I really gotta agree with you dude. I'm sure trainers have their down-days and still have to earn a living. LA is fucking brutal. The dude seems like a good person, just trying to make it, and make sense of it, in the constraints of a capitalist society.
and I mean, it could be that he mistreated some customers or had a problem with the dishes because no one is perfect but what matters is that he's willing to change and improve and that makes him better than the other 1 star review businesses
This place actually has a 4.9/5 rating on google, with just a few bad reviews. He seems like a nice guy trying to run a good business. Good luck to him.
i think its less about the number of one star reviews and more about how weird the business owner is according to the one star reviews. like if you just went to a place that only had one star reviews itd just be a shithole ripoff and there wouldnt be any funny or cringy moments.
I actually went and visit him. He's actually really sweet and kind. I think a lot of people take him as over ego and stuff, but I never got that. He's tells you what you shouldn't do and do when it comes to your health. You know some people don't like what you tell them to do etc. Being a trainer is always a rocky position due to you sometimes having to tell that person no.
I've dealt with this personality (the reviewers) multiple times while being a coach. Gabriel is right when he says a lot of people don't want to help themselves. They're quick to pass the buck and place the blame on anyone besides themselves. All you can do is try to stay positive and show them you're their ally in their journey.

I've never once in my life thought about hiring a personal trainer but I kinda like this guy. He's a good motivator. I agree with him on the "people don't want to be pushed" thing. This dude tried to push them and they just got offended instead of actually trying
Gabriel is a 1st class PT, super professional and 100% committed to his clients, one of the hardest working guys I know. I was 10 kilos overweight and couldn't run for the bus… in 24 months he had me ready for a triathlon, without any stresses or stains. World class coach. It’s a shame that we live in a world where entertainment is attempting to destroy someone else’s passion. But hey, it’s all good, Gabriel has my business for as long as he wants it.
It’s really sad that there are people out there that get their kicks from ruining someone’s business, life, career, passion, or anything important to that person. Folks will do that to both people they know and don’t know and will do it even if there is no good reason for it, I’ve found that it’s often jealousy but I’m noticing a trend lately where people often times don’t see others as actual people with dreams, goals, emotions, or feelings. Many assholes out there can’t even consider anything beyond themselves and will ruin something for someone just for fun, it’s a fucked up world we live in.😔
There's no way those reviews are legit. He couldn't continue running a gym that size in Miami, even paying a barista, if those reviews were accurate. He's got plenty of clients. I am not even sure he realizes it's likely one or a handful of persons.
Yep, private gym at that. You need to be actually charging a lot and having a lot of customers too to sustain that kind of business. And obviously service and training need to be really good as well since people would expect that.
He had 3 bad reviews out of 4 on YELP. He’s got a 5 star rating on google with over 90 reviews. This business is very successful. Seems fishy. Probably his friend and giving him free publicity.
@@Adam-mw5qd That’s true he was only going by Yelp. It’s not hard to fake 3 reviews. Out of all the businesses out there you’d think Vice would choose an actual one star reviewed business with lots of reviews. This business is already successful. Currently with 122 google reviews with a perfect 5 star rating. That’s very rare for any business. So why choose to ‘help’ this guy? Sounds dodgy to me.
This guy isn't awkward I hate it when people say that HES NORMAL it's everybody else that's fucking insane! society and civil human behavior holds itself together by a thread don't forget that
Honestly if I lived in Miami I would train with him… dude seems chill as hell, and he’s right people don’t want to work for nothing… they see greatness and thinks it just “happens”… they look at the end result of things and then get discouraged with the process… one must fall in love with the process in order to find yourself in the result. And I love his way of talking about “internal demons” as it is something that plagues everyone even in the simplest of choices…. I love what Jordan Peterson says… “become a beast and then learn how to tame it”… it is just simply know your potential and then discipline yourself to get it… This dude is amazing, and I hope he prospers.
His monster concept reminds me of Carl Jung’s “Shadow self” concept. I couldn’t help but smile when he was explaining “his monster”. That notion had helped me tremendously in early adulthood

Lmfaoooo. This is one of the best episodes so far, not only the ending, but the passion and authenticity of this personal trainer. Good job Gabriel, keep going brother ❤️
Gabriel seems like such a genuinely nice guy and has a great outlook on fitness. I suspect many of the negative reviews were from people who simply didn't like being told to push through the pain at the gym.
@classic max I think you totally missed the other guy's point. As for your comments about how hard to push, if you don't push yourself- you don't grow. It's a simple as that. Going through the motions with minimal effort is a waste of time. These are the people you see who go to gym and never seem to get anywhere. You have to put the effort in
@classic max he means muscular failure. Most people don’t want to push their muscles to failure, which is why they don’t see results. You should feel a burn, but it shouldn’t be a sharp pain. There’s a difference and you’ll feel it.
@classic max ?????? training to muscle failure is literally the best way to build strength and increase your endurance. yeah you shouldn't do it every session but it's definitely something you gotta do if you truly want to grow so stop coping and put some actual work you bot
dang, this was wholesome AF. Didn;t know this show existed. For the record, his monster analogy on fitness is interesting and the fact it had to do with his grandfather made it more significant.

really love the "monster" concept, a simple version of other things i've heard. I've heard it called "the governor" by David Goggins, "demons" by Big Sean and so many other people, and this analogy is surprisingly simple but easy to grasp. much much easier to visualize what's holding you back as a silly monster that doesn't know what it's talking about.
"When you want to help somebody but they don't even want to help themselves". This dude got me, he's training style is not what I like but looks like a wholesome guy.
I can guarantee you he had an opportunity to explain more about the "monster" so he doesn't look crazy, they just didn't put that into the final cut. I see where he's going with it and it's not a bad philosophy.
Did we watch the same video? He clearly explained the monster is the feeling inside of you that wants you to make bad decisions i.e. stop when things get hard, eat unhealthy, be lazy...thought it was pretty clear what the monster was.
I liked it better when he explained where the concept came from. Still weird, but it made more sense knowing there was some loss and probably trauma involved.
As someone who's had difficulty exercising, one thing that's gotten me to push myself is giving thanks. I had a scare a while back, which made me reflect on those who lose limbs, organs, senses, and the ability to move. Our body is a gift, and just like you don't break a gift in front of the one who gave it to you, I wouldn't wanna face God as I am right now. Some people can't get all the gifts, yet they're still grateful and kind, and others get it taken away. I'm grateful my unhealthiness is entirely in my hand.
This guy seems legit. I'm assuming the issue would be his clients who don't want to push or motivate themselves. And most probably crying because he was honest!
I don't really get people's complaints about the sink, in a developing country which I'm sure he's from cause I am from one, you gotta make do with what you've got. Let the man wash his dishes wherever he damn pleases
Just finished bingeing all the episodes and just realised this one was released today! Love you Taji and love everyone behind the camera and in the editing room helping put these wholesome masterpieces together.

Jealousy is real...so glad you gave him 5 stars..I read his spirit...good man and I hope his grandfather is looking out for him and his business will grow!!
The coffee at the beginning is smart, much better for you long term than pre-workout and sets him apart. When I was training my buddies and I would try to get people to switch to black coffee or caffine pills instead. I ran into a lot of people that didnt want to push themselves while training, they just wanted someone there to tell them good job after doing the minimum.

@@anthonyriche552 It is. If you go to the Yelp page. There are 3 bad reviews. 1 appears from the actual person, 1 is a friend of the person ( you can see they're friends on yelp), and the 3rd is clearly a new account posting the review.
Of course, he’s gonna put his best foot forward when he’s being filmed. But I can also see one-time clients giving bad reviews for whatever reason (jealousy, racism, lack of motivation).
Aww I felt so bad when he started bringing up people's bad reviews of him! I am a personal trainer myself and that would be so heartbreaking to hear 😭 This guy had obviously been trying to improve and be a better trainer and he seems to be doing pretty dang well!
I love the mentality and the philosophy as well, it’s the same thing with nutrition. My AS was in the field and every time I receive questions people hate the raw answers. To lose weight and gain muscle takes time, practice, patience and attentiveness
Loved hearing that the city came in and did an inspection after someone saw the reviews and complained, and what do you know, Gabriel passed with no problems at all.
I would work with this guy in a heartbeat, and then leave a 5 star review for my man. Love his philosophy, and his motivation behind everything. The bathrooms being super clean alone sell me lol.
It takes two to tango. From my experience of working in retail for a few decades. Many people are rude and don’t realise they are. Or behave in a manner that would bring the worst out in the most patient person. As far as dealing with service, I would be inclined to check the situation out myself. You can usually get the feel of a place in a short time.
He is a great guy I worked out with him few times I don’t know what people talking about to tell you the truth. I’m shocked to see this about him. I know this gotta be hurtful to him. He been always been nothing but sweet to me and others from what I seen.
I worked out their once he beat my muscles with a 5Lb ''funbell'' (as he called it), to elicit more soreness in them and help them ''get big'', I complained and he punched me in the mouth.
Gabriel seems like someone I would want to go to. He's understanding (like when you tell him about candy), pushes you to continue, and listens to what you are trying to accomplish. Yeah, maybe he's a bit defensive about stuff, but that came off more as a cultural trait more than defensive about the comments, and him defending what he's worked hard to build up. His expertise is in motivation, not PR. Hope Gabriel has a successful career!
@@malcolmwiggins7026 That's a fair point. I guess I was expecting more of a.. I really gotta agree with you dude. I'm sure trainers have their down-days and still have to earn a living. LA is fucking brutal. The dude seems like a good person, just trying to make it, and make sense of it, in the constraints of a capitalist society.
Nah this guy seems passionate about what he does. He's doing everything he can with what he has. Hope he's still chasing his dream
and I mean, it could be that he mistreated some customers or had a problem with the dishes because no one is perfect but what matters is that he's willing to change and improve and that makes him better than the other 1 star review businesses
As a trainer myself i would be honoured to be trained by this guy, love his energy!
This place actually has a 4.9/5 rating on google, with just a few bad reviews. He seems like a nice guy trying to run a good business. Good luck to him.
And he actually has the physique to prove, Ive seen alot of person trainers who dont.
i think its less about the number of one star reviews and more about how weird the business owner is according to the one star reviews. like if you just went to a place that only had one star reviews itd just be a shithole ripoff and there wouldnt be any funny or cringy moments.
Aww I’m glad cause I felt sorry for him. Dude looks like he’s trying, hoping things stay good for him!

He is Brazilian and confident and happy.... Americans love to see everyone miserable (professional).
I've dealt with this personality (the reviewers) multiple times while being a coach. Gabriel is right when he says a lot of people don't want to help themselves. They're quick to pass the buck and place the blame on anyone besides themselves. All you can do is try to stay positive and show them you're their ally in their journey.
same bro I always ease people into it now bc even a basic 5x5 program will make these snowflakes puke
@@gainsandglory6808 5x5 programs can make even experienced lifters puke if the weight is heavy enough, but yeah I agree. Fitness "media" has people expecting 30 day beach bodies and other unrealistic bs.

Just remember they stole this idea from a small content creator by the name of Philip solo. He did a couple one star reviews on restaurants and blew up from it then shortly after Vice came out with a whole series on one starred reviews.

I've never once in my life thought about hiring a personal trainer but I kinda like this guy. He's a good motivator. I agree with him on the "people don't want to be pushed" thing. This dude tried to push them and they just got offended instead of actually trying
Now Taji is strong enough to keep carrying Vice on his back for a long time to come.

24 months is enough for almost anything, but hey, they are not magicians. Keeping one on track for 24 months is the key. So that must be his magic.

I love that 1 star reviews is actually an avenue for businesses to get a 2nd chance on the internet. Good things come back around to good people
He had 3 bad reviews out of 4 on YELP. He’s got a 5 star rating on google with over 90 reviews. This business is very successful. Seems fishy. Probably his friend and giving him free publicity.
@@Cassie_-rw9ik well, it seems in the video he was only looking on yelp
@@Adam-mw5qd That’s true he was only going by Yelp. It’s not hard to fake 3 reviews.
I love what Jordan Peterson says… “become a beast and then learn how to tame it”… it is just simply know your potential and then discipline yourself to get it…
This dude is amazing, and I hope he prospers.

You have to put the effort in
@classic max Man has 0 social skills. Read the room. Take context clues… you’re either willfully ignorant or love to waste time on RUclips comments
@classic max I truly feel bad about you and your mindset. Please seek help because what you are suffering from is a beta mindset. Prayers to you! :)

really love the "monster" concept, a simple version of other things i've heard. I've heard it called "the governor" by David Goggins, "demons" by Big Sean and so many other people, and this analogy is surprisingly simple but easy to grasp. much much easier to visualize what's holding you back as a silly monster that doesn't know what it's talking about.
