I'm a commercial Glazier in Minnesota. I've done many extruded and clad aluminum and glass entrances. Banks ,hotels, malls and homes. This entire project from creation to install was flawless. You glazed the resin panels to the door with butyl tape. Maybe 3M double faced foam tape would have been a consideration? And I would put a bead of silicon on the panel to wood interface bit I'm not 100% sure it's a must. I could not have set the frame better myself your man did it how I would have. My God, it's just absolutely beautiful!! I am beyond impressed gentlemen!!
Thank You Iron Myno. Our procedures are not unfounded. I have been a door maker since I was 18... That gives us a huge frame of reference to draw from. This is the best way to do this. We would have used the double sided foam tape that we use on all of our straight panels, but it was far easier to manipulate the butyl into the shapes we needed. I have been doing wood panels with the tape for like 15 years and butyl on the glass since day 1. Almost every one else clamps the panel into the door when they assemble... Our way allows us to completely finish the opening and all surfaces of panels prior to final installation. It made sense to apply the same principals to a resin panel. And then there are still the dowel doubter's...
Watching along and get to 4:00 see the poor kid in the red shirt and the look of inner pain, embarrassment and belittlement as the guy in the black forest shirt yanks the glue brush out of his hands, while he was trying to help, like he didn't even exist. Then backing it up to confirm what I saw. Then realizing that I'm not the only one that caught it because the view-graph shows it as one of the top most replayed segments... I don't know who you are buddy, but YOU are worthy and I respect you.
I sometimes can't figure out how these projects get so expensive but when seeing how much time and the finished project turns I get it. Beautiful work guys
YOU REALIZE.....Just like the tables, you've created a new trend!! Now everyone doing tables will have to try doors. WELL done. So absolutely stunning in every way. The luminous colours in the epoxy, finished off the look.... a sublime masterpiece.
Gorgeous! So many woodworkers & contractors do NOT even know about T-bars to secure a 2-part door! It’s such a joy to even watch conscientious makers doing really good, artisan-quality detailed work!
That is the most stunning door I have ever seen!! You guys are the best in the field!!! You have an excellent crew. This video could be used as a training video for those starting out. Seeing this makes me wish I weren't so old and just starting out in wood working.
Ooooh... Would have LOVED to see a "night time" viewing of the doors... With the light shining through it, it would have been even MORE Spectacular.!.!.!.!
Holy cow! You guys always impress. I'm actually jaw-dropped at how beautiful that door is - I think the scenic landscape reflection gives it that chef's kiss. Unbelievable work!!
This looks amazing. How will the resin hold up to the sun, though? Also, how do you make sure it doesn't start yellowing? Just curious. It's a beautiful piece, but I'm wondering how long it'll last as an outside door...
You put a UV varnish on top like what they use on boats. Since it’s a door it may need to be recoated once every 5+ years. I know they also use a UV resistant epoxy on other doors they have made.
I love inventing new techniques, used to do it with stone but you made me motivated to move and try wood..acid washing, carbon brushing, glass and fire etc...love enhancing what nature gave, bringing out form and grain in stone and wood, buckles and grades, flow and stunt...it's amazing what you can do with what people consider only good for pallets and bricks.
WoW!! You all never cease to amaze me with your talents. That door is "Spectacular" and I am sure the owners of that home are going to be the envy of the neighborhood. Thank you all for sharing your wonderful talents with all of us.
One of the most beautiful doors I have seen. Really like the detailed description of the build. I think I will be using some of your ideas and products, on a smaller scale of course. Thank you guys.
Great work. Great craftsmanship. I hate resin but you guys are real pros. My first house was 161k in usd. Hard to imagine spending 1/3 of that on a door. But hey. Cool.
Abso-freakin-lutely stunning. With the sky and trees reflecting off the burl and epoxy, the ash frame, WOW. Thank you for sharing. Good grief that's beautiful.
The doors are stunning. Dylan, I never get tired of listening to you explain processes, with the skills and experience behind each product never ceasing to amaze me. Mike 🇦🇺
Wow, wow, wow!!! What a fantastic video!!! From start to finish, a masterful job completed by a talented team. Thanks for sharing your brilliant work with the rest of us. Enjoyed immensely that you showed the entire build process. GREAT job, guys!!! Please keep sharing these outstanding projects. Keep up the good work!!! Can't say enough positive things about this set of doors!!!
Thank you so much John! Our entire team absolutely knocked it our of the park on this one. We truly appreciate your continued support on our videos and cannot wait to share our future projects.
How do you plan to keep it from uv damage? I used resin outdoors and it hold up maybe for a year, considering your resin is higher quality it can last longer, but how long i am curious?
If you were listening to the whole process, which I did, they had three layers of a automotive finish and then they had their own ceramic finishes that they put on top of the epoxy that should make it last for a really really long time.
Great work as usual. I would like to thank you sincerely for your videos. You have motivated me and I have finally dared to create my own RUclips channel and upload my first videos.
That is absolutely incredible.... The CRAFTSMANSHIP is mind blowing..... Excellent work guys. You really knocked it out of the park.... Who thought of the design ? Huge tip of the hat to you all. You have a new subscriber 👍
Just what I wanted to watch first thing in the morning. Always nice to give credit where it’s do. Glad you take some of these people opinion lightly. It’s been a long time but if my memory serves me correctly and you’re the right site, there was a debate over getting the CNC or doing things by hand. I believe some thought it would ruin the spirit hand craftsmanship. If this was you I can say it was well worth it.
Thank you so much Kurt! We’ve had our CNC for a while but we did have a discussion a while ago about the use of a CNC and people’s opinions on it. We love combining traditional building techniques with new world technology.
Beautiful work. How do you keep the epoxy from yellowing over time? Won't photooxidation from UV exposure eventually consume all the stabilizer in the resin?
Wow. Gorgeous. Can you elaborate on what you mean by optimal cooling? What kind of conditions do you need to meet? Is humidity a factor as well? You guys are inspiring.
Thank you! For anything 3”-5” thick we use an aluminum table with water cooling to build our mould over. We also have the room air conditioned to 15*C. For anything thicker, we have a chilling tank where we can fully submerge our moulds in 5*C water. Alternatively, you could use a fridge too! We don’t really worry about humidity but we are in a very dry climate

That door is gorgeous. The engineering that makes it so smooth to open and close. The burl is amazing.

Holy wow! Those are some pimp doors. Also, the expression of disappointment when the brush is taken away at around 4:04 is classic, haha.
Thank you very much!!
No time to waste when gluing stuff - you only have so much time before it sets.
kkkkkkk He does that face of a disapointed child. lol

This looks amazing. How will the resin hold up to the sun, though? Also, how do you make sure it doesn't start yellowing? Just curious. It's a beautiful piece, but I'm wondering how long it'll last as an outside door...
Great question
Everything I've read says no resin is immune to UV and will eventually yellow. The question is, how soon.
@@maryfrawley4388 Yeah , this is how I ended up here. . If I'm buying a $50k door, it better not yellow while i'm alive lol
All resin turns yellow when it's exposed to prolonged periods of sun....good resin just takes longer
You put a UV varnish on top like what they use on boats. Since it’s a door it may need to be recoated once every 5+ years. I know they also use a UV resistant epoxy on other doors they have made.
