    Mitch is the GOAT! Easily one of the most enjoyable swings to watch in bowling.

    Thank you Mitch for sharing your drills for increasing your rev-rate. I hate to call it a secret, because it's not a secret anymore; we just have to put in the work.

    That’s probably the best video on this I’ve seen. GREAT production value too.

    Dedication goes a long way. I practiced a lot at home throwing the ball into a dog cushion. Within 8 months I had it and I only knew because the people in my league were saying it looks so effortless to you like EJ Tackett power but Mitch Hupe smoothness. Best compliment to keep going. Work hard and you'll get the results

    This is the best explanation and demonstration of this type of release. One question or observation, it appears the wrist goes back in an "broken" state, and then cups, uncups in one motion. As opposed to starting cupped. Did I get that right?

    One important concept that isn’t talked about is grip pressure AT RELEASE. Grip pressure at release is the enemy of rev rate. So your fit has to be good enough that when you go to release the ball you aren’t squeezing it so that thumb exits first and then fingers can quickly rotate the ball

    I also feel like outside of bowling practice and tips, I think working out and creating more forearm and wrist strength will most definitely help you in a short amount of time. If you wanna be able to throw just like Mitch, Prather, Tackett, Jones, Bj Moore, you need to develop some strength in those arms. My first 1-2 years of bowling, I started off one handed right handed without thumb and then left handed 2 handed and I’d say overtime it was just make and break of absolute shit performances. I stopped bowling often and started working out in between my bowling and it helped me so much. Not just only my arm strength but also upper body and legs. If you don’t have a strong and balanced form at your release, it will be hard to repeat shots. I’m only 5’8 140-150 so I’m not the biggest but I’m strong enough to withstand 3-10 games, I feel good and confident in between shots. It’s 2024 guys it doesn’t matter where your at life, get in the gym or simply do some at home workouts. It’s not hard to workout, it’s time for everyone to get stronger.

      @lockedonlaw 3 месяца назад +3

      If you need to work your upper body, you are doing it wrong. All the speed and power should come from the lower body. If it comes from the upper body, you are muscling the shot, which means you are going to be inconsistent.

      It's moreso technique than it is strength. EJ was a 120lb twig when he first came on tour and he still had 450-500rpm.

    • @tkal3881
      @tkal3881 3 месяца назад +1

      Agree, working out helps. You don’t have to be the strongest person but having decent forearm strength helps.

    I am working hard at this, but I am wondering about my thumb hole fit. Should I be able to move my thumb around at the tip inside the ball? Should I be able to bend my thumb forward at the first knuckle? This is the whole ball game to me!

    He seems to be straight at the elbow which is to me less hurting to the elbow. But he bend the wrist only at the bottom of the swing. Wondering is is better to bend the wrist from the highest swing until the bottom of the swing?

    • @xPandora__
      @xPandora__ 3 месяца назад +1

      You want to try to have your hand as underneath the ball as you can before you release the ball onto the lane, The same drills apply as a 2 hander yet you probably want to do your full swing then 1 step release.

      If consciously trying to walk to the left during your approach isn't working, then in my experience the only thing that will stop you from drifting the other way is to put some physical "obstacle" on the approach near the foul line that you're then forced to avoid...a piece of colored painters tape, a ruler... anything that you have to deliberately avoid stepping on. Just don't pick something big and bulky that you can trip over and hurt yourself. Place it one board right of wherever you want your slide foot to end up. Don't worry about where the ball goes. Just focus on having a target for your slide foot, and gradually you'll get used to what walking up in a straight line feels like. Won't happen overnight...

    The one thing that I see a lot of when amateurs try to copy professional releases is they cannot get their thumb out of the ball.

    • @ripvanrevs

      Why I START with my thumb out of the ball! Increased my rev rate by over 200.

    • @sonofnothing
      @sonofnothing 3 месяца назад

      Yep when I try one step drills, I get stuck in the ball and launch it 8 feet in the air. I don't understand. I just got a new fit and and working with a much tighter thumb (top to bottom) which is ovaled. I have black tape inside, and I use motiv quick release tape on the back of my thumb. I can get the ball off cleanly at home, but when I'm on the lanes my nerves get to me. I don't trust it. So I claw it or something. It's very frustrating.
