Yeah! That means Hyundai-Kia will surpass Toyota in USA sales. Hyundai-Kia already surpassed Stellantis and American Honda. Only GM to go, to be #1 in USA!
We stilll have our 7th gen 2004 Accord 2.4 EX 5AT with 240k miles. Took our newborn daughter home from hospital in it and drove it reliably for years. Now, she’s driving it!
They certainly don't make VW"s like they used to. Been VW,Audi for 35 years with relatively no problems. Until my Passat B5 that is. Electric windows dropping in to the doors, water leaks in to drivers side damaging ECU under the carpet. Water leak in to passenger footwell, front and rear. ABS issues. Final straw that broke the camel's back for me: seized valve bucket in the engine after 130,000 miles. Still ran okay, but on start up sounded like a tractor for 3-4 seconds. All of this on a 2.0 litre petrol, with full service history. Traded it for a Mazda 6 estate from main dealer, 7500 miles. Loving at the moment, up to 30,000 miles with no issues and easily getting at least 45 mpg at 80 mph on long motorway runs. 2 litre Skyactive petrol.
Picked up a 2016 accord new and it's been one of my favorite cars to date. My only gripe is the little LEDs in the headlights go out REGULARLY, and it's all one fixed assembly which costs $500 per headlight to replace. Go with aftermarket on those for sure.
I bought this same Gen Accord, 2017, LX. I found it in 2021. It was only 4 years old with only 8,750 miles. Owned by one owner, an older lady. Only drove an average of 2200 miles a year. Got it for $21,000. The car is so new and clean, it was a great find. I now have a whopping 30K miles on it now. Still smells new and still very clean a new. Garage kept to this very day. I own 2 other Accords. I bought a 2009 Accord LX-P Sedan just for the Manual Transmission. It has like 213K miles. My 06 Accord EX sedan has 352,750 miles. Next milestone is 400K!
Recently got a 2016 Acura TLX in January. Bought it as 108k miles. It has the same Honda 2.4L engine as this Accord. I’ve known about this engine and how durable it is for a while, but it’s great to hear Scotty talk about it and give me reassurance.
For real! I used to be a owner of a 2013 2.4 accord LX, upgraded to the 20 TLX with the same 2.4 except it has a DCT, which makes it so much fun to drive, especially with that reliable and more powerful 2.4
My brother has a 2013 Accord Touring V6 , it is a beast! automatic transmission. This is the best of this generation. No crappy CVT and incredible gas mileage. 34-36 highway
I have the 2014 V6 EX-L with 6 speed auto. Biggest sleeper on the road! That car has serious pull. If it has the VCM make sure to muzzle that. Leads to serious issues down the road.
Got one those same year base model. My son drives it more than I do. He even got in trouble speeding with it. The stories I could tell you about the kid. Can't wait till he gets his own car and I can fix what he tore up.
I have a 2015 Honda Accord coup 2.4 with a 6 speed manual. I love this car. It still dries perfectly to this day. I probably would not let this car go. Hopefully one day I'm able to upgrade And get this 189 horsepower engine to be 250.
I've got the same ( '15 manual ) coupe bought used with 17,000 mi. Only complaint is the black paint and usual Honda issues with un-garaged exposure. Seals around windows "dried" and eroding. (It's 1st 3yrs in FL heat) It's a keeper and will be painted/repaired when necessary, years to come. Traded a '11 (Silver) coupe for a "newer" low miles '17 coupe. F'd up!!!!! Didn't research enough about the CVT. Nice car, BUT....battery issues, alarm? draining. Has a history from previous owner. Haven't wrenched on cars for 25yrs due to work schedule and time, but will be servicing the CVT regularly hoping to get some mileage out of it before it craps out. NOT going to pay outrageous labor rates. Oil changes one thing. Long story short, '17 used for long trips, rack up highway miles, will be 1st to go. '15 is a "to work" car. Got a few ol' older Toyotas too. Keepers!!! As long as parts available, whenever they're necessary. Don't expect to buy anything newer than my '19 4Runner. I've got some years on me. We'll see who outlast the other. Love Scotty's content!!!!
@@GrammarHero I'm just saying how it is based on price since you clearly seemed shocked. Honda with 100k isn't much tbh. Plus for 2017 it has a better engine than a 2024 corolla.
@@GrammarHeroNissans built in Mexico with automatic transmissions are not Japanese transmissions- they are Italian transmissions ( Renault ) and are weak transmissions. A durable, reliable Nissan transmission will need a manual transmission made in Japan.
I love honda but I'm switching over to mazda, I've had nothing but problems with the brand new hondas... 2019 honda civic lx (motor mount problem) 2020 honda accord sport (oil delusion) 2023 honda crv sport (steering rack, transmission, hybrid battery)
I have a 2014 Honda accord lx 2.4l with 196k miles on it change the oil every time the maintenance light comes on it did all of the usual maintenance to maintain it. It still drives real nice.
I had a '92 Accord LX, upgraded to a '92 Acura Vigor, and also owned a 2013 Crosstour, which was basically a hatchback Accord. All great, reliable, fun-to-drive vehicles. Absolutely no complaints on any of them...except...the seats in the Crosstour were ROCK HARD. Other than that, I loved 'em all.
My wife and I recently made a 600 mile road trip in our 2020 Accord 1.5T and we received over 41MPG on the trip. We are conservative drivers and have no issues with the CVT trans. I have never heard the turbo "spool up". Does it actually "spool up"?? Love the car!
I still have my 2013 accord 2.4 that i got when i graduated high school. I just use it as a secondary car now but it has almost 250k miles. The only thing ive had to get done other than maintenance and replacing general wear parts was a head gasket and the electric power steering that was replaced under the extended warranty that honda put out on it. It still drives like new. No play in the steering no weird knocks or sounds. Its pretty incredible. I paid over $100k for an escalade in 2022 and ended up trading it in for an mdx when the engine had to be replaced with only 10k miles which sucked because it was my dream car. Apparently they've fixed the issue but i dont know if its luxurious enough to win me back.
Road test an Accord as well as a Civic (2007 to 2017) for at least an hour. For a decade the number one consumer complaint was extremely uncomfortable front seats.
Totaled my 2013 Accord last December. It was a 4 cyl, manual transmission, touring model with 193k km. I wanted another one but figured I’m out of luck. Bought a 2016 Accord the other day. It’s a 4 cyl, manual trans, touring model with 36k km. It’s even the same color.
2013 4-cylinder Touring? I have a 2013 V6 Touring and I think the Touring only came with a V6. I bought it new and it has served me well so far. I had to replace the oil filter housing and the ABS module. Nothing else wrong so far with 157K miles.
@smokestack29 both my 2013 and 2016 are 4 cyl touring models. I’m Canadian so maybe there was a difference in what’s offered? I have timing chains in both cars and I’ve heard the V6 has a timing belt. Both my cars are badged with touring. Honest, I know what I have.
I have an 01 accord 2.3L v4 5 speed that I've driven every day for 20 years, cross country twice, up mountains in the NW, through flooded swamp roads in central florida....no major problems ever. Best 11k I ever spent.
We bought 2016 pilot brand new. It had perfect maintenance. At 94,000 miles, it started knocking a rod. It just so happens there was faulty bearings used in some cars that year but not ours according to Honda. We now drive a Toyota.
I had a 2016 Honda Civic Si with the Earth Dreams turbo engine, owned it for 2 years and got rid of it. I thought it would be a different version of the V-Tec but I was wrong.
THis is the really great looking Accord. The latest one is just a stupid piece of junk as far as looks are concerned - and the sales figures says it all - outsold by the Civic!
I got a 24 hrv. CVT is fine and thank God I'm 70 or I'd want a gear transmission. So far I like it. It has enough power to lug up steep hills. it's fine.
I'm on my third Accord. I've owned a 2007 6spd, a 2014 Touring and now drive a 2020 EX-L. All are great cars. The 2014 gave me problems with the starter and the guage cluster died at 101k miles. Other than that, I've had no issues with these vehicles.
The back up camera is probably just broken. I have a 2014 that had the same issue where the side camera worked but the back up camera died and I just replaced it myself (super easy to do, just search it on YT and there are tutorials). It cost a whopping $100 to fix!
I personally own this exact same model and have driven a 2.5L Camry. I do like the CVT better because it does not gear hunt like the 8 speed automatic Camry does.
btw, as for best seller status, the Accord outsold the Camry most years - retail. Because Camrys were sold to fleets and the Accord was not. And to this day the Accord has better resale value.
@@donniev8181 wrong. there was a prob for the turbo charged ones for a short time, now they're fine the regular 1.5s are among the best 4 cyl engines ever made Hyundai makes unreliable engines
@stanmarcusgtv wrong fanboy, I suggest you check out the class action lawsuits going on right now for the oil dilution issues in the 1.5L! I've owned 2 different Honda Accords and both had the bulletproof K24 engine! The 2018 and newer Hondas have that crappy 1.5L "earth dreams" engine. It's so bad that Honda actually started to remove the "earth dreams" badge from the engines because people were threatening lawsuits.
@stanmarcusgtv again, do some research before making ridiculous statements. There would not be multi-million dollar oil dilution lawsuits. Scotty actually spoke about this in a previous video, it all started with the 2018 earth dreams engine.
I just got a 2019 Toyota Camry with the 2.5 liter engine with only 22000 miles. I decided to get this one instead of a 2024. Did I make the better choice?
I have the 2016 Accord EX-L in white with 2.4l 4 cylinder as well. I don’t mind the CVT but would prefer an automatic. I noticed this one had lane departure which mine does not but no big deal. Great car, bought mine last year with 134k miles for $12k because it has a couple small scratches on the front and now I have 143k on it. Great car in and out!
Scotty we purchased a new Honda Accord back in 2014 and we love it. The car has done a little over 80K kilometres and is like new. We own an old Mercedes Benz that does the shopping run to town etc but for longer trips use the Honda Accord.
I truly believe that the 1.5 liter 191HP turbo is the greatest base engine ever made. I’m getting 32.6 Mpg and have 52k in a ‘21. I’ve had many sedans over the years and the combination of power and economy in this price range is unmatched.
I had two accords with the 2 L and 10 speed AT drivetrain. No turbo problems whatsoever, fabulous performance, CARandDRIVER puts 0 to 60 at 5.4 seconds if that is your kind of thing. Great mileage delight to drive, and yes, those fantastic engines are turbo charged. The 1.5 turbo problems Scotty keeps referring to are from older models. Prior to my current CRV sport touring hybrid, I’ve had seven high-end Accords, and they have all been bulletproof from the old wonderful V6 to the now-eliminated 2 L turbo.
The older Accords are superior automobiles. Those late 90's early/ 2000's models were amazing cars. Ive heard the late 80's and 90's models were as good or better, too.
Have a 2015 Honda Accord 2.4ltr with 250k miles. There is a minor leak near the transmission. Not sure how long it will run. For the time being it's still good.
I didn't like CVT until I owned one. They are actually really cool. For traffic it's nice not banging gears to move 200ft. On freeway you can be doing 85 at 1,500 rpm haha so fast cruiser. It's the future for sure. Only negative if you even want to call it a negative the cvt is slower adjusting at cold temperatures. Once warmed up it runs even snappier. The heat must expand the belt or something
I bought this same car. 2017 Honda Accord LX. 70,000 miles. Paying 15,500 with interest ends up being about 19k. It’s a smooth car and gets great gas mileage. The CVT is different because it doesn’t shift like a normal automatic. But it has plenty of power. It’s a big sedan too. This thing will last me a lifetime.
I've been a Honda fan for many years and still to this day driving a 2017 Honda Accord V6 Touring as my daily driver and loving it! My first Honda was a first generation, 1981 Accord. Back then Honda was just becoming more popular in the U.S., due to the smaller engines with good fuel economy. My first generation Accord was not the same as Hondas of later generations. Back in those days Honda was still working out all the kinks in their vehicles and they had issues with very hard and clunky gear shifts in the automatics and were known for blowing head gaskets prematurely. My Accord blew two head gaskets within one year, I still loved the car but at that point I had to get rid of it. I'm not sure why some folks, "to include Scotty Kilmer", are down on the CVT transmission. I just bought a 2013 2.4L, Accord LX with CVT transmission for my son as his first vehicle, for safety and reliability. When I test drove the vehicle I was pleasantly surprised at the smooth acceleration. I truly believe that 99% of people would not be able to tell the difference between a standard transmission and a CVT during a blind test drive. In my opinion the 2013 Accord with CVT is another great Honda vehicle that with good maintenance should last several hundred thousand miles!👍🏼
I have 2017 Honda accord sport with manual transmission. did a trip to Vegas that was around 450 miles one way and the average was around 35 mi per gallon while the AC was on almost all the time. too bad we couldn't get the V6 in manual sedan
Noticed that the oil life indicator was down to 15%. In my opinion, for the sake of engine longevity, should never let the the oil life get below 40%. Over the years, we've owned five Hondas. Our most recent is a 2016 EX-L V6 that we purchased new... now eight years old and still runs like a champ. Thanks again, Scotty for another great review
@@charmingmander331Nobody actually knows the true condition of their oil unless you’re getting an oil analysis every time. I personally would never exceed 5,000 miles, and lean more towards 4,000 mile intervals.
That's my model Honda, 2.4 liter 2017, but a Sport, last year an air intake was installed, i don't drive long distances only when necessary, but it runs wonderfully. It's a quick car when i need it to be, i love it. It's my 3rd Honda, but i agree don't buy turbo
I own three Accords, and all of them are great cars. A 2007 3.0 V6, a 2013 Sport with a 2.4 6 speed manual, and a 2014 EX-L with a 3.5 V6 and a non CVT automatic. Low maintenance costs.
In my 10th gen civic si the psi starts at -10 psi unless you stomp the petal ,it will not engage boost untill you push the petal more till it does engage boost. It's all about how you drive these new turbocharged civic's that you will see they are very reliable but it's up to the owner how they drive them to deem the longevity.
Still have my 2016 Honda Accord sport 2.4L with a cvt still runs great with 103k miles. Only problem that happened was the battery died and the reverse camera stopped working. Other than that these cars are great
I had a 2017 2.5l accord with a 6 speed manual. Nice enough vehicle, but I had concerns with the complexity of the gdi system, carbon buildup that would require walnut shell blasting to clean the backs of the valves , and the excessive pressure of the gdi limiting the longevity of the engine. So, I traded it on a 2022 hr v that is port injected, is key operated, has awd, provides much more cargo room, sits higher, and gets better mpg. I may have made a mistake, but " so far so good" !!
They make plenty of manual transmissions but the American market doesn't seem to buy them. Here in UK probably more manuals than automatics for sale. I drive a manual Honda. Don't mind the CVT but the gearbox oil is supposed to be changed every 2 years and since I buy used I don't trust previous owners or garages to actually have done it.
I owned a 2001 Acura CL (a glorified Accord) and had nothing but problems with it. The paint started pitting after 1,000 miles and dealer and Acura America said I was scrubbing it with a brillo pad. At 50,000 miles the transmission went out. I worked with two other people that owned this same car and their transmission also went out. The car also had a leak in the trunk. I've never had a more terrible car than the Accord/Acura by Honda.
I’m not sure what this guy is talking about referring to the Toyota cvt transmission. I just traded my 23 Corolla for a 24 civic ex and the Honda cvt is so much better. There’s no way anyone who wants to feel acceleration should buy a Toyota. That physical first gear is horribly slow and leaves a weird gap with low responsiveness until 3rd gear kicks in. The civic accelerates much smoother and quicker.
Isn’t it nice when Scotty happens to get a car just like yours and tests it out? My 2014 Accord is exactly like the car in this video except mine has an ignition key. Bought it two years ago for $10,000, only 55,000 miles. Older couple previous owner must not have ever run it hard, car was choked with carbon. Being a somewhat OCD engineer/car guy, I eliminated the carbon, car runs strong & regularly gets 34.7 mpg highway 25.7 in town. I prefer 6 spd std or 6 spd auto but my CVT does the job ok. If you find a good Accord like mine, buy it!!
I know certain years like 97-2000 civic and accord autos went out around 120-130k miles and 2002/2003 accords were highest complained about with break downs. Honda actually had to pay out to customers that bought certain years with premature auto trans. Or replace them. Unfortunately the warranty ends after 120k but they usually failed just shortly after that Now not saying all were cuz my aunt who lives in Virginia Beach VA has a 03 accord 4cyl and has 265k miles but she also doesn’t have a heavy foot!
I have a Honda fit with a CVT. I get 45 mpg. I drive 100 miles per day. Gas in California went up to 5 to 6 dollars a gallon. I'll keep the Honda with the CVT.
i own a 2013 4 cyl had it for many years now it has 190k miles no issues at all. only reason want to sell its high milage car . but looking at newer ones i hate turbo engines i love the design of honda crv 2024 but i hate its turbo engine problem with oil dilution
I have a 2014 accord. Ironic thing, the only thing I've had break on it is the parking brake cables. Driver side cable seized up at 50k miles. (I bought it at 45k miles). Took 2 years to find a replacement. I still have replacements on order from honda, but happened to find one at a junk yard. I like a mechanical parking brake, just make sure the cables stay clean.
I just got a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L a few months ago and I've been loving it ever since. I changed out the infotainment center with an Android headunit and I finally feel like I'm driving a modern car, even if it's over a decade old :).
What head unit is it ? Have been trying to find one that fits perfectly and doesn’t stick out at all. I currently have a 2017 Accord Sport SE and I also got a bad deal if you want to call it that. I’m still paying it off currently but I got mine for 27k with 53k miles on it
@@miguelvillanueva6542 I added a Dasaita headunit, which works for our year model. I personally like it so far and functions very well, in spite of being "Chinese junk" lol. Name brand units are unnecessarily expensive for limited features, so I went with an Android based unit.

I just got a 2013 Manual Accord last week with 103k kms (62k miles) and I’ve never been so happy in this vehicle since I had my first one. Hoping it would go 500k miles, I’m 47 and this might be the last car I’ll buy for myself!
i live in germany, owning a 2018 fit made in japan. It has some small rustspots. only where no salt water will get to. never experienced that with other cars, except a faulty generation of Mercedes. i am not convinced about quality rust proofing.
I had the same code in my 1998 Land Cruiser. You probably need to have the ignition coil for that cylinder replaced. Should be a relatively inexpensive job. I'm surprised that would be an issue for a 2018 Honda. They don't make them like they used to.
Bought a 2006 Honda CR-V SE with 91k miles for $3K. Well maintained. Wondering how long it will last and any known issues. Is it better than my 2005 3.0 Mercury Mariner with 145K miles?

I own 2 other Accords. I bought a 2009 Accord LX-P Sedan just for the Manual Transmission. It has like 213K miles. My 06 Accord EX sedan has 352,750 miles. Next milestone is 400K!
The 2.4 is an excellent engine. I have one in my 2004 Element with 231,000 miles
I miss my Element with a 5M so much!!!
I wish they still sold the Element!
Recently got a 2016 Acura TLX in January. Bought it as 108k miles. It has the same Honda 2.4L engine as this Accord. I’ve known about this engine and how durable it is for a while, but it’s great to hear Scotty talk about it and give me reassurance.
It's a fancy Honda Civic! 🙂
For real! I used to be a owner of a 2013 2.4 accord LX, upgraded to the 20 TLX with the same 2.4 except it has a DCT, which makes it so much fun to drive, especially with that reliable and more powerful 2.4

A well taken care of Honda will last forever, I had one with almost 400k miles, ran perfectly until I traded it in
I've got the same ( '15 manual ) coupe bought used with 17,000 mi.
Only complaint is the black paint and usual Honda issues with un-garaged exposure. Seals around windows "dried" and eroding. (It's 1st 3yrs in FL heat)
It's a keeper and will be painted/repaired when necessary, years to come.

I like Uncle Scotty so honest and straightforward and very on point.
How long should you keep putting money in to a car. I have 2005 accord with 397,000 miles.
I also ordered my 2013 new. Ordered it near the end of Oct/12 and got it a couple of days before Christmas.

We bought 2016 pilot brand new. It had perfect maintenance. At 94,000 miles, it started knocking a rod. It just so happens there was faulty bearings used in some cars that year but not ours according to Honda. We now drive a Toyota.
Ouch
Honda makes good small cars, I’d say CRVs are the biggest id go with Honda but that’s just me.

Me too. I've only had problems with the starter and valve cover leaking.

I truly believe that the 1.5 liter 191HP turbo is the greatest base engine ever made. I’m getting 32.6 Mpg and have 52k in a ‘21. I’ve had many sedans over the years and the combination of power and economy in this price range is unmatched.
Yeah I got the Accord ex 2019 turbo 29kmiles hope it last with regular oil change
My 96 honda has 360k on the clock. Replaced the engine for a bigger one. The old motor was still running fine only burning some oil.
Agreed, Honda and Toyota CVTs are really reliable. Just change the transmission fluid every 50k miles and it should last the life of the car.

- My backup camera didn’t work either on test drive. I told them to replace it and I’ll buy it. They replaced it immediately! 😂👍🏼
I let mine go to zero and I had the car 13 years until someone totaled it.

You wanna sell that K24 with the 6M? I'd pay top dollar! 🙂

I truly admire it when Scotty indicates, the manual transmission can go forever.
I have a 13 accord with cvt and i hate the way it accelerates which it all got bad after the 1st cvt fluid change at 120k miles
I know certain years like 97-2000 civic and accord autos went out around 120-130k miles and 2002/2003 accords were highest complained about with break downs.
Honda actually had to pay out to customers that bought certain years with premature auto trans. Or replace them. Unfortunately the warranty ends after 120k but they usually failed just shortly after that

If you want to blow the doors off of the toyota camry get a diesel honda civic with 5 speed manual transmission. Up to 72mpg
Bought a 2006 Honda CR-V SE with 91k miles for $3K. Well maintained. Wondering how long it will last and any known issues. Is it better than my 2005 3.0 Mercury Mariner with 145K miles?
