    Good Stuff Jerry....I have the same Weber as you do....a windy day is my main cause of loss of heating....especially off lake Ontario....i can only imagine in Chicago like Minnesota it would be considerably colder....Thanks a bunch Jerry..cya in the next one!!

      It's pretty tough on some days. I have a front and a back porch... I do most of the grilling on the front because it's brick and shielded from the wind a bit.

    I switched from my Q2200 to my new Spirit E-330 just recently, and there is a noticeable difference.BUT without my first Gasgrill experiences with the Q and Jerry‘s Videos here I wouldn’t have upgraded. So…thanks for your inspiration, your videos and your vibes.
    P.S. Even with my Weber Spirit I will stay with you as a subscribe
    P.P.S. Greetings from Germany.

      I think the biggest benefit to having a Spirit or a Genesis (especially the 3 or 4 burner ones) is that it will now let you truly grill with a hot zone and a cool zone. But I am glad that my videos have helped you in your grilling evolution. At the very least, I will have great recipes that will translate well to other grills. Hope I can help continue to inspire you!

      Yep, you’re right. Cooking for 5 people here, so my Q was hitting it’s limits pretty often. But still a great grill and I don’t want to miss the experience

    Great and correct suggestions on keeping the Q running correctly. I use a paint stir stick to clean my box and then throw it away. For a deep clean of the burner I use Easy Oven Off.

    Great advice and great video! Something I recently experienced was over heating when the regulator was on low. I decided to follow all of your tips plus clean the thermometer! All back to normal now. Love your channel Jerry!

      And good point about cleaning the tip of the thermometer. It's possible any gunk/grease on it will affect it.

    Nice video Jerry, thanks. Never heard of #3 but how to start a Q is just common sense. As for #1 that is just grosss. It is always better to cook on a clean BBQ!

      I would have thought it was common sense too, but it seems to happen enough that it comes up in search as one of the top fixes for low or no flame 🤷‍♂️

    I’m just a middle class person with a tiny home but I do own the property so I have more than one grill but the Weber Q is the best for basic camping or if I want to grill for just one or two people.

      Agreed. The Weber Q works for my household - just two people (plus dog) right now and perfect for a small front porch.

    Jerry first off great channel. Second the type of charcoal or lump can change how hot your grill can get. Lump charcoal burns significantly hotter than regular charcoal

    Hi Jerry, believe it or not: mine, as well as the one of a friend of mine actually reach the 600 F ... Both are pretty new, however it's amazing, and the Rib Eyes and other steaks turn out with a beautiful branding - just amazing .... (located by the lake of Starnberg in the south of Bavaria in summer time ...)
    Fun fact: The saying, that uncleaned grills bring out more flavor probably goes back to an episode of "Married with children" when Al claims making the best burgers because of his non-cleaned (weber) (char coal) grill ...

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Год назад

      I believe it! That said I think I only get close to the 600F mark only if the grills are very recently cleaned AND it is very hot outside.

  • @B12-jr5yp
    @B12-jr5yp 3 месяца назад +1

    honestly the problem with this grill is poor ventilation solution, that’s what causing it not to get hot enough. I have all 3 sizes and I will be moving over to something non Weber next, the Q series is hyped to the roof with very poor performance imho.

    I clean the "screen", just on the outside of the grill, where the gase tube fits in, as well. If that is clogged the gas to air ratio will not be correct which may affect temperarures as well.
    Regards

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Год назад +1

      Hi Francois, that's a great tip as well. One time I went a long time without grilling for whatever reason and that screen had spider webs all over it. Needless to say it wasn't working well until it was cleaned!

    Im on my 3rd regulator on my q1200. Original one,2nd one from weber $75. I got an adjustable regulator off of Amazon and connectors to conect it. Only have $21 total in in. Weber Q regulators are junk. There are many videos on YT about them going bad.

  • @Superdave333

    Thank you for the video. I have an old Genesis model circa 2000 (red in color) that has always been hot on one side and just warm on the other. I always have to cook on the side that is hot. The burners all work, so I am confused as to why it is this way. It appears that it must be on bypass mode, but I have always turned it on in the correct sequence. How long should I wait when I turn the gas on before turning the one burner on that you light first (I was not clear on that part of your video) in order to reset the bypass mode?. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

  • @scottyb4260

    I got a q2200 used and it was definitely struggling and the tube wasn't flaming on the bottom right closest to the regulator. I think this is why it was being sold. First searching I found people saying the regulators are bad. I almost ordered one but decided to clean it up first. Now it gets a flame all the way around but the bottom right is still a little lower than the rest. The grill will heat to 520-550 in 15 mins. Should I assume that it's working fine and the regulator is all good?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  5 месяцев назад +1

      Sounds like it is working fine and that might just be a cool spot on your particular grill.

    Wow your describing my grill 😅. Great tips Jerry ty. What have you used to clean the lid of the grill? I have a 1200 ty

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  11 месяцев назад +1

      You mean the outside of the lid? I honestly usually just leave it alone. If it's a little bit grimy from the rain just a quick rinse with clean water and towel dried.
      Inside of the lid? Some grill degreaser will work, but for heavy duty clean, I'll use oven cleaner. Some people and commenters have said oven cleaner is not recommended, but I have found it to be effective.

    I've got a webber baby q 100.Has no temperature gauge. Any tips please.

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, the 1000 and 2000 doesn't have a built in temperature gauge, which in my opinion was a very odd way for Weber to cut costs on that model. If you are handy, you can buy an after market one and install. I have a video of this process here: ruclips.net/video/-kKiu3F5kbQ/видео.html
      Otherwise, my advice is to invest in a good meat thermometer and always check the temperatures of the food as you grill. There are both wired and wireless options to consider.

    Thanks Jerry. I was curious, would you ever consider jet washing the Q for a deep clean?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Год назад +1

      Yes you could certainly do that. It's probably easier than all the scrubbing if you have the yard and water supply for it.

  • @rubiconoutdoors3492
    @rubiconoutdoors3492 Год назад

    You see the slots that are open on the sides where the wings go ? If its windy , esp cold wind, Im thinking heat escapes through there.

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Год назад

      I believe the slots exist so that propane / gas can safely escape and not build up. On the charcoal version of the Weber Q, the lid closes flush to the cook box.

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  11 месяцев назад +1

      I just learned about the new "N" models. They look very interesting. I unfortunately don't have access to any of these new models as they are only available in Australia, but I will look at the spec sheets and see if there's anything about them that stand out to me.

  • @deej330
    @deej330 5 месяцев назад

    The dirty one showed is def not the reason. I just cleaned my webber Q for the first time in 10yrs. Gross I know. Removed a thick layer of charcoal and grease (up to an inch at the bottom) and all over the plates. It still looks much dirtier than the one pictured and heats to over 600°F easily.

      I mean sometimes the low flame it’s not because of the regulator nor the burners in my case was the hose

    There reason you're Weber doesnt get hot is purely a gas flow issue.
