I find it unnecessary but extremely satisfying! A hint from the weber manual: in order not to poke the holes, just take a NEW metal brush and move it ACROSS the tube. It perfectly clened all holes in 5sec
Yeah, it needs to be done once in a while. Usually I just scrape the inside and change the grease pan. This time I needed to get more serious. Flame wasn't working properly.

This is great, but I live on the second floor of an apartment building and can't easily take my grill downstairs to the car wash area and back for hosing down. But I scrape down the bowl after every 3 or 4 uses (or more frequently if I've made something that leaves a lot of fat behind) and scrape the grill with a brush before grilling and sometimes after (so the remnants don't smell the next time I cook; just thinking of my neighbors). I did clean out the holes in the grill bar once and that made a huge difference. My Q1000 is six years old and going strong, and I second the recommendation for the cart.

I leave my grill out in the rain all the time with no issues. The push button takes a battery but it is rubber sealed. So far I've never had an issue and typically one press of the button works every time. This is after 5 years.
Tip from an Aussie who uses and abuses his Weber Q. Get yourself a pressure washer and just smash the base with it. It comes as clean as you got it with oven cleaner in about 5 minutes.
Thanks for this guide, recently bought a Q and was due for cleaning. Weber advises to not use oven cleaner as they say it can strip the aluminium - have you had any probs? Some have said it might just strip the paint. I used a bbq cleaner and came up good.
There are two red buttons on the front. The Q's legs slide into place and the buttons hold the grill there. To remove the grill, just press the buttons down and slide the grill forward.
The Q is a very popular little portable grill. I doubt you can find a better option. Maybe the Coleman Roadtrip. But the Q has the higher domed lid and for me that gives the Q the win.
I do the same thing, I looked it up too. It says not to line the grates with foil and then turning the grill on high, resulting in restriction of air flow damaging internal components. Also about lining the bottom of grill with foil, the bottom is designed to maximize the flow of grease into the catch pan, foil lining the bottom causes creases and ridges which can result in buildup...grease fires, flare ups. I think as long as I change mine every 2 to 3 grills I will be alright.
Thanks for this tutorial. My grill is so clean. I was worried the ignitor wouldn't work after spraying it down. Every thing works just fine and feels like it's brand new again. My only regret is that I didn't wear gloves while using the oven cleaner. It's highly corrosive and can painfully hurt your finger nails and hands. Overall, "Keep on grillin" everyone.😁
Hey Jesse I wore gloves because I didn't want to get my hands all greasy. Good point about the oven cleaner. Also, the ignition on these things is amazing. I have never changed the battery in mine and it still (after 4 years) works on one press every time.
Yes, but you need to buy an extra part- basically a gas hose that will work with the Q grill. These are great grills, I've had mine for over 10 years- but the only thing I've had issues with is attaching full size external propane gas. I have the original Q 220, so maybe this isn't an issue on the newer Q 2200.
Still shooting in 1080p. 4K is a pain in the neck to edit. I'm using a full-frame Sony A7iii with the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 lens, and it's a beautiful set-up. Cheers man!
What size is that bolt? Also I see that they are often rusted stuck. Any tips in replacing them? Original weber ones only comes with a new burner. But if the burner is fine it seems overkill to buy new tubes just for the bolts.
I have literally disassembled my Q yesterday. Soaked it with Simple Green over night in a huge plastic mixing pan from Lowe's and took it up to the carwash to use the "high pressure" wand. The pieces being the support legs, the bottom and the lid. EZ PZ right? Wrong. That was not successful, so back to the house to try something else. Tried some AWESOME from The Dollar Tree store. I had been using Awesome to degrease truck engines and the like with some real good results over the last 10 years or so. NoGo at this station. Wife says that we had some of that citrus degreaser in the laundry room. Tried that and nothing. I do have a 4000psi pressure washer but I am holding off on that for now as I do not have a concrete or paved driveway to set the pieces on. Tomorrow I am going to get some spray oven cleaner. I know most say not to use on aluminum, but it will be a "Wham Bam, thank you Ma am" process. I am trying to get it to where the caked on layer of grease is gone off the lid and the bottom, so I can repaint it with high heat engine paint. The grill is about 6 years old now and it is used every week. It gets cleaned fairly often (every other week - bottom inside, burner tube with the grates each time it is used) and the outside I guess not enough. I love this grill. It is on a hillbilly" tool cart setup with 2 20lb bottles, 2 HFT fold up shelves on each side, wide track stance with 10" knobby tire/wheel combo steerable casters on one side. I live in the southern part of NC so I am playing with the weather (temps below 50 and rain). PS: DAWN dish detergent did not work either.
Lol! Sounds like you like your grill much cleaner than I like mine. A lot of people have commented that the pressure washer works great. I haven't tried it, but good luck Ernest. Love my Q as well. Cheers man!
@@GallaghersGrub Oven cleaner and hose on JET setting got it cleaned up along with some extra vigorous scrubbing. Then VHT Hemi Orange High Temp engine paint for the lid and VHT Flat Black High Temp header paint for the bottom. (Exterior only) Lined the bottom with HD aluminum foil. Just literally came in the house with the lid (missed a couple of places) and am waiting for it to dry completely before doing the "paint set/cure" heat up of the grill before I actually use it this afternoon for Italian sausage and brats. I still need to delouse the cart and repaint, but that will not stop me from grilling. Thanks for the channel, your efforts, the recipes and shared information. Hopefully I will be able to get up to Lake George this coming August. Really missed seeing family and the lake.
Great video! Question. Am I over cleaning my Weber Q? I mostly grill chicken and I always scrape the grill grates clean when I'm done and usually within the 10 minutes that the chicken is left to 'rest' and while the grates are still hot. When we're done eating I go back and scrape some more, use the weber spray, scrape some more and then wipe it all down. It's usually 30-40 minutes of cleaning every-time I grill which is making grilling quite the chore now. So... am I over cleaning or can I get by with just 5 minutes of scraping off the big chunks?
I give mine a deep clean once every 5-7 grill sessions, depending on what I have cooked. Each time (before and after) I grill, I just scrape down with my clean Weber wire brush and ensure the oil tray isn't a hazard. Too much cleaning and too many chemicals might damage your q. And most importantly, it might change your views on grilling. As long as it's food safe and hazard free - you'll be fine. The bbq gets very hot, which kills alot of bacteria.
Any chance you could make a video how you cleaning your griddle? Love my q2000 and the griddle I bought with it, but needs tips for cleaning and maintaining it! Love your cooking vids👍🍖
I wear rubber gloves and wash it in the sink with soap, hot water and a sponge. It's porcelain coated, so you can use soap unlike regular cast iron. Just try not to get grease all over your sink.
I'd add "removing the lid" for the next cleaning. The quick release pins make it a snap and it's a simpler way to clean both pieces when they aren't in danger of slamming shut while you're scrubbing/rinsing.

Thanks for the video. Especially cleaning the nozzle holes part makes me stop purchasing Weber Q. You saved me!
The Q is a very popular little portable grill. I doubt you can find a better option. Maybe the Coleman Roadtrip. But the Q has the higher domed lid and for me that gives the Q the win.
I line the bottom of mine with multiple layers of foil. Makes cleaning a breeze
Not a good idea. Contact Weber regarding why.
@@jayjackson85 Why? I do the same and have never had issues.
Thanks heaps! My Baby Q hasn’t looked so good since I bought it!!!
That's great. Be sure to check out my 3 part series on cleaning and restoring Weber Qs. You'll love it.
Great video, excellent presentation and to the point, 👍
Thank you Peter. Appreciate you watching.
Definitely a thorough review, great edit too. liked :)
Thank you tjyeee. Appreciate you watching.
Great video, ty.. would you know if the grates can go into a regular oven while it's running through a clean cycle?
I would think yes, but I have not tried it myself.
OMG thank you! I just did this process and it’s perfect! Even cleaner than yours. Lol 😂 thanks so much
Thanks for this tutorial.
I am amazed there are or is no FLAME TAMER. Must be a cheap model. Amazing.
There is in fact a flame tamer. It is part of the grate design as it covers the burners from most falling grease and debris.
Just had a thought, what if I lined the base bowl with foil (underneath the gas tubes) instead and replace the foil when it gets too dirty down there?
A lot of people line their grill with foil. A lot of people put plastic coverings on their couches too. Up to you.
@@GallaghersGrub Uuh, not the same 😂
Thanks for the great video! Very helpful and motivating.
How do you clean your grates if they have mold on them?
Also any tips on repainting the outside of the fire box and lip?
Any high heat spray paint would work. $4-5 bucks at Lowes
I love my Weber Q!
It's a great little grill. Easy and convenient.
Thank you 🎉
Use brillo pads instead of sponge👍🍻
I want to buy one it’s gonna be perfect for my little porch, Is it possible to connect to the regular size
propane gas? Thanks for you help.
Yes, you need an adapter hose.
awesome vid!
Thanks James. Appreciate you watching.
Great vid - yet again! Great camera used to film as well... 4K? Cheers dd
Still shooting in 1080p. 4K is a pain in the neck to edit. I'm using a full-frame Sony A7iii with the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 lens, and it's a beautiful set-up. Cheers man!
Very nice! Thank you 👍
Thank you! Mine is gross and only one side works. 😂
What size is that bolt? Also I see that they are often rusted stuck. Any tips in replacing them? Original weber ones only comes with a new burner. But if the burner is fine it seems overkill to buy new tubes just for the bolts.
I just popped a new regulator in my Q. 15 years and running like new.
15 years! You are an early adopter. Cheers Paul!
How did you know you needed a regulator
@@joannkokindo768 would not get to temperature.
Great video 🇬🇧
Thanks
You're very welcome. We did a couple of Weber Q restoration series if you're interested.

It is on a
hillbilly" tool cart setup with 2 20lb bottles, 2 HFT fold up shelves on each side, wide track stance with 10" knobby tire/wheel combo steerable casters on one side.
I have a one piece grate which has broken recently. Does any one know if I Can I use the 2 piece grate to replace it?
Instead of a safety pin, I opened a large metal paper clip...made it easy to hold on to while poking the holes clear.
Nice. Some of the holes were really clogged on my grill. This made a huge difference.
Scrape grills to stop cross contamination.
Clean the grill box to prevent grease fires from too much build up.
thanks weber dude
Thanks for watching. Appreciate it. Cheers!
GREAT JOB!!! Thanks sooooo much!!! This was Very Helpful😀
Glad it helped! Don't miss the video I put out today. Part 1 of 3.
Thanks for sharing your spring cleanup tips! I was wondering how you wash the Weber Q griddle, do you also use hot water & soap?
Yes, Weber recommends hot water and soap to clean the griddle. It is porcelain enamel coated cast-iron so using soap is fine.
great video. one question, how do you disconect the burner tube to the level control?
I'm not sure what you mean. The burner tube is held on by the one screw that attaches to the base of the grill.
City Escape Griller yes, but from the side where you control the flame level. Is there also a screw?
@@luismiguelarteagabeitiaval437 No, just the one screw.
What about the outside Of the Weber? What to use to make the black stuff shine?

Nicely done.
Thanks RVing Sooz. Weber Q seems like the perfect grill for the RV life.
Are your grids porcelan coated cast iron?
