2008 Honda Accord Coupe V6 Manual - Raw Review

- My Buddy Matt let me borrow his 2008 (not 2010 like I said on camera...) Honda Accord coupe. This car is optioned with the v6 engine and a manual transmission. I'm truly stunned by how good of an enthusiast package this sporty family sedan actually is! Thanks for watching!

I have owned 3 V6 coupes. My newest is a Touring, so no manual, but I have all the safety features. They get into Vtech at 5200 rpms. Sounds like there's an intake and exhaust, which does nothing. They are 100% sleepers, the J35 is very underrated many Mustangs and a few Camaros have learned that this car is a sleeper. Runs great in the snow, due to fwd/all season tires. They have 278hp now, and run the QT in 14.2/3 as per C&D magazine. They are a blast! My 17 is staying around the 25k mark. Honda doesn't offer this combination anymore.
I own a 17 accord V6 touring. It was a lease in the beginning, but when I learned the models were 4 cylinder turbos, I decided to keep my accord. I didn’t like the 4cylinder turbo. The power is not the same in my opinion. Fun to drive. But just not for me. I’ll keep my v6. I only have 26k miles on it.
I just picked up a black '09 EX-L V6 manual, pretty much identical to this video's car, with 100k miles for $7500, and absolutely love it. I live in L.A., the freeway capital of the world, and am always being challenged when they see the V6 badge on the back of the car. Lol
Glad you are enjoying the Accord! It was definitely a memorable car, and one that few people think of as being an enthusiast car for some reason.
Definitely a great car. I have a 2012 v6 6 speed and love it! Tons of power. And the funny thing is, nobody knows. They just think its a normal Honda Accord....lol....until you blow by them. Try driving it with air off, squeeze out that extra HP. Nice Vid!!
Mike Tnuc thanks for the comment and for checking out the video! It was definitely a fun car, and its crazy how almost nobody talks about these things.
@@ShiftyIntentions They will be in the next year or so. They're coming into that 4-6k dollar range for a lot of people with about 150k miles. So 100k left on the lifespan. Type R has ginned up a lot of honda performance interest and people are finding out that they have a comparable, in power to weight, coupe out there for next to nothing. It really wouldn't be too surprising to see them becoming kinda like preludes and integras (The TLs) with aftermarket power support and clubs.
It's not a 100hp 3 cylinder. AC does absolutely nothing to the performance of these 6cyl engines. Just an fyi.
I’ve got a 2008 Honda Accord V6 coupe manual, as well. 175K. Love it. So much fun to drive! 😊
How reliable do you think or know they (Honda V6 motors) are past 130k?
I just got a 2008 EX-L manual coupe, but it’s the 2.4l 4 cylinder. 😭😅
Still a really fun car to drive! It somehow pulls harder than the 2016 BRZ I used to own. (Totaled by a drunk driver)
I look for reasons to drive it even when I have nothing to do. Lol
Probably because BRZs are really slow... I like them but every time I drive one I get surprised by how little power they have!
i have the coupe in an I4. i blacked the car out and put nice rims on it and just cruise around, this is a gorgeous car i dont need to be racing it around id rather just cruise around and have the car look sexy
Got mine finish fbo yesterday. Custom 4inch icebox intake with 6 inch velocity stack, j37 throttle body, j37 manifold, ported runners, rv6 j pipe, underdrive pulley, and 2.5 catback with vibrant resonator, and 2 varex exhaust.. have k tuner but waiting on my etune.. car is a blast very torque.
That is awesome!
Great bleeping car! I got a 2008 Accord Coupe automatic, great style and design with some power under the hood.
Awesome review!
i laughed the moment when you voice cracked & was so high pitched 😂😂 overall very helpful video my guy.
Oh yeah 🤘lol gotta love random adulthood puberty 😂😂
Got a 2011 for sale in VA, 113k miles been well taken care of.
I have a 2009 V6 6MT with 162,000 miles and it’s a ball to drive.
Any problems I’m looking to buy one and there’s a 09 v6 6spd at 160k miles
@@BayAreaMike99 It's a Honda. Any problems at those miles are way less than most brands out there.
I have a 2010 coupe ex-l v6 but with auto trans. Still amazing aaaaaaaaand i just spotted a rat in my room as im typing this fuck me
Bro run!
eat it
Omg I drive this baby automatic transmission it’s a rocket... and just wanted to modify more put after market parts you no gonna believe looks amazing sleeper car
Nice review I have a 2008 6-6 as well.. keep it up. ( your 100th subscriber) I think lol
EJ35Z3 you are the real MVP! Thanks for the Sub and for watching the video ✌️. Feels pretty cool to finally hit 100 subs! Haha
I just bought an 08 coupe vtec v6 6sp manual fully loaded real clean 120,000 miles for $1500 of a co worker. Its a blast to drive!
@@darrelldeiter8613 that's a steal 👍🏿
@@darrelldeiter8613 Why did he sell it for free almost?
The J-engine has two party tricks: VTEC and Variable Length Induction. It's the combination of both of these which is why the VTEC kicks in so hard on the V6s, that and the added displacement.
Nicely said! Thanks for watching 🤙
What added displacement?
Running on 5 hours of sleep is a good night of sleep for me lol
I have this car rn and I love it
I have this exact car, so much fun
With some magnaflow mufflers and a skunk 2 short shifter
That car addicting
Sleeper car
Facts!
Not really most people assume a coupe is fast just because of their appearance nothing about this vehicle looks like a sleeper it looks fast and it is.
I use to own this car, it’s not that fast to be honest
@@Rocafella123was it a 6spd
Getting ready to buy a 2012 V6 coupe with 95k miles this week. Thanks for helping me along with my decision lol
Glad I could help buddy! Sorry the video was kind of crap though 🙈
@@ShiftyIntentions you did just fine as far as I saw! Keep it up🙏🏼
I'm looking at a 2012 v6 manual with 90k on cargurus 😂, they're asking 9900 but I'm gonna offer 8800 cash, what's the price for yours?
@@bamudeadson that ain't a bad price at all!!! Came out at 10,3k!
@@ASMRCoop ahh okay, ya I think I'm gonna go for it, originally wanted a 16-17 v6 coupe auto for a daily but I want it to be fun and I think this is the move, something i can buy cash and since its manual I can actually mod it, I'd never put an exhaust or anything on an auto
Yeap! This V6 3.5 6 Speed Accord has gotten me a great deal of respect on the streetz. I've gotten a few Mercedes, BMW and a few other suppose to be fast cars driver very angry after beating them. I ended up selling it and got a Mercedes c300 which I'm looking to sell asap. Going right back to buying another one of these beautiful sleeper Accords. I believe the 08 to the 2010 V6 6 Speed MT Coupe with the HFP body kit is the best looking and fun to drive Honda yet.. The sound of that Vtec is priceless lol... Feel free to check mines out on my Channel... Great review Bud.
I hears only 1% of the 2008 came out 6 speed manual. Im lucky
depaz69 oh I would believe it. I don’t think the manuals sold well at all unfortunately.
@@ShiftyIntentions I bought mine in late 2007 and had to order the manual. I'm still driving it and it's a blast.
That is sick
Im looking to buy one of these and this video really helped thank you
Bastien Levesque I am glad it helped!
love the car
Bruh this guys funny🤣🤣
Is that a sleeper
hello friend I am looking for a manual transmission for honda accord 2008 3.5 your honda already comes with the manual transmission or did you adapt it
This car came with the manual trans from factory. It’s a good transmission too!
I've got a similar 2008 6-6 (chassis code CS1). Its just in good shape and not beat to shit and in red. I think the thing you missed is that the engine is rated at 268HP / 251 ft-lbs and is 3.5L. The TL with the exact same engine, but 3.7L and is rated about 310HP / 295 ft-lbs. The J35 MT Accords put down about 250-255HP at the wheels. So something doesn't add up. Either honda has the MOST efficient transmission ever. OR, and more likely, that 268HP is more like 285-290HP, which would have a transmission loss of like 12-15%. Combine that with the new Camry XFE or whatever that has a 3.5L V6 making 301HP. Everything points to this engine making a lot more power than rated in true muscle car fashion.
And don't forget the Turbo 6-6 coupe that was a pacecar for Indy. 400+ HP with a TL 6 speed.
Mark Sieg definitely a good bang for the buck car. Nice and fun daily driver that holds up well. Thanks for the comment and the sub! 🤙.
Mark zieg Good job. Your suspicion of this engine having more power than Honda disclosed is correct. Honda purposefully under-rated the power of this Accord V6 so that Acura TL customers wouldnt notice that it has the same power as the TL, and maybe hinder TL sales.
This 6-6 is faster than the sh-awd TL. Same engine
@@dandee28 It's also lighter and has a more efficient transmission although it can't use all the power. Traction will break and the diff is an open instead of LSD model.
The ideal vehicle is the 6-6 with the Acura LSD and RL brake calipers. At least to keep it "all honda power"
@@theejayzeeable I'm not entirely convinced that the J37 is exactly the same. The extra 0.2L counts for something, and more importantly the better flowing manifold and 93 octane tune help too.
Any chance you know what kind of exhaust set up your friend Matt has on his Accord? Love this sound and am trying to put the same on mine. Definitely a Magnaflow exhaust. Any resonator deletes or other pipe replacement?
I am sorry friend I don't know, and neither does he haha. I asked him and he just said it was something his father installed like 8 years ago.
I need it on mine sounds amazing
Preston Taylor I got it done a couple months ago, sounds like an absolute beast. Dude just has magnaflow 16817 with cold air intake
Damn wish I could hear it what intake did you get ? And I’m tryna get comfortable driving Manuel then I’m going to put some money into it mines just been sitting needa get to it
6:55 not to promote bad driving habits but I have taken on a few v6 mustangs in my stock 2007 Honda Accord ex-l v6 and I have a few wins lol. These Honda’s don’t play around
Dope
Lol on the description you said "family sedan"... It's.a coupe
On the video you said it as well.... A sedan has 4 doors!
Thinking of getting one of these as my first car I still got 9 months about till I’m 16 tho so I might decide not too but I’ve heard nothing but praise on these cars and it looks good so 🤷♂️
This would be a great first car. They are reliable, fuel efficient (like mid 20s) and more fun than they have any right to be. I would recommend them to anyone!
but no means am trying to promote my yt. but i have a video moving in traffic with it, 2011 accord coupe v6 6 speed. hope that'll help a little
Get one I jus bought mine 2 weeks at 17 for my first car but I got the sedan with 60kmiles and the v6 is so fast it’s really worth it with good gas mileage to.
I want one!!!!
Dooooo it!
How many miles does this car have on it now? I’m looking at a 2010 with 145k miles. Does the owner have a Instagram!
Unfortunately I don’t know. Haven’t seen the owner in a year or so.
How much is fuel conscumption in city and highway?km/l
Sorry I am not sure! I only had the car for that one morning of filming.
These cars are great. I have a 2016 coupe v6 manual debadged. Just an intake mod. Rated at 278hp and 252 ib-ft of torque.
If you check 0-60 times this car can beat newer nissan maximas, altima v6, toyota camry v6, v6 chargers and challengers.
What I noticed about this car is that once you 10/10 the gas it keeps up acceleration well over 120 mph without slowing down. It beats a lot of cars top end if you're both going hard. Not that it's legal obviously..
Kaiser Zen Dont tell me that, dude. I just picked up a black 09 V6 manual with 100k miles, and now constantly getting challenged in L.A. freeways. Lol
@@theejayzeeable I feel you on that one, I commute at 5am on the 5 South so no traffic and always being tempted for some runs lol
Did you link the article?
Yakntoro Udoumoh I actually forgot to link it, so thank you for reminding me! I put it in the description but I’ll also put it in this comment. Thanks for watching the video!

"Mexican speed limit"
Haha
Not much to not like about this car. Looks and performance etc etc...
Is this aftermarket exhaust, or stock with the hfp accord?
Nick Febres The owner said it was aftermarket, but did not know the brand. It sounded understated, but had more base to it than stock. The induction noise was star of the show while driving that car!
Sounds like and looks like what I have on my accord. My guess is it's a Magnaflow Catback, model #16817.
@@Khmer22cambo is it noticeably louder than stock? Looking into getting an exhaust for my 6-6 but nothing too crazy
@@diegoorozco5260 it is louder than stock, but not super loud. At the time I was looking for a low key exhaust just to hear the v6 a bit and this worked for me. It’s my first exhaust I’ve ever upgraded so I can’t really give you a good comparison to others, but from what I hear on the roads from other cars in general this one is the least loud. I have a takeda SRI and they both sound great together especially if you put it under load. My only complaint is that there is cabin noise which is a humming sound You’ll hear at cruising. When I research at the time I saw this had the lowest noise. It’s not terrible, if you have music on you probably won’t notice it. But over all it was a good purchase, and it looks good too, easy to polish. I’ve had it since 2015 still sounds and looks good 👌
@@Khmer22cambo that’s crazy I have the same takeda sri and it would also be my first exhaust, will most likely cop it. thanks for the insight my guy 🙏🏻
Who’s Matt2
How much did he lower this car
Titan Towing & Recovery, LLC I believe he said roughly an inch and a half front and rear.
Love my five speed k24 👍🏽👍🏽 my care is stances out though
Just got a v6 manual accord the other day. It scares the shit outta me 😅
Also its my second day driving stick
Welcome to the manual club buddy! You got a great car, and you’ll get better at driving stick with time and practice 🙂
@ShiftyIntentions thanks man, I've been watching this one video for a couple months til I found one ^.^
@@aaronryze glad the video helped! I hope the car lives up to my hype haha
@ShiftyIntentions it is my dude, I mean it's a fixer upper but shoot its got a healthy engine, new clutch , and a hfp on it. Who uses power steering anyway! 🤣
@@aaronryze 😂😂
Lotus evora 400 runs a 3.5 v6 from Toyota not Honda
Yeah my bad! I realized that when editing but just hoped nobody would notice 😂
Pretty sure the lotus evora uses a Toyota Camry engine.
Skynet yeah, I looked into it more after the fact and the Evora does indeed use the Camry engine. I didn’t think this video would get many views so I never corrected it! 😅
Am I just seeing the honda coupe have a slightly resemblance as a mustang.
Pete Blazer I kind of see it from the rear end view actually haha. I never noticed that!
@@ShiftyIntentions yes indeed . Haha
Would a 6.5tall 250pound guy fit in this,lol
From what I remember I would say yes! It’s been a while since I drove this car though. Plenty of them around, so maybe ask around and see if someone will let you sit in it!
Why did I get a automatic V6 sedan instead of one of these 🙍🏻♂️
Huge mistake
I got a sedan auto and its super fun
it has a magnaflow exhaust
I have gotten this question quite a few times and unfortunately don’t know. I even asked the owner and he isn’t sure as he purchased it with the exhaust already on it. It was all black with no easily recognizable logos on it.
It’s an hfp sold. I can’t find an hfp for sale for the life of me
Thanks for the heads up!
is this sohc or dohc....
SOHC
Review my car 😂 I got a 2009 manual jetta and only a hour away from Scott
Hey man I would! What town are you in?
Have you friend clean the car before a review just saying
This particular video was filmed very last minute. I only had a few hours that I could take the car, and I was very tired when I filmed it (had been called into work at 3am before filming when I got home). It’s really a bad video which is why I am so surprised it has the most views on my channel! I appreciate the feedback though 🤙.
!
Damn yo ears big asl🤣
Hahaha yeah I know. My left ear is actually bigger than my right ear too 😂
2011 v6 coupe
Yep!
That wasn’t traction control 😉
Tommy Price stability control?
Shifty Intentions it sounded like you hit red line and shifted late cause that’s what it sound like when I did it
Couldn’t have been redline that sounded like it was around 5 1/2 thousand RPMs when it did that, when he continues to drive down the road he revs a lot higher, had to be some sort of fuel cut issue or something
I want ☝️
And u know whats funny accord still faster civic
Right?!
Nice cara but you have no respect for It, dirty and not taken Care of.
Sorry man it isn’t my car! I only borrowed it for the morning.
Might be a good idea to be knowledgeable about the car so you don't annoyingly mumble through the car review.
Honestly man I totally agree. This video is my worst "car review" I have ever done. I can't fathom why it has so many views compared to my other videos. I had just gotten off work at 7 am and was running on no sleep. But I only had a couple hours with the car so I just had to film something. Sorry for the trash video...
@@ShiftyIntentions Your giddy-ness while accelerating spoke volumes in the review. Sometimes that gives us more info than actual info.
Great review!
