Could listen to Dio interviews all day. Such an intelligent and classy man. And what a talent. A real loss for everyone. I feel blessed that I was able to see Dio several times in concert and was always great. RIP Ronnie
Huge impact on me 1982-85. Saw him in Calif 1983-Dec-30 (in Long Beach with Dokken and Y&T). Wife and I attended his funeral in Burbank, May 2010. A powerful man.
sometimes he lies... b/c Tony and Geezer are SUPER-HONEST (as is Ozzy and Bill Ward).... and none of them have the ego that Dio does. (EX: You can tell Dio is always lying about the mixing of Live Evil.) (EX: when he uses the old trick of the HALF-truth: "i've NEVER touched a fader!" UH, yeah... but the band TELLS the engineer to raise or lower, during a mix, so that's a FALSE thing to tell the public.)
ALSO, keep in mind RJD is a SMALL guy. THAT MEANS "DICTATOR" who has all sorts of EGO problems. (The dudes in Black Sabbath had no trouble getting girls etc, so NO EGOS.) The very fact that he's SMALL (women don't like that) in this terrible world... AND it took him 30 years to find success in the biz... ALSO gave him some messed-up bitterness etc.
I’m sooooooooooo glad I got to see Dio in concert. When I got the news that he had passed, I felt like I got stabbed in the gut. This was my childhood hero.
Andre Najm Yeah, he seemed rather cynical at times. Not just in that interview. I don't agree with many things I've heard him say in interviews but he had his own ideology about life and I respect that. People should be free to believe in whatever they want.
My problem with Ozzy in Sabbath is that he is too high in the mix. It’s painful sometimes to crank them up because the voice, any voice, is too loud and I’d rather hear the band. Do I crank it up anyway? Yes, I do.
Thing is it's true. Ronnie can get away with saying that cause Ozzy can't sing well (well, can't sing at all nowadays) whereas Ronnie was one of the greatest and most consistent. Ozzy tbh has gotten through always being a part of something greater. The musicians of Sabbath, always surrounded by fantastic musicians solo.
I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING RONNIE AND SABBATH. HE WAS THE MOST CORDIAL AND FRIENDLY "ROCKSTAR", AND I USE THAT TERM LIGHTLY REGARDING RONNIE, THAT I HAVE EVER MET. GOOD AND GENUINE PERSON. A TRUE GREAT.
Notice that Ronnie's speaking voice is so clean and he never makes any coughing sounds like many of us do in a talk. I think he really knew how to take care of his voice.
Never smoked cigarettes or was addicted to Nicotine, had a blunt every now and then and beer. That was about it. He was a brilliant loving caring man that cared about the music he did and the lyrics he wrote and the fans he made. Saw him live numerous times and even though the man got older, he never cheated or auto-tuned or changed his set-up or get-up. You got what you payed for with Ronnie. A phenomenal human being, and they seldom come enough in generations.
@@Morra5472 you're the lucky one listening to him live, so I bless youtube😀 Anyway Ronnie is such an inspiring person. If only everyone did their job so well.

I've listened to quite a few interviews with Dio and one the things that have always drawn my attention is that he never spoke bullshit, there was always something interesting, something insightful in whatever he said. Miss him so bad. Best singer ever; and I'm not saying 'best heavy metal singer ever,' that goes without saying, I'm saying 'best singer,' period. It's impossible to find someone that can be so flawlessly perfect technically speaking, so inspirational in lyrics, and that can convey so many differently things when it comes to intensity and emotions. I may well die 100 years old, and yet there will be no one who can even equal RJD. Bless him!!
Love Dio. Miss his existence. He, 4 most of my life, has been motivation, hope, reason, everything 2 live 4. Biggest fan of the single greatest singer, songwriter, frontman, performer, band, persona, guy, man & hero ever, straight up, hands down, w/o any doubt. The fucking greatest. God bless him & may he forever be remembered, respected, honored, loved, heard, talked about, admired, looked 4 & 2 & may he rest in peace. Dio forever...grimm
The music Ronnie created with Sabbath is metal perfection. To fill Ozzy's shoes took balls. He didn't try to replace Ozzy or imitate Ozzy. They created a whole new thing and it was brilliant. To me it's a whole separate band. There's no comparison. Then when Holy Diver came out it was yet another unique and brilliant creation. Thankfully, over the years I've had the opportunity to see Ronnie with Sabbath and his solo incarnation. Yes, Ronnie is a metal legend. RIP RJD.

In Anycase Ronnie James DIO KICKS ASS !
I always thought Dio's last two records were his absolute best. Killing The Dragon and Master Of The Moon. All his music was amazing though. I would say one of his finest albums was Lock Up The Wolves. Love his outlook on animals because that's how I feel as well. Animals are better than people.

Gösta Hare unfortunately for his type of music you have to tour pretty much globally. westerners don't give a shit about intelligent music anymore so it seems dead here but europe, the far east and south america love smart rock like metal and prog with a huge passion. I just wish north america and uk could have that passion for strong intelligent music like they do
I already knew this going in to it, but watching this video, Ronnie James Dio was just a class act. 100 percent a class act. This guy had more grace and humility than anyone else in Rock & Roll history. If there was more people like him like him in the world, the world would be a much better place
Holy Diver Last in Line and Dream Evil are holy albums! They have some sort of aura around them and they never get boring. When you listen to them, all bullshit in society goes away and nothing matters more than those songs.
I was lucky enough to see him live three times in Italy back in the 90s. Great remembrance of those years. My utmost respect for this consummate Gentleman and one of the Greatest Metal Vocalists of all time. His legacy will be the benchmark by which future vocalist will be judged.

This is Epic footage. Gosh, I miss Ronnie. What a humble icon. Eric is a great Interviewer - great questions...and sit back and listen to a legend speaking his mind.
Dio - I know some people thought the guy was smug at times but let's be honest, he was - hands down - the greatest vocalists of his time. To walk into a band as revered as Sabbath and produce Heaven and Hell is simply astounding, by any measure. I wasn't a huge fan of his onstage persona but his singing blows me away today as much as it did the first time I heard him. Ozzy may have been the spark for heavy metal but Dio was the heart and soul.
wtf dude Ozzy was not the "spark" for heavy metal. Tony Iommi was the primary architect. Ozzy's only real responsibility in it's creation was the lyrics for Black Sabbath and let's be honest, it's the music that makes that song metal.
@@sds4life17 Geezer has stated before that Ozzy wrote the lyrics to Black Sabbath. How the fuck are any of us supposed to get our facts straight if even they can't?
@@j800r Ozzy wrote only a few song lyrics, so you're both right and wrong. And DIO is definitely one of the GREATEST... but I still say IAN GILLAN of DEEP PURPLE (1970 - 72) is IMO THE best male rock singer ever. LISTEN to DP's "IN ROCK" and "FIREBALL" albums on RUclips! Also maybe start with "Child In Time". (EVEN DIO stole HALF his style from.... IAN GILLAN.)
Wanna know how to make it as a legend the business? Dio is the template. Have massive talent. Work your ass off. Never ever give up. And treat your fans with respect.

Ronnie’s music is sacred and is full of spiritual knowledge to me. You can’t get better than that as an artist.
That's is how I see it also. DIO music is spiritual with depth and deeper than we think. Not with Ozzie.
2019 and I'm just now seeing this interview? What a treat. I thought I've seen everything from Dio but Christmas comes early when I find a clip or an interview I haven't watched yet or forgot about. Thank you for uploading. RIP RJD
It took a long time in my life, to tell a Man besides my Dad I Love them. I Love Ronnie.
Ronnie is brutally honest, and most folks get offended.
Gerber Bernstein 61 guys get offended!
Most folks are pussys
sometimes he lies... b/c Tony and Geezer are SUPER-HONEST (as is Ozzy and Bill Ward).... and none of them have the ego that Dio does.
(The dudes in Black Sabbath had no trouble getting girls etc, so NO EGOS.)
The very fact that he's SMALL (women don't like that) in this terrible world... AND it took him 30 years to find success in the biz... ALSO gave him some messed-up bitterness etc.
Gerber Bernstein so
I’m sooooooooooo glad I got to see Dio in concert. When I got the news that he had passed, I felt like I got stabbed in the gut. This was my childhood hero.
No doubt friend. Still sad to this day
I love his attitude in this interview!
+Veselin Krastev I LOVE DIOS MUSIC B UT DONT LIKE HIS DISRESPECT TO THE CHRISTIANS.
Andre Najm Yeah, he seemed rather cynical at times. Not just in that interview. I don't agree with many things I've heard him say in interviews but he had his own ideology about life and I respect that. People should be free to believe in whatever they want.
+Andre Najm yet he wore a cross,go figure
By not believing what a Christian believes he's disrespecting Christians?
Color Me Rainbow ...only in their minds...
Awesome interview. BUT! I just wanna say, I am a huge Ozzy fan, and a huge Dio fan. Love em both!🤘🏽🤘🏽
Yes
Legend is not a strong enough word. No one comes close!
When you're Bruce Dickinson's idol...that tells you how great you are.
"When you can sing as good as I can, I'll show you respect." Love it!
Straight up burn.
I'd listen to Ozzy over Dio any day. Dio had a nice voice, sure, but Ozzy had a more unique voice.
My problem with Ozzy in Sabbath is that he is too high in the mix. It’s painful sometimes to crank them up because the voice, any voice, is too loud and I’d rather hear the band. Do I crank it up anyway? Yes, I do.
In Ozzy we trust.
Very glad interviews like this are still up on RUclips.
Ronnie is my spirit animal. The music industry needs artist like this. More now then ever.
What a great guy and he respected and loved his fans and he showed it
Dio had the most epic voice ever
I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING RONNIE AND SABBATH. HE WAS THE MOST CORDIAL AND FRIENDLY "ROCKSTAR", AND I USE THAT TERM LIGHTLY REGARDING RONNIE, THAT I HAVE EVER MET. GOOD AND GENUINE PERSON. A TRUE GREAT.
thats must be the best experience in your life !
Glad to hear because others are talking shit here
You can tell in two minutes listening this man has such a high IQ and common sense about him. A really good role model for anyone really
Eric blair is a good interviewer. Genuinely interested in the artists he interviews
THANKS CODY M !!! YOU ROCK !!!
Totally agree. Great job.
And a mtl head too
And they respect him it seems
@@blairingoutshow Dude amen ! You sound like a classic USA.Cali kid which is great but you pulled off an interview with a then living god ! Grats !
I get alot of sacred, ancient and spiritual meanings out of his lyrics. And what an amazing band!
Neon Knights yeah! It's giving me power.
An uplifting energy, rage, and excitement.
The best song of dio
For some reason I still feel like Ronnie is still alive. I don’t remember he’s passed until I see “RIP”
Ronnie is still alive. I think I saw him in my french toast this morning.
Such a great guy. Rip dio.
Unfamiliar with Eric Blair til now. Enlightening to hear Dio speak so highly of others, performing, and the message behind his music. Very accurate describing music in the service. Great motivator for teamwork especially played out loud. Eric Blair asked the right questions to keep the conversation moving and stimulating, kudos.
I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears? RJD is the Nicest, Sweetest, Honest person and celebrity I've ever met! Thank you Ronnie and Vinnie for talking to us (fans), that stuck around after your last concert in Cleveland! On behalf of everyone there....Thank You..we love you..RIP
I could watch this man talk for hours...The GOAT
I the mid 80's some friends of mine met Dio after a concert and invited him to their party. He actually showed up! That is the kind of man he was. This is a great interview by the way, Eric Blair seems great at getting guests to speak naturally.
Ronnie is so genuine...a good soul...a talent...a unique intelligent personality in the metal community. He was ALWAYS great to his fans. He is missed. Legend.
This guy is metal incarnate, and incredibly smart and well spoken. What a legend.
Such a loss of a kind, generous, talented, and intelligent human being, with an unearthly powerful voice.
My dad tattoo'ed Ozzy Osbourne's knee caps through his ripped jeans, 2 smiley faces, My dad was 17 and Ozzy was 19 at the time, here in Birmingham, England and my aunt used to be Ozzy's GF, he does still talk to my aunt and my uncles after all these years.......
@@creamwobbly Ozzy don't remember where had it done because all the years of drug abuse, my dad did his knee cap tattoo, I know this as fact.
R/thathappened
I thought Ozzy did those smiley tattoos himself in prison.
@@gabrielbrouwer You've just read where he got them from, my dad has no reason to lie, Ozzy maybe does not remember because he's took A LOT of drugs over the years and clearly they've f'ed him up mentally.
"I will take some credit for it, for a change."
The gold standard for heavy-metal vocals recognized by pretty much anyone in the industry.
I wish Dio made more albums with Tony, Geezer and Vinnie. Every song form them is a masterpiece!
Yeah.. 4 studio albums are not enough.. always imagine how many masterpieces they could make together... Alas..
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile, because it happened."
Not even two minutes in and Eric cuts to the chase with inquiries on "Sign of the Southern Cross" being my favorite Dio-era Sabbath song (2nd fav Sabbath overall slighly behind Ozzy's N.I.B.). Good call!
A class act, such a great loss.
My young boys ask to "rock" to Dio after dinner every night these days before bed time. RIP
I saw him at the Boston Gardens during the Black and Blue Tour. Dio is such a down to earth guy.
I miss Ronnie James 💔 He always seemed so wise and didn't give a fuck about any negativity that surrounded him. Ronnie simply carried on and handled his business. RIP Ronnie James Dio
Loved his work in Rainbow & Sabbath
What a smart, sharp ,legendary human! Still miss old Ronnie James! Love you brother! And now, we are the" last in line" for the majority who REALLY remembers you..
RIP RJD.
DIO is the man & always will be the man...
As a Vocalist... DIO Is a Singer and He Absolutely Covers Every Base Technically and His Own Tequnique... He also Knows to Throw it ALL OUT THE WINDOW.... Don't Think about any of it... Just Become The Song.. Pour Your Heart Out, Bare Your Soul .... Dio's Singing and Music Affected and Inspired Many People in Countless Ways..
Whether it be Inspiring Singers and Musicians to Provoking Thought and Philosophy to Being Interpreted in Countless Ways that have Even Changed Peoples Lives by Saying the Right thing at the Right time and a Person so Far Down or in a Situation Finding Strength in the Music to Make A Change...
RJD brought me so much happiness in my life. Every time he made new music it was great. I really miss him.
GREAT interview!!!! This really gave me insight into RJD....what a true professional...RIP MR. Dio
RIP Ronnie James Dio. Thank you for all of your amazing music you gave us, nobody did it quite like you
which is why he still have Fans from IRAQ , I am one since 1986 .
Ronnie James Dio, the very definition of cool! I sure wish he ain’t passed away , I hate cancer
I love the part in the end were Ronnie explains the touring plans around the World WOW at 60 years old he was about to go around the entire globe just like that Haha . Gotta love his love for Life and his passion for singing live :)
Gösta Hare unfortunately for his type of music you have to tour pretty much globally. westerners don't give a shit about intelligent music anymore so it seems dead here but europe, the far east and south america love smart rock like metal and prog with a huge passion. I just wish north america and uk could have that passion for strong intelligent music like they do
Yes,europe loves metal. And they have the reasons.
Kyle H right on!
@@kyleh1127 you got a good point there mate i agree and im 53 metal sine a kid
I was privileged that I had the honor to see him twice live! He will always be my METAL IDOL and GOD! R.I.P. RJD You will always be missed! 🤘
Ronnie, you were such a big part in my growing up and confused years, I miss you so much, Mr. Dio.
I already knew this going in to it, but watching this video, Ronnie James Dio was just a class act. 100 percent a class act. This guy had more grace and humility than anyone else in Rock & Roll history. If there was more people like him like him in the world, the world would be a much better place
GREAT interview! Dio was an amazing singer and writer! \m/
Holy Diver Last in Line and Dream Evil are holy albums! They have some sort of aura around them and they never get boring. When you listen to them, all bullshit in society goes away and nothing matters more than those songs.
That's Dio alright. I saw him once in 1996 on the Angry Machine Tour. At the time I was in high school and dealing with lots of bullshit.
@@matthewvoss7365 - Angry Machines was UNDERRATED!! Great Stuff!!
so right, after listening to 'Sacred Heart' I had a vision , a sort of God came to me, it was strange as hell...
One of the best performer's ever !!! I had the Privilege to observe Ronnie perform over 12 times. Privileged !!!
I was lucky enough to see him live three times in Italy back in the 90s. Great remembrance of those years. My utmost respect for this consummate Gentleman and one of the Greatest Metal Vocalists of all time. His legacy will be the benchmark by which future vocalist will be judged.
Ronnie James Dio I think is very underrated true professional with heart and soul and truly committed to his work rest in peace Ronnie
Great singer, great songwriter, great musician and an humble, honest down to earth person.
We miss you Ronnie, but you never truly die! You will always live on in your music and our hearts
I loved Dio As A Legendary Singer Songwriter And A Nice Man
EXCELLENT Interviewer, Always let Ronnie talk without interupting
"I don't panic about anything" - Dio. I love that deadpan answer. Haha
Tell you what, no one gave him the finger at the salt palace in salt lake city. That was the greatest concert ive ever been to and Ronnie was fantástic along with the the rest of the guys. Ive never seen ozzy with Sabbath and thats okay with me.
I can't tell how much I miss Ronnie, he was such an amazing, polite, respectful and intelligent guy. Holy Diver and Heaven and Hell are still one of my all-time favorite albums. One of the greatest singers of all time for me😢
I wonder how many millions upon millions of people Ronnie has brought joy to ,Imagine how many alone with the Butterfly ball ?
A magic voice .
ZIGSVIDS true tbat
Saw him in 84 & twice in 85 & so glad I saw Heaven & Hell in 2007 not knowing he only had a few years left.
Best singer ever! Keep rocking wherever you are, Dio!
Vocalist NOT "VOCALISTS". Dumb Ass
@@j800r Not even the lyrics dude, get the facts straight! Geezer wrote all the lyrics for Sabbath, specially all their bigest hits!
Dio was such a perfectionist. I vibe so well with the way he speaks. He will always live on in my heart and soul. RIP Ronnie
Wanna know how to make it as a legend the business? Dio is the template. Have massive talent. Work your ass off. Never ever give up. And treat your fans with respect.
"Have massive talent" well that part is easier said than done pal lol
So pleased that Eric Blair’s interviews are online. Eric has interviewed RJD so many times over the years and it’s great to remember why I’m still a Dio fan. RJD music keeps on giving in late 2019. RIP RJD
One word to describe RJD- PASSIONATE
The southern cross is a literally cross of stars seen in the southern hemisphere.
