Dehumanizer is such an underrated album. I read somewhere that this period of RJD’s life was full of disdain regarding the state of the world at that time. He had said that no one cared about rainbows. And i think this is what made the album so beloved by myself. It is an unflinching look at our modern world. Rest in peace, Ronnie.

    THANX ❤️💀🤘
Wooow... Im an old fart who around 1980 realized that the music world actually WAS bigger than Kiss, ABBA, Sweet, Slade and Status Quo (and of course Cyndee Peters and Ted Gärdestad 😊)...
When I discovered Rolling Stones it was a small step to find and love Purple, Uriah Heep, Maiden, Saxon, Accept, Krokus, AC/DC, Tygers of Pan Tang, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, King Pin Meh, Def Leppard...
    And Black Sabbath... wooow...
I drove a delivery truck in Sweden in the mid 80's for two weeks and bought a new Black Sabbath casette EVERY DAY!!! I was (in-) famous for beeing the Metal Delivery Man during these weeks, cause it was ALWAYS Sabbath on the highest volume with windows down (in February!!!) when I arrived with the goods 😂
I already had the albums, so I left the collection of cassettes in the truck when the ordinary driver returned - hope he enjoyed it!!!
Thats my Sabbath-story, thanx for giving me yours - I actually learned a few new things 🤘

The reason for Dio to leave in 1981/82 was a bit more complicated. There was a lot more drugs involved with Tony and Geezer. In interviews it is stated that they were late at rehearsals and the guy who mixed the album was an alcoholic. That man lied to Tony and Geezer that Ronnie and Vinny ruined the mix while it was himself who f-ed up.
At that time Dio got a call from the reccord label to start a solo-career. So in combination of this situation, relation between the band and what you stated in this video he decided to leave with Vinny and start the Dio band.

good video but some errors and some better context could had been provided.
Ozzy had been planning to go solo since 1976 he did not like the direction of where sabbath was going, Ozzy wanted to go back to the early sabbath sound while iommi wanted to be technical (as we see Iommi spenting more and more time in the studio). it was Don who was setting up Ozzy.'s solo band he saw he could have 2 cash cows. the first Blizzard of Ozz was going to have the Necromandus guys but this fell throught because Ozzy had to return to sabbath. Fifteen songs were worked up with this new formation. This songs went so far as to have been recorded in demo form and while these demos are unheard at this point. the word is they went in the more progressive rock style with Rush as the proposed model the band was heading towards.
Ozzy in 1979 " "It's been scratched. I'm not singing on their new album at all, Geezer's not playing on the album. It's a completely new band - I want that made perfectly clear. They'll probably sound very much like Foreigner-that was the last album they were all into. I couldn't stand where they were going. We were influencing bands at one time, and the bands we were once influencing are now influencing us. It's come full circle. That is the time when you've got to say, hey, what are we doing wrong? The year before, it was Queen."
this is a big error, Dio was never told how to sing by the sabbath guys, that is NOT the reason he left Sabbath in 1982. Dio's singing is the one thing heavily praise at the time in interviews and now by iommi and geezer. that break up happened because of a misunderstanding between the band members about mixing the live evil and engineer. the situation got out of hand from the band not speaking to each other, the heavy touring had took its toll, Geezer mentions if they had took time off before doing live evil they would not had broken up.
    Other problems during that era..
the conflict between iommi/geezer and dio was due to Ronnie's requests about royalties. On the Sabbath albums through Heaven and Hell, the band split the royalties evenly four ways. Ronnie suggested during the making of Mob Rules that he should receive 50% of the royalties for writing the lyrics and vocal melodies. Instead they were split evenly three ways, with Vinny left out. Then Ronnie indicated that he wanted Ozzy's share of the royalty on Ozzy-era songs he sang live. This didn't happen either. The whole "sneaking in" story never added up and always led to more questions, where if they had just said "It was about money," that probably would have ended the entire controversy in about 30 seconds. Most acrimonious splits tend to come down to money. there is a statement from Dio that 'those ideas (songs) on H&H and Mob Rules were his (Dio's) and Tony's, and that they credited everyone in the Group (on H&H) and Geezer on MR in order to help keep things harmonious. Ronnie has also addressed Geezer's lack of participation writing-wise for the MR album, Dio state that the reason for this was that Geezer was saving the material he was writing at the time for a solo album. Ronnie then goes on to state that if that was true, where was Geezer's solo album?
The writing and recording of the Mob Rules album is when things started to turn sour with that lineup and one of the main reasons I've read for that - which to me seems quite plausible - was due to increased pressure on the Group due to the success of H&H and the subsequent tour, which led to increased drug use not only by the Members of Sabbath but also by their record producer at the time, Martin Birch.
The increased pressure carried over to the tour after the MR album was released, culminating in the split during the mixing of Live Evil. Dio felt it should have mostly been Iommi/Dio given the two of them had written the album. He just couldn’t understand giving away credits like that.
Craig Goldy has mentioned in a relatively recent interview that Ronnie did get his desired royalty split in the Dio band. Ronnie took 50% of the royalty for writing the lyrics and vocal melodies. He then took half of what was left, so a total of 75% for cowriting and arranging the music. This left the other cowriters with 25% to share. Goldy wasn't mad about this, he said it was how the music business worked, and that Ronnie had paid his dues to get to that point. Maybe Ronnie was kinda overcompensating for how he'd been treated by Ritchie Blackmore, payment-wise. that was ugly business Dio never received any during the Rainbow years, the Dio band was initially financed by what assets the couple had at the time. I think Dio was desperate to get paid and make things work.
Pete Restey, who was Sabbath's keyboard tech in the Mob Rules era, and is credited on Live Evil. Restey says the major reason for disagreements between Dio and Iommi and Butler is that Dio wasn't getting his fair share of the merchandise money.
its important to note Live Aid because that had been in the works for a while and the intention what for the OG line up to reunite, it almost happened but Don sued Ozzy, Ozzy thinking it was because of Iommi, Ozzy backed out.
Ray did not form Blue Murder after Ray left Sabbath he tried out for Blue Murder. he was rejected because he could not sing according to John Sykes. John would bring in Tony Martin to sing on the album (1988), Martin wrote lyrics, melodies and provided guide vocals for John. Martin left Blue Murder to join Black Sabbath at the request of iommi and Cozy in 1988.
That 1992 Ozzy reunion was in the works for a long time, these was going to be a tour and maybe an album, but Ozzy broke it off. No More Tours Tour was meant to be Ozzy's last tour because of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but he was incorrectly diagnosed, and Sharon still continued to call it No More Tours Tour, the sabbath guys were tricked or conned into played those gigs thinking Ozzy was retiring. So in away Sharon intended to break up the sabbath.
Cross Purpose was always meant to be called Black Sabbath, Geezer Butler has made statements that this album was not supposed to be released as a Black Sabbath album, the others members on the album dispute his claims. Geezer's statements came about because at the time they were still in talks with Ozzy for a reunion.
Bobby Rondinelli: "No fucking way I was asked to join Black Sabbath. We recorded a Black Sabbath album and then we toured as Black Sabbath. A Geezer / Iommi album? That doesn't make any fucking sense."
Tony Martin: "Wow, I never knew that. We all thought it was a Black Sabbath album when we were recording it, It is possible that Geezer and Tony had something else in their minds because Black Sabbath was, of course, the master of deception. Geezer, lovely guy though he is, does have a habit of saying some odd things at times. Maybe there was some scheme we were kept in the dark about. Maybe there could have been some pressure from the Osbournes but that was not the kind of information Tony Iommi would ever pass on. I can't see it though because it was far from a 'Seventh Star' situation. The music sounded like Black Sabbath to me. The other thing is that the name Black Sabbath carries so much weight, something Tony discovered of course with 'Seventh Star' and the way that whole thing backfired. Tony Iommi owns the name Black Sabbath, Ozzy doesn't. There's no way he would give that name up.
There was something else too which makes me find the whole 'not Black Sabbath' thing a bit weird. That was very much Gloria Butler's baby. She had a very clear picture of how all the photographs were going to look, the artwork, everything, even before we started. When it was finished it looked exactly like Gloria had said it would. So, if it wasn't Black Sabbath you would think Geezer's wife might have known about it."
Geezer: "I wasn't happy with that at all, That album was not supposed to be Black Sabbath. It wasn't Black Sabbath because at the time the whole reunion with Ozzy was under discussion. I never viewed it as Black Sabbath. We were talking to Ozzy. How could it be Sabbath? It was the same old thing though. It has happened so many times."

@@RuthlessMetalYT I haven't really checked out the post-Ozzy albums, to be honest. Well, I did listen to Heaven And Hell with Dio awhile back and kinda enjoyed it. That record is pretty good.

Love the Tony Martin era, Headless Cross and Tyr are probably my two favorite Sabbath albums. Seventh Star is up there as well, but of course I live the Dio albums and first 6 Ozzy albums as well. Wish that the post-Ozzy era would get more recognition.

Glen Hughes has an incredible voice. Did he sing on any other record except during live shows for deep purple? He is in my opinion the best replacement for Dio who could sing Dio songs sounding nearly the samw

Sabbath my favorite band of all time. I hear geezer and iommi going to do a blue record. Also during Ted Donato era theyvhad a bassist that did sexual assault and he was fired and his tracks were deleted. I do have to say 7th star and forbidden was pretty weak

I love the first five albums, but felt they started to go downhill with Sabotage. The Dio albums are great, but they weren't Black Sabbath. They should have changed their name for those. The last album I liked was the Gillan one. Not great, but good. Again, though, not Black Sabbath. After Born Again, they weren't worth listening to anymore. Take it easy.
