We have a hideous in ground one that is like 15 years old, we haven’t used it but it’s an eyesore. I’m so going to restore it now !! Thanks for this video!!
No need to remove that much. Just vacuum, power wash and coat with Canola oil will maintain better heat insulation and maintaining of proper temperature. This is a weekend project not months. The spray paint is not necessary
I’m confused it looks like you used Rust-Oleum on the inside of it as well, I didn’t see you do that in the video and there website says not too but it looks so much cleaner trying to restore my crummy char grilled and was wondering what you did for that step?
Nice - But I have to mention that you should NEVER paint the inside of the grill (POISON), It looks like an old Char Griller or such with a Weber thermometer, there were holes in the bottom that I could see light through, need a real grate in the firebox under the expanded metal. Grill probably was not worth the effort but you can line the bottom of the cook chamber with foil and that will help some. Keep you grill clean and well oiled and it will last.
This is not a food grade paint and is highly toxic. Do not ever paint the inside of a smoker or grill or BBQ. Grind, clean and season with canola or avocado oil.
The thermometer is the only thing that is a Weber part. Someone added it. The factory thermometer must have broke over the years and this was the replacement or it never had a factory one. If it was a factory hole it would be centered.
@CookingwithChris which paint? I've been hearing others saying not to paint inside even with high heat paint. Others I've heard to just oil inside too season it

Ya I hope your not cooking with this thing, it says right on the website for that paint you used "for exterior of BBQs and grills" this is not a food grade paint. Yikes!
I would not recommend painting the interior like that, the paint will degrade via the heat. You’re risking contamination from various poisonous materials.
What I like about this is he shows his mistakes and it helps me not make those mistakes! Looks really good man! Thank you!

Go for it! No prob.
Awesome. I needed to kno how to do this. I was looking for someone to revamp my grill.. and this video came up.. Thank you so much
Glad it could help!
I love the chipper "but anyways" after you mention something dangerous lol
Loos like a fun project. I’m starting one too. I like to use card board and plastic with drop cloths to protect the flooring when painting.
Defenetly need to get a grill cover now
Came out looking fantastic good job
Thank you!
Thats a New Braunfels smoker. Work pretty good with a few easy mods. I've been using mine since 1995.
Awesome job! Inspires me to get at some projects I've been procrastinating on.
Great job 👏!!!
Great job bro. Thanks for the incredible information, tips, tricks and product recommendations. It is well appreciated.
I appreciate your comment!
Anything else you’d like to see?
WOOOW! this was actually so satisfying
An angle grinder with a steel brush works wonders on rust and scale. I used it daily to clean rust off rims for tire repairs.
It’s amazing haha
I've got the exact same grill I need to give some TLC to before football season. Great video!
Awesome job
Wow! Impressive. Almost makes me go out & buy a used grill. Great job!!!🎉
Mine is about 20 years old lol just been sitting in our backyard. let’s see how it goes
He should be using Rust-Oleum high heat paint
Nice job!
Nice job!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Did you spray that rustoleum inside the grill???
probably cause he doesn't want to answer these questions lol
I’m pretty sure it’s a CharBroil with a Weber thermometer. Nice job.
Nice job brother !
Thank you!
Great job
Thank you!
Amazing!!
Well done but you should have also seasoned the grill to prevent future rust
Awesome 👏🏾
How can I put a green bay packers logo on the grill?
Good job
Nice job on this. I'm starting to pickup free BBQ's on FB and flipping them after revamp.
Im gonna check FB out now lol
Just checked its a flooded market where i live
I'm confused.. did you paint the inside as well?
sure looks like it
Do you spray paint the interior as well?
Why is there a screen grate?
have that same jacket
Can you use a high temp spray paint on the inside of the grill? Thanks
You should not.
The product he used says not to
No need to remove that much. Just vacuum, power wash and coat with Canola oil will maintain better heat insulation and maintaining of proper temperature. This is a weekend project not months. The spray paint is not necessary
This is a 2 day project max. Idk why it took months. 4 processes to remove ash and rust makes no sense.
It looks like new
It’s crazy how fast the metal soles up the paint!
Why did you spray the inside of the barrel?
Great job Whatever Name on Grill🤔
Use painters tape over your cut lines on the wood to prevent the splintered wood

That thin expanded metal is going to warp when hot
Yeah. Mesh would have been my last choice. Stainless steel with holes drilled might be a good option. Or a new charcoal grate
The things I learn haha. But surprisingly it didn’t warp much at all. Fires in the basket didn’t too much to it!
Does anyone know the specific model for this grill??? I’m trying to find this Weber online. Hope someone can help out.
They probably don’t make it anymore
pretty sure it's a Char-Broil by the missing badge outline on the right hand side. It has a Weber temp guage but definitely not a Weber
Yep like Kevin said, it's a Char-Broil grill, with a Weber thermometer
Niiiicccceee🎉!!!
How did you clean the grill?
I came here to learn how to restore my grill but what I found was a guy with a fetish for slow-mo vacuuming -- and I can honestly see it
hahaha
Did you also spray inside the grill??
Yes!
now you're eating paint
I’m confused it looks like you used Rust-Oleum on the inside of it as well, I didn’t see you do that in the video and there website says not too but it looks so much cleaner trying to restore my crummy char grilled and was wondering what you did for that step?
I did, I should not have but I did. 🥲
@@CookingwithChris1 Me too. Should I buy a new one? 😂 I ended up tossing my meat in the oven last night after I did some reading about it.
The inside components should've been seasoned (alike cast iron pots) and light a good fire for an hour or two.
No primer needed ? Was that a special heat resistant rustoleum ?
Yeah it was the rust oleum
Nice - But I have to mention that you should NEVER paint the inside of the grill (POISON), It looks like an old Char Griller or such with a Weber thermometer, there were holes in the bottom that I could see light through, need a real grate in the firebox under the expanded metal. Look at this... look at that... will you just look at it 😂😂😂😂
👏👏👏SWEET. 👍
It's a Char Broil Chinese smoker that is same design as New Braunfels. Char Broil bough New Braunfels several years ago 😂
Why put weak expanded metal in the fire box .
Mine is rusted and paint is chipping off
Did you use hi temp paint on the inside? Did you do any kind of burn off before you cooked in it?
My thoughts exactly
Yes of course
This is not a food grade paint and is highly toxic. Do not ever paint the inside of a smoker or grill or BBQ. Grind, clean and season with canola or avocado oil.
@@peterm3159 eventually, the toxic compounds will burn off. I doubt it would take more than 20-30 minutes
Why paint the inside
And can you cook in that bbq without having chemicals leeching into your food
If there's no cigarettes in the restore, how you gunna smoke?? 😂
Should be interestinf!

I have those gloves too lol
Whaaa Wong witit
Dang 😮
Elbow grease and/or power tools are your friends for this type of project. Degrease before you paint.
Sexy looking grill , Wonder how it would look with clear coat added .
Even better ha
Not a Weber grill.
The thermometer is the only thing that is a Weber part. Someone added it. The factory thermometer must have broke over the years and this was the replacement or it never had a factory one. If it was a factory hole it would be centered.
It’s identical to my New Braunfels Hondo
who gives a shit
@@TheWildYak42A lot of people, if they are looking for Weber content and come upon this mislabeled video.

Please don’t tell me you painted the inside of the grill?
Would ya look at it.
Did you also paint the inside? How did you remove all that rust from the inside?
I used a grinder on the inside too! Then painted

sweeeeeeeeet
Wait you used paint on the inside you would be taking in those fumes for sure :(
That isn't a Weber grill
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Why in the F would you spray paint right on to of you’re concrete like that 😮
What white cheese does chipotle use for their bowl?! I need to know
monterey jack or white cheddar. Their website will list it.
Weber and Char-Broil are two different brands. Also, Weber has never made an offset smoker.
You're right I was way off.
Look at that…..
Ummmm, that is not a Weber. It just has the temp gauge.
Oh bizizii ix here sweety
Did everything but fire it up 😎
I tried haha

I did notice the change in clothing. I enjoyed the basketball shorts the most 🍑
Good job, but your painting technique makes me want to jump off a bridge...........
HAHA it’s awful right?
Come on Man U can’t paint the inside of the bbq with that paint ! Read the instructions first u teach people and u don’t know what u doing
My head hurt when you called this a weber charbroil grill. Don't insult weber like that.
Great job.
