This is the longest I’ve ever traveled alone. With Owen away for work, I travel through Colorado alone. Traveling alone brings a new set of challenges to life on the road and a whole lot of extra work! Here’s a day in the life, solo edition!

OMG! I love it. Our morning routine in the van is coffee, take the cat for a walk. It's fun to start your day slow, and with a cat, you don't have much of a choice. Love seeing the casual chill vid. : ) Safe travels!

Oh we definitely know it! I always felt like my "independence" and wanting Owen around all the time were in conflict with one another, but now that we've had this time apart I don't think those things are in conflict as much. I just love him and love sharing my life with him
Fantastic! Very well done! I appreciate you sharing a day in your life with everyone. As a fellow truck camper owner, I know camping isn't always glamorous and exciting. Sometimes, the mundane parts are the best, though. Freedom is the best thing in life, though. And, as for the policeman who was rude to you, I know that he often witnesses the worst part of humanity and that it is easy to be jaded but it is SO important to remember that we all need t be kind to each other. It is far more effective. Your reaction (or lack of one) speaks volume about your state of mind and general attitude. You weren't angry and didn't respond with anger (I hope) to him and that is so cool! Illegitimi non carborundum!

I leave today for my 1 month solo overland adventure of Colorado Utah California Oregon Washington state I'm a guy with my Jack Russell and to be honest I'm nervous with that said your a total Inspiration I'm so glad to have watch this video it has totally given me the motivation to turn the ignition to an awesome adventure.... I find strength through you please know that we followers care about your safety at this time of being alone so please keep us updated on your wellbeing :D

Highya! I appreciate your shout out to solo female travelers! I have lived on and off the road for 20 years either in an older minivan or car with frugal budget, limited support network, and understanding/use of technology. Solo adventures can be extremely rewarding and also extremely challenging at times to manage and stay healthy and together! I work and live in the BV/Salida valley at the moment with high cost of living/rent if no built out rig, especially for service industry workers who keep the towns going. Its work for us all!:) Ty again for recognizing solo women and the inspiration to keep going and expanding road set up and community and showing a healthy perspective! Safe, fun, and happy travels!! Really enjoyed this, thank you. Lunar is so sweet and I can tell how much you love her, very nice! Just be aware as I'm sure you are, that when Lunar is outside a coyote, fox, or some other preditor could come out of nowhere, and it would be almost impossible to rescue her because of the speed of the preditor and the distance Lunar may be from you. I had to laugh when I saw the results of the rough road. Same happened to the gear in my trailer this weekend. Every roll of paper towels and toilet paper had unrolled!

Just an FYI... keep Luna close when outside. Birds of prey can come out of nowhere... fast. Love your videos.
I always stay close and keep an eye out for bird of prey and coyotes. She doesn't go outside too close to dusk either

Just turned my Ford ranger into a micro rv for weekend trips since I must work Monday through Friday (some Saturdays) in town.
My table doubles as staging area for pizza deliveries accessed through my flip up window in the driver's side of the shell.

Sorry to say but...don't you worry about a raptor swooping down on free range Luna, or a coyote grabbing her? I live in an urban area and we've had coyotes take small dogs. Loved the white socks and sandals look in that chair near the end!
I'm with her the entire time she is outside I follow her and I have my eyes out. When she is on the leash you can tell that she's not enjoying herself. We feel that giving her some freedom is a better way for her to live. However, I always am looking for signs of both predators and she does not go outside if I'm not feeling comfortable in any way.

Re the pans and cooking.......
TEFAL to a range called Ingenio in the UK.
They are non stick and all stack inside one another and the handles click on and off
We use them in our campervan as space is limited.
We've also bought a couple of frying pans.
Their steamer design isn't too good but lucky for us a old steamer pan fitted perfectly onto the medium Ingenio pan.
Love your set up.

Buena Vista!? We and Everlanders were just up at Twin Lakes last weekend! For a trip idea: Vancouver Island, BC. There are many, many miles of Forest Service roads and beaches, forest, and river camp spots...all boon-docking and town is always close at hand. Could probably spend a month there.
We were up there like a year and a half ago. Vancouver Island is amazing! And how did we not know you all were so close?! Did you all ride out that weird snow storm too?

But if your lucky enough to have that I think spending time alone is overrated.😉 At least you've got a new perspective, and you did make a good point at the end that your not really alone because you've got Luna😸

Thanks for sharing reflections on traveling alone. Also, good intel on moving around in the camper space with the top down. My wife and I expect delivery of a Hawk slide-in soon and we wondered how well someone could navigate inside while not having to raise the roof.
We've spent a few nights with the top down no problem!
i remember when earthroamers werent so ridiculously expensive. i had plans of getting a shortbed single cab one. about 19 ft long and easy to park without worrying about a poptop. and tons of water storage. now they only offer half a million dollar 30 ft long ones.
I find you courageous. As a woman, i might be a bit afraid but then again. Really enjoyed this shared day. 🤗

I, use to have a large fluffy cat, he was a stray and started to live with me. He got old and died, it was years ago, but Luna reminds me of him.

I am currently getting ready to travel solo, currently living in London UK, but heading west from Toronto to Seattle in my truck ( to collect my camper shell, I bought last year on Craigslist) and put it on the back of my truck and then start exploring the North America. I also hate that they pronounce Buena Vista weird, too. I know exactly where you were parked, because we camped there a few years back and did some sport climbing on some of the big rocks nearby. I also rafted that river once. Plus there are some great hikes there, too, I particularly loved Brown's Falls!

This was so fun! My cat and I went camping together for about a week in New Mexico. It was really peaceful to be alone with her. But it’s definitely a lot more work to camp solo haha. I’m proud of you for keeping at it!
Also... I use a tripod and the canon app to take photos of myself 😜 📸 it feels silly but I wanted to be in the pictures! Lol

I would like to know from you Mak & Owen your opinion on all that you both have talked about in the Pros and Cons of Four Wheel Campers. What's the best option for me to purchase a flatbed 3/4 Ton diesel truck and purchase a Four wheel camper for the truck bed or purchase a 170-wheel base diesel 350 dual-wheel Van? You both have experience traveling in these types of vehicles.

Have you guys considered installing some cheap surround camera that go out 40feet ..that way you know whats going on around you when you are inside the camper...there are cheap $120 one for the purpose

It is a really thick waterproof material, then on the inside we have a thermal pack that keeps the temp moderated. We have yet to find conditions that this camper doesn't do well in

Hi, great video. I tried to fill out the survey of where to travel but it asks for a trip host and I don't have that type of info. Now I'm wondering how anyone has that info... Sorry, a little confused. So I had to close out of the survey since it wouldn't let me leave that part blank.
After seeing your set up and how nice that camper is. I really regret buying my new slide in. Love the lower centre of gravity and features. How hard is it to remove the camper from the tray? Or do you think that it's just better having a dedicated truck to leave the camper on?
It's just four bolts actually. For us we will never take it off because we don't even carry the legs. We also build our suspension out to hold the weight all the time. I don't think it's necessary to have a dedicated truck, it's just how we went about building ours out.
@@BoundForNowhere thank you for the reply. I paid a lot for this slide in and I could have got one like yours for the same. Minus the tray. The side entrance is nice and the back dinette is perfect. You have more storage than I do and my slide in has all the cupboards up top! Lol. Well, there is always trade in value I guess. Keep up the amazing videos
