Thanks for this vid, Mack. Kismet timing. Literally FOUR days from closing (selling) on our house and property. The Fuso has been packed, edited, repacked, edited one more time, and is now ready for full-time nomadding. This video was both a checklist, but more an (emotional too strong a word) nice reflection over the past 5 years (when this process began). We faced all our excuses, overcame the fears. Huge growth even before the road.

That comment gave me the chills. I know where you are (mentally and emotionally) and i know where you've been. It was a long road but it's all about to pay off. Massive congratulations! I'm so proud of you guys!

Such good advice! Especially about the mail! That has been one of my biggest questions.
We are about 3 years out for full time living, and planning has included any surgeries needed.
I've had my septum repaired and fixed some bad foot issues too. Still recovering actually.
This will give me optimum use of my capabilities and increase enjoyment of life on the road. I've found myself emotionally invested in "things", because I bought them, with my earned money and know I wont recuperate near what was spent. I am slowly getting over this silliness.
Big tip on setting the date, even if years out. I will do that! I love goals!!
    Happy trails Mak!

I’ve been looking into van life since 2010 when I first started hiking. I thought it’d be nice to have a comfy rig to not rush from home to trail head and back home. I’ve always been fond of sleeping in my hatchback or my two door Explorer when road tripping.
Currently I can retire and live in my Outback Without altering the car (keep it simple). Unfortunately I can’t until my mom is gone. She needs my time and care in her old age. She’s my priority now.
When I am free, I don’t want to live in car full time. Ideally I’d be 3 months on the road and back to my place for 3 months. I also plan to live overseas for 3 to 6 months a year. Not having to worry about a converted van and have my own home base would suit me best after researching and contemplating van life for 10 years.

Hey! As always interesting and great video as my wife and I are getting close to getting on the road. I had hoped to meet up with you guys at overland expo west...however that didn't happen. So I'll ask a couple of questions now. I think the Tundra max payload is about 1630 lbs. The Hawk camper I thought was roughly 1500 lbs. Are you guys running pretty close to your maximum weight? I realize the shedding the pickup bed bought you back some weight. Just trying to understand as Tundra is in my consideration. Thanks !

We had Main Line address this issue since they are the experts on such things and they completely overhauled our entire suspension system to heavier duty components to be sure that we were raising our GWR to be more than what we need with the camper, flatbed, and our belongings. That truck drives like it has no idea the camper is back there

I think the biggest thing to think about, and there are many “big things”, is money. I’m a nurse so I can travel. I can make money literally anywhere, therefore, the traveling life in a camper is for me. So ask yourself: what money do have to live on/can live on? Also think about the length of travel when it comes to money. Right now I could travel for 2 years and not work a day. Are you in that position? If not, work on it! Travel without the need to work but the option to work. Just my current two cents. :)
