I don’t care what people say , he was operating out of a ungodly spirit. God is not a God of fear. It’s unfortunate that he was deceived that way and preached that way in his music. The truth is God is love and that is the only true message .
I met Mr. Dio in 1984 when I was 16 years old and in my first band. My family was up in Montreal visiting relatives and we were walking around the city going into shops. I went into a record store while my parents and cousins waited outside. He was in there with someone from the road crew and when he left I casually followed him out and called his name. He turned around, came up to me and chatted for a couple of minutes. He was so incredibly nice and cordial. That made a huge impression on me as a kid. I was a little embarrassed as I was wearing a Scorpions "Love at First Sting" concert shirt lol. But he was like "hey nice shirt, they're friends of mine!" What a loss. So grateful for his voice. And what an intelligent human. We sure do need more of those.
Small man with a great Voice! I love that old shool heavy metal Army! Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, U.F.O., Judas Priest, Dio, Y&T, Accept, Motorhead, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, W.A.S.P., Helloween, Savatage, Armored Saint, Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head,etc...etc...
Ronnie was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in the music business. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be invited by him to have drinks at the Hilton one night. He was opening for Iron Maiden the next day and would be performing in the daytime. He said,”It’s so hard to be evil in the sunlight”. I’ll never forget that.
No matter how much Christianity does is darndest to make man out to be a worthless POS. I don't subscribe to any religion and that includes Christianity as well. I believe in God and I have my own beliefs that must be respected.
Kind of funny to me how much Chris Cornell was to him especially with older Soundgarden songs where cornell sang higher pitched and Chris has the same views as this guy
I'm a Christian and I love Dio's music. Doesn't matter if it's Black Sabbath, Rainbow, or his solo stuff. He just seemed like a kind and caring person who was probably a blast to hang out with.
@@roberttippett3733 The album is called Seeds Of Change. He sang two songs on the album: Mask Of The Great Deceiver and To Live For The King. Kerry Livgren was from the original band Kansas. It’s an album after Livgren converted to Christianity. He told none of the guest singers they were singing Christian lyrics. They all found out later. He did not lie to them and would have told them had they asked. He was new to Christianity. Ronnie’s vocals were top notch, as usual.
Many years ago, I attended a Black Sabbath concert that I was working security at. Ronnie asked me where any good restaurants were in town. One thing led to another and before you know it, I did get to hang out with him and Geezer after the concert. BOTH of them were a blast to hang out with...!!!
robert putt isn’t eye for an eye in the Old Testament? I think the stoning account in the new t trumps that. I’ll have to think more deeply about that eye for an eye thing... thanks
He is still gives credence to religious theism (how it helps some - placebo pill or not); it isn't a lack of anti-theism that I take issue with, it's the idea that there is a "God", in the the sense that there is a WORSHIP REQUIRING entity that creates a universe to satisfy it's own vanity, and a devil, that is an argument against true monotheism. Morality is a process for mutual beneficial survival. Without a scale to define it, morality doesn't exist. No use for morality in a heaven; it wouldn't exist, nor it's purpose. Like Dio, I was raised in Catholicism. "You put yourself in hell", meanwhile Jesus was uncomfortable for the weekend. Religious Gods don't exist. I don't know how we are here, is the only honest response. Still glad Dio existed. Can't think of a better heavy metal singer.
@@robertputt7794 an eye for an eye (Old Testament), in Mathew, Jesus says "offer the other cheek". Jesus was media damage control for the jealous, genocidal monster that Yahweh was.
My favorite thing Dio said was that when people tell him what his songs mean he always agrees because it's their song now not his. They own it. I fricking love that.
@@matimus100 That's a bit of a nonsense response, now isn't it? "Evil comes from religion no where else" -- Really? So no atheists practice evil? No non-religious people practicing evil? Sheesh.
I got the chance to meet him in 1989. I’ve been a huge fan my whole life. He was an absolute gem of a man who was so gentle, humble and friendly. What a loss
I got Kicked out of Church when I was 13 they kept saying it was the Devil inside me. I looked at them and Said No Dumbass it was all me. I got in trouble for Sleeping.
I agree patrick. Mankind puts himself through negative actions into a self-made "hell." That doesn't mean that a creator doesn't exist and an evil force doesn't exist, it just means that man has freewill to move toward enlightenment or away from it.
I absolutely adored this man. I was a stagehand for many years, I got to meet and hang out with him each time he came to town. He was always so wonderful with the stage hands and loaders and lighting, sound etc. He made sure he shook the hands of everyone that was involved in setting up the show. I’ll never forget him. He was a class act. ✝️🇺🇸✝️
I used to do lighting man. It makes a huge difference when a performer actually takes time to talk to the crew and treat them like humans. There's too many assholes who think that they are above the people who make the show work.
Michael Stephen you are so right. Ronnie was a great guy that always treated his fans like they mattered. Great musician and great guy that cared about people. R.I.P. Ronnie.
@@danielvibez4000 So true, here, I worked this out for you: ''She was the last in line I hit her in the back of the head with a sack of rocks so I could take her place but she recovered she stabbed me through the neck with a pitch fork we got married and lived happily ever after, then , we got back in line"
I met Dio back in '88 (Portland, ME) on his tour bus and he was extremely friendly. He never even asked about how I like his music, he asked me about myself and school.
I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since his death. I’m glad that these interviews were made otherwise his life and career would have been very misunderstood.
Some people never took the time to look into his views. Some Christians were at his funeral protesting his Christian funeral. Said that he was a Satan worshiper.
A bus driver said to me that Ronnie James Dio was the king of heavy metal. No it was not Otto from The Simpsons. I took lots of time reading about Heavy Metal icons like Ozzy, Rob Halford, Alice Cooper, Metallica. I have read them all. But I never saw any Metal icon like Ronnie James Dio. With no questions asked. Dio is and will always be The King Of Heavy Metal.
Ozzy was a pioneer in his respective genre, but was not a very nice Father, Husband, not a very nice Guy overall. Ronnie was one in a million, a rock star humbled. He also possessed a vocal range and stage presence that could compete with the best of his time. But what made him one of the best? Just watch his videos and interviews. R.I.P Ronnie, You are truly missed and your music continues your great legacy.
Get out of here about Ozzy not being a nice guy... Did you know him personally or are you just going by video clips or when he had the reality TV show? Ozzy has been fighting addiction and alcoholism problems his whole adult life that doesn't make him a bad person, he just had to deal with a lot of personal demons.
RJD was an emotionally stable guy, a talented and kind man and he had a powerful voice. Ozzy was a mess of a guy, without Sharon organizing his life he would not have lived much, maybe he would be dead after he was fired from Black Sabbath. Dude should need some therapy.
Ozzy grew up in an industrial neighborhood, he was arrested. His life wasn't easy. The guy abused substances and suddenly made a huge sucess. It lead to substance abuse developing an asshole personality. But every addict can be mean, Ozzy sober is not an asshole. But this comparison doesn't make sense.
@@zachsummers6250 I love Dio as much as everyone else but Dio was not a nice person when it came to business. Just ask Vivian Campbell. Wendy and Ronnie screwed over a lot of ex-band mates out of royalties and money that was rightfully theirs.
Dio’s powerful voice and lyrics could instantly transport me to a magical, Medieval world. He was a reincarnated, wise sage guiding we modern peasants with his tales of good vs. evil! His music still has the power to uplift spirits in the darkest times. Ronnie was, and will always be, the Man on the Silver Mountain.
This interview has brought me to love Dio. I had no idea he was such an articulate, thoughtful, kind human being. It just goes to show, never judge a book by it's cover!
Dio was a cut above the average metal frontman. Never a scandal with drugs, never made the non-music press by diving into the audience like Sebastian Bach or Axl Rose and didn't write songs about "pussy pussy fuckin' pussy drunk pussy drugs pussy pussy pussy." And, even though he wasn't religious, he lent his voice to two Christian rock songs with Kansas' Kerry Livgren, plus "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
Once a professional metal musician of that era hit their mid-30s, more of them than let on were actually dads and married to, or monogamous with, their kids' moms. All "Drugs, Sex and Rock'n'Roll" onstage, but on the tourbus, they'd be reading the latest Tom Clancy novel and nursing a drink like a bank manager. Several Rolling Stone writers talked about how boring Rush was on the road. Not every drug-free, sober rock musician turned into a racist right-winger like Ted Nugent.
Yes, he had much voice power and much brain power. His drummer Vinny Appice said about him in 2012, "He would get a book and get on the airplane and by the time we'd fly to London, the book would be finished (laughs). Just an avid reader and very, very smart."
Not only was he one of the grandmasters of metal, he was also an outstanding philosopher and poet. Wished he was the Last in Line. But he Died Young. 🤘🏻
Ronnie´s best interview. True to himself and his music. Avoiding extremes and ideological pitfalls. He does not come off as someone who knows it all, but as someone who searches and is open about God and truth.
nope. no power in the mind. believe that. there are sources to us thinking that way. its god and the devil as its ben for uhh idont know, 14, 000 yrs now.
@steven-darkYoure either a bad company fanboy or you need to get your ears checked😂Paul is no where near the vocal range of Ronnie, his voice isnt even that unique. Ronnies voice is unmistakable.
This "jesus" of Nazareth, the NAZARENE, NOT Bethlehem, was NOT The Messiah, he is NOT Who they Crucified for the sins of man. "jesus" (Latin: Iēsous), (Greek: Ἰησοῦς) Latin: Je/Ge means "Earth" Sus means "Pig". "je sus" means EARTH PIG!!! Here is the REAL Messiah, Who they REALLY Crucified for the sins of man Yad He Vav He is what Moses wrote (Dead Sea Scrolls Exodus 3) Yad = Hand He = Breath Vav = Nail He = Breath Yad He, which forms The Creators Name YaH, (Hand Breath), as YaH's Hand Forms/Creates and His Breath brings forth life (Adam) Vav He (Nail Breath), YaH's Sacrifice of Crucifixion, for those who call YaH Savior, His Breath brings forth life YaH arrives via the Tent of Meeting (Exodus 33:7:11), the exact same way YaH arrived to Joseph NOT through childbirth. YaH was NOT Crucified on a "cross", but according to Hebrew law (Deuteronomy 21), to be nailed on an Almond Tree for blasphemy as the Messiah claimed He was YaH. He was YaH, NOT this "jesus" HalleluYaH means "Praise YaH", that's what HalleluYaH means, NOT Hallelujesus people. When you pray, pray to YaH, call out His Infallible, Holy and Sacred Name...
Dio is so methodical and smart with his answers. When I met him, we was the nicest guy and patient as we briefly talked metal and his career after a show in the Portland rain. He was amazing.
Absolutely ! And not only one of the greatest voices of Rock and versatile singer but I realised after all these years how much of a piece of Rock History this man actually was. Because it's not only about his solo career and his contribution to Black Sabbath and Rainbow... Even the stuff that he did in his first band Elf was already very good quality (just because a band's music isn't very original or innovative doesn't mean it's not good) and also the few songs that he sang on Roger Glover's Butterfly Ball album were already brilliant (his performance on those song is what makes them legendary... It's that good) ! If I had to choose between Rob Halford or Ronnie James Dio, I would really choose Ronnie James Dio because it's not only a question of how high you can sing or how long you can hold a note or the power of your delivery... It's also the versatility, how your tone of voice can change according to the emotion you want to deliver... And I really think in that field, Ronnie James Dio was unbeatable. Especially in that 1970's-1980's decade... Because, yes there were people like Mike Patton later on who could also manage to show this amazing versatility and flexability in the way they use their voice, but to me, Dio was really the first one to do that.
A Giant of a man no matter what his earthly size showed. He will always be in the upper echelon of the best singers of all times. Rip Little Titan! Such a nice, intelligent and kind man. Always love me some Dio! \m/
Dio had a very sober and thoughtful approach to the topic. He was empathetic to other perspectives and never demonized (couldn’t resist) those with whom he disagreed. This generation could learn from him.
Kansas lyricist Kerry Livgren did a Christian rock album and got Dio to sing on the album. He sings the song "To Live for the King" and he belts the lyrics out with conviction and passion. I love it. He is an amazing guy and always was there for his fans, signing autographs after shows and mixing with the masses. I wish I could've met him.
He also performed the lead vocal for a 2nd song on that same album called Mask of the Great Deceiver; of that very same album, he is the ONLY lead vocalist to sing more than one song on that album. The album, Seeds of Change was recorded when RJD was in Black Sabbath. Kerry Livgren quotes that of all the questions he's asked of that album, his choosing of RJD to sing those songs is a question he's asked more often than any other question. RJD belts out those songs perfectly and with as always, you can experience the emotion he puts into every note he passionately sings. On RUclips, there is a Kansas video of the Mask of the Great Deceiver song that Kansas' main lead vocalist, Steve Walsh sings.
There are many of us as musicians (famous OR not) who see that people make their own decisions & face the consequences; so we write about it (famous OR not). I think Dio always saw it like that. It's evident in this interview. Much respect🙏
The Kansas tour after Kerry and Steve's first solo record was for Audiovisions. I saw that tour. Steve did a great job on the vocals, of course, but there was pretty clear tension about Kerry's newfound "born again" zeal.
Wow, I just acquired a higher level of respect for Ronnie after watching this. I've heard/read similar sentiments from him, but not this in-depth, in one sitting. Insightful guy, I sincerely hope he was at peace with his maker when he left this earth.
Right? he always seemed so "personable and relatable" and like he cared about everything EXCEPT! the financial gain (which is what, sadly, seems to be the motivation for so many in that industry).
@@amandagarcia6320 Being in the 'industry' myself and working with some of the biggest names..I would have to say that the Ego and attention seeking takes first place before financial gain which is pretty much 99% of the human populations goal..But Ronnie stood out as a very generous and humble man..I met enough rock stars in my time to be able to differentiate the assholes from the Genuine..he was a gentleman..Even after a show in Perth Australia when Richie B walked off before the show was finished.. Ronnie got off stage and went into the audience for about an hr shaking everyones hands and thanking them for coming...not everyone is a greedy selfish asshole :)
You cant seperate religion and faith so easily and the state and their politics runs on peoples faith in said system. Faith is a belief in the integrity or trueness of a certain thing or person. Religious people have faith that their messiah and the teachings are good. People also have faith, albiet alot less now, in their society's organizational structure known as the state. Faith in basically an belief in something without physical evidence.
@@misterknightowlandco I can separate them and I do every waking moment. I am a disciple of Christ, I follow Him and Him alone. I follow his teachings as best as I am able. I believe he is the Messiah, based on Biblical Studies and I'm more than happy to live this way until I pass on.
@@dodibenabba1378 that's the way my friend! People who need the organization of the church are fine by my main point is not to bicker amongst ourselves and come together when we need to! God bless!
Such an astute man. He speaks very quickly, almost like he’s taken a bit of whizz. Amazing song writer, amazing singer incredible frontman. Left such a great collection of songs, videos and memories from concerts. Truly one of the original Rock gods, he stands beside the likes of Lemmy and Bon Scot. A one off. Truly missed. He was small in stature but he was at the same time a giant. Rock in peace forever Ronnie James Dio.
@John Thomas I don´t think he´s talking about Gothic in the sense of the modern "gothic" urban tribe, or musical genre... He´s talking about classic Gothic, as in writing and architecture (that the modern gothic genre takes its name from). Just saying... xDxD
Thank you for interviewing Ronnie James Dio. When I listen to him talk about his music and the message in some metal songs, I realize that he was such a good man, kind and compassionate, and so far removed from people who really are evil.
pepperann123456 I agree. I grew up Catholic and resonate with what Dio is talking about. I think that to be a slave to Fear greatly sabotages the possibility of any further spiritual development. Then one spends a lifetime serving fear, which is the antithesis of mature spirituality.
I learned that the true definition of religion is to take care of the widows and the orphans. I learned that from Jesus. Not many are religious. They do not take care of the widow and the orphans.
eternal fire I respectfully disagree. Do you fear your mother ? God is Truth, and Real Love is never born in fear of Truth. To fear Truth is the path to hell. I no longer believe that God is a cosmic gangster who wants us to fear him. I never fear a friend who loves me. I fear only the violent selfishness of people destroying the gift of the world. “The meek will inherit the Earth.” Who would you roast in eternal fire if you were God ?
Guys, this interview is legendary. Dio was articulate and intelligent, and that shines through in this interview. And his words will hopefully be heard by kids out there who might have otherwise been seduced into dark deeds.
I remember this interview! I recall crying when I heard he died. My favorite Dio song is "Master of the Moon" because it really touched me. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio
I grew up listening to Dio and used him as rebellion against my square parents. Come to find out when I grew up that R.J.Dio is a 100% Italian guy like my parents, Ha!
I'm 51-years old and Ronnie's music has been in my life for 36 of those years and I still listen to him on an almost daily basis. People often limit the term genuis to Physicists, geneticists, philosophers, and the occasional painter but I feel like musicians should be included - RJD being one of them. His body of work in different bands is a display of something rare. His technicality singing, painting audio canvases, his lyrics that were poetry, and his ability to bring the other members together to ensure that it was about the end product: a song, was pure genius. If anyone had any doubt about his intelligence, listening to him talk in interviews will make it apparent. He was and is a legend and a giant in metal and he will live on because metal is immortal!
As a Catholic, and a RJD/Sabbath fan, I'm pretty certain God is all good with him. God's not the problem, it's organized religion. As Bono said "religion gets in the way of God" Great IV, well thought out and intelligent man. Kudos and respect to RJD
Just got home from the cinema after seeing Dreamers Never Die ... My love, Respect and absolute admiration for what this man stood for and did, created, went through, achieved... is neverending... yeah man, the WORLD misses you Ronnie, Shine on Legend
The interview is good, but the way he handles the interruption is actually the most telling part. When the camera was off, he was not off-put, edgy, irritable, etc. and when he had to continue with the same question 5 minutes later, he popped right back into the interview. Seamless. No attitude. He sincerely wanted to give a good interview. I also love how he recognized, unlike many of his peers, that although religion is often hijacked for evil purposes, that doesn’t make the core of religion (Christianity in particular), bad in itself. People who burn churches or hate all believers because of a bad experience are being extreme. And he tried to avoid those extreme attitudes. What in interesting and down to earth guy he was.
Like he says: Heaven and hell are here on Earth and in each and every one of us. And a lot of his performances are to be found on RUclips and his music will be around for the rest of humanity's time. But yeah, I wish he was still around and I could see him perform a few more times. (Sadly saw him only twice - on the other hand, luckily I saw him perform twice.)
The spirit Ronnie had - was priceless. You could always sense, see and hear his genuineness and honesty about what made him tick. Not only was he an outstanding performer, but was also an outstanding singer, song writer, lyricist and arranger. He was a great man with a good heart who had a huge influence on myself and tens of thousands around the world. We miss you Ronnie. 😏
I love the way Dio thinks. He was Intelligent, Humble and truly the Greatest Metal musician ever. He created some of the best, if not the best Metal music out there. Rest in Peace Ronnie James Dio, Father of Metal

Ronnie was a real thinker...a very intelligent, great, and talented guy. RIP Ronnie...you will always be missed...but your great music and the great things you have done will live on and be remembered forever...
I think CATHOLICISM ruins people when I left CATHOLICISM and embraced Christ, I realized that it's not what I can do but what Jesus has done for me, as an ex metalhead it did have a darkness to it, in my life, music can have both an evil effect or a good effect, today I listen to Christian music and read the word of God, I still have my tattoos and long hair but now I preach the gospel to those who are lost. Faith is about putting your tust in Jesus. religion is putting your faith in a system of rituals, and works of an INSTITUTIONALIZED ideology. Jesus is freedom from religion into a relationship with him. be blessed
Just as you cannot get to heaven by your works, you will not goto hell by your works. Listening to good music doesnt make you a bad person. Heavy metal doesnt make you a devil worshiper. I listen to Dio, Ozzy, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, so on and so forth. I also read the bible - king james version, live by the 10 commandments, and live every day as if I am being watched... Because we all are. You can have jesus, and listen to your metal too.

I wonder what they say about pop and rap. I don't remember any metal band threatening to blow up the White House. Remember Madonna's little stunt? Madonna also French kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
Must be the rebel in you. His interview makes him sound better than what he is. You don't add Jesus to your sinful lifestyle. Like that old song: Jesus is just all right with me. Well Jesus isn't all right with you or any sinner. We all must admit to God we are sinners and must believe the gospel. The gospel is the fact Jesus paid the wages of our sins on the cross. The wages of sin is death. You must believe he did that for you. Then pray and ask him to save you from Hell. He will no matter what you have done. Btw he rose from the dead and is in Heaven next to his Father. If you receive Jesus he will receive you into Heaven when you die. Or if you are alive at his second coming he will receive you into the clouds with all other believers.
Dio was a sound-minded, down to earth person, I've always enjoyed hearing him speak. Truthfully, I've never put much thought into the music I listen to: if it sounds good, I'll listen to it again, and, perhaps, purchase it. Apparently, that seems to be the common mindset. But his revelation of what Holy Diver means takes the listener to a whole new level of getting them to understand the lyrics and allowing their free will to judge its content. At any rate, if he has a book, I'll read it, I imagine it'd be quite interesting.
use google translator, type in '' dio'' translate into Italian .. it comes back as ''god'' RJP wanted to be god and be called ''god'' , his real last name is Padvona
Ronnie James Dio was and will always be among the greatest musicians of all time... IMO! Meeting him, sitting at the bar and drinking a beer with him in Rochester, NY in 1992 was epic! Ronnie presented himself as a regular dude to me, a 21-year-old little hippie chick who was experiencing her dream of meeting (& a bonus to spend time talking with) her favorite rock star of all time. When I told him that, he appeared to be flattered and extended his appreciation with a "Thank you, that's really sweet. Can I buy you a drink?" As I recall, it took me a minute to catch my breath! Aside from the obvious, his musical talent and powerful vocal ability... He was an amazing conversationalist with a level head and clear grasp of reality who openly discussed his beliefs without preaching them, willing to answer random questions and even asked a few of his own, genuine and intellectual, yet totally cool and laid back, and so unbelievably easy to talk to! Even better, we saw eye-to-eye... since we stood just about the same height! To say it was a truly memorable night is an understatement! Thanks, Gary Holt, for inviting me to the hotel bar, which allowed me the privilege to live this unimaginable experience of a lifetime! Love & Magic 🤘RJD🤘 Rock In Peace!
I'm just getting into Dio. When I was 15 in 2001, I just never knew about him. I was more of a Metallica, Sepultura, lamb of God kinda guy. My dad still got me into the old stuff like Sabbath and Deep purple etc. So I knew my old music, I just find it amazing (after being almost 30 now) how this guy just slipped past me, especially being in Sabbath. Ronnie is the fucking best! I'm totally hooked, and now I'm listening to Elf and Rainbow as well. This guy is just so awesome and super down to earth. watching these interviews makes me like him even more. It truly shows that this man just had a good soul and his purpose on this earth was to ROCK! Its just so fucking sad that all the awesome people die too soon and all the ass hole live forever. Dio you the man! wish i knew about you when you were alive. I would have paid whatever to go to one of your shows.
Gaelan Kaspar the stories fans would tell still mesmerize me. How he would stay to the very end to make sure he met everyone and would talk to you as long as you liked and made sure you had a good time that was a man of the people.
I had the incredible unique pleasure to open, meet, and play two songs on stage with him back in the 80’s. In northern Cal. I’ve never been more STOKED in my life. I had only recently heard of him , and had just learned two of his songs. After our band played (a damn good set!!! I must say . ) we were coming off into the wings , when he grabbed my arm ,spun me around and said “come on ,you know our shit?” I felt like a deer in headlights ,but managed to nod my head .. he yells to the back line engineer to make me hot,and ask me what I know. I said rather sheepishly “Last in line?.? “ He gets a HUGE SMILE and says “first on the set list 😁” He made me realize why I love this business. Before that night I wanted to be rich and famous !! He showed me just how much fun it can be , if you let it , and that it’s ALWAYS about entertaining the audience ..(and ourselves at the same time) being honest in everything you do on stage. He was a great guy , we spoke afterwords for awhile , and he imparted much wisdom to this at the time stupid young wannabe !!! He will be missed .. RIP Ronnie RJD Just for shits and giggles. 30+ years later while messing around jamming with a friend. I got a wild hair and recorded this. ruclips.net/video/uULMHBEuW5g/видео.html It’s been a LOOOOONG time but I still remember most of it. 😎🎸🎶✌️

Because of what ? And we see under the new covenant under grace. Your only looking at one side and even misinterpreted that
Great story!

What may ask was the most memorable moment.

Saw his last show ever. Heaven & Hell. A true treasure. I am privileged to have experienced his musical magic.

Have you heard his work with Kerry Livgren? AD is the name of the group.
@@yactabay Thanks for the info brother. I've loved when Livgren sang for Kansas. He was a great singer. I will have to check Seeds of Change out.

I’ll have to think more deeply about that eye for an eye thing... thanks
Awesome guy.

I absolutely adored this man. I was a stagehand for many years, I got to meet and hang out with him each time he came to town.
He tried to kill his wife in the 80's and has admitted to beat her many times....do not need to know him he is a dick
Ozzy grew up in an industrial neighborhood, he was arrested. His life wasn't easy. The guy abused substances and suddenly made a huge sucess. It lead to substance abuse developing an asshole personality. But every addict can be mean, Ozzy sober is not an asshole. But this comparison doesn't make sense.

you see his stripes but you know he's clean
Dio was a cut above the average metal frontman. Never a scandal with drugs, never made the non-music press by diving into the audience like Sebastian Bach or Axl Rose and didn't write songs about "pussy pussy fuckin' pussy drunk pussy drugs pussy pussy pussy." And, even though he wasn't religious, he lent his voice to two Christian rock songs with Kansas' Kerry Livgren, plus "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
Prophet You can hear his heart but you know he's mean
Diego Silva some light can never be seen...
Man seems like an intelligent chill kind of guy. I'm here because I heard holy diver and rainbow in the dark for the first time. Dude had a voice

This "jesus" of Nazareth, the NAZARENE, NOT Bethlehem, was NOT The Messiah, he is NOT Who they Crucified for the sins of man.
"jesus" (Latin: Iēsous), (Greek: Ἰησοῦς)
Latin:
Je/Ge means "Earth"
Sus means "Pig".
"je sus" means EARTH PIG!!!
Here is the REAL Messiah, Who they REALLY Crucified for the sins of man
Yad He Vav He is what Moses wrote (Dead Sea Scrolls Exodus 3)
Yad = Hand
He = Breath
Vav = Nail
He = Breath
Yad He, which forms The Creators Name YaH, (Hand Breath), as YaH's Hand Forms/Creates and His Breath brings forth life (Adam)
Vav He (Nail Breath), YaH's Sacrifice of Crucifixion, for those who call YaH Savior, His Breath brings forth life
YaH arrives via the Tent of Meeting (Exodus 33:7:11), the exact same way YaH arrived to Joseph NOT through childbirth.
YaH was NOT Crucified on a "cross", but according to Hebrew law (Deuteronomy 21), to be nailed on an Almond Tree for blasphemy as the Messiah claimed He was YaH. He was YaH, NOT this "jesus"
HalleluYaH means "Praise YaH", that's what HalleluYaH means, NOT Hallelujesus people.
When you pray, pray to YaH, call out His Infallible, Holy and Sacred Name...
Dio is so methodical and smart with his answers. When I met him, we was the nicest guy and patient as we briefly talked metal and his career after a show in the Portland rain. He was amazing.
Apart from being a educated and really nice person Dio was also one of the best rock singers ever! He is truly missed! 🖤
100% ... I always used to say about him (when introducing others to his work) "Now he may look small, but trust me, he is massive on the inside"
Dio had a very sober and thoughtful approach to the topic. He was empathetic to other perspectives and never demonized (couldn’t resist) those with whom he disagreed. This generation could learn from him.
Loved that man with all my heart. Thank goodness he left behind an extensive catalog of incredible music to keep us all inspired.
Dude was a Warlock, sorry but what a dummy. What profit a man if gains the whole world but looses his soul. Thats for real!!!!
@@chivalrousroaminknight3566 yes I knew that and loved that Kerry was open enough to get Dio to be on his album! 🙏🙏🙏

You cant seperate religion and faith so easily and the state and their politics runs on peoples faith in said system. Faith is a belief in the integrity or trueness of a certain thing or person. People often limit the term genuis to Physicists, geneticists, philosophers, and the occasional painter but I feel like musicians should be included - RJD being one of them. His technicality singing, painting audio canvases, his lyrics that were poetry, and his ability to bring the other members together to ensure that it was about the end product: a song, was pure genius.
Yeah! Also they are not only being extreme, they are being truly evil.

Love and respect to Mr. Ronnie James Dio. Rest in peace God Bless you and we certainly need more people like you in this world!
Love easy nonsense
Dio was a true artist. He was intellectual and visionary and his music lives on like the greats.
Greatest voice in metal. R.I.P.
Definitely has the best voice
I call it a tie between Sir Ronnie and Halford.
One of, yes. Still got a soft spot for ol Oz tho...
I was blessed enough to have met him and he was without a doubt one of the kindest people I have ever met. he is truly missed.
Blessed by what primate?
@@matimus100 asshole in every group.
If life and death are a cycle, I can't wait to see him again.
Like he says: Heaven and hell are here on Earth and in each and every one of us. And a lot of his performances are to be found on RUclips and his music will be around for the rest of humanity's time. But yeah, I wish he was still around and I could see him perform a few more times. (Sadly saw him only twice - on the other hand, luckily I saw him perform twice.)
lolllllll, agree
hes gonna show up in 200 years and knock our socks off
The spirit Ronnie had - was priceless. 😏
YES!! So True!!!!
Thank you for this interview. As a lifelong fan of Ronnie James Dio, these are the questions I was always hoping he would answer.
Dio opened my eyes to the ways of religion and the details about good and evil, I appreciate him, I miss him and I love him.
I love the way Dio thinks. He was Intelligent, Humble and truly the Greatest Metal musician ever.
He created some of the best, if not the best Metal music out there.
Rest in Peace Ronnie James Dio, Father of Metal
Love from chad
Great interview, I really appreciated Ronnies lyrics on some of his songs. He kept it real to himself and portrayed what he believed and who he was. He answered the questions really well.
9:46 "but we don't really know what the devils doing, we dont know whats happening where he's hanging out" *bell tolls ominously in the background*
Great timing.
Yessss....
No coincidence...
First I cudnt believe it.i love the sound of church bells... Thought my mind played trick on me... But I listened back.. And yup...
💜😇✝️🙏
Imo Ronnie was inspired by higher things....maybe even the holy spirit spoke thru him?
Anyways. For those who understand his music Ronnie never seems "satanic". Opposite..
And the \m/ is not a devil sign at all.... His g'ma taught him to use it to scare the devil away....
Thank u for mentioning the bells.. Have a blessed Sunday....
So good to see that more pple still like his music Nowadays
Ronnie lives on. I m prty sure about that....
Hells bells btw Satan is real
This was an amazing interview, so much wisdom from this person.
I could listen to this guy talk all day long! He had this analytical almost philosophical gift for explaining things! Not to mention of course, singing and writing songs!!!
One of the greatest vocalists to ever live!!!!
We miss you Ronnie, neither you or your voice or your message will ever be forgotten. You changed the world and will never be forgotten and always live in our hearts and minds.
Ronnie was a real thinker...a very intelligent, great, and talented guy. RIP Ronnie...you will always be missed...but your great music and the great things you have done will live on and be remembered forever...
Wonderful interview. It's refreshing to know that he was so open minded and down to earth. R.I.P. Ronnie.
I think CATHOLICISM ruins people when I left CATHOLICISM and embraced Christ, I realized that it's not what I can do but what Jesus has done for me, as an ex metalhead it did have a darkness to it,
in my life, music can have both an evil effect or a good effect, today I listen to Christian music and read the word of God,
I still have my tattoos and long hair but now I preach the gospel to those who are lost. Faith is about putting your tust in Jesus.
religion is putting your faith in a system of rituals, and works of an INSTITUTIONALIZED ideology.
Jesus is freedom from religion into a relationship with him.
be blessed

@@nonameyet9165 Ditto to the amen!
Thats right!
You can have jesus, and listen to your metal too.

the music industry is owned by satanist, even most christian music is not christian,
musicians get caught up in the money and eventually surrender to this SATANIC industry and I'm sure musicians didnt start off wanting to worship satan, they love making music but the industry will destroy them eventually, I'm a drummer. I've been around this stuff. satan own the music industry and he's very real, I'll leave it at that. theres many talented bands out there
and every so often I'll listen to them.
but remember the industry calls the shots on everything from lyrics to album covers.
be blessed
P S the only way to hell is NOT BELIEVING IN JESUS, that's pretty much the UNPARDONABLE sin, rejecting the conviction of the holy spirit that you need a savior because we are all sinners condemned to hell.
theres forces of darkness and principalities of wickedness, powers so evil, I've been there
dude, its freaking evil , be careful
In loving spirit My friend
Just began listening to dio a few months back. One of the greatest decisions of my life.
Ronnie the greatest metal singer ever and the nicest man ever . We lost him too soon Rip Ronnie
My heart still breaks with Ronnie gone.
"Sleep with the devil and then you must pay..."(Gates of Babylon). RJD has warned us all..RIP Ronnie.
It’s a very simple concept that even atheists realize, that if you need with bad/evil you’ll end up getting bad consequences and karma. So that warning he gave was good because it was accessible to anyone, really
@@EphemeralProductions why atheists realize that? Because Churchs teachings for 2000 years based on Jesus teachings his apostols
How intelligent and humble was this legendary beautiful man!
He will live forever cause his music and voice find way to new generations over and over again
I remember in middle school we could skip class if we went to a presentation about how heavy metal was devil worship. They mentioned Dio so naturally I ran out & bought their CD!! Been a fan ever since 😊
Julie M it’s bullshit because his signature move, metal horns is supposed to ward off evil spirits
Julie M lol
It took this interview for me to find out that he wasn't a devil worshiper lol.
Now I'm finally going to listen to his music
"Ride the tiger, you can see his stripes but you know he's clean."

After watching this interview I would have so wanted to meet and have a long conversation with Mr Dio.. A legend.. RIP
This Has to be one of the best if not the best metal interview ever hands-down
Thank you for sharing that wonderful content from Mr. Dio. It was delightful ,informative, and inspiring.just outstanding.
I would have paid whatever to go to one of your shows.
dude I seen Dio lots of times he was the best singer ever he sang with such emotion that you felt them in his songs all the time
Gaelan Kaspar the stories fans would tell still mesmerize me. How he would stay to the very end to make sure he met everyone and would talk to you as long as you liked and made sure you had a good time that was a man of the people.
I mostly learned about dio after his death too.
He gets a HUGE SMILE and says “first on the set list 😁”
He made me realize why I love this business.
RIP
Ronnie RJD
Just for shits and giggles. 30+ years later while messing around jamming with a friend.

yes, like u i actually re-discovered him. used to listen to rainbow and black sabbath when i was a kid, but always thought it was ozzy. then i recently started listening to it again. and i wish i had gone to 1 of his concerts. or at least met him when he was alive.
RJD could have been a college prof on a number of subjects. Saw him live in '86 with Dokken in Oakland. Great show. RIP
What a lovely guy inside and out he was! Talented, intelligent, classy and a real sweet heart. I pray someday I get to meet him again in the new world. RIP Ronnie! We all miss you terribly! 🤎
