Never seen a video that really gets into that split second reaction with the elbow and hand for creating the revs for those extreme entry angles. Mr. Coffey thank you so much!
this is so bloody simply explained that you can practice in time with the slow motion and feel the different parts of what Mr. Coffey is talking about... can literally record yourself and compare to the the slow motion examples... thank you a thousand times... and now for a thousand practice swings! hahahah
That slo-mo release at the end of the video is one of the best on RUclips. You can really see the thumb coming out and the fingers pulling through the ball. Thanks man... maybe I’ll get it.
I always rolled the ball with a "pendulum" swing (arm completely straight right through release), and I've always struggled with getting the ball to hook on the back end. I don't know why it never occurred to me to bend my elbow, but as soon as I started, I began SLAMMING the pocket! The elbow bend also helps me keep my wrist slightly cupped, whereas before I had trouble with my wrist breaking on my backswing and through my release. Such a simple change, but what a huge difference. Great tip! Many thanks!
By far one of the best instructional videos I’ve seen thus far - if not the best. You hear people all the time saying it’s like releasing a yo-yo... well that’s kind of hard to grasp with a 16Lbs ball instead of a yo-yo lol. Your video explains it perfectly! Thanks!!
That was very informative. The way you broke in down in slow motion was great. I started bowling in 1959 but never really leaned the basics other than what I was able to figure out myself. Thanks for the lesson
Ive always been a 2 finger bowler only used my thumb on a 10 pin sometimes. Just recently started trying to use my thumb. Hurt it a couple weeks ago think i was getting to much on top or something but this video helped alot. Thanks.
Wow 🤩 this is amazing!!! The best slow motion video ever seen !!! My story, I’m a 51 y/o in July 13,2024, stared at bowling 🎳 last year as a 50 y/o things. Right one hand bowler that can’t curve a ball 😢 Watched a video of making your fingers going in side the ball and developed a back up ball motion ( for the last six or seven months that was my game) With this video I could correct my ball motion to go straight but can’t curve the ball right to left 😢and when tried to lift the fingers my middle finger It hurts a lot on the sides next to my first joint. Did I’m doing something wrong?? And some time I can curve the ball but must of the time it goes straight 😢 Please 🙏 help!!!
Uber talented kid. If u think this video is good, you should see him bowl. Keep bowling my man. You have what it takes. Hopefully the money out there will increase enough that it's worth chasing.
Great videos. Question: I am constantly in between squeezing because I feel like I'm going to drop the ball on the backswing vs. that one extra piece of tape making me lock up at the foul line to where the thumb gets out way late. H E L P!
sportsfntc squeeze on the back swing but once it start going forward that’s when you relaxed and if your wrist is in a cupped position it should feel like the ball is resting on your finger and won’t fall off
I tried helping someone understand how to curve a ball, and I gave him some simple stuff to try but I always saw his elbow flat in line. Next time I see him I should help him with footwork
this video is great. the only thing i personally dont agree with is having to keep your elbow bent through the entire back swing. tons of pros and amateurs who have a straight elbow in the back and first half of down swing
When you get to last step, I missed the slide of the foot to feed the ball into the lane. You just plant the opposite foot from bowling arm. So how can you get flat spot in the swing that way, plant and fire?
What should my Forefinger and pinky finger positions be? Nice video by the way. Need all the help I can get to beat my brother on a consistent basis (Good Ole family rivalry).
That was very informative but doesn't really apply to bowlers life myself. What I mean by this is that I don't use a thumb, ever. So with that said, what would your advise be for bowlers like myself?
Cupped wrist, keep hand under ball, higher backswing (if possible). Usually the faster you uncup your wrist at the bottom of swing the better. Some might benefit from generating more power by putting more emphasis on their leg work, ie: timing, hop step, speed etc. Also axis tilt/rotation can give the illusion of more/less hook depending on how you bowl. Generally I would focus more on accuracy and control for myself, extra hitting power is just a bonus 👍🏼
Great video. I did what you said and my rev rate is still in the low 400s. How do I make it in the upper 500s like all these kids are doing these days? I'm only 40, I"m not that old.
Thank you for the info! I am struggling to see the bent elbow in your slowmo demonstration and am wondering HOW important it is in the end. (Total noob here - no criticism)

No problem, Thank you for the support
One of the best bowling tutorials of all time!
(been bowling over 30 years too)
Agree!
Thank you for this helpful video. I just fell in love with bowling at the old age of 47. I’m looking for all the help I can get.
I'm 42 and just now getting into bowling myself
Best video yet on the hand positions. Most other experts miss the basic details.

Excellent description. One of the best I’ve come across so far.
That was very informative. The way you broke in down in slow motion was great. I started bowling in 1959 but never really leaned the basics other than what I was able to figure out myself. Thanks for the lesson

Thank you for all of your support. I am going to keep working hard
Thank you for all of the support
This was extremely helpful, I injured my hand and wrist and lost my feeling for my release. The slow motion was a great idea
Glad i could help!

When exactly does the thumb come out of the ball? After the final position of the hand is reached?
howard Wu when the ball is start to swing like near ur waist
do you put more pressure on the ball with index finger?
I tried helping someone understand how to curve a ball, and I gave him some simple stuff to try but I always saw his elbow flat in line. Next time I see him I should help him with footwork

Good information.
With yo yo release, does it make spinner or semi roller track on bowling ball. if I use yo yo release my ball works SPINNER.
I thought this was about drilling holes, lol. Wow, you stand on the 35th board and throw it over the middle arrow.
Great video
Thank you for the support

i know Im kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch new movies online?
What finger pitches do you use?
That lady with the green ball keeps freaking me out!
Really helpful. Thank you. I'm trying to do the same thing you're doing at 1:13 but I'm having trouble. Any advice on how to do that?
On an earlier video you talked about lift. Seems a lot different then what you are talking about here. Is this the release you learned at KTC?
What should my Forefinger and pinky finger positions be? Nice video by the way. Need all the help I can get to beat my brother on a consistent basis (Good Ole family rivalry).
@Marian Kotúč Thank you I will try it. Probably need to use a lighter ball.
Why do you tuck in your pinky like that? Is that normal?
When I bowl it rolls over the holes. What am I doing wrong?
What the weight of your bowling ball?
Tqs
Super helpful, straight on point, thank you !
Bookmarking. Very clear and simple.
What is the name of the song?? @1:03
That was very informative but doesn't really apply to bowlers life myself. What I mean by this is that I don't use a thumb, ever. So with that said, what would your advise be for bowlers like myself?
Samuel Kraft - as a no thumber you probably don’t need to increase your rev rate
Cupped wrist, keep hand under ball, higher backswing (if possible). Usually the faster you uncup your wrist at the bottom of swing the better. Some might benefit from generating more power by putting more emphasis on their leg work, ie: timing, hop step, speed etc.

Its a slight bend of the elbow. Its like loading up on the ball. Increasing rev rate is very difficult to do keep at it!
Thank you for the info! I am struggling to see the bent elbow in your slowmo demonstration and am wondering HOW important it is in the end. (Total noob here - no criticism)
@Marian Kotúč thank you for taking the time to answer my question 🙂👍
I bowl at vero wild lol
mix oil and pattern names pros leges
OFSET DRİLL?
old type ball
That sucked to see you have that equipment failure at Lane Glo.
Chode thumb
Like I said before house shot videos make people better than they really are
Your shop looks like a garage sale gone bad
I'm not the owner just a worker but it was difficult in only a 5 by 5 space
😂😂😂😂 most can't get hand under bowl. So say fingers. How you should bent elbow. But release drill your elbow str8? 🤔🤔🤔
You would not need all the stress of staying under the ball and bent elbow if you bowled two handed. Deep down in your heart you know that
Weak.
