$20 well spent. I've always been a charcoal guy too. I got into the Q series when I was living in a place that didn't allow charcoal grills. It's great for a lot of things. Including, surprisingly, steak. These Qs cook a great steak! Always good to have a grill for quick cooks: lunch, hotdogs, sausages, when it's raining, basically anytime you don't feel like firing up the charcoal grill. Love to hear your thoughts after a few weeks. Cheers man!

8:55 to prevent metal in the food I always use a wet towel after I scrape with the bristles or I just actually use a stainless scrubby and clean it on the grass with soap and a hose where nobody walks - works great.

Paint stir stick works great for cleaning the bottom of the grill. They are free and bend pretty well. I tend to like the longer ones but I’ve found they work great especially if you don’t want to disassemble the unit. As for the ash catcher, I line it with tin foil. 👍🏼 nice video

I have the Q1000 no thermometer, great grill, I use it several times a week. It is so easy to use. If you are looking at grills walk past all of the units at the Big Box store and go to the Weber section. Cast aluminim will last over 30 years, Weber makes and sells their own parts, unlike most Big Box grills.

Weber makes a tin pan they called the roasting shield. Neither the weber rack or shield are available in the U.S. for some reason. You can use a rack from a toaster oven and a couple sheets of tin foil as the shield. Cheers!

Griddle plate is essential but you can now buy a disposable Weber aluminium tray that goes on the grill underneath the griddle to diffuse the heat. Easier than messing about with foil, makes it very easy to roast.

I must be doing something right since I was able to say "check...check...check..." on all of your top 10. My deviation on the Weber cart is that I bought a used metal tool cart for $15, removed the center tray, replace the thin uprights that went from top to bottom with 1/8" angle iron, put two 20lb bottles in milk crates in the lower tray (fit perfectly) with a braided fuel hose, some 3/16" x 6"w x 28"l flat bar and Harbor Freight 10" diameter knobby tires on casters that allow me to move it around in the sand and grass here in the NC Sandhills. Also a flip up tray on each side for additional food prep surface area. It is heavy duty and I call it my hillbilly grill cart. It might not be pretty but it gets the job done each and every time I use it 3 or 4 times a week. I also have a lid drip tray and grate scraper from Kaon of Australia. Both work as intended and designed. The scraper is great actually. This is for my Weber Q 1200. You have created a grilling monster. I am constantly looking for a deal on a 2200.

One thing though. Whatever grill scraper you get will probably be fine. The Weber ones aren't anything special either and will absolutely also lose hairs over time, just the same as any other brand. The main thing and what's really important, is to blow your grates clean after you've brushed them. A standard mouth and a set of lungs will do the trick 😁

I suggest a smaller version of the 20# propane tank. Bought a 5# tank ( technically it holds 4.5 lbs. of propane ) and adapter hose.
It's refillable just like the bigger tank is and is way less weight and bulk to lug around and sure beats the cost of those 1 lb. canisters. Initial cost is pricey, though. I believe I paid 45 dollars for mine 5 years ago , but just like everything else the price of one of those smaller tanks has gone way up.

Grabbing or edgs surfaces. And the novelty ones, like you're favorite sports team or beer opener, etc. And also just having extras of your favorites because sometimes they get misplaced at the darndest times.
