My husband got us a Q 3200 last week. So far we love it. I’m glad I found your video.
I hope you subscribe to the channel. I'm approaching 100 videos now, most of which are Weber Q recipes and tips.
Tip from an Aussie who uses and abuses his Weber Q. Get yourself a pressure washer and just smash the base with it. It comes as clean as you got it with oven cleaner in about 5 minutes.
Thanks for the idea. Appreciate everyone watching in Australia!
I'd add "removing the lid" for the next cleaning. The quick release pins make it a snap and it's a simpler way to clean both pieces when they aren't in danger of slamming shut while you're scrubbing/rinsing.
Great job buddy I cleaned mine last week it's spotless well almost. I spotted the release pins and removed the lid and cleaned it in the kitchen.
it's the end of the summer so you need to clean it for the winter as it's very humid, damp and mould is rampant in Irelands winter. I'm very happy with you intuition on how to remove the burner I thought the bolt was just holding the electric starter 5* thanks I will remove this and clean it on the weekend..... Look forward to watching your cooking videos Mr Gallagher......
You the man from Brian in 🇮🇪
very good instructions 👍
Thanks Bruco. Appreciate you watching.
Weber suggests taking some plastic trimmer wire from your weed whacker and pushing that through the burner tube. It'll knock out any cobwebs in there too. I really wish those grates were easier to clean. That's my only complaint about the grill!
Thanks for stopping by the channel, Grill Top. Your cleaning vids definitely inspired this one. Cheers man!
I disassemble the BBQ like you did but then I use my power washer to blast away the grease and cooked on food. Cleans everything in a few minutes... Been doing that now for the last 7 years...
I may have to invest in a power washer. They seem to be pretty handy.
Dear Brian, spring is everywhere in your colourful video. Although as Oscar Wilde said, a flower blossoms for its own joy 🤣. Take care🤗... Lefteris🇬🇷.
Thanks as always Lefteris. Here in the U.S. this upcoming weekend is Memorial Day weekend which is the unofficial start of summer. Will be interesting to see how things go this year.
I find it unnecessary but extremely satisfying! A hint from the weber manual: in order not to poke the holes, just take a NEW metal brush and move it ACROSS the tube. It perfectly clened all holes in 5sec
Thanks for the tip. Appreciate you watching.
Have any tips on how to motivate myself to clean my grill?!
It's a bit of a pain, but you will be happy in the end. Cheers Clayton!
What size is that bolt? Also I see that they are often rusted stuck. Any tips in replacing them? Original weber ones only comes with a new burner. But if the burner is fine it seems overkill to buy new tubes just for the bolts.
Have used my weber grill several times this is the first time I had a problem with the tubes being clogged up. Now I know what to do thanks
Taking the tube off and cleaning it is very easy. Poking a pin through the holes is easy too. Cheers Shelly!
I gave mine the Spring cleaning a few weeks ago. Like you, cleaned the burner tube first then took the dismantled grill to the coin operated car wash after scraping the mess out of the cook box. $4 for 20 minutes. Pressure washed like crazy and left the mess there. The Easy Off is a great idea. My Q is over six years old and will have to replace the burner tube with the next cleaning probably in the Fall of the year. NO complaints.......
The car wash... I love it! Great idea Michael.
@@GallaghersGrub A lot better than handle with grease and chemicals on the lawn.
@@GallaghersGrub Thank you a lot!! Keep on grillin.......
small pressure washer is quicker. ha my 2200 for 6 yrs or more and i clean it after every rv trip. still looks new. thanks for video.
I definitely need a pressure washer. Thanks man!
Still enjoying my Q. It’s been our go to grill for two years while full timing in Airstreamairs.
Today
I learned I can remove the burner tube. Sure makes it easier to clean. Thanks!
I was amazed at how much crap came out of that tube. I got my Q in 2016 and hadn't taken it off until now.
I use my Q1200 in my trailer also. I modded the grill to use the propane attachment at the back of the trailer. Works like a champ and I don’t have to carry extra propane just for the grill
Instead of a safety pin, I opened a large metal paper clip...made it easy to hold on to while poking the holes clear.
Nice. Some of the holes were really clogged on my grill. This made a huge difference.
Had no idea that I could remove gas line to clean my weber! Thanks for the important tip which will do next cleaning.Ido clean at least once a month
You might want to check this series we created about cleaning and restoring Weber Qs. I think you'll appreciate some of the tips. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/B5gfvDIoUkU/видео.html
Very satisfying to see the Q getting cleaned. Gives me hopes for mine!
Thanks for the video. Very simple and to the point.

I use OvernOff with a 1200 psi electric pressure washer. Removes all the junk in the box and outside so it looks like new. What is the table you are standing in front of?
Here are some other cleaning tips in this 3 part series:

Very cool brother, I was thinking it's time to do some grill cleaning soon. Hope all is well.
Thanks Cali. Appreciate you checking in.
I line the bottom of my Q grill with foil...after around 3 to 4 grills I replace the foil. Makes cleaning like you did easier.
Nice idea. Thanks for sharing.
I’ll have to try the foil. This grill gets a bit dirty with use
Baking soda and vinegar . Do grill cleaning wonders . Try it and see it for yourself.
Will do. Thanks for the tip.
The "secret" is cleaning more often.
Use brillo pads instead of sponge👍🍻
Thank you! Mine is gross and only one side works. 😂
What a great video, I just finished cleaning my baby q and was mumbling to myself about what a pain it was to try and clean around the gas pipe. I never knew it was just one bolt to remove it. Not ever Weber shows a video this good on how to clean your Weber, so very well done Sir.
If you like this one. You may like the two series I made with one of the moderators from the Weber Q Facebook group. Check the first video here:

Expecting shipment of my Weber Q with stand to arrive today. At the strong "encouragement" of my wife, (we retired and moved into a townhouse) I've forgone my preferred charcoal and will try gas for the first time.
Well, I think you'll be happy. The Q is a perfect grill for a townhouse with regulations. At least you'll be grilling. And it makes a killer steak!
I can't even imagine using a charcoal grill. It requires a level of patience I'll never have!
Never brush the grates. Just clean is soft so the carbon is preserved and the food doesn't stick. Just like the wok (wadjan).
Okay, I admit it, my Q is filthy. I get it! I was hoping no one would notice. Seems I have another weekend project.
Thanks for the reminder ;-D
Have fun! It's always great working with grease.
I guess I not normal since I clean my grills after each use, Always!
Easy after cleaning grates to cool and quick wipe out with paper-towel too the drip tray
Actually, quite a few people have commented that they clean their grills after every use. Perfectly normal.
i haven't cleaned mine in 10 years and five years prior to that. ha!
Lol. Be careful. Grease fires happen.
Try adding sodium bicarbonate in your hot soapy water.
Thank you for the reminder! I need to clean my Weber gas, also! I hope you, and the family, have a great time in the up-coming BBQ season! Stay safe and healthy to you and the Mrs. Best wishes, my friend! 🤙🧧🙏🍷🥩🍗
Nothing is worse than a grease fire ruining a beautiful steak. Thanks for stopping by, Bill.
OMG thank you! I just did this process and it’s perfect! Even cleaner than yours. Lol 😂 thanks so much
Would water damage the igniter.
I leave my grill out in the rain all the time with no issues. The push button takes a battery but it is rubber sealed. So far I've never had an issue and typically one press of the button works every time. This is after 5 years.
Great tip on the safety pin trick! Made all the difference.
Yes, and it was weird seeing all that powdery stuff coming out of the tube.
Personally I let it heat up for 15 20 mins after every cook then just scrub it down with my brush
Great vid mate, some handy tips in there. My Weber Q is now sparkly clean!
Thanks Scott Fitz. Cheers man!
I know what I'm going to do that bank holiday weekend coming! Thanks for the great video! All the best from London, stay safe and... Keep on grilling!
Thanks for watching in the UK. Really appreciate everyone watching overseas.
Hey some Engine Heat paint. Brings it back Shiny new. I did my lid in Red base black looks awesome. Nice change
Agree. My Q used to be green.
For the burner holes, get yourself an oxy acetylene tip cleaner kit, they are basically tiny round files.
Have you seen my restoring Weber Q series. We use a special tool in that to poke the holes. Might be similar to what you're talking about. Cheers!
Great vid - yet again! Great camera used to film as well... 4K? Cheers dd
Still shooting in 1080p. 4K is a pain in the neck to edit. I'm using a full-frame Sony A7iii with the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 lens, and it's a beautiful set-up. Cheers man!
Thanks for this tutorial. My grill is so clean. I was worried the ignitor wouldn't work after spraying it down. Every thing works just fine and feels like it's brand new again. My only regret is that I didn't wear gloves while using the oven cleaner. It's highly corrosive and can painfully hurt your finger nails and hands. Overall, "Keep on grillin" everyone.😁
Hey Jesse I wore gloves because I didn't want to get my hands all greasy. Good point about the oven cleaner. Also, the ignition on these things is amazing. I have never changed the battery in mine and it still (after 4 years) works on one press every time.
I line my Weber Q320 with heavy duty aluminium foil which helps it remain cleaner. I use my grill 3-4 times a week and I replace the foil lining every 1-2 months.
Would a power washer remove more burnt grease after you first treat it with oven cleaner? Or a steamer?
I would assume a power washer would work great. But since I painted my Q it would probably blast off the black paint.
You can put the grill grates on a brick in an oven and turn the oven to "self-clean". They will come out good as new. I do this a couple times a year
Thats's a great idea Carl. I will try that. Scrubbing them by hand was a lot of work. Thanks for sharing.
Look at Carl with the big brain👌
Oh I thought that said in a brick oven.... I'm thinking who the hell has 1 of those at home?!?
Good video, to get the grills really clean, I use a circular wire brush attached to my cordless drill. makes cleaning easier.
Mine almost caught on fire.. Just went on to look this up and it's in my youtube feed! You sir are ahead of the curve.
If you ever have a grease fire, pour some baking soda on it. Should go out instantly.
Keep on grilling!!! Enjoy the rest of your day. Cheers!!! Thanks 🙏
Thanks Tim! Appreciate the kind words. Cheers!
I just got motivated to clean mine, going to hit 100 in a couple of days...yuck, Thanks, City
It's not glamorous but once in a while needs to be done.
Nice! Reminds me that I have to do a deep spring clean on mine too. Cheers and keep safe.
Yeah, it needs to be done once in a while. Usually I just scrape the inside and change the grease pan. This time I needed to get more serious. Flame wasn't working properly.
Putting me to shame - now i have a little project this weekend!
This was the first time I cleaned out the burner tube since I got the Q. Was running so poorly, it had to be done.
Good info to know for my new Q, but I think I would spray it with the east off and not scrape it
Great job! Thanks for showing and giving great tips. I have a big fear on my q getting rusty, this video helps
My Q has not gotten rusty and I've owned it since 2016. Never covered. In snow. Rain. Never covered. Never rusty.
@@GallaghersGrub
thanks so much that gave me a peace of mind.
A labor of love!!
Cooked fish on my nice clean grates today. Cheers Daniel!
Thanks for the q's on cleaning your tip. Indeed, very important to keep it clean!
Yeah, I'm actually lucky I didn't. have a grease fire. This thing was filthy.
You should not be hosing with the ignition still attached.
Be very careful those who are following.
I haven't ever covered my Q in any rain or snow storm since I got the grill in 2016. I think Weber has built in some good water resistance to the ignition.
I just popped a new regulator in my Q. 15 years and running like new.
15 years! You are an early adopter. Cheers Paul!
How did you know you needed a regulator
@@joannkokindo768 would not get to temperature.
Remove burner tube. I paint on industrial degreaser, leave for 20 mins and jet wash off. Job done.
Nice. Thanks for the tip.
a fantastic grill the best i have ever had here in south florida we grill all year long and it lasted me almost 10 years the grill grates would die every 2 or 3 years but everything else lasted including the auto ignition
The Weber Q is definitely a great little grill. Thanks for watching in south FLA. Cheers man!
Great video! I just put mine back together today after cleaning it. I actually just took the entire thing apart... including taking the top off and the black plastic frame apart. I then pressure washed the whole thing. It came out super clean with no cleaners or chemicals at all.
That's cool. Since I painted mine last summer, I think it might blast the paint off the top. Otherwise, pressure washer seems the way to go.
I can't get the clips that hold the lid in place off if my life depended on it. Tried EVERYTHING! Apparently they're rusted in place permanently.
@@JG-sz9li could you cut them off/out and just replace with new ones possibly?
@@nicholasbreed3341 if I cut the curved end of the clip, I'd just have a shorter length of metal to work with...still wouldn't be able to pull it out of the holes on the lid, if that makes sense. Pretty sure I'd have to cut the actual lid to get them off...
I just hit the plates with a gerni
It would be better if Webber can coat the inside pan with silicone coating for easier cleaning.
Maybe. It might be a cost thing.
Just a thought but you could probably line the inside with some foil then when it gets dirty remove it and replace it.
How to connect the gas tank I never done before never seen it don't know what I'm doing can u make a video for beginners never used it before
You just screw it on. It's pretty easy.
I am amazed there are or is no FLAME TAMER. Must be a cheap model. Amazing.
There is in fact a flame tamer. It is part of the grate design as it covers the burners from most falling grease and debris.
Great video, ty.. would you know if the grates can go into a regular oven while it's running through a clean cycle?
I would think yes, but I have not tried it myself.
Just purchased the Q a month ago. Love it.
It's a great little grill. You can't go wrong. Cheers man!
This has become my new favourite channel. Thanks for all the tips!!
I'm humbled and very happy to hear. Thank you. More vids on the way, both Q and kettle.
@@GallaghersGrub you ribs video got me on board. I had never done ribs before and I was intimidated because tons of people say charcoal only. The result I got from your video was better than I have had in some restaurants. Keep at it!
Great video, excellent presentation and to the point, 👍
Thank you Peter. Appreciate you watching.
Great video. How is the Q detached from cart?
There are two red buttons on the front. The Q's legs slide into place and the buttons hold the grill there. To remove the grill, just press the buttons down and slide the grill forward.
I been told not to soak the burner. I don’t know what to believe
I don't think it matters either way. Mine still works perfectly.
Hey my dear friend
I just had my deep cleaning a few weeks ago.
You did a great job with your style cleaning it.
Thanks and stay healthy
Dee
Thanks as always Dee. Prost!
This is great, but I live on the second floor of an apartment building and can't easily take my grill downstairs to the car wash area and back for hosing down. But I scrape down the bowl after every 3 or 4 uses (or more frequently if I've made something that leaves a lot of fat behind) and scrape the grill with a brush before grilling and sometimes after (so the remnants don't smell the next time I cook; just thinking of my neighbors). I did clean out the holes in the grill bar once and that made a huge difference. My Q1000 is six years old and going strong, and I second the recommendation for the cart.
Thanks for the great comment Melissa. You really don't need to do a deep clean like this. Just scraping out the grease every now and then and cleaning out the tube and poking the holes is all you really need to do for the most part.
@@GallaghersGrub Yes, I think we do what we can! Anyway, thank you for the great content.
@@melissapayton4126 Got a new video in the works. Keep on grillin'
Get back on the Q u can’t go wrong with it!
I'm on it. Will be making more Q vids all summer.
Great video! I clean mine often but I’ve never removed the burner tube, will try it soon!!
I was surprised by how much junk poured out of my burner tube. Very easy to remove and clean.
You are a mind reader! I was just thinking about needing to clean my Q.
Thanks Knightcommander. Appreciate you watching.
I only use my Q for 5 or 6 camping trips per year so every time I get home I simply scrape the big stuff out, disassemble it, and run it through the dishwasher and throw it back together. It looks brand new every time! And it’s so easy.
That's really cool. It never occurred to me that I could run it in the dishwasher. Thanks Steve.
Hi Steve- which parts do you put in the dishwasher? I’m guessing the lid and the grates and debris catcher, but surely not the base? I think Weber say don’t put the grates in the dishwasher. I don’t know why because they are enamelled after all so won’t rust. Cheers
I put in the shells, the grates, the grease tray, and the burner tube. I dont’t wash the plastic base, the handle, the thermometer, the igniter,or the regulator assembly. Before I reassemble everything I spray the plastic base down with some simple green and wipe it off real good. I don’t really care if Weber says not to put it in the dishwasher I’d rather replace my grill a little early and have a nice clean grill all the time👍🏻
Bro clean it after every cook then it won’t be so hard too clean😂🔫
That's not how I roll. Lol! Plus, I needed it dirty to make a cleaning video.
I have a one piece grate which has broken recently. Does any one know if I Can I use the 2 piece grate to replace it?

I clean my Weber Baby Q after every use, but the tips for a full clean of top and bottom are useful. 😂
You may be obsessive compulsive. Lol! To each their own. Cheers!
Haven’t cleaned mine in about three years. Normally everytime we move. Giving it a clean later this year as we are posting again😂😂😂
I line the bottom of mine with multiple layers of foil. Makes cleaning a breeze
Not a good idea. Contact Weber regarding why.
@@jayjackson85 Why? I do the same and have never had issues.
I do the same thing, I looked it up too. It says not to line the grates with foil and then turning the grill on high, resulting in restriction of air flow damaging internal components. Also about lining the bottom of grill with foil, the bottom is designed to maximize the flow of grease into the catch pan, foil lining the bottom causes creases and ridges which can result in buildup...grease fires, flare ups. I think as long as I change mine every 2 to 3 grills I will be alright.
Thanks for the great video! Very helpful and motivating.
I take mine apart and run it in the dishwasher
Really! And that doesn't get grease everywhere?
Washes that nasty grease right down the drain
How do you clean your grates if they have mold on them?
Just had a thought, what if I lined the base bowl with foil (underneath the gas tubes) instead and replace the foil when it gets too dirty down there?
A lot of people line their grill with foil. A lot of people put plastic coverings on their couches too. Up to you.
@@GallaghersGrub Uuh, not the same 😂
Definitely a thorough review, great edit too. liked :)
Thank you tjyeee. Appreciate you watching.
Very nice! Thank you 👍
Great video! Question. Am I over cleaning my Weber Q? I mostly grill chicken and I always scrape the grill grates clean when I'm done and usually within the 10 minutes that the chicken is left to 'rest' and while the grates are still hot. When we're done eating I go back and scrape some more, use the weber spray, scrape some more and then wipe it all down. It's usually 30-40 minutes of cleaning every-time I grill which is making grilling quite the chore now. So... am I over cleaning or can I get by with just 5 minutes of scraping off the big chunks?
I give mine a deep clean once every 5-7 grill sessions, depending on what I have cooked. Each time (before and after) I grill, I just scrape down with my clean Weber wire brush and ensure the oil tray isn't a hazard.
Too much cleaning and too many chemicals might damage your q. And most importantly, it might change your views on grilling. As long as it's food safe and hazard free - you'll be fine. The bbq gets very hot, which kills alot of bacteria.
Scrape grills to stop cross contamination.
Clean the grill box to prevent grease fires from too much build up.
Any chance you could make a video how you cleaning your griddle? Love my q2000 and the griddle I bought with it, but needs tips for cleaning and maintaining it! Love your cooking vids👍🍖
I wear rubber gloves and wash it in the sink with soap, hot water and a sponge. It's porcelain coated, so you can use soap unlike regular cast iron. Just try not to get grease all over your sink.
Good video, but some tips to make your life easier: 1. Take some kosher salt, cooking oil and an old rag and clean the rag as you would a cast iron pan, numerous RUclips videos on that. 2. Plastic scraper works, but a 1 or 1.5 inch wide paint scrapper does a super job. If you have Compost trash bin, or regular square/rectangular garbage can (not your house, it will be unstable to do this), Remove the sliding catch tray, place you grill on tip of the open garbage can. Now clean and scrape to your hearts content, the gunk falls directly off into the garbage/compost can. Less stuff to clean. Simple green will also work on cleaning the cast aluminum body both inside and out, and no where near as toxic as Oven cleaner. Try it, I think you will find it shortens the cleaning process.
Thanks for the ideas. Much appreciated. For even more ideas, check out this series we made about cleaning and restoring Weber Qs. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/zkgtu3w-utQ/видео.html
I've been looking fwd to my new Q getting a nice build up of residue so i can get that nice Weber flavour, now your saying I have to clean it all off? Im confused..
You don't have to clean it to this extent. But you should scrape the grease down the hole every now and then. Otherwise the grease build-up will eventually catch fire.
This may be a dumb question: I just bought a Q1200, I'm a little behind the times perhaps. I noticed none of these help videos are using charcoal brickets around the burner. I take it's no longer needed for even heat?
Definitely do not need any help. These little Qs provide pretty even heat all around. Another tip is to always grill with the lid closed. The grill performs much better with it closed.
I want to buy one it’s gonna be perfect for my little porch, Is it possible to connect to the regular size
propane gas? Thanks for you help.
Yes, but you need to buy an extra part- basically a gas hose that will work with the Q grill. These are great grills, I've had mine for over 10 years- but the only thing I've had issues with is attaching full size external propane gas. I have the original Q 220, so maybe this isn't an issue on the newer Q 2200.
Yes, you need an adapter hose.
thanks for your time and effort to make this video! I just got a q1200. Looking forward to some grilling but keeping in mind the needed maintenance.
