This is how I was able to get a griddle, adding the insert for a Genesis grill I already had. With a gas grill, charcoal grill and smoker, I didn't want another stand alone piece of equipment. This channel has showed me how to use it, and get good results. Thanks for all the great content!
I am definitely one of the people who was asking you about griddle inserts. I have a Weber Genesis II that is 6 years old and the insert for my model is half the size of the surface area, not the entire thing like this one. I don't mind that though, because I can also grill at the same time when I use it. That is really awesome grill they hooked you up with, congrats and looking forward to seeing more with it.
Had my Weber grill insert for my weber 4 burner grill for a month now. we'v used it probably 20 times now. I will never put my racks back on, we love it so much. I took a while to get the temp settings down. It does get hot. Living in Florida you do sweat standing over this griddle. I have never used it with the top closed. Highly recommend .
Thanks for sharing....I couldn’t believe how much I liked it...that what happens when yuo have a perceived opinion...already filmed the breakfast and holy cow did it perform
For what most experienced folks would consider a "compromise" griddle setup (myself included) that thing does a fine job. You know I hate brown bottom eggs, and that thing did a very good job. For folks with limited space and budget that looks like a winner to me.
I have the E-435 and have used to the half insert. My take great for hash browns, eggs, french toast pancakes, rice, veggies and non-greasy foods. Anything that creates grease will destroy the underside. It gets greasy and is heavy. Moving it and storing it can be a pain in the neck. Grease management - if you want to cook bacon and such get a metal bucket. Cleaning - I found it easier to remove and clean in the sink. But then again, because of the weight of the half griddle I can see how it is easy to damage or dent the sink or chip the granite around the sink. The vents in the front will keep your hand and arm hairs nice and trimmed. Eggs are great on this. I recently bought a 52" husky rolling tool chest so storage is no longer an issue. Having a 36" BS, this weber additional is a viable option but to me it has limitations
Good day to be alive. I really like the GRIDDLE feature. It would be great for those with limited space and maybe if they dont GRIDDLE a whole lot. Personally, I like having both, a griddle and a grill. It's all a personal preference. You have to work it and use it to see what you like. Thanks for the video and GRIDDLE/GRILL ON DUDES.
I just bought the same grill for Father’s Day, but I have the 3 burner unit and the half griddle insert. My grill was on sale so basically I got the griddle insert for an extra $50, but wondered at the time if I’d ever use it. I’ve yet to try the griddle (been a little hesitant) but now that you’ve tested it, I’m anxious to finally give it a try. The grill itself is awesome and is my first Weber and I love it! Thanks for doing this video and looking forward to your follow up videos.
Hey Neil and Amy.. I have been a Weber Man for many many years from the Kettle to the Genesis I and now Genesis II 410 and I do love them for the quality that the Weber product comes with and from 2022 with the Griddle insert for the 400 series was like a change for me from Breakfast to lunches and to dinners that are like WOW. Enjoy your Gennis II and low and slow is the best
Good morning guys ! BOY,,,,, it seems to me the companys that make all these griddles and grills are all trying to out due each other ! Always adding new and different features, I hope I'm around in 10 years to see what's next ! PS. Better get started on that outdoor kitchen.. THANK you for another good one . FRANK from montana......
The video was very helpful. Helped me make the decision to purchase one for my Weber Genesis. I've used it a few times and absolutely love it. Thank you.
Grilla grills has had the primate for several years that has griddle insert both full size and 3/4 so you can have both one burner grill and 3 burners on griddle. Grease trap works great.
I have a Grilla Grills Primate which is a gas grill and griddle hybrid similar to this. I love the versatility of it. I’ve had it for a couple of years. Nice to see Weber is following in their footsteps.
@@brettmorrical6978 I haven’t had any issues with mine cooking too hot. If it gets a little on the warm side, I will cycle the burners off and on some.
@@holysmokebbqandsoutherncooking My buddy raves about his. He cooks for an entire hs football team and is going to be cooking for a college fb team in the Fall.
I just pulled the trigger on one for my 3-burner Genesis. I feel like I don't use a griddle for that many dishes - burgers, quesadillas, stir-fries, maybe a couple others - so while I absolutely want the capability, a standalone griddle is very hard to justify on my 10x10 outdoor kitchen area. Also, I use the Genesis as a grill and pizza oven, so being able to have essentially three cookers in one is amazing. I've been extremely happy with it and it probably gets me 90% of the way to.a Blackstone or Weber standup griddle while still keeping the flexibility.
I had this exact problem. I own a 2-3 yr old Genius II. I love the grill! But wanted a griddle, too. The insert costs almost as much as a small Blackstone. But I didn't want 2 grills sitting on my patio (not enough room anyway). I do like the insert griddle but here's the downside....Like you pointed out....those vent holes on the insert? Yes, they are VERY hot. When you're cooking, you're reaching over them. You have to be very careful. Plus, the grease chute located back right? Very inconvenient compared to regular griddles. Also, cleaning....very hot when reaching over the vent holes. I haven't taken the insert out since I bought it. I like the griddling vs grill. IMO the only downside of a griddle is cooking a bunch of burgers for a group of people. The grill would be easier for that. Other than that, the griddle works great cooking almost everything else. Overall, I think a griddle is way more versatile than a grill. Would I do it all over again? Probably not. I think I should have sold my grill and then bought a big griddle instead. Yes, it is the best of both worlds buying the insert but I found that using the insert with those vent holes being up front and the back right grease chute is losing too much vs. having a real griddle. Plus, you lose cooking space too. Anyone getting the insert....you better be careful and I would use gloves, especially when cleaning up. Just my opinion.
Thanks for looking into this option! I just got a griddle for my Napoleon Prestige 500. It takes up half the grill (2 out of 4 grates) so you can do both at the same time. Tried smash burgers on it for the first time recently and noticed about 100degF difference from the front to the back. Going to play around with it, maybe swap it front to back to see if that makes a difference. Cheers!
Way ahead of ya. I had a 6 burner (5 + 1 side) Brinkmann similar to what you have and only used it for pork and chicken mainly. Back in 2020 I could not find a griddle anywhere. Sold out. So I built my own out of 3/16" plate that looks just like the Camp Chef. I LOVE it. With 5 burners I can hit 500 with lid open and get higher with lid closed easily. Or take it down low and controlled as I like. Thanks for your videos.
Did not know such a unit existed. Did a quick research and found one. It is now on order and heading my way. A late fathers day gift for me. Thanks Neil/Amy! 😃
I just purchased one because my son has a genesis weber grill. It was on sale at ace hardware I’ve had Weber grills for a very long time I lived in Chicago for 62 years so their number one for me the griddle worked very well. I’ve only used it once and I did smash burgers on it. Nothing seem to stick to it at all.
After cooking on Weber charcoal grills, and loving it, I just purchased my third and last Weber charcoal grill. With it, I also purchased a 19” griddle to use with my Weber. Tried it twice so far and I love it. Bought it from Amazon and it fits my 22” grill perfectly. Looking forward to this channel and finding more uses for the griddle. Thanks.
Just ordered the full size griddle insert for my good ole' Weber Spirit 3. Been waiting for it to come back in stock for a while. Just found your channel, loving it. Thank you for being so thorough! Sub'd!
awe man, have been watching your videos for the past few weeks as I waited for this unit to come in for my weber. Saw the thumbnail and was all worried you were gonna tear it apart "Jack of all trades" type review. Thanks for the honest review, we love ours and eat every other night with something on the griddle. Good to know it has your approval.
That is some nice grill/griddle. Very informative review to. Can't wait to watch you do a first cook on it. Try to stay cool and enjoy your humidity, LOL. Stay safe brother
We just filmed the big breakfast and thats the only part I screwed up...we will show that.,,but overall it out performed almost everything I have used prior to this...cant wait to show you
I have a 20 inch carbon steel skillet that fits perfectly on my 22 inch webers works great can make everything from eggs to french toast to fried chicken with it.!! Love classic Weber charcoal grills
Great job Neil and Amy, fantastic first views of the Weber Genesis Gas Grill and your impressions. I was blown away when you grilled the egg and how well the griddle was seasoned, that was impressive right there. Can't wait till you do some meals on that Grill/Griddle . Thanks for kicking in and reading the temps to us Amy, really helped us out. Stay safe and keep the vid's coming. Fred
Love your vids. I got the the insert for the Weber spirit series for Father’s Day. It brought new life to my gas grill which I never used since I got my Weber kamado years ago. I loved your dedicated Weber griddle review and almost pulled the trigger but thanks to this I didn’t have to get another piece of gear to manage. Highly recommend this insert
You answered all of my questions before I got to ask them, good job. As we all know some of us who want a grill or a griddle or something but can't afford one of each, we have to end up buying one fire source that we can modify for all our wants and needs. This may be what we are looking for. I have a gas grill and a Lodge cast iron griddle for my needs. It works ell as we cook for 2 of us. I guess we don't have all of the friends like other people do. Tank you for doing it.
Oh the next few videos on this griddle insert will be interesting! I got a stainless, on-top add-on griddle with my grill that was half the size of the grill cooking area but have never used it. I just felt too confined with it, both on the griddle and on the grill, and I hadn't caught the griddling bug yet. During my griddle hunt, I was looking for something with a full sized griddle add-on (insert or on top) to put on my griddle but didn't run across any. Now, here it is, just what I was looking for! Thanks for the review, Neal & Amy. I'm looking forward to seeing how you exploit this critter! 👩🍳
That's right!!!! I just got the Weber Genesis 4 burner and the full griddle. Worked awesome, but wish it used the full grill size and not had the full cut out at the back.
I already have the Genesis 3 burner gas grill. I have to see if the 3 burner griddle is available. Great review Neal! This may have answered my decision if available for a 3 burner grill. Cheers buddy!
I do both Neal. I have the Weber Summitt like yours and a Memphis Pro pellet smoker. Along with a few others. Gonna reverse sear some thuck ribeyes today! (Just got some Eagle Rare bourbon to try out.) Cheers!
Great review. Wish I needed another cooking device but………. Only problem I saw was what you pointed out about the vents in the front. Looking forward to the upcoming videos.
I love my weber gasser I didn’t even think about getting a griddle for it thanks for the heads up! Yes they are awesome grills took me a bit to put together your right. The grill light for theses are amazing I’d recommend two of them they mount on the handle.. nice video as always thanks
I’m thinking about getting the griddle attachment for my Weber smokefire. I believe it’s the same insert. Really appreciate your thoughts and video on this
I’ve been watching your videos for several months now, but just subscribed (sorry so late). Anyhow, I’m a relatively new griddler. I got my Camp Chef last summer, but in between moving I only started using in early this spring. I chose camp chef over the others mainly because I live in a very windy area. The resistance of the the burners to blow out was my number one selling point thanks to another RUclipsr / griddler. I love the hell out of it! But, I knew when I bought it it it could also serve as a grill. The thought is cool, but I bought the griddle to be a griddle. I will never use it as a bbq, because I don’t want to ruin its integrity as a griddle. There’s no way I’m going to sacrifice my major investment into a griddle to Bbq over those precious burners and ruin my love for it. I have a separate gas/charcoal grill that I’ve had for years and that does the bbq. Just my opinion for the BBQ / Griddle combo.
I bought a half one of these a week after I got my new Genesis year before last. Weber sells one (it's not designed very well) but there is another there on Amazon from another company that replaces the right side perfectly. So it looks just like the thumbnail. I have a Blackstone griddle as well but with this I can grill on one side and cook the veggies etc.. on the other.
Good morning, love that you did this review! These are my thoughts, I’ve looked into this for my Weber 5 burner genesis and found that it’s difficult for me to store if I’m to change to the grill if I have to do ribs or chicken parts. If you have a place to keep it during the cold wet winter months, then this is a great purchase. I don’t have a heated garage so the dampness makes everything rust. I went with the weber crafted flat top instead. (I’m still on the fence to see if I like it) I hope you can also do a review of that as well. Thank you guys for your hard work!
On the genesis, the grate that’s underneath, the one with the circle, (it’s about half the genesis grill size) weber makes a carbon steel plate to fit on top as well as some other accessories like a basket, a wok, and a sear grate. weber calls it “crafted” line. it’s a lot smaller then the one you are using in the video.
I have an older Weber I inherited from my parents. Going to have to see if any of the inserts will fit my grill, because I have been wanting one but do not have enough room.
great segment. thanks for doing it. i didn't know Weber did griddle tops. i might have to look into getting one for my genesis. i thought it might get a little hot in the front. looking forward to your doing breakfast on it.
@@conradkostelecky7935 ive got a 4 burner blackstone so i dont really need one, unless, i want to free up some real estate and make my 3 burner genesis a twofer
I can say I am blown away so far...already cooked the breakfast and man it out performed ever expectation...blew it out of the water...cant wait to show
Hi from the UK. I have been using a griddle insert on my 4 burner for about 6 mths now & felt a bit of a fraud compared to you guys on your US Blackstones. However, all your great recipes have worked brilliantly on my stainless 23 x 16inch insert. I also take off the triangular flavouriser bars over the burners to get high temperatures. Really enjoy your YT channel & my friends love your food too.
I was looking at the add on griddle for my gas Weber until I became an adoptive person for an unused griddle. A little (lot) and she cooks like a dream. One concern I had with the Weber was the grease trap. The unit you reviewed had the grease trap right at the burner.😮 FIRE🔥🔥🔥
We have already cooked on it...the manual says to cut off...we did and absolutely no problems...the big breakfast was incredible to cook...the unit really really out performed...
I have a very similar Weber Genesis (mine does have the temp probes and burner lights, etc.) I got it at the same time as my griddle and while is beautiful I've not even attached a tank of propane to it - I've used my griddle exclusively since the end of March. I am planning on getting the griddle insert if for no other reason as "overflow" for my griddle (like during big get togethers.)
We made salmon and steaks before using the griddle just to get familiar....man it can cook....I am not a gas fan...but geeze....no reason not to now....its a beast
Webber has great products so I kinda knew that it would be a nice combo grill. Only thing that I didn’t like was the outlets in the front l can imagine the heat coming out of them. I’m not a lot into propane grills because l like the favors that you can get out of a pellet or charcoal grill. Wouldn’t mind having that Webber grill because it looks awesome. Great review on it Neal 👍🏽.
Completely understand....this comes from 100 experience and honestly...combing the two is the best of both worlds regardless of what you have or how you get there...the griddle and charcoal or smoke is amazing
Awesome glad you had time for this review I emailed you about this a while ago because in Canada the flatrock is not available till sometime next year, as well my 20 year old weber gas grill is dying and not a whole lot of room on our deck for a stand alone griddle, bbq, and smoker.
Man I’m so happy you got this grill. I just got one for Fathers Day and I got the griddle insert (1/2) size. I’ve been watching your channel trying to decide how to use it. I can hardly wait to see the next videos!
Suggestion: Get a 1 1/2"x1/8 or 1/4" steel bar from your local HW Store (HD or Lowes), cut it to length of the front of the griddle where the holes are and when your grill is lit with the griddle on, just lay the bar along that front area to cover the holes... That's what I would do if I owned that Grill.
Thanks for the great video, This is how I griddle. I have a Genesis Grill and use the same insert, unfortunately I don’t have the space for a stand alone griddle. I still like to grill my steaks vs griddle them. I love having the option to do both with one plateform.
Thanks for doing this! I’ve been on the fence of getting an insert or a standalone griddle. I have the room for another unit but don’t want to end up with something else I rarely use. Glad is works good, not too hot.
I have this exact grill & griddle insert & love it! Agree 100% with everything in this review & wish it had more cooking space. The grease drain & air vents seem to waste so much room.
that low temp control is great. better than my blackstone. my winter grill is a smaller weber q i think. use it inside the barn on snow days. i bought the griddle insert for it. works kinda ok but not even close as the one you just tested. now you got me thinking. now a side note to other diy wannabees. i made mi first griddle with quarter inch plate. used a double gas burner for heat. anybody want to buy a 18x36 wok/roller coaster?
Great video. I love your honesty and the fact you will admit your initial thoughts were wrong. I’m now a subscriber. Can’t wait to see more videos with this setup. I’m waiting on mine to come in now, the griddle insert is back ordered.
Thanks for subbing I appreciate that....I just wonder if this video had anything to do with it....they had mentioned that it was so so on sales which is why I was hesitant to do it because of the lack of information and interest..but now....its all over....Hope you enjoy
Yes yes yes yes yes you listen to me honestly best product ever I use it all the time when I say this I can cook breakfast I can cook steaks t-bones I can coot everything on the grill corned beef hash and then pull it out and put my grill grates back on and cook burgers and everything else freaking phenomenal it's a two for one deal best invention ever
You had commented above about making it where you can share pics...you cant do that on RUclips....I would love to see what you have done...thats why we created a FB group...its called The GRIDDLE GROUP on Facebook....you can join and definitely share
Great review! You should take more opportunities of vendors wanting to send you stuff. You're honest and we can trust what you say, plus you don't work for them (like the Pit Boss twins). It looks sweet but I would never have use for a gas grill so $1000 for this is nuts.
thanks for doing this video... I've had a weber genesis grill for a decade. It's in great condition, but I've been jealously looking at griddles since blackstones made them popular. I may just try out a steelmade on that grill after watching this video.
If a Weber-made griddle insert version doesn’t work, learn more about the Little Griddle. I have one for an older Genesis and it does alright. Makes fantastic smashburgers.
After having it for a while...I agree...I love mine..people who look down on gas grills...this one is different....just taste better...reminds of commercial gas..
Nice video, I have the 435 and I love mine I just wish the Stainless Steel version came with the cast iron grates instead of of the stainless ones. I will be adding the griddle to mine this month. I use the BlackStone 22inch griddle when I want use a griddle.
Neal, I wonder if a shallow 1/4 size hotel pan would replace the stock grease catch? The overall dimensions are 6x10" but that includes the top lip. That would give you a deeper catch assuming it is not too deep to fit. Those temps look very even, and I look forward to more cooks on this griddle top. I wish they made one like that to fit my Summit S670 (the big boy). That would free up a lot of real estate on my porch and I would let the SIL have the Blackstone 28" (original style). Plus I'm going to convert my Weber to natural gas soon so no more propane outages.
Man thats a nice one for sure....I will check it out...we filmed the big breakfast....it out performed our expectations.....its amazing how well it reacted...
I have this grill but three burner version. Also have the Weber Crafted Griddle Insert. Which only takes up half the grill. Works amazing but I do wish I had a little more space
I just got one of these for my natural gas weber. I love it since I didn't have space for a separate griddle. At this point I'm leaving the griddle on as a default.
Something to try if you're looking to get more heat out of this Weber for the griddle is to remove the "flavorizers" (the metal "tents" that cover the burners - so that the burners actually heat the grill grates and griddle itself. I don't know for sure but I would venture to guess you'll get another 20-30 degrees.
I tried one and sent it back. Cooked great. Problem was not enough room for the price and grease management directs it through the firebox and I had a couple fires. Would be much better with a snorkel down past the burners.
Thank you for listening honestly it's the best thing ever you don't have to have a flat top extra on the side you can use your Weber Genesis Grill three or four burner especially with the sear station and use that as a griddle which I cook breakfast on all the freaking time and pull that out put your grill grates back on it and cook it like a normal grill bonus bonus bonus and you don't have to worry about flare-ups you don't have to worry about wind blowing out your burners nothing because Weber has it to a t they should have emphasized that instead of making an extra grill on the side because you have a multi-purpose grill now you can grill you can use those as a rotisserie and you can use it as a griddle freaking phenomenal
I have received many many comments and thats how we got here. Just so you know. I have already filmed the breakout and it absolutely blew my mind how well it performed. Amazing unit
@@TheFlatTopKing can't wait to see the breakfast cooking. I went to ace hardware and got the griddle for Weber Spirit this afternoon. Seasoned once and cooling it down now. So far impressed with the temperature control. Also how smooth it is compared to other cast iron pan.
I know that sausage and bacon have grease but I had no idea there was hash brown grease(5:00). What have I been buying? ;) I actually got one of the smaller Weber griddles for my 3-burner years ago and liked it before I ended up with my Blackstone. Works to help make one device function like two.
I guess if you have a nice deck and live down South (or during warm weather) you may want to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner outside. Nothing wrong with that because you have easy clean up, no heating the house up and you can cook large amounts of food. I loved my gas grill for years until I got a new one that wasn't so nice but I find it difficult to cook in the yard when it's cold now. (maybe I'm getting too old)
@@TheFlatTopKing it definitely is fun to cook on I cooked on it over a weber 22 inch with charcoal, but the black song kicks its butt any day but it was a fun thing to have before I bought my Blackstone 36 inch love your channel keep it up buddy
Question: when using my (single burner) blackstone, there’s a ton of liquid and gunk when cleaning. Usually when using the Weber with traditional grates, I don’t nearly have the amount of liquid or gunk.. just liquids that come off the meat. My question is, the large slide out gas grill funnel looking grease slide that brings the grease to the drip pan… is that made to have this much liquid/gunk? When I clean the blackstone i use water and want to make sure it won’t be an issue. Thanks in advance
Im looking for a monday to friday gas grill/griddle. I have a charcoal grill for weekends and summer. Dont know whether to get a grill with a griddle attachment or just get a stand alone griddle. Will be cooking smash burgers, sausages, bacon, eggs, some steaks.
Well i love this combo for sure...stand alone griddles always out prefrom combos...but the overall convince with this is unmatched...add a smoke tube and now you have all three
Great video! About the grease trap; on the previous Genesis 4-burner grill (Genesis II), the grease trap is the same size as the one on the Weber stand alone griddle (as well as the Weber Summit and Smokefire). I have no idea why Weber went with the smaller grease trap on the new Genesis 4-burner models.
Thanks for the video. I’ve got the Genesis 3 and this has convinced me to get the insert. Im in Canada though and it’s $369 plus tax 😢. Oh well, I’ll get lots of use out of it.
Now that you have had more experience either the griddle insert, what is your opinion vs. using the money toward the purchase of a freestanding griddle? Also, do you find the heat from the front vents to be troublesome? Thanks for what you do!
Just throwing this out there, knowing you have a million other ideas, questions and requests. Pit boss includes a griddle insert with the big 1600 grill. They also have cast iron two sided griddles you can buy off them for griddle cooking in the pellet grill. Does that peak your interest any? Not sure if it’d work that well in my thoughts.
Just purchased a Weber Genesis yesterday and already thinking about a griddle top for it. There are definitely a lot of pros and cons but one of the things I was curious about is removing the griddle. I am like you and would prefer to cook my steak on the actual grill.but if you are having a barbecue and having to do both, would it be easy going back-and-forth or would it be a pain?
Great review as always. I love my charcoal grills but i don't bad talk propane grills at all. Used and maintained correctly they do a fantastic job. The propane is easy and quick to use with much less clean up work afterwards. REALLY nice on those mid week cooks after a hard days work when you just want to grill and eat. Having the insert makes tons of sense. If camp chef ever asks you to try out their big two or three burner stoves and insert griddles i would love to see a review. There are single, double 😂triple burner sized griddles that fit them. That gives you the ability to say for example use a two burner griddle on a three burner stove and have the third burner for the coffe pot, etc. Great at home AND great in camp. Great video looking forward 😂to seeing the breakfast cook. Have a great day. 🌞
I mean...sure..use your 10 inch skillet...ahahah good luck cooking that much food vs a whole griddle...my channel started out cooking with cast iron and still do....no comparison in size....
I’m thinking that by leaving the Flavorizer bars in place under the griddle top tempers the heat so that you’re able to achieve lower temps… Direct flame would cancel this but it would also make recovery time faster - Trade off? Cheers!
I recently purchased the Weber Searwood XL 600. I also have the 3-burner 28" Weber griddle you show. I want to possible replace the stand-alone griddle with the Searwood and a griddle insert but like you I was surprised how little grill area the inserts have. Then I started thinking why not use two Weber Crafted griddles on my XL 600? The area of the two is a little more than the 28" Weber griddle. See any negatives?
Can the griddle top be put in backwards so that those hair melting openings can sit at the back? One small tip about IR guns - one can not get a correct reading on a stainless steel surface unless one adjusts the emissitivity of the gun, which is possible on most better models but a pain. All but the really inexpensive Thermoworks IR guns can be adjusted, but even better they can take a K-style probe to directly read the heat and one does not need to worry about IR radiation emissivity. They have probes up to over 1800 degrees as well. :)
My wife got me this for Fathers Day. I love it. For those with Weber grills I would suggest this insert instead of a stand alone griddle.
This is how I was able to get a griddle, adding the insert for a Genesis grill I already had. With a gas grill, charcoal grill and smoker, I didn't want another stand alone piece of equipment. This channel has showed me how to use it, and get good results. Thanks for all the great content!
Thank you..looking forward to showing the breakfast we have already filmed...its incredible
I am definitely one of the people who was asking you about griddle inserts. I have a Weber Genesis II that is 6 years old and the insert for my model is half the size of the surface area, not the entire thing like this one.
Appreciate the insight...funny because i mentioned the heat from the front on our breakfast video....i just cant believe how well it performed

@@TheFlatTopKing cant wait to see that
I just bought the same grill for Father’s Day, but I have the 3 burner unit and the half griddle insert.
Hey thats awesome....I can say....we already filmed the breakfast and its incredible...completely blew our minds how well it performed...
Yeah...been very very impressed as well....
Thanks Frank....im sure you will be around bud
The video was very helpful. Helped me make the decision to purchase one for my Weber Genesis. I've used it a few times and absolutely love it.
Thank you.
Yeah...me as well...both the griddle and the actual grill...great combo for sure
Grilla grills has had the primate for several years that has griddle insert both full size and 3/4 so you can have both one burner grill and 3 burners on griddle. Grease trap works great.
Awesome....
@@TheFlatTopKing checked yesterday and on low steady in the 290-310 range
I have a Grilla Grills Primate which is a gas grill and griddle hybrid similar to this. I love the versatility of it. I’ve had it for a couple of years. Nice to see Weber is following in their footsteps.
My buddy has a Primate and loves it. He says it cooks pretty hot, though. True? Can you keep temps low? Love the idea of the Primate.
Looking forward to many many cooks as well...
Good morning! I have 2 Blackstone griddles, which I love, but I would enjoy having more control of the temperatures!
Absolutely...I think that why I was shocked...just didnt expect it...already filmed the breakfast and it absolutely blew me away how well it performed
Hey I appreciate that....
Hey thats awesome.....
Did not know such a unit existed. Did a quick research and found one. It is now on order and heading my way. A late fathers day gift for me. Thanks Neil/Amy! 😃
Hey thats awesome....
So far we filmed the big breakfast....holy cow did it perform.....
Thanks.
Good stuff! Thanks
This is a great video for folks with limited space/budget that might already have a gas grill. I think it's great you took them up their offer.
Thank you
Just ordered the full size griddle insert for my good ole' Weber Spirit 3. Been waiting for it to come back in stock for a while. Just found your channel, loving it. Thank you for being so thorough! Sub'd!
Hey thats awesome,...appreciate the support
awe man, have been watching your videos for the past few weeks as I waited for this unit to come in for my weber. Saw the thumbnail and was all worried you were gonna tear it apart "Jack of all trades" type review. Thanks for the honest review, we love ours and eat every other night with something on the griddle. Good to know it has your approval.
Hey we are posting the breakfast today...absolutely blew our minds how well it performed...incredible for sure...
That is some nice grill/griddle. Very informative review to. Can't wait to watch you do a first cook on it. Try to stay cool and enjoy your humidity, LOL. Stay safe brother
Thanks! Will do Robert...you as well
It will be interesting to see how the grease trap performs for you😊
We just filmed the big breakfast and thats the only part I screwed up...we will show that.,,but overall it out performed almost everything I have used prior to this...cant wait to show you
Grease trap worked out perfect
I have a 20 inch carbon steel skillet that fits perfectly on my 22 inch webers works great can make everything from eggs to french toast to fried chicken with it.!! Love classic Weber charcoal grills
Good call...
Fred
Glad you enjoyed it Fred.....
Right on!
I have a Weber Summit. What griddle insert did you get?

@@DGustafson-m5z Thanks for the clarification.
I appreciate that. So we have already filmed the breakfast it this unit just absolutely blew my mind how well it performs
To break the news early....I am completely surprised how well it performed on our fist breakfast we filmed...blew my mind how well it did...
That's right!!!! I just got the Weber Genesis 4 burner and the full griddle. Worked awesome, but wish it used the full grill size and not had the full cut out at the back.
Yeah...I agree...not sure why they did that...
I already have the Genesis 3 burner gas grill. I have to see if the 3 burner griddle is available. Great review Neal! This may have answered my decision if available for a 3 burner grill. Cheers buddy!
Yes sir.....should be for sure...thanks Jay...hey...can you remind me...Do you do a lot of smoking or bbqing...
I do both Neal. I have the Weber Summitt like yours and a Memphis Pro pellet smoker. Along with a few others. Gonna reverse sear some thuck ribeyes today! (Just got some Eagle Rare bourbon to try out.) Cheers!

I’m thinking about getting the griddle attachment for my Weber smokefire. I believe it’s the same insert. Really appreciate your thoughts and video on this
I didnt know they made that....that would be cool for sure...smoke flavor and griddle as well....let me know
I really really appreciate you guys. New subscriber and still can't get enough of the back-library.
Well we appreciate that..thanks bud
Just my opinion for the BBQ / Griddle combo.
thanks for the support
Thank you guys for your hard work!
not really sure what a Weber Crafted Flat Top is.....
I have one for my Genesis 3. Love it!
Awesome....
Appreciate the video! Keep them coming. It's good to get outside your comfort zone! ;)

I did not know that either. I'm going shopping for the griddle insert for my 4 burner Genesis today.

Thanks for the info! I will check that out...
If their griddle was built and looked like that I would by their griddle in a heartbeat!
NO doubt...
Maybe with a pellet smoking tube. Because I do like that Webber Grill 👍🏽
Awesome glad you had time for this review I emailed you about this a while ago because in Canada the flatrock is not available till sometime next year, as well my 20 year old weber gas grill is dying and not a whole lot of room on our deck for a stand alone griddle, bbq, and smoker.
Absolutely...looking for great cooks coming up....
I can hear it now" Amy we need a larger space outside " Thanks for the informative video I was curious about those insert griddles .
yes sir...cant wait to show you...its incredible....blew it out of the water already filmed the breakfast
Man I’m so happy you got this grill. I just got one for Fathers Day and I got the griddle insert (1/2) size. I’ve been watching your channel trying to decide how to use it. I can hardly wait to see the next videos!
Heck yeah.....thanks...looking forward to it as well..
Hey absolutely spot on...great idea....thanks
Thanks for the great video, This is how I griddle. I have a Genesis Grill and use the same insert, unfortunately I don’t have the space for a stand alone griddle. I still like to grill my steaks vs griddle them. I love having the option to do both with one plateform.
Absolutely
Man!!! Webber sure does have even heat distribution down to a science!!! This is pretty cool!!!
Yea....crazy....loved the low....we filmed the big breakfast..holy cow did it out perform our expectations
Thanks for doing this! I’ve been on the fence of getting an insert or a standalone griddle. I have the room for another unit but don’t want to end up with something else I rarely use. Glad is works good, not too hot.
Glad it was helpful!
Would sure like to see one of your fried rice episodes done on this Weber griddle insert
Great overview. It is nice to have the either or option.
It really is!

Heck yeah....smash burgers here we come...
If a Weber-made griddle insert version doesn’t work, learn more about the Little Griddle. I have one for an older Genesis and it does alright. Makes fantastic smashburgers.
Looks like a nice rig. I do like the lower temps on low compared to my BlackStone and the only thing I would add is a larger grease trap.
Someone asked if a standard restaurant pan will work...im going to check that out
I love my Webber genesis. Worth every penny
Right on
Neal, I wonder if a shallow 1/4 size hotel pan would replace the stock grease catch?
I can see why....just filmed the breakfast and man did it perform...
TY.....
I tried one and sent it back. Cooked great. Problem was not enough room for the price and grease management directs it through the firebox and I had a couple fires. Would be much better with a snorkel down past the burners.
Had mine for about a month now...love it...and mine is hooked up to natural gas...no more propane tanks
hey thats awesome
So Bright! Thanks guys!.
Great. Just about to post a comment to request this kind of insert. You read my minds.
On the box it says carbon steel. No way it is carbon steel. Got to be cast iron. It is heavy and retains heat like crazy.
这太棒了--只需换掉附件,您就可以同时拥有烤架和煎锅!顺便说一句,你在烧烤时遇到过这个问题吗?食物往往会很快燃烧,像木炭一样变黑。你有什么建议可以防止这种情况吗?
I know that sausage and bacon have grease but I had no idea there was hash brown grease(5:00). What have I been buying? ;) I actually got one of the smaller Weber griddles for my 3-burner years ago and liked it before I ended up with my Blackstone. Works to help make one device function like two.
hahaha when editing...just no way I could cut that out..
(maybe I'm getting too old)
I got a sizzle Q insert. But I just bought a Blackstone 36 inch
How do you like the insert
Well i love this combo for sure...stand alone griddles always out prefrom combos...but the overall convince with this is unmatched...add a smoke tube and now you have all three
I won’t buy a gas grill I’m charcoal or wood all the way but you do you keep up the great info!!!!
Hey...I was right with ya....for over 20 years....had not had one....man how things have changed..ahhahahha for the better for sure
Thanks for this…seriously thinking of getting this.
Its honestly incredible....already filmed the breakfast and it blew our minds away
I was just wondering if you can turn the griddle around so the holes are on the top so it is not so hot for your hands and tools.
I’m wondering the same thing
You can not...it needs to align with the grease trap
Great video! About the grease trap; on the previous Genesis 4-burner grill (Genesis II), the grease trap is the same size as the one on the Weber stand alone griddle (as well as the Weber Summit and Smokefire). I have no idea why Weber went with the smaller grease trap on the new Genesis 4-burner models.
Thanks for the video. I’ve got the Genesis 3 and this has convinced me to get the insert. Im in Canada though and it’s $369 plus tax 😢. Oh well, I’ll get lots of use out of it.
Man...not putting down CAN at all....but it does seem like the prices are sky high there and not many choices....just from comments I have received...
Now that you have had more experience either the griddle insert, what is your opinion vs. using the money toward the purchase of a freestanding griddle? Also, do you find the heat from the front vents to be troublesome? Thanks for what you do!
I love my Weber with the grill insert.....
Well....yes but in another way...So I have something similar in the works...very similar
Thank you....
You youngsters are funny always gotta have something special. My cast irons even better because it works on a propane burner using a lot less propane.
Cheers!
That i have not experienced yet....however the manual does say to leave the bars in...
Can you turn the griddle 180 degrees to get those hot vents in the back and the grease trap in the front?
You can not...the grease trap is set up for it so set a certain way
What are your thoughts on using coconut oil for seasoning?
I do not....i have stayed away from it...
It can not....the hole for the grease trap needs to be above the grease trap below...
