  • LEARN HOW TO DEEP CLEAN AND PROTECT THE WEBER GENESIS II GAS GRILL OR ANY GAS GRILL. This is my annual gas grill cleaning video showing my latest techniques to safely clean your gas grill for the grilling season. I will fully disassemble the Weber Genesis ii gas grill and deep clean the entire grill.
Cleaning products and process: Thanks for supporting the channel.

I use a 1:1 ratio of All purpose cleaner to water mixed in the foam cannon for the exterior of the grill. You can also use a spray bottle, garden type sprayer or a bucket. I use a BBQ and grill cleaner on the interior. I apply a stainless steel coating on the stainless. I also apply a layer of Ceramic Spray Protection to the painted parts of the grill to prevent damage from rust. It is extremely hydrophobic and resistant to UV. This sprayed on protection will help ensure long lasting rust free performance. It is slick to the touch and dirt slides right off of it. Do not apply any spray protection products inside the cooking area.
I have been able to keep my Weber Genesis ii gas grill clean and ready to use with these easy steps. My gas grill sits outside so it is exposed to the elements as well as pests. After a few months of sitting and many months of grilling this Weber grill needs a proper deep cleaning. If you keep your gas grill indoors and manage to keep it fairly clean than this might be overkill for you. If you are like most people and keep your gas grill outdoors than you will definitely benefit from a good thorough yearly cleaning. The Weber Genesis grill is my favorite grill that I have owned over the years. I have been grilling my whole life and plan to grill for many more years. FAQ ANSWERS:
** Thoroughly rinse and do a 15-20 minute empty burn after cleaning your grill. This will minimize any chance of moisture and or cleaning products being left in the grill. This cleaner is designed for BBQ's and is biodegradable. Use caution when using other off label cleaners.
** Rust caused from wetting the gas grill during cleaning is not a problem considering the grill is designed to be outside exposed to the elements all year long. It is more important to have a clean healthy grilling experience.
** Cleaning your gas grill does remove some of the "seasoning" but it is far more important to be cleaned if your grill has been contaminated by pests or food droppings that have been left in there for long periods of time. Having a sanitary cooking area wins in my opinion. Other threats are having a grease fire or just smoking out the area like crazy. I deep clean my gas grill 1 time a year to prevent all these concerns. Adjust cleaning intervals for you situation.
** After cleaning my gas grill there is virtually no mess on the ground to clean up. It also does not affect the grass or anything else in my yard. In Hawaii I am far more concerned about products getting into streams or into the ocean. The products I use are biodegradable.
** If the burners end up getting wet its not the end of the world. Mine have drippings and grease all over them from normal use. They also have been cleaned several times over that last few years and are still in perfect condition. I suspect they will last for many more years with proper care. They are also replaceable for a reasonable price should they fail at some point.
**If you have a different way of cleaning your grill that's great. This is the way I do it and it has served me well. Please share your method in a respectful manner as the viewers want to learn from others experience and not be put down for their efforts.

As a former power washing business owner for decades, I loved all your cleaning methods. One note of caution. Open the top before igniting the burners especially after using cleaning solutions inside. You never know if there may be a pocket of propane or cleaning solvent gasses in there. Don't want the lid blowing up into your face. Excellent results for your yearly cleaning!

Great job! I looked after my first Weber Genesis gas grill and it lasted 15 years. I replaced it with a smaller, cheaper, Spirit model and it’s going strong at 5 years. Cleaning your grill not only extends its life, it keeps you safe from the inevitable fire ball that will erupt if you don’t! 🔥

I used to have a grill cleaning business so this was satisfying to watch! One tip for harder to clean grates: use a wire wheel (from Harbor Freight) and attach it to a drill and have at it, it won’t damage it at all. These Webers are a little harder to clean because of the material used for the hood and box, but cleaning it regularly and early will make it last a long time.

On Maui I worked at Honokeana Cove condos in Napili part time, and every morning I'd wash the grills that overlooked Honokeana bay (one of the best views in the world). I'd heat them up to about 600 degrees and then just wash them down with water. The tourist loved the stream explosion!! LOL it kept them clean because it got done every day. You did a great job I might do my BBQ Island I built a few years ago this weekend. Great video and Aloha!!

I agree with your cleaning. I do this after the season every year. OIL/Grease gets rancid after a while. That is why you can't keep oil very long. This year I painted the outside with high performance engine paint. It needed it, it was getting rusted and I bought new grates. Mine is a CharGrill, it is many years old. Needed a reboot, and I put a tarp on it for winter, it sits outside.

Thanks for the presentation, Im about to clean my Weber Genesis II grill the same way you cleaned yours. We had a bunch of steaks and what nots on the grill yesterday, and I encountered a flare up, and after securing all the valves on the grill and tank, the flames were still about 1.5' high. I didn't have a fire extinguisher at the ready, though I did have a box of Armor Hammer baking Soda, and that baking soda knocked that fire down quick. I remembered while serving in the US Navy over 30 years ago that Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) is the chemical thats inside dry chemical fire extinguishers., and knowing that saved the grill, and perhaps our backyard.

This made me realize I’m pretty obsessive when it comes to cleaning my grill. I definitely clean the grates, and flavorizer bars before every time I use it. We also do a full exterior cleaner a few times a year.

Love your pressure wash setup so I got the K1900, Mosmatic gun, and uber flex hose. Cleaned my weber this evening and boy did that washer knock the old grease off , and all over me.lol Mine is well kept on outside but it has never had a deep cleaning on the inside. I was a mess when I finished but happy with the way my grill turned out. Great video and organization !

Looks great; after all, it's a Weber. Living in Michigan, I don't grill year round. Whenever it's not being used, it gets covered. This will be year 4 for my Weber, so it will get this level of cleaning. Thanks for the video.

I really like a clean grill. Looks great after you cleaned it all up. I would use a Weber cover on it when not grilling so it stays clean and out of the direct weather. Great job.

Yes I do too. I do use a cover. Still gets dirty out here in the country. Thanks for watching the channel.

My Weber Genesis grill is 18 years old. It looks brand new. If you cover it and take care of it, wiping it down after each use, and cover it with a quality cover, it will never get this bad.

This is just what i needed. I got a brinkman grill king free from my neighbor. Needs a new igniter. I have a Traeger but have never owned a gas grill before so excited to get her clean and purring like a kitten. And i DO have a pressure washer.

Very nice job,I have a genesis2 in the copper finish with a closed bottom, also those knobs come apart in two pieces if you flip over u can use a small flat head to push the red tab and remove the "chrome" trim and red tab on knobs. Also keep an eye out at local stores for clearance you can pick up one of these bad boys under 500$ if you do your hunting.Las vegas here
