In this video, we perform instrumented 0-to-60 and quarter-mile testing on Cadillac's 2024 Le Mans entry, the Cadillac V-Series.R - and race it against several roadgoing supercars.
Thanks to Balance of Performance (BOP) rules, the Cadillac's 5.5-liter cross plane-crank, 8800-rpm V-8 is limited in output thanks to a restrictor plate - and its electric hybrid motor is also turned down.
But there are no BOP rules on the road, so the Cadillac team turned the wick all the way up.
Meanwhile, the road cars were vying for a chance to race the Cadillac. The Ferrari 296 GTB with Assetto Fiorano (sport) package comes with Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires to deal with the 818 hp from its twin-turbo, 120º 3-liter V-6 and electric motors.
The McLaren 720S uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-plane-crank V8.
And the rear-engined Porsche 911 sends its 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six's power to all four wheels, with a blazing launch that'll keep up with a 1500-hp Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport to 60 mph.
But can any of them keep up with a Le Mans car? And what about in a rolling race from the Cadillac's 60-kph pit-speed limiter? We find out with Le Mans royalty Sébastien Bourdais at the wheel!

Funny as we were talking about BoP with Seb this afternoon. And he seems happier with the one he got at Willow Springs with you guys than the one which is applied here in Le Mans...
Should put the Caddy up against a 2022-2024 F1 car. That would be a fun comparison 🤙🏾
I hate Jason Cammisa, i might aswell unsub to hagerty now you drop him in without warning.
What a great value the Porsche Turbo is. And it can be dosile as well to be used as a family car with space for lugage.
No wonder the Ferrari is the basis for their Le Mans winning car.
Ferrari 296 GTB will be smoked by Lucid Air Sapphire, easily. As for Cadillac Le Mans race car, even from a roll from 50, it will not keep up with the electric sedan.
F*** me sideways! This Cadillac starting electric and then turning the monstrous V8 is just next level, nothing comes close!
Except when a ferrari does the same exact thing ...also reason why ferrari won

The Cadillac starting the gas engine ranks among one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard. I probably watched that 20 times. Holy crap.
Hearing it fire up right in front of the pit box you're working in is an incredible experience, or a really scary one if you aren't expecting it
Love the Cadillac, but loving the GTP class and hypercar class in WEC! Porsche, Ferrari and caddy have made great cars, bmw looks awesome but needs a little bit of improvement
The ev to gas transition of the Cadillac never fails me... 🤤
Try Regera....
@@singular9only one gear. It ain’t that impressive
If this was how hybrid cars worked and sounded in the real world, I'd own one for sure!
@@singular9 I love the Regera, but ain't got NOTHING on what that monster Cadillac can do.
Nothing new. Hybrid prototypes at Leman having been doing this since 2012.
The fact the GM as willing to send out that car, shows how much hype this show gets. I love it!!!
They made a documentary on the Cadillac hypercar in collaboration with Hagerty. So, that's how I guess this Cadillac ended up there.
Still not enough hype
They're making a street legal hypercar too
the only thing that matches up to this is Carwow getting a Red bull F1 car and a Motogp bike to drag races . I'm glad companies are willing to do this kind of thing so we can watch videos and content like this 💯
Crazy how modified GTR 35 can beat all of them
The radar detector ad in this video might be the most well placed ad of all time.
That 911 get off the line like a electric car. Damn
Gotta love that 911TT Holeshot! That thing has to be a beast of any 1/8th mile drag track! At the 8th mile it easily had 3 cars on both of the other two then to be reeled in the 2nd 8th like it was stopped compared to the Ferrari...
@@nickp.4915the Ferrari cost considerably more, and had to have an electric motor to even have a chance against the Porsche.
@@chrisrogers5974 well The 488 pista or the F8 are faster than the 911 but they need hell of lot traction to do that
Porsches are good with torque
I'm actually really curious about what the 2025 911 turbo s is going to be like. I was talking to one of the sales managers at the Porsche dealership and he hinted that the 911 GTS hybrid system with the electric turbo will be also on the turbo s but with more boost. That should put it smack dab into terrifying territory.
Hagerty and Camissa should win an Oscar for best cinematography in the car business. Makes all others look like amateurs!

Carwow who ? 😅
A trifecta of presentation. Host, video effects and car selection.
Thank-you for not calling it "editing"
The switch from electric to combustion on the Cadillac is heavenly ♥️
Sounds like a space ship enter the hyperspace.. amazing
Just shows you that combustion engine has a soul compared to electric 😢
Turbo s on this surface should do 10.3 easy if not 10.2
Agreed. The switch from any EV to combustion engine is heavenly. And I cannot wait until the EV pipe dream is over. I'll give it a few years.
This is better than any tv show i have ever seen. RUclips, tv, movie, you name it. This is absolutely absurd cinematic gold. Thank you Hagerty.
Probably the best VFX I've seen in a made-for-RUclips video ever.
Agreed, not seen this channels vids before and that was way unexpected.
The closing speed on that Ferrari made it look like the 911 had a problem. That's INSANE
The Ferrari's 818HP vs the Porsche's 640HP, there's no comparison.
When the 911 Turbo S gets some electric assistance in its next update, then it'll be a fairer fight.
@@metarugia3981
Still, what Ferrari has done with 296 is really commendable.
It's stupidly fast and they have managed to make a V6 sound so good. Meanwhile all turbo Porsches sound like a Vacuum cleaner. And hybrid will be no different.
Unless they decide to hybridised that racing straight six from GT series.
Man that would be a gem.
The Flyby
@@chequeredflag05 Hybridizing the GT3/4 engine makes a lot of sense. The only real criticism of that engine is that it doesn't make a ton of low-end torque. Do you know what makes maximum torque output from 0 RPM? Electric assist motors. It's an easy way to fortify that engine into an absolute monster.
Not really. The top end is not as good as the initial build up. It will lose in a 1/2 mile to multiple cars. It’s still crazy what Porsche has done with this car though
Shots from inside , FPP SHOTS , slow-motion shots from every angle , him walking with cars in slow motion. As we can see there are no camera mans all around that track. And green screen effects or not don't know. Drone shots . Sound effects. Just shows how must efforts are done on a single video 🤯This is unbelievable video. Just want to know how they make these videos.
Never seen something this impressive
People actually belive the cars are set to roll at 1mph and jason just flaps around them... I call BS. The reflections are artificially inserted, and its fucking brilliant.
It's absolutely bonkers, i cant get over the production.
@@dalar2 to get slow motion shots at that fps is just possible on huge camera set ups. Don't know how these guys do it. Or how many times they race to get different perspectives, and combining them together as it was a one shot race.

But you guys have officially taken the cake. You found the BEST sounding race car on a grid today and filmed it's party trick for our viewing pleasure. You have a fan for life.
This is by far the best automotive video I’ve watched on RUclips. Ever.
Him tapping the spoiler during the slow mo review was actually pretty cool. Slow mo reviews never get old.
Fun fact: The 296's V6 is actually the same engine that the 499P, the Ferrari Le Mans Hypercar, uses
and infact won Le Mans last year.
And they have done it again.
Forza Ferrari!
In the same way the vg30 from the z32 was the same as the vg30 in the r86v. Theres going to be SO many differences for the race car than the road car
drag race is cringe af anyways, hypercars are 20+ sec faster per racing lap, only thing that 296 got is launch control it can't touch caddy
kinda like a modern version of the dino engine being both successful in racing and road cars
@@2dank361 and caddy can't touch the ferrari 499p

Can we apprciate the cinematography for a second??? That shot of Jason walking alongside the cars driving in ultra slow motion is FAN-TAS-TIC!!!
The engine sounds to go along with the car intros, great touch 👌
Thank you for those caddy clips
I can’t believe the 296s speed
It's so dumb. Every video I see of one it just doesn't make sense how hard that thing pulls...
It's not even a 9sec car. For that price, that's actually kinda slow these days.
It has the same V6 as the Ferrari Le mans car
Sounds like 4 cylinders
@@Change1504definitely doesn't 😂
More videos with Jason please. He’s honestly the only reason I watch this channel
We have the blame the Holy trinity for just how ridiculously fast these modern supercars have became. Motortrend tested the 918 and laferrari to 60; after the 100 ft rollout the laferrari pulled a 2.4 , matching the 918 . ( the 918 managed 2.2 another time , even crazier still) , the p1 isn’t o be left out, doing the deed in 2.6-2.8 sec. This was 11 YEARS ago, where the likes of Shelby Supercars with their Ultimate aero , Bugatti Veyron, and Pagani with high horsepower numbers. In a good way , the holy trinity paved the way in setting the benchmark for all modern day super cars and sports cars alike. Jason I appreciate your content! This is amazing. To conclude , the 750s, 296 gtb, and 992 911 turbo s are a reminder to what happened nearly 12 years back , where 0-60 in less than 3 seconds was considered nuts. Here are three road legal supercars SLAYING out here. What a golden time to be alive!!!!!
5:12 The time in which the Ferrari 296 GTB reels the Porsche 911 Turbo S back in from launch and blows past it is simply insane. *Phenomenally insane!*
I mean it's got almost 200hp more 🤷♂🤷♂
@@stringyGGit's still a Porsche and as the saying goes *Porsche horses are better than other horses"

This was an EXTREMELY well-made video that had me gripped from start to finish and should be the basic standard for all head 2 head comparison videos going forward 🏆
4:34 how hard the 296 and 750S were pulling was so cool
Yeah I've seen videos of them racing farther and they just like stay the same distance and don't change I do like Mclean more and it is 180k cheaper so there are some benefits to be seen.
So, finally Jason got his hands on a 296 for a video

The real difference isn't just the power; I would have loved to see each of these cars do a few corners to witness the insane mechanical grip and downforce of the LeMans car!
When it comes to cornering, the 911 Turbo S is far from the fastest among the Porsches. GT2 RS would be a better choice.
I find myself saying that every video, I know the budget triples if they tried to put in a lap as well. But my nice consolidation prize this time was the rolling start with the caddie 😮😊
Same! We all know the caddy would demolish the other cars. But it would be nice seeing a lap time difference, while the cars was there :) It's still an entertaining video tho :)
@@AlenHR It isn't, the GT3s and even the Cayman GT4s have faster cornering than the Turbo S. The 911 GT models were made to corner. The Turbo S wasn't.
@@Rubmaster To give you some idea, Le Mans qualifying took place earlier today, this same yellow Cadillac in the video qualified second overall with a time of 3:24.782, the fastest Ferrari 296 qualified 3rd in its class with a time of 3:58.938, that's a fully race prepped GT3-spec version of the 296 and it's still 34 seconds slower, they're really nothing more than moving chicanes for the LMH/LMdH class cars the Caddy is in, a normal road going 296 would likely be around a minute or more slower.
