Great insights! Taking your advice and using a Heinz squeeze bottle for my cleaning water only. Gets a good amount onto the griddle quick, while using the regular squeeze bottle for oil to be able to drizzle with more control. Thanks man!

I like it when you were talking about the do and you mentioned recycling. I was about to go buy a dome for my griddle when I realized what I was about to buy, was identical to the wok lid that I had in the kitchen that I rarely use. It lives on my grill. Didn’t cost me more. we also had a leftover stainless steel bowl/pan that is like the one we used to feed our dogs with. I drilled the hole in the bottom and put a small wood knob on top and I’ve got a small. Again additional expense. I’ll save those pennies and use them on a good instant thermometer every day.

Thank you for this informative and helpful video. I am just starting out with my own griddle and it's nice to know what tools are the essentials! However, while I totally agree that temperature is important, I find it impossible to use an infrared thermometer on the griddle. The reason for this is, that I have a stainless steel surface which, obviously, gets darker or even almost black, when using it and cooking on it. Because the reflection of the material changes when it's either clean stainless steel or almost black used stainless steel, the temperature readings can vary greatly between the different spots on the griddle. You can configure the reflection coefficient in the thermometer but because the colouring varies so much on the griddle I find it impossible to find one settings which works well (enough). How do you solve that? Or isn't is a problem because your griddle is already black?

    • @TheFlatTopKing

You nailed it...those thermometers do not work on stainless...i have a few videos on the Le Griddle and its stainless...went over that exact point...along with seasoning guide...

Aluminum serving trays make great steam covers, just use tongs or spatula to lift them up. I have a dewalt tool box to keep the griddle tools and accessories under the griddle shelf and out of the heat. The blue rhino griddle has wide side shelves that double as a cover, and allow hanging a grocery bag as a trash bin. You could punch a larger hole in the ketchup bottle lid. The spray can of Chosen avocado oil works well for a light mist.

Two things I think are a must that are not on here:
    1) The aluminum tubs that go into the grease trap. Saves you a lot of cleanup! They are so cheap.
    2) A fold out elevated tray that you can put somewhere on your griddle when cooking things such a pancakes. You can put the finished ones on the elevated trays and it keeps them warm while you finish all the other food
Bonus 3) A TV so I can watch the Chargers games while cooking for everyone at football parties!

Whether you have a flat top or charcoal or gas, the #1 game changer in improving your cooking is the instant read thermometer. Knowing when to pull your food off the heat is so important. Your final product will be more spot on more often. My steaks come out perfect every time. Going by touch is way to iffy, and it depends on your cut of meat. Sirloins feel different than ribeyes at 120°F.

Such great videos! Quick question on cooking essentials: How do you clean your wood cutting boards? A local chef once told me to never use soap and water as the soap can leave off flavors. I didn't think to ask him "So what do you use instead?". So? Asking a different chef now : ) Thanks again! Love the videos and your presses are fantastic. Cheers from CO

Personally I think thats crap...ahhaha now way you can sanitize chicken pork beef etc....I have used soap my whole life....never once have I noticed something off...My biggest advice is...make sure your cutting board is oiled/seasoned correctly...this will prevent the deep penetration of flavors...as well as bacteria
