    G'day from Australia. Yes, I looked at the new Q Plus models and wanted to see some reviews of them on YT (That is why I clicked on this video, I wanted a review). I liked the extra burner down the centre but also wondered about the heat distribution like you did. I am holding off till I see some proper reviews. They have really dropped the price of the old models so they are tempting me as I don't currently have a BBQ (against the law in Australia not to own a BBQ) as I moved interstate and left the old one down in Melbourne. I have to get something soon as it is coming into Summer and people will notice if I don't BBQ occasionally at least.

      Thanks for the comment! It wouldn't be fair for me to do a review without even seeing or touching or using one! I'll almost certainly be getting my hands on one if and when they make an appearance here in the USA.

    Hi from New Zealand
    Love your Channel with all the tips!
    I have the new Family Q 3200 plus model in black with the hot plate, roasting trivet and pizza stone.
    Awesome bbq! I love it.
    It cooks a mean roast chicken with the outer burner on low it sits at a stable 200 degrees celsius.
    I did a low and slow leg of lamb for 7 hours with just the middle burner on low and it sits at a constant 100 degrees celsius. Awesome results, still learning but so far really impressed!
    Regards

      @ChicagoGriller  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment. This is good info as even though you have the big Family Q, knowing that the middle burner runs at 100C by itself probably gives a good approximation as to what to expect out of the new 2800N+

    Hi Jerry, I'm from Australia and been cooking on the Weber Q's since released in the early 2000's, always gone for the model with higher lid and temp gauge. I've recently bought the Weber Q3200 just before the new models were announced and now since seen them in the flesh....ok to me there's just been a slight design of shape and yes some have the middle burners, in particular with the mid model as it's been often said that the heat grunt in the 2200 models were a bit weak compared to it's little brother and big brother but now it seems to have a boost for grilling which is good but the jury is out on the low n slow capabilities at present as they are too new for many to test them, I don't need that myself as I have my Charcoal Kettles to low n slow. I'm cooking frozen pizzas on my Q3200 as I type this to you......Mine is the Natual gas version and I've been told by my local Weber dealer that the Natural Gas version won't be available till either December or early 2024. Just to finish, you will get them eventually but I think the reason that Australia and New Zealand has been the release location is because we are now coming up to BBQ season now (summer) and Australia is the top sales location for the Weber Q, they still sell like hot cakes 20 plus years later. And as you can see, they come in all sorts of wonderful colours.....cheers from Australia

    hey, Jerry! I am in Wellington, New Zealand, and will be getting the new "sky blue" Q3200N+ once it releases for shipment around 3 November.
    I've also preempted the purchase by buying a 9kg bag of cherry wood pellets, so I FULLY intend on making use of its low-and=slow capabilities ;)
    We've been without a BBQ in our yard, and I've been researching grills for months and got really lucky that the new Q line released at the perfect time for our buying cycle.
    Cheers for all your content-has really helped my decision-making with choosing Weber.

    Ive had my Q2200 since 2018 and it still functions perfectly. Its left outside continually here in UK and there's no rust as you'd expect.
    I do rub down the plastic parts now and again with a thin layer of coconut oil and the whole thing shines like new.
    Absolutely love the Q2200, its already perfect in my humble opinion, I wont be upgrading. Thanks again :)

    Spotted the new models at Mitre10 here in New Zealand a couple of weeks ago. Will probably stick with my original Family Q320 as I can easily keep an eye on the temp gauge from inside the house. We cook on the Weber year round and having the gauge on top of the lid means we'd have to go outside to view it. At the moment I can see what the temps are doing with a quick glance from my chair.

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  9 месяцев назад

    I am from Australia and purchased the new Baby Q 1000N yesterday. Must comment on the very clear instructions for the table, and packing for all was exemplary. Spur of the moment buy, otherwise would have gone for 1200N. We thought the 1000N would have temperature guage and side tables 😢. First lesson learnt 😊

    I bought a Q1200 a few years ago. Love it except there is no hot side/cool side as on a larger 2--3 burner grill. To solve, I purchased a griddle plate for half my grill and keep in under the grill grate on the right (grill grate stacked above solid griddle plate) preventing direct heat on one side. Now I can sear meat on left side and move to right side to finish without burning. Grill lid doesn't go all the way down as it used to but works great for me.

    I was initially excited about the update. And agree low and slow is welcome addition, as the Q models don't run low, even at lowest setting. But I was hoping for side by side two burner set-up. I find it nice to have a hot section and cooler section on a grill to help with moving proteins that are starting to flair up to a cold grate and for indirect heat.

    As an owner of an original baby q bought brand new in '04, I can't imagine getting another one just because it works so well. This grill has been run hard and put away wet whether in the back of a truck in a motorhome you name it. I did upgrade some stuff on it. New stainless steel burners, and I got rid of the cast iron grate was rusted and I figured I'd try the stainless steel grate instead which I believe I got off at eBay. It works great I think but that's me. Think the only problem with the original series is I can no longer buy The wing trays for it anymore. Something changed on the new ones will not fit.

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  9 месяцев назад +1

      Weber grills are bulletproof!
      The only reason to upgrade these things are if you really neglect them... or potentially with the new Q's being released, they stop making accessories or parts that fit the old models when you need them. I guess fortunately there are so many Weber Qs available second hand, as well as third-party parts you could probably go for quite some time with what you already have.

    Saw the new Q1200n and didn't like the changes. I use the side tables a lot, put the pans, bowls... Heavy stuff and they work well. The new ones are smaller and fells weak. The cooking area is bigger but I don't know if this is a plus because when my q1200 is full at max gas it lacks the performance so the new area pm the 1200n at full will work less efficient and that is because as basically the same burner.
    I do like the new way to put the tray for meat juice.
    For me does not worth the price to "upgrade".

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  7 месяцев назад

      I believe Weber compensated for the larger grilling surface by also slightly increasing the output of the burners (8500 to 10,000 BTU). But how it works in practice I do not know.

    Hi Jerry, yet another very informative video: Thanks a lot for this one. Over here the new models are not available - but I really don't care. Why: First of all to me the 2nd burner is pretty useless. Like you said we already have a hot spot in that middle zone - and 2ndly : Long jobs? Really ???? Like a 15 hours job for a brisket and burning a complete tank of gas ??? Not my cup of tea .... I'm rather thinking of purchasing a rotisserie for whole chicken and pork roasts.
    Maybe the rotisserie is worthwhile purchasing for you to improve your setup ??? In my eyes this would be a real update aka game changer ...

      I never thought about that. I wonder how long a tank of gas would last on the new model grilling low and slow. Keep in mind the regular burner on the mid size will last about 30 hours so the small burner should be ok. But again point taken… that would be a good amount of gas used.

    Have just bought the new 2000N model in New Zealand (where they are kinda expensive). Unfortunately, I didn't notice when in the store that there is no thermometer in the lid. I loved that about the big old model I used to have. How annoying and disappointing!

      I made the very same mistake when I bought my Weber Q2000! It wasn’t until later that I learned they made the more premium Q2200 with the electric starter and the lid thermometer. Just get yourself a reliable meat thermometer and you will be fine!

    Shits me that they changed the body size so the new plates don’t fit the old model. It’s now hard to find anything but the N models on shelves here.

      Yeah, that is a bummer that they changed the dimensions. Which means you pretty much have to go third party if you want the old accessories.

    Why aren’t the new models released in the US initially?

      My best guess is that they don't want to release them here during the winter months where bbq and grill sales will probably be reduced. I wonder if the USA release target will be spring 2024...

    Thanks for this video. It finally cleared up a question I've had for a while about my grill being one solid piece of iron instead of 2 like yours. The new plus burner for slow cook is a good point. I'm waiting for more test results to decide whether to upgrade. There aren't many videos about it though, I only find this 1: ruclips.net/video/mKDe5d5nLvA/видео.html.

      Yup! You must have a three digit model. Not bad though - that speaks volume about the grill's durability as yours would be at minimum 10 years old at this point!

    Do the newest N+ models accept screwing a 1lb tank directly to it?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  3 месяца назад

      Yes the new models accept the 1lb tanks just like the outgoing generation

    They don't rust out like every grill I've had. Parts are also easily available.

    My friend says he wishes he would have never sold his older Q Family Grill. He says these new ones are made in China.

      Interesting… the new Weber Q just came out in the USA. I planned on getting one but will check the country of manufacture.
