The mirror distortion is not really a problem to me. I don’t even have to look at my blind spot. I can see the car coming from behind then see the car on my mirrors and still see them in my side mirror. Then, I can see them on my side mirror and can still see the the back of the car as soon as I see the bumper of the car with the corner of my eyes. Without turning my head..
I have a 2015 accord coupe V6 and the major issue I’ve had with the car is the fact it has VCM where it turns off a bank of cylinders and creates an imbalanced engine. It causes premature wear for the front and rear hydraulic engine mounts which results is a very annoying vibration noise when VCM engages. In fact this issue can be found on any Honda with the J35Y1 (V6, 6AT) engine. In order to fix this I’ve replaced the engine mounts and install a product called a VCM Muzzler which plugs into the cars ECT1 port. Overall it’s a great car and I love driving it.
Starter died at 40,000 miles It eats through oil about every 5,000 miles And my hood is chipping some after about 3 years. Other than that, everything has been great
I have a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L. The mirrors are fine and the line is barely noticeable. Over a 130,000 miles now and the starter is working great. My car loses no oil and I check it often. The only paint chipping I have noticed is from rock dings or hail. The seats in this are very comfortable and the best I have ever had. There is a reason why Honda consistently has a higher resale value than other cars: they are built to perfection.
I have a 2014 Honda accord 2.4 eXL. With 115k miles. Other than oil changes and tire rotations I changed the front brakes twice and rotors rear pads once and put a battery in Other than oil changes and tire rotations I changed the front brakes twice and rotors rear pads once and put a battery in... And that's it no oil consumption . I do the oil changes every 5000 miles.I have some paint chips on the hood due to rocks. This car is meant absolutely amazing in bulletproof. The only thing that I had to replace was the satellite radio antenna due to water .
He might be referring to the V6s. I have a 13 V6 Auto and had to replace the starter at 30k miles. I think there is a clearance issue that was causing premature wear.
I have a 2015 accord coupe ex-l v6. awesome power, awesome mileage. Its the best car I have ever owned. Starter was replaced under warranty. Seats are hard but they are very comfortable. I can drive the thing for hours no problem. I disagree with 90% of this video.
I've owned my 2015 Honda Accord EXL V6 Coupe since new. At 33,500 I had the starter and battery replaced under warranty and 23,000 miles later everything is perfect. Excellent car with zero problems since. I currently have 56,400 miles on it and I plan on keeping it for 10 more years! I've done all the oil and filter changes, air and cabin air filters, as well as coolant flush and transmission drain and fill myself using only Honda fluid in the transmission. I've also replaced all 4 pads and rotors myself because Honda brakes don't generally last very long. Replaced all of them with Carquest Wearever Platinum pads and rotors at 45k and they have been amazing as well as flushed the brake fluid. Thats it. Tires lasted the full 55k! Replaced them with Pirelli P7 Citurado all seasons with 70k warranty. Fantastic car excellent firm but comfortable ride well built and very reliable and refined! My V6 is very smooth and sophisticated when relaxed and screams like a mini Ferrari when opened up wide at full throttle while still being buttery smooth! Love it!
I’ve had my 2014 v6 touring for 6 years so far and everything seems fine, the only recent thing I did from the last 6 months of maintenance was oil change, air filthier/ cabin filter, and the back bearings of wheels cuz it was my a loud humming sound, overall great reliable car to own
Damn bro that's awesome!! I have the same car except it's the I4 touring. I'm the second owner and currently sitting at 107,000km and no issues thus far! This is super helpful and good to know for the future. Thanks pal!
@Dylan Buell I'm looking at a 2014 4cyl sport. 42k miles. I just started researching but have read consistently about the starter issue. If you know anymore info that's not in this video please share
That so called "flaw you've mentioned in the DS mirror actually is a blind spot view angle glass and saved me from a few accidents, so if you don't mind I am keeping it the way it is. The seats are the most comfortable I've ever had and My former Mazda3 had very comfy seats. Plus these are not designed for midgets. Our 4 dr Touring is amazing with no issues. No clear coat problems, only stone-chips from highway driving. Oils is also fine, The AC compressor was replaced under warranty and works fine ever-since, so I highly recommend this car to anyone as a daily driver.
Yes, and he didn't know that or he was just trying to sell people one of his products. LOL I have an 2015 Accord since 14K to 60K and I didn't have the starter issues...not a common problems on these Accord. I do my own oil change and notice that it consume about a 1 quart or so of oil between oil changes.
Ive got a 13 exl with 280k miles. Just changed the starter. Clearcoat is flaking on rear pass door a bit. Other than that, best most reliable car Ive ever had. I love it.
I had a 2013 accord drove it for 120k. I did the starter at 90k myself only cost 70 bucks. I have a 18 gti now and have had more repairs in the first 1.5 years than the accord had in 6 years.
The older accords came with better quality parts, I had a 93 accord that I never changed the starter or alternator, just the basic brakes and stuff, now days the newer accord are put together cheap as possible, things go out so fast, your car is probably still working perfectly as of now, peace and God Bless
@@Max_Thunder Same here. My brand new 2001 at the time VW Jetta 1.8t was a very fun car but an absolute nightmare in repairs. I owned it from new until 7 years and 130k before selling it. My current vehicle is a 2015 accord v6 coupe and aside from getting the starter and battery replaced under warranty at just under 3 years, the car has been flawless. Had tge window regulator switch replaced under warranty too. But absolutely zero in out of pocket repair costs and im pushing 6 years and 65k on the car. Night and day difference between the Japanese and the Germans. NEVER AGAIN WITH VW! Also I've had zero oil consumption problems. Not even a little.
2013 accord coupe six speed manual, just love it. None of these issues. If you do city driving, the split mirror is the best. I love the split mirror. You can easily tell at a glance if someone is in your blind spot. It doesn’t burn a drop of oil between oil changes. 77000 miles…no starter needed yet. I don’t know why you would need to replace the starter two or three times, you’d think they’d fix whatever problem they had from the beginning.
I have a 2014 V6. The starter issues have been around for years. After 2 replacement starter it finally went a way. It also has a catalyst converter code issue, so be warned. .
2014 Honda Accord Sport - Currently around 185k miles Issues I've experienced: 2. Starter - replaced at 170k miles 3. Oil consumption - I check my oil every two weeks and I always carry a spare quart in my trunk to top off. Some research on RUclips suggests I should switch my oil to Castro GTX synthetic as folks have mentioned they do a better job cleaning up the carbons within the engine to reduce oil consumption. Some have also recommended switching to 0W-30 synthetic oil if your oil consumption is really bad. The only downside is you'll experience a drop in fuel economy since your engine has to work harder with a thicker oil. 4. Paint chipping - some of the paint along the back of my car along the guidelines of the rear windshield have started to chip real bad. It's not that noticeable but if you look closely, you'll see it. At this point, the car is about to be 10 years old and I don't really care anymore. 5. Seats - they're ok for short trips but for long road trips they can be an issue
I have a 2013 Accord EX-L coupe, 215000 km and the paint is still perfect. I go to carwash every other week and the clear coat still holds. My starter works perfectly and it starts unpluggued at-45°C. The seats are awesome it's the only car I ever had that doesn't give me back pains. And the mirror I really like them. Also powerfull and fun to drive. Seriously that car is awesome !!
The mirror “distortion” is for a blind spot. It’s not a blur. You need to check your eyes if you can’t see through it. Helps me. I still shoulder check
Ive had mine for 7 years and now 135k miles later all i have ever done is brakes, tires, and maintenance services. All fluids are synthetic, always runs Shell 91, i do notice the transmission fluid gets dirty pretty fast.... i did have a starter change at about 80k miles and throttlebody was replaced because the butterfly on the inside took a crap. What i dont like is the door locks i have replaced all of them atleast once and sometimes they lock sometimes they dont it does whatever it wants. Overall i love my car so much i bought my wife the 2017 we are forever Honda.
I have a 2013 Accord 4 cylinder, bought new, has 220K miles on it now. It uses maybe a quart of oil every 5K miles. Replaced the started at 165K miles, not a difficult job. The only real issues i had was the timing chain tensioner started failing at about 150K miles (quick noise on startup, no damage), and it can be replaced through a cover on the end of the block, through the wheel well. And the valve cover gasket started leaking oil at 200K miles. Paint still looks great. All the other things mentioned here, well, it doesn't match my experience. Even the seat cushion is still cushy. Great car.
Minimal issues with my 2015 LX, 78k miles. Mirror issue I never noticed.. maybe my car didn't have it. Zero challenges with the starter. Minimal oil dilution issues. Zero CVT slippage, even at steep grades. Had no problems with the CVT, and actually preferred the immediate "downshift" compared to other cars (2018+ Camry) having to hunt for the right gear when you just need to go. Averaged 36mpg per tank, 70% highway. Uncomfortable seats? Maybe his particular car with leather.. I did 6 hour drives with the cloth seats in the LX and was never uncomfortable. Really a great car. Only real issue was left rear power door lock stopped working. not a big deal since I rarely use that door. I could still manually unlock it with the button, and would just leave it locked all the time by default. Some wind noise in the rear.. overall road noise wasn't great, but I got used to it. Bluetooth always sync'd to the phone before I even got in the car. Always worked flawlessly. Backup camera was great. Tires.. while on the narrow/bubble side (205/65/R16), were at least cheap to replace.. $110 for Continental True Contact, which had better ratings than what came on the car, Pro Contact. The only main downside to the 4cyl Sedans is the cornering. Lots of body roll. However, at DriveAccord.net, you'll find forums on a simple easy 30 minute do it yourself rear sway bar upgrade that helps the understeer/body roll significantly. I never got around to doing it myself, but people are confident in it.
Still own my 13’ Accord Sedan - Sport Trim at 86,000 miles, bought in 2013. My starter did need to get replaced at 1-2 years in, was replaced for free. The stereo volume knob wasn’t working and whole unit was also replaced for free. Occasionally my back up camera wouldn’t display on screen and that too was replaced for free. Send my car to the Honda Dealership for its regular maintenance and have not had any other problems. Would highly suggest anyone looking for a used vehicle to look into the 9th Gen Accords. And wherever you might be, be safe out there!
I have a 2013 v6 6m with 200k. Oil changes, brakes , tires and timing belt are the only things I've had to replace. This thing is bulletproof! And the crease in the driver's side mirror is awesome, perhaps you should actually drive the car before you critique it lol.
The oil consumption comment is right on target on a 2014 accord. It does consumme about 1/2 a quart per oil change ( every 3 or 4 k miles in my case) what I did was that in every oil change I started using 4 quarts 20 oil and one quart 30 oil. I notice an improvement with that. I did it since the car had over 60k miles and i thiught a little bit thicker oil woulnt hurt it.
If you continue to use different weight oil other than 0-20 you will do major damage to your engine, this engine is really tight and anything thicker than what it calls for cause internal damage. And always use full synthetic oil,
I’ve a 13’ Accord Sport 6 speed. 306,xxx miles. Never had the valves adjusted, original clutch, original transmission. It’s a great car and still runs. Sadly it’s totaled due too a deer accident but I plan on rebuilding it.
I have a 2015 accord sport and the only problem I had so far was a bad starter, nothing else, no oil consumption, no paint chip, etc... but then again i only had this car for 5 years with only 56,0000 miles. Thank God. One thing that had to be replaced 2 twice was the tires, the 235/40/19 continental tires aren’t cheap, overall I love this car.
I have a 17 accord and the only thing that i did to it was replace the battery in 2021. I did research and i put the sport accord size battery! And now almost 5 years this september i do notice that oil starts getting low just a little. But if you love taking care of your car it will take care of u for 300k plus miles.
both my 90's accords i bought with just over 100k, they lasted me well over 370k just doing regular maintenance. i did do some racing with em 90% stock parts and only really had to change the water pump , thermo, brakes, tires, cap n rotor, plugs n wires, oil change n valve cover gasket. thats literally all i did with both of em and they lasted forever. i will definitely get another! older models arent as expensive as the newer models and dont have all the computer bs which is easier to diagnose in my opinion. good video tho bro but its " vehicle " lol!!
I have a used 2014 accord coupe, and the starter is definitely beginning to have issues. The car makes a horrible grinding/squeal sound every other time I start it. It only has 56k miles, so it’s a bit disappointing, but if that’s all I have to replace for the next few years I’ll still be happy
The starter fix for the v6 is u need to rotate the starter ringer gear/aka torque converter ring gear counter clockwise one bolt hole..anyone can do this within one hour by urself. I did this and only this to fix the starter grinding issue. While I was rotating the torque converter to remove the 8 12mm bolts I checked every sing tooth for damage. Mine had none. I haven't had a single bad start-up since this. The TSB from Honda says to rotate the torque converter ring gear counter clockwise one bolt and to buy a newer upgraded starter with the part number having a (A)in it. Do not use a reman or a eBay/Amazon starter that doesn't have the upgraded starter. Expect to pay $4-500 for the starter. Than there's also alot of complaints claiming that if u have a lower CCA battery like 550cca battery than this is a contributing factor to your grinding starter issue. So buy a more powerful batter. I believe these cars can handle around a 750cca battery. This is all known information put out by Honda in their TSB on how to fix the starter issue. Everyone I've known with the starter grinding issue and has followed this advice had fixed their issue. If ur starter ring gear/ Torque converter gear gets damaged it's gonna be more costly. So DO NOT WAIT to fix it. U can literally possibly fix it free just by rotating the ring gear as I did if u catch it with in a dozen grinds or so before there's damage caused..don't wait the fix is easy. Anyone that had questions just look it up. Or find me in 9th gen Honda accords on Facebook. Good look my Honda family.
My 2014 Honda Accord EX Sedan just turned 70,000 miles this week and been the best car I have ever driven! Mainly because of it's ultra smooth CVT transmission and Earthdreams Engine with plenty of power:) No starter problems, Some oil consumption (because I have a short trip to work..8 miles). I add a little bit now and then but can go over 1.5 years w/o an oil change using Mobil1 Extended 0W20. I just changed the Oil, Filter, and CVT fluid too. Yes there are paint small paint chips on the front hood from driving 38 miles to work one way for the first 3 years but that is normal wear and tear! Yes I still have the excellent original Goodyear Assurance Tires with plenty of tread left. What tires do you think I will put on it next:) Did say it was a great car? My 1994 Honda Accord EX Sedan lasted 22 years with still a $1200 trade in value.....how can you beat that?
I have a 16 Accord Touring V6 and yes the mirror is weird but other then that I love the car. Seats to me are very comfortable. Only 30k on her but so far so good. I still get compliments on how she looks. I’m gonna have her ceramic coated to protect the paint and yes I know it’s not bullet proof lol.
I bought my 2013 ex-l coupe v6 brand new.... Its still awesome...this guy must have found a unmaintained dud because ... mine stills looks and drives like new but I also take care of my stuff....I got up to 159 in this car...only once though...still surprises me that a Honda has that kind of power...
I have 2013 accord 2 door with 4 cylinder engine (125k miles). I agree about the seats. They are not bad for short trips but anything over 1 hour and I start to notice the lack of comfort. Also, my engine runs strong and passes inspection, but mine DOES consume oil and I have to top it off 2 to 3 times between oil changes. Furthermore, I did actually replace the PCV valve but it didn't help..... The mirror thing doesn't bother me at all. Hope this helps somebody.
Updated starter part number ends in A04(Most 15-17 Accords have this starter) Mirror distortion helps blind spot visibility. Use Lucas low viscosity for all 0-20 oil.. Take care of your paint.🥃
I own 2012 and a 2017 EX-L coupes with the V6. The mirror issue is very real on the 2017. Paint issues are very real on both and I've had my 2012's paint issues addressed. Oil consumption with both has been essentially zero. Great engines. The seats are great. Maybe because I'm a lot heavier, 212lbs and they fit me better.
I have a 2017 Honda Accord touring V6 with 78,256 miles. Found out today I have a rear main seal leak between the engine and the transmission which they quoted me $2347 to repair. Thank God I bought the extended warranty seven years 100,000 miles because I’d be up poops Creek. Luckily I only paid $1300 for that warranty and it just paid for itself in spades. I’m not gonna lie I’m pretty disappointed I’ve owned four Hondas never had an issue like this all had V6 motors. Dealership claims they’ve never done a rear seal on a ninth GEN Accord V6 so maybe it’s a fluke. With that said I love the car it’s amazing it’s my favorite Honda of all time. I would’ve paid it if I had to because I love the car that much. Hopefully no one else has this problem. If you do post I’d love to hear.
2014 Honda Accord EX-L V6 coupe. 86,000 miles starter grinding periodically. And noise from timming chain area. Had starter replaced and new timming belt. Running smooth. Luckily my warranty covered everything.
I've driven a Tahoe for the last 13 years. I love the seats in my 2016 Accord EX-L V6 coupe I bought recently. Stiffer but better support. The Tahoe felt like a chair in the living room. Not driven anything else that whole time except the Tahoe, it was hard getting used to this newer car.
I have a 2017 Honda Accord EX-L V6 and I have no issues that you brought up. I did have paint chips but that's because I took a road trip from Salem OR to Oneonta NY and back. Bunch of construction on I-80 so I got chips and dings from road debris. Other than that I have nothing but good things to say about my vehicle especially the gas mileage across the country. I average 41 mpg back and forth. That's great for a V6. I just had all those chips and dings taken care of.
The biggest gripe I have with my 13 exl is there is no 60/40 split rear seat. Ive needed that many times and had to have my kid sit up front for long things to fit in the trunk.
I have a 2015 honda accord EXL and only issues of this video that is true is the starter issue. I’ve replaced it because it gave me issues, then after like 3 months I started it having issues again. I might have to replace it once again or maybe they can check the cables but everything else is fine. Oil consumption is a little higher but not that crazy.
I own a 2015 Accord Sport that I bought new and problems I’ve had are a Rear Wheel Bearing going bad, and replaced the battery twice because it’s too small. Cosmetic issues is the most concern now. A lot of the clips and tabs that held on plastic pieces and bumpers are wearing out. I’ve already had my whole inner fender well covering come off on the front passenger side. After it came off, the whole shroud under the radiator started to come off but I put zip ties on it to keep it from falling completely off. Bumper pieces are wearing out and seem like they will come off in a lil more time. Overal though, the car is a great car. Reliable as it gets as long as your battery good lol.
2014 base lx-s coupe with 155k miles; Mirrors are nitpicky, I have already replaced the starter so definitely agreed there. Oil consumption isn’t an issue? Never had any of those problems reported to me. I will say the paint on the edges of my hood is flaking off and exposing the metal underneath but just barely. The seats are fantastic. It’s a ten year old accord. I’m just hoping it’ll go another ten with minimal problems and these mentioned here are all fine with me!
Don't let this video scare you. I have my 2013 Accord LX CVT and it's a great car. Good on gas and very roomy. The car did used about 1/2 to 3/4 quarts of oil between oil changes but it's no big deal...engine never experience any issue. Had the car for 4 years and the starter still working fine at 60K.
I have a 2016 EX-L V6 coupe. I currently have over 150k miles on it. Yes...I have to drive a lot! Nothing but routine maintenance on this car. I drive about 700 miles a week and am perfectly comfortable in the seat for 3 or 4 hours without stopping. I was able to work from home during the pandemic or I'd sure;y have way over 200k on it. I still runs like new. No oil consumption problems. No issues with the mirror. It even seems to make the tires last past their expected tread wear ratings lol.The only things I've had to replace other than routine maintenance items was the windshield ( flying rocks on the expressway) and the front struts and right front rim due to a massive pot hole that tried to eat my car. My biggest complaint would be the Alpine infotainment system. The stereo sounds great but the system is very slow, the Apple carplay/ Android Auto crash constantly and the display is kind of cheap looking. Other than that, this car is easily the best car I have ever owned!
What do you consider as "using oil". My 2014 uses a little less than a quart in 5000 miles. As far as the seats go, I am a larger person than you and I really like them. They are on the firm side like most Honda's but I find they are more comfortable for distance driving than some cars with softer cushioned seats. As far as clear coat goes my car is not garaged and is a daily driver with nearly a 100k on it and the paint is near perfect. No clear coat peel at all. The mirror for me is not an issue and neither is the starter. Everybody has their likes and dislikes concerning automobiles and no car is perfect but I don't agree with your review of this generation of Accord based on actual ownership and experience with this car.
+Ed Anshutz Thanks for watching! These are just the top 5 issues that owner's of this model have mentioned, but not every vehicle will have them. It sounds like you are not burning off too much oil so it's not a real issue for you, but we still recommend you check on it at least once or twice between changes!
16 Honda accord sport here..There is issues with peeling "paint" on white hondas..mirror is funky..seats ok..at 4300k in between oil changes.. my oil level goes from jus slightly above full mark..to in between the marks..oil smells like strong gas..that concerns me..so iam gonna not go by the maintance minder..and change oil 5k inerveals..i hope she last me 10 plus yrs..atleast till i pay it off😂 can i switch to a 5w 20 oil on these cars to help with burning?...ty for the video 1A
+Eric Maeder Thanks for watching! You will still want to use the oil weight that the engine calls for. These are engineered a specific way and need to have 0W 20.
I’ll one 100% agree with the seats, feels like I’m a on a bench & the only other issue would be the infotainment system is super laggy when my phone is connect its a good 3 seconds behind....
Honorable mention issue: vcm mechanism in v6 models (barring the v6 manual coupe), causing oil consumption, excessive spark plugs wear, blow-by, etc. I muzzled mine at 5800 miles when I got my 2013 Accord v6 sedan. I'm at 13,600 now, no vcm shudder, my oil looks good (I change it every 3000 miles, I'm not taking any chances), and I put in an AGM battery for faster starts, and less stress on the alternator and starter. Car isn't perfect (I agree on the seats), but I love it. I do wax the car monthly though with a clay bar and lubricant to get rid of dirt and grime. Jason
Thanks for the tips! I’m considering purchasing a 2013 Honda Accord EXL i4 Sedan here in the next week over at Carmax and it only has 41,000 miles so I can’t pass up on this vehicle!! These are easily remedied problems compared to some of the accords of the past!!
We have 2 of these cars. Both are 2013 Accord EX models. Both have been wonderful cars with some of these issues. Both have had issues, we go through batteries. Both have had the starters replaced. Other than that , these have been great cars.
2017 accord sport- 4 year ownership, I've had to replace 3 windows switches, my battery seems to die every 1-1/2 years (Florida heat I suppose) ac just now started to smell like mildew, fixed that with some cleaner, had both my DRL'S replaced under warranty. Rotors warped at 30k miles, had them and pads replaced, manufacture says fuel tank capacity is 17.2, I have yet to reach that, I can't pass 15 gallons and I average 23mpg city/345-360 on a tank. My radio has flipped upside down servers times then correcting itself after a few seconds. Other than those issues, car runs and drives fine, just wish there was more torque on the low end, you hit the pedal and it takes 2-3 seconds for the car to respond.
Just bought a 13 Accord with 75,000 Miles in very good condition. Got used to the mirror. I love the backup camera but HATE the Bluetooth for the car! It has a consistent problem with pairing phones and syncing contacts. so I use the Aux port for hands free talking.
I have a 13 EX-L and the only thing I dislike about the Bluetooth is that it takes so long to sync. But It auto syncs everything every time I start it up
As a former Honda tech I’ve never really experienced any of these sort of problems on these the main problems is the LED day time running lights always go bad and the cv axles In the rust belt have a tendency of snapping where that rubber donut on the shaft Honda has a service bulletin for these only for the cvts on both sedans and coupes
I have a 2017/ V6 sedan and I replaced the starter- and heard a screeching noise- replaced that one and still heard the noise. My mechanic took the gasket off. A week later noise is back. He said I'll probably have to get the oringal one from the the dealership for the starter. It just weird.
You should really call the engine out as being the 4cyl for the oil and starter. Hondas burn oil at 250k to 300k because they last that long and beyond. An extra half court at that mileage = who cares.
Looking for a new car right now to keep 15 /20 years honestly I’m not convinced I’ll have any better luck with a brand new car then I will buying the right older are used car.
@@ajlee6933 acutually in the case of accord, this vibration problem(stopped in D) seems to be a design issue. Re-enforcing its motor mounts will not work so well.
Majority of the time it is the starter, but definitely check the battery and it’s connections first to save money, mine went out 3 times already. Good luck
The oil consumption issue is normal unfortunately. Direct injection with low viscosity oil is what we have to deal with. I will say the cvt is one of the better ones you can get. Still has the rubber band feel but they are reliable as long as you change cvt oil every 30k. Also don't beat on the car. Premature starter failure, the location of the starter is in a spot where a lot of heat is generated as well as the elements. Honda put a heat shield there, maybe not great solution. Engines are stout no need to worry just constantly check that oil level. Also change the pcv valve or atleast check it every 2 or 3 oil changes.
How tall is this man. It not a big car but once in the driver seat with the seat all the way down it can seems big. That can create some problems. 240k miles and my clutch finally gave out, same clutch from when I bought it back in 2013. I take it as a win. Daily driver 100+ miles a day commuting to work. Best car I've had.
I've had this car since 2019 at 150000km and aside from the leather seat on the driver's side. Thankfully no paint chipping yet, but overall really love my accord. (it's a 4 cylinder for what it's worth)
I have a V6 2015 Accord Touring that I bought new. It is now Oct 2024. 126,000+ miles on the odometer. I haven't had any of the problems called out in this video.
Everything he said excempt for the mirror has happened to a 2014 honda accord. I just had the starter replaced at the dealer.I had them also replace the started relay. I was dealing with the issue that ramdomly the car wouldnt crank. It had a new battery and clean terminal cables. Anyway, the dealer put it through diagnostics and said they couldnt reproduce the problem and that everything was ok. So I had them replace the started after me watching videos like this one. It set me back $700. Ouch! Its been only one day so I cant say the problem has been fixed with the random no starting, but it looks like the priblem has been solved. By the way, I understabd Honda had a recall on the starter for the 2013 accord, but not for the 2014. So the dealer claiming ignorance on the issue of starter problems for my accord was just not believable.
Oil consumtion is a easy fix on the accord , 3 qts of 0W 20 mix with 1 qts of 5 W20. also install a catch can oil to keep PCV valve clean at all the time. problem solve on my Accord. about the mirror, i like it the way it is because extend to another line view on the highway when car drive a high speed and they swings between lines.
I have a 2013 accord 2.4 cvt lx…with 168,000 miles…my question is how much life do I have with the fuel pump?…also the cvt transmission, water pump, cats,…car is well maintained…if anyone can tell me the typical failure miles on the mentioned parts…thanks.
Bought a 2014 Accord EX-L in 2017 - Top Issues - (Canadian funds) - Starter - yes-$400 starter - $7 core, has no physical solenoid, took it apart and its a cheap solenoid built internally on the starter motor housing-its junk -back up camera stopped working - moisture got into the housing for the camera. Aftermarket ones are available at around $300. - Rear trunk trim panel falls off - Can only buy used if lost, there are two riv-nuts into plastic grommets. After seasonal hot/cold temps and corrosion, they break and off it goes. - Intermittent Blend door whine - Still trying to figure it out- there are 5 motors to check.
Everything this guy said is ridiculous!!! My 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid has 260k now with no problems at all. Same stock starter. Change oil every 10k miles and never burns oil. The mirror thing is not even noticeable that he pointed out. The paint is excellent still on my car. It still looks new inside and out
you are making your assessment based on one car. thousands of these cars have been sold and some of the problems he is bringing up have affected a number of these cars. read some forums and car repair sites and you will find the same issues with multiple cars of this generation.
I have like 200k miles same car and engine doesn’t burn a bit of oil. Only maintenance I’ve done was air filter and oil changes and tires everything on time. Haven’t touched anything and it’s never had one issue or ever broke down I’m actually going to get another one.
2013 honda accord sport had it since 19,000 miles and now its at 91,000 miles. Changed the battery, starter, both rear wheel hubs, and has a rattling sound at a cold start up. Going to do timing chain and tensioner soon. Also see alot of rust dust coming out of the ac compressor clutch and have aoil leak on the left side of engine. If i take care of the timing chain and tentioner issue ill sure get another 100,000 plus miles out of this car!

Gotta change oil every 2 & half months in my 17 sport but I do drive alot for work. And paint chips in construction area does suck
Starter died at 40,000 miles
It eats through oil about every 5,000 miles
And my hood is chipping some after about 3 years.
Literally same to all of that, lol.
The only thing that I had to replace was the satellite radio antenna due to water .
just got a 13 Ex L last week. Came from a 19 Accord LX and it’s way better
He might be referring to the V6s. I have a 13 V6 Auto and had to replace the starter at 30k miles. I think there is a clearance issue that was causing premature wear.

Any seat can be a problem depending on your height.

@Dylan Buell 4cyl is boring
The mirror distortion is made on purpose by honda because it's suppose to show your blind spot.
Right
Yep, but because they made it flat and not easily distinguishable, it makes it very hard to look at.
I’ve had mine 6 years and never thought it was a good mirror design.
Yes, and he didn't know that or he was just trying to sell people one of his products. LOL I have an 2015 Accord since 14K to 60K and I didn't have the starter issues...not a common problems on these Accord. If all I have to change is the starter for the life time of the car im good with that! 3 starter 300k miles and 20 year’s
I had a 2013 accord drove it for 120k. I did the starter at 90k myself only cost 70 bucks. I have a 18 gti now and have had more repairs in the first 1.5 years than the accord had in 6 years.
Hows car doing ? Any oil consumption?
The older accords came with better quality parts, I had a 93 accord that I never changed the starter or alternator, just the basic brakes and stuff, now days the newer accord are put together cheap as possible, things go out so fast, your car is probably still working perfectly as of now, peace and God Bless
@@Max_Thunder thats what u get for buying a german car lmao
I bought a 2017 Honda Accord brand new in 2018. I've had NO issues with the car and love it!

Nice! Just bought a used 2017 Honda Accord with 50k miles and man she runs super smooth ! Great car
I have a 2014 V6. The starter issues have been around for years. After 2 replacement starter it finally went a way. It also has a catalyst converter code issue, so be warned. .
My 2013 with 184k recently started consuming oil, my honda mechanic said to use 5w20 instead and stick to it, solved my problem!
2014 Honda Accord Sport - Currently around 185k miles
Issues I've experienced:
2. Starter - replaced at 170k miles

@@EricTheGreat508 I’ve got the 2015 V6 and no oil burning at all
I have a 2015 Honda Accord and I have no issues at all with the car. Runs beautiful.
Great car.
2016 4cyl Honda Accord, 185hp and 41mpg on the hwy.
No issues, the best car I ever bought! Will keep it for another 10yrs!
Wow thats great...i love this model

Still own my 13’ Accord Sedan - Sport Trim at 86,000 miles, bought in 2013.
My starter did need to get replaced at 1-2 years in, was replaced for free.
The stereo volume knob wasn’t working and whole unit was also replaced for free.
Occasionally my back up camera wouldn’t display on screen and that too was replaced for free.
Send my car to the Honda Dealership for its regular maintenance and have not had any other problems.
Would highly suggest anyone looking for a used vehicle to look into the 9th Gen Accords.

How did you get all those things replaced for free?

The oil consumption comment is right on target on a 2014 accord. It does consumme about 1/2 a quart per oil change ( every 3 or 4 k miles in my case) what I did was that in every oil change I started using 4 quarts 20 oil and one quart 30 oil. I notice an improvement with that. I did it since the car had over 60k miles and i thiught a little bit thicker oil woulnt hurt it.
If you continue to use different weight oil other than 0-20 you will do major damage to your engine, this engine is really tight and anything thicker than what it calls for cause internal damage. And always use full synthetic oil,
I've got a 2013 Accord Coupe EX-L with 185.000 miles and it just started lossing oil other then that no issues .. I love this car
I have none of these issues and I bought my car in 2014 still runs perfect. I love my car
I’ve had both 90,92, and now 99. To this day I would take a CB7 over any of them.
I have a used 2014 accord coupe, and the starter is definitely beginning to have issues. The car makes a horrible grinding/squeal sound every other time I start it. It only has 56k miles, so it’s a bit disappointing, but if that’s all I have to replace for the next few years I’ll still be happy
Is that noise coming from the starter or the GDI pressure?
did you check the serpentine belt?
What tires do you think I will put on it next:)

Hope this helps somebody.

better for hot whether
and no issue on oil consumption at all
Spitting facts! I do the same in Florida

I’m not gonna lie I’m pretty disappointed I’ve owned four Hondas never had an issue like this all had V6 motors.
Ive needed that many times and had to have my kid sit up front for long things to fit in the trunk.
same I had a 2008 civic coupe and just got the 2014 accord coupe - only downgrade has been the missing 60/40 split which the civic had.
+dncrra Thanks for the feedback!
I'm hearing something in the back too like back passenger wheel area
Are you from a cold and snowy climate? Really haven't heard of those cosmetic issues before.
What the hell is a virical. You mean vehicle??🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
Thank u I going to look at a Honda Accord 2013 to buy and I really needed to see this video.
+jason hunter Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
My 2017 honda accord sport never needed a new starter. It works fine and seats are comfortable
2015 accord worth it
I had mine about seven years I did change the starter once cuts that's the only problem I every had
Me too i have 2013 Honda accord EX-L that's the only Thing that i change 2 Weeks a go with 81,000 miles
But It auto syncs everything every time I start it up
Just replaced my starter @ 77,000 miles. I like the mirror.
You give just the facts and no useless chatter, so I subscribed
Did you fixed?
The mirror is a genius design that removes your blind spot so you dont need to shoulder check. It's literally the opposite of a safety hazard.
You should really call the engine out as being the 4cyl for the oil and starter. Hondas burn oil at 250k to 300k because they last that long and beyond. An extra half court at that mileage = who cares.
+Thorn 2669 Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Looking for a new car right now to keep 15 /20 years honestly I’m not convinced I’ll have any better luck with a brand new car then I will buying the right older are used car.
@bing46 Sébastien lol honda and toyota are the best... Why would I not buy a honda 🤣🤣 each brand has had their bad years...
you forgot main issue - a little vibration when break is applied in D and car is stoped. but despite of it I love my 2014 sport 4door.
Vibration in D while car is stopped could be bad motor mounts.
I had vibration when braking too. It went away when I had my brakes and rotors replaced and resurfaced. Kinda funny I bought it like that though...
Vibration when braking just might mean your rotors are worn out unevenly
Over 60k on my 2015 V6 no problems or oil consumption. I defeated my VCM since new.
+djfelon4life Thanks for the feedback!
I went with the s-vcm and so far it's working.
Seat's do suck tho.
How does your transmission feel? Mines ha ls a noticeable downshift
i have a 2013 accord coupe EXL v6 Manual 6 speed 0-20 Mobil 1. No problems that you have mentioned 140,000 miles and running strong.
I have a 2013 accord 2.4 cvt lx…with 168,000 miles…my question is how much life do I have with the fuel pump?…also the cvt transmission, water pump, cats,…car is well maintained…if anyone can tell me the typical failure miles on the mentioned parts…thanks.
My wife has a 2013 accord and her starter went out at 60k it gave us no signs at all just didn't start no noise like most starters make when going bad
Had the pressure plate / starter problem but I rotated the plate over two holes and been working fine for two moths.
I have a 2015 accord hybrid with 145k and I love it.
Bought a 2014 Accord EX-L in 2017 - Top Issues - (Canadian funds)
- Starter - yes-$400 starter - $7 core, has no physical solenoid, took it apart and its a cheap solenoid built internally on the starter motor housing-its junk
-back up camera stopped working - moisture got into the housing for the camera.
Ugh especially the v6 with their starters grinding!
Only issue I had was oil consumption, but just keep an eye on the level and just add as needed
