- Taji has always been aware of the fact that this hosting gig kind of just landed on his lap. After two seasons of One Star Reviews, he’s curious to see what else is out there for him in the entertainment space. So, for the last time this season, Taji pulled up Yelp to search for a talent agency.
Instead he found an “Un-Agency”, a group that says they cater to the people that most agencies ignore.
This is one of the most scathingly reviewed business we have dealt with in One Star history. Their reputation goes beyond Yelp: they have a D- rating on the Better Business Bureau, with 90 complaints, and Glassdoor where alleged former employees have also written negative reviews.
On top of this, many disgruntled members of the Un-Agency have taken to RUclips to vent their frustrations and leave video reviews. Many of them are accusing the Un-Agency of scamming them.
So, armed with a credit card, some free time, an open mind, and three looks, Taji goes off to take a shot at fame!

I grew up in L.A. and had an agent from 6 years old until I was 15. I even did an apple juice commercial. No one needs to pay anything up front to have an agent. You don't need to pay a fee up front, or a monthly fee, or have to take classes...unless you want to take classes on your own somewhere else. You don't have to pay for auditions. You can come in with a regular photo of yourself. Yes, professional headshots should be done at some point, and can be quite pricey, and the agent might suggest their favorite photographer to you, but you never pay the agent as some sort of package deal. This is absolutely a scam. If an agent likes you...you pay nothing and they try to get you work. If you succeed they get a percentage. Period. Hope this helps someone.
The majority of people doing this aren't people a talent agency is going to scout, sure every once in a while Shrek needs to be casted for live action, but the large majority of the time the people signing up for an agency that takes anyone in are talentless or well..... Shrek

The thing they don't seem to realize is that Taji is actually an incredibly talented performer who is actively turning on and off this specific character and working it like a master. He's probably one of the best actors they've ever had come through their doors, and yet they're trying to play him like a chump. It's amazing. This guy could very well be the Nathan Fielder or Sacha Baron Cohen of the 2020's. This series is the best thing Vice has ever done.

The ongoing trouble with the weirdly crossed arms.. I sure hope this becomes a recurring gag on this series. This is only my third video in OSR but I love it already. Taji's acting (he has to be acting - no one that awkward is also that naturally funny and confident on camera) + the awesome editing makes this whole thing.

I actually used this company and it was just a total rip off. I got access to the database but most of the auditions in that required to go through another agency. So it was a waste of time to even sign up with that company!!!

I literally JUST got off of a zoom call with these people and tell me why right off the bat even the zoom call was suspicious as hell.
I stuck to what I’ve been told before about agencies not paying upfront and decided to wait on signing up with them because, as you might guess, they were asking for a reduced price of $99 upfront.
When I asked the lady quote “how soon do you need us to register with you guys” after she had just sent the link to their site, she told me that she’d prefer that I do it right then and there “while we have you on the call.” 🙄
As I do with any talent agency, after getting a chance to meet with them in person, I then try to look them up for as much information as I can find until I stumbled upon this gem of an artwork.
To all my like-minded model and acting seekers, stay safe out there, do your research, and NEVER PAY UPFRONT FEES
Same. The zoom call wasn;t even fave to face, so that tells you something. I am still skeptical, so I haven't paid a single penny for their application.
You walked in with a professional camera and camera man filming you, of course she is going to put on her best act and do anything she can to make it look like a legitimate company. If she had not known that she was being filmed then your experience would have been much different. The only real photographs a "clients" takes are the ones she photographs herself. You really think that she shuts down the office in the middle of the day, to take a "client" on a 40 minute car ride so they can get professionally photographed at that very moment? No, she only did that that because she knew she was being filmed.
You should use spy cameras and blur out the faces of people. Then you would get an honest experience and an accurate review of the company. People show who they really are when they think no one's watching.

(Acting/Modeling) Agencies make a percentage off of gigs they book on your behalf. They do NOT get money up front. I repeat: AGENCIES DONT GET PAID UPFRONT! If they’re asking to get paid before you get paid, it’s a dead giveaway they’re a scam. Stay safe and keep those pockets swole, friends!

I wonder why it's considered acceptable to insult people for their height, when it's no more choice than a person's natural skin color. Also being taller than average increases the risk of a lot of diseases and is generally correlated to shorter lifespan, so why do people so often think short people are the ones with "bad genes"?

There's a reason why they don't actually refer to themselves as an "agency". I went because they posted about casting for a Robert de Niro movie in Philly so I went. They sat us down to wait for the manager to give her speech and, despite the "auditioners" being 80% Black, they showed the world's whitest movie, The Devil Wears Prada. Then they met with everyone one by one, I showed them my headshots, they said they sucked but I could get my own for $499 and they just so happened to have a photographer right there and all I had to do was give them my credit card. When I told them I didn't have it on me (which I did), they said I could come back next week and take care of it. I called later to tell them that I wouldn't be able to make it and the receptionist said, "Good luck in Philly" and hung up on me.
So yeah...it's a scam. They work VERY hard to dodge legal liability.
