    Mr Fred you are The Man!! Just completed the retrofit, new burner tube, that great adjustable regulator, and the correct fittings, all from Lowes or Amazon for less than $50. Grill works GREAT!! BTW, I put a mark where I set the adjustable regulator because it can move easily and turn into a blow torch 😊. I may tape it to be even safer. Thanks again, it's burger time!!

    Thanks for the video, my Weber Q2200 is only 3 months old and I couldn’t get the high flame and that’s when I turned to RUclips lol 😂 So I thought before I go rebuilding my new barbecue with a new regulator I thought I would call Weber customer service because my Weber has a five-year warranty, good thing I did call them. The Weber technician walked me through the start up procedures of the barbecue, he said to turn on the propane tank and wait for one minute after one minute light the barbecue. Wow it was like magic I had a hot flame 🔥 so I did it 3 more times and it works perfect now. But I’m still thinking 🤔 I will buy the new regulator and fittings just for a backup in our motorhome. I thought of being out in the boonies with no barbecue would be devastating. 😂

    The temp on my Weber Q was not up to par and it took ages to cook food. Also noticed the flame was somewhat inconsistent across the burner. I've now just cleaned the burners thoroughly with hot soapy water, using a pin to clean out the holes etc.
    Looks ok (still a bit of orange flame here and there) when the lid is up but when the lid's down, the flame completely goes out in certain parts. Then when I lift the lid, the flame comes back on again. Would this be a faulty regulator that needs replacement?

    Hey there, excellent video and thank you for doing so. Amazon accidentally sent me a 5psi regulator and hose with a 1/8in male connection end. Can I just use a 1/8in FIM union to connect the regulator hose to the valve assembly? Could be too much pressure , the grill originally used 1 pound of pressure ! That 20 regulator I have isn't on very high . It will put so much pressure it won't light the grill . Turned down it works great . I set it for the best flame on the low and high setting on the on and off knob !

    I am already running a big tank, so I am guessing I do not need the parts to set the grill up for that. I have very low flame, and now I only get flame on the back 1/2 of the burner. I am thinking that adjustable regulator hose will help me, but should I also need to buy new fittings? Could they be clogged with dirt? Any additional help is appreciated.

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  Год назад +1

      I would definitely remove and thoroughly clean the burner tube. I use a long flexible brush from a kit I bought at Harbor Freight with dish soap and water. A paper clip works great for cleaning the holes. Cleaning the burner tube will eliminate that as the possible problem. Although it is possible for the valve to become compromised with debris, more commonly it is the regulator that develops an issue over time. Contaminants get into the regulator and cause it to malfunction and using flexible rubber hoses increases the likelihood of contamination. LP has is known to leach waxy oils from these hoses which then become contaminants in the regulator. This problem is compounded in hot weather conditions. Here in Las Vegas I am lucky to get two seasons from a regular hose on my charbroil BBQ grill in my back yard.
      The only way that I have found to connect the WeberQ valve assembly is with some adapter fittings like the ones in this video. I have since added a quick-connect to this hose system which allows me to disconnect the my regulator hose and store it under the lid as well as plug it into a camper’s propane system. (That video is on my channel)
      That all being said, factory replacement regulators are available for the WeberQ and they come with a new valve if you want to go that route here is my fill out link for that product amzn.to/3LOKeGb heist
