- 2023 Honda Accord vs 2023 Honda Civic review by The Straight Pipes. The 2023 Honda Accord is putting down 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque and the 2023 Civic is putting down 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque from the same 1.5L Turbo 4 Cylinder. At $37,000 CAD($29,060 USD) for the Accord and $33,350 CAD($29,060 USD) for the Civic, would you take the Top Trim Civic or Lowest Trim Accord?

How about camry vs accord vs mazda 6 lowest trim
I raise the point again, black headliner would make both interiors more luxurious!! @thestraightpipes
Disappointed in the accord the cvt kills it dead and the missing 2.0 engine grunt kept it relevant.
I love that you still do normal car reviews and not just Supercars.
Always
Hey can you guys review a Jeep Cherokee limited??? Would love to hear your review on it. Thanks!
@@ObeyLuThey already reviewed the newer Grand Cherokee Overland last year. I would love to see them review the Grand Cherokee again, but as a 2 row Trailhawk version.
the Accord is a super car in the daily drive segment !
@@TheStraightPipes Common lemme hold you, touch you, feel you always! Kiss you, taste you all night, always!
If that Accord could talk I feel like it was just constantly mutter 'I didn't ask to be born'
😂🤣
Quite literally. "They took my heart out and put back a fruit blender..."
The Accord redesign is pretty bland, but losing the great 2.0T engine option is a tragedy. For me that alone drops the car out of contention
I think it would say wtf is wrong with Honda for making me somehow worse than the Civic, coupe versions gone and I have a pathetic 4 cylinder. -It probably wonders why the Camry gets all the luck at Toyota 😂
what 😭😭😭😭
So glad someone finally did this head to head.
The Taurus, I mean Accord, seems to have been neutered down to fulltime commuter status. Gone are the days of V6s and 2.0Ts, 6MTs and 10ATs, coupes, etc: it's now all about comfort and mpgs. It makes sense; those things sell the most. Just a shame that most of what made the variety in the Accord lineup fun to drive is now gone. Between the two, especially with the nearly equal price, the choice would be a Civic.
Yeah it’s a bummer. My mom has one of the 2.0t accords and it’s just fantastic. It builds boost quick and feels faster than I expected it to.
Im on the hunt for a v6 accord. Whether a 90's or 9th gen, I wanna get one
The Civic had the most uncomfortable seats I've seen for a 31k MSRP car. The entry level Elantra had better seats. I got a HB ST and ended up trading it in. Definitely not a commuter, unless your commute is 45 minutes or less max.
Them 2002 accord coupes looking might nice for $2,000
the 2.0t/10spd take rate was less than 10 percent, not worth to keep making that setup
As a Taurus owner, I must say I love the look of the Accord. Makes me feel like my 2012 is brand new again 🥳
😂😂😂
Not only does the new accord have a flat design but all their cars are starting to look the same interior wise. I get if people don't really care since design is less important than practicality for most but come on that's lame.
@@ashupashu5559I think the new accord looks like an Audi
The Civic Touring is overall the better package I think, unless you really need the extra space in the Accord. But for 95% of people I think the Civic has sufficient space.
As a taller person, I had to go with the accord.
You're right. For buyers who actually carry rear seat passengers.👍
At dealerships they almost cost the same now
Needed the extra space as a 6’3 230lb guy tbh
I’m about 5’11 270. The only thing I really need is solid leg space up front.
I didn’t expect the new accord to be so ugly after last gen and after what the civic looks like. The civic looks so good.
The new accord looks better imo
I muuuch prefer the clean styling of the new accord, I don't like the weird nose of the new civic and the previous insect looking accord.
Both look like crap. Ugly boring ass sedans
@@futurepaver2039 10th gen accord looks way better. This thing looks like the Civic.
That Accord's face is so boring to look at
I haven’t even watched this vid yet as it’s just came out but crikey that accord looks like a bored accountant
And the civic is that same accountant when he first started, not yet disillusioned with life.
Seriously. The Accord is like a modern reinterpretation of the most boring sedans from the 90s. How did this design ever get green lit?
@@jasonswitzer1748 I love it
I think it looks sleek and clean … but yea no the drivetrain is definitely the equivalent of a bored accountant
You had me at crikey
1:02 The intense drama that plays out in this first roll race is just breathtakingly captivating 💯💥
Love this video. I have been debating on which to choose and this made it alot easier.
2022 Civic Sport Hatchback here. The base sound system really is decent. Averaging ~35.5 MPG over 16.2k miles.
Not bad for a liftback. Could use some work though
Only thing the civic has going for it, is how it drives lol. Everything else is boring lacking the emotion that Honda use to have.
Don’t know why people bash the new Accord design. I was sold on the Civic until I went to the Honda dealer and actually seen the two next to each other in person. The accord caught my eye and I ended up with a 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid in Urban Gray Pearl. Couldn’t be any happier with my decision! Love my new Accord!
We did say it looks better in colours and higher trims
I feel like with the civic being bigger now, and Honda making the accord worse in this gen, they've basically signalled they want to kill the accord. Which is tragic because the Accord has always been a great sedan.
And I wonder why the accord needed to be bigger or longer than the last one, the last one was big enough. It could even be a bit shorter, the old one
Yeah Honda has been making mistakes for a LONG time now. This is just another. I mean how tf does the Accord not even try to compete with the Toyota Camry TRD. 😢
@@TheBasher-_- yup and with the Camry about to get a major upgrade here any day now I feel the Accord will be relegated to the history books.
@pt93music The way Honda wants it. I've heard they've already discontinued the Accord in several Markets. Hyundai and Kia are just way to superior for The Japanese markets to keep up, Honda Nissan Subaru are the past. Toyota will probably have success for another few years then the same.
@@TheBasher-_- bro, you had me until the Hyundai comment. As a former service advisor for Hyundai… they do not make good cars. Unless your mark of “good” is premature worn out engines, engine fires and constant electrical issues. 😂
I must be the oddball. The Accord looks far better to me. Also, factor in insurance cost and the price difference between equal trim levels evens out as the Accord is much cheaper to insure.
Not the oddball, I also think the accord looks far better.
I thought the accord looked better also until I went shopping for an accord and ended up leaving with a civic haha. Both are nice
As someone who just got the accord I was surprised that my cost went up 75 bucks from a 2022 Mazda cx-5 turbo.
This review made me realize I MISS THE BOX TEST. You guys should bring it back, especially for any vehicle with a hatch back.
Can you do a top-of-the-line Accord vs comparably priced Integra? And focus on which one “feels” more quality/special/expensive? Love you guys!!!
PERFECT!! Just the review I’ve been waiting for.
👍👍
The neutering of the Accord makes sense when you look at how Honda is making an Acura push. When the Accord got the 2.0t there was pretty much no point to pay the premium for the Acura TLX. Now Honda has some leverage to upsell people into a TLX if they want the power.
Makes sense!
Accord is all about fuel economy now
No thanks. I'm just going to buy a used 2.0t Accord.
Well they're also doing what most companies are, they're shifting away from sedans for SUVs. The Accord sells less so they'll start lowering stuff about it or make it more premium to set it apart. Or they'll do what Mazda did and soon remove the midsize from markets. Acura is the same, the demand for sedans just unfortunately is just not around anymore
U look at this from a consumer mindset. They did this because nobody buys sedans now. stupid economy and high prices. Everyone wants an ugly ass suv... Sedans are better
Man I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on my sonic gray 22' 2.0t sport last year...I was going to wait it out for the 23'
I loved the last gen accord.... this one, not so much.
Large, underpowered and boring car
front end looks like shhhhhit
its a blend in car now. All they need is generic colors like beige/champagne, primer gray, depression black, and typical white. Oh, and maybe a special edition corporate meeting navy.
@@njnikusha people don't need power🤡🤡🤡
The 9th gen accord was the last good looking one
I had paddles in my 1.5T accord and I loved it when hauling around backroads. It wasn’t perfect, but it gave me a sense of control. I had an aftermarket intake on my accord and I loved shifting after revving out to a “high RPM” and hearing the fake blow off valve sound.
Don’t all 1.5T’s have a CVT?
Hate to break it to you but that accord had a CVT there aren't any real physical gears to shift with that transmission its all simulated shifting, so you never had real control of the car.
Man the older accord, looks so much better than the new one - much more premium materials on the interior too
That's not true. The ride is better in the new one.
@@pointsur67 lol both Motortrend and Consumer reports also agrees with me. So stop making stuff up.
id say the same thing with the civic
@isssk4167 I don't give a damn what Motor Trend and Consumer Reports agreed with. I have one in Platinum White, sitting in my garage for almost a year now. I think that I'm in a better position than you to judge both of these generations.
@@pointsur67 Love how you just make stuff up without any information to back it up, your observations are wrong and all the reviews say the opposite of what you say. Oh yeah btw I own both so turns out your not a good judge on this.
last gen accord was way better and new civic is nicer than previous gen
Fun episode. Points for the clip to past time Jakub not loving paddle shifters in a CVT 😁
Thank you soooo much for reviewing regular consumer cars. You've motivated vehicle purchases for many people who genuinely care about these fine details in cars like Civics.
From the American Perspective, the Accord might look underwhelming from the front, but undeniably it looks elegant and more mature from the European/Universal aspect. I am booking the Hybrid E-xl soon.
Thanks again for the fabulous review.
Top trim of the Civic all day. Too bad Honda won't give the Touring sedan a manual anymore (I don't care for the hatchback).
Great video guys. Gotta say, the accord looks so much meaner and cooler and stealthy almost. Love the more modern looking lights. Also I am curious what you guys think about the wireless vs wired apple car play in more depth. Seems to be a lot of controversy between the two options. It seems like many reviewers are split on this.
Just bought a new red Civic for my daughter on Monday. We had a 90 mile trip home from the dealer and it was surprisingly great.
Bought a morning mist 2023 Honda civic in the touring trim for my first brand new car at the beginning of April. Been loving it. Just sporty enough to have fun and comfortable enough to drive 7 hours perfectly fine. Another thing that sold me on the civic was the amount of aftermarket parts. Can’t wait to get into that
you need ways and reasons to blow money or why looking for Civic parts?
How does the morning mist color look in person? Is it like a baby blue color? Or is it more silver looking?
What I like about the current Civic is that the size is almost midsize. Perfect for those who find midsize cara too big. The Accord, on the other hand, is too big. I wouldnt feel comfortable driving such a big car around tight places.
I'm gonna go with the civic, getting a '24 sport sedan (cdn spec) in Aegean blue metallic. I'm just waiting on my guy at the dealership to get back to me about ordering one. Super stoked! 🤙🏻
I still find it crazy that your basic entry-level car can cost 30k. No wonder everyone is doing 8 year car loans or going into debt
Why I went Jetta this time around $20k starting, manual option, 50mpg, but we shall see reliability
True man. I just bought a Civic hatchback last night and I really had to shave the numbers down. Prices are getting higher man no doubt
@@jvcarter21 what year did you get ?
@@bman2k4 Got the 2023 brand new. Boost Blue color. nice as hell.
@@FATmenDRIVEtrucks get rid of it by 70k miles
Here's my problem with the $30k Civic: the Jetta GLI is also $30k and includes heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, dual zone automatic climate control, better handling, a DSG transmission and the 2.0T ea888 gen3, which is an incredible engine. At least the Accord can brag about being bigger...
Great video ! Would love a comparison between civic and integra and accord vs tlx to see if it's worth. I believe you already made a video like this with the older models
I have a white 2017 Honda Accord EX-L V6. I ABOLUTELY LOVE that car. It looks great and has everything I need. The only thing I hate about it is the fixed seat headrest, which is no small thing. It's so uncomfortable. The new Accord doesn't look as good, but I just hope they fixed the seat head rest.
Great review! 😊👍🏼
It’s a little ridiculous that you can get ventilated seats in regular cars from the Korean and American brands, while Honda just shrugs at you.
This is so true. I was obsessed with the 9th gen civic when it came out nearly a decade ago, and now that the 10th gen has come out lookin sweet and updated, it's STILL behind in so many amenities. I couldn't get a 10th gen because of the silly markups, so I ended up with a 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT (a hatchback). It has leather interior, heated seats AND a huge panoramic sun roof. The 2023 Civic can't even top that as a 4 year newer vehicle 😆I unknowingly ended up with a superior product AND got it for 16k used.
Andddddddd no lumbar support in civic (not too sure about accord).
...i mean there are luxury marques that charge u twice as much as these hondas, and don't give u cooled seats or a heated steering wheel standard... i get it's not a competition, and they're all equally behind the curve, but... at least there aren't memes of japanese cars being stolen supidly easy, or catching fire...
Well, they have to give you something extra to make you overlook their poor reliability. People buy more with their eyes than their brains these days.
I think it's a North American Honda thing. Other Hondas sold internationally have some features that we don't get. I guess Honda is trying to get us to buy Acuras
I was looking for a 23 civic sport touring recently, and the dealer kept asking if I was interested in the accord. Seems like they were having a hard time getting rid of them.
I have the covic 2022 and i absolutely love that car, there’s a lot of space looks are fire
The one feature on the accord I couldn't stand was the door handles. My hand recoiled when I first grabbed them. They feel like painted square 2x2s
Pure contact tires are sooooo good. Not as sporty as the dws but it handles way better in the rain and snow.
The Accord looks way better in person, in my opinion.
We live in Virginia and just purchased a 2024 Civic Touring very similar in look to what you drove. But here there is no heated steering wheel. Our has Goodyear Eagle Sport M+S 235 40R 18s. I use to sell Honda’s & Toyota’s so I know the game. We got out the door for $30K with rear spoiler. I have installed ceramic tint and plan on adding HPD kit and upgrading the cat-back exhaust just for better mellow sound. We are old and don’t really drive fast like we use to. We really liked your comparison review and it was very informative and helpful. I was looking at the Corolla but the Civic crushes it in looks and overall performance. Not felling them hybrids yet. So we jump on this one which may be the last of the 100% ICE Civics. This car is a great value in today’s market and no other compact sedan can touch this one. I do wish it wasn’t a CVT but it is good for our driving habits. They had a Type R in the show room and had it marked up to $67K. Wifey didn’t want that and she was happy with the features and cost of the civic. This is here replacement for her 2000 Avalon XLS which was dying a slow death. Damn she actually cried when we signed over the title. 😢😅
Thank you for fulfilling my requests, I may rest in peace...also quick question, which one is quieter on the inside
This is the type of comparison video i'm all for. We actually did compare the Civic Touring to the Camry LE Hybrid - in Canada it's almost the same price (~35k including PDI).
I'm not mad at that because at least your getting a slightly larger and hybrid car with the Camry Hybrid
The accord steering wheel material is straight out of the 90's. Has me missing my 96 civic. Pretty much the only thing i prefer from the Accord. I bought the 2023 civic hatch Sport Touring and now I want that steering wheel lol.
The 96’ Civic was perfect. Loved it much better than my 16’ and 19’ Civics.
I have a 23 civic sport in rallye red, and I love how it looks. With a little spoiler and some tints, and maybe an exhaust replacement down the road, I have high hopes for this beauty. And the way it drives is sensational for an entry level vehicle.
How much are spoilers for a 23 civic? Like cheapest? How much was yours
I want to put the si spoiler on mine. Same color as you too
Do some of the accords still come with cooling seats ? Not sure if it was in just the states but a friend has the top trim accord last gen and they have them in their car. Also if you guys can pass along to tuxMat, last gen explorer mats pleasee !!! Went to go look at a set for Father’s Day and they start at 2020, dad has a 2018 🥲
Top trim Civic all day.
I've had base model Accords, Maximas, etc.
Stripped down cars are not fun to drive in, especially when you see cars that are classes below yours that has far more features.
Owning both i would say the Accord looks better. The new Accord looks more buff and mature.
I am a manual sport car person but this top trim cvt Civic is a very good daily that offers some premium features. However if I want a sedan daily I may just go for the sedan Mazda 3
You can just buy premium leather seat covers for the accord for $500. And there are so many minute differences that at the end of the day, the utility of the larger accord wins out for me. Civic can keep the wireless charger, steering wheel warmer and rear heated seats.
I have a previous gen Accord and in my opinion it looks better than new one. Especially before latest face-lift and redesign of tail lights. I'm going to keep my beautiful Accord for a long time. It looks and drives like a brand new car.
The older accord looks significantly better
I just drove both hybrid versions of these 2 cars a few days ago and I opted for the Toyota Camry. The Accord had better tech, was much more nimble and handled better, but it was a bit cramped and noisy when compared to the Camry. Both cars are great and it was not an easy choice.
How u can say the accord was cramped compared to camry is moronic. Think u need eyes checked
I have a 2023 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring and I love it. It's also my first Honda. If they made an Accord hatchback I might go there for my next car.
I got the civic touring 23, saw new accord today and trust me civic looks way better in person
Previous V6 coupe owner...best daily Ive ever owned. Since Honda killed the V6 and now the 2.0T, and unfortunately no coupes to choose from...theyre not even a consideration anymore. Sad
Try the accord hybrid... you will love it
The best Accord costs 800 bucks...Exactly what my 92 cost a few years ago. 250k miles and a perfect car...
Could you guys make a video about auto-pilot / highway assisted driving?

The Civic because its enough for a small family and is more fun to drive!
I just realised that the lower grill on the ACCORD is as if Honda pushed the CIVIC grille down on the bumper..
I have the urban grey sport L by far the best looking because of the contrast
paddle shifters are great for stopping quicker ( downshift + brake) instead of slamming on the brakes only and two hands on wheel.
Much cheaper to replace brake pads and rotors than a transmission
I think comparing the new integra with the accord would be an interesting comparison
A comparison of cabin noise would have been useful
Great review. Definitely a fleet car and uber car. Basic, reliable. (Accord) civic is more suited for a new driver its cheap, reliable and overall a good car.
I like this civic, and accord.. and the white accord looks badass with tinted windows and the platinum white pearl color. I'd only go for the highest trim of either, and the accord cost too much. If I'm going to spend that amount on a civic, I'd rather get a elantra hybrid and get 50+mpg and more/better features and better warranty.
My Giulia came with TuxMats they are awesome. Look great and are very durable. No sign of wear so far in almost a year. Highly recommend instead of oem mats, just save the oem mats for when you sell car later on.
I don’t understand why these are two different cars at this point.
Compact and mid size?
You will if you drive them both.
@@stevehoppenjan I don’t have enough arms and legs to do that.
We have the '22 Accord EX-L and the '18 Civic Sport Touring HB. I love the HB for cargo capacity, but it's a night and day difference in right quality - the Accord wins hands down. And the noise level - Accord is much quieter than the HB, naturally; but not a single rattle in the Accord while the Civic has pretty much had dash and B-pillar rattles since about 4k miles. I will replace the Civic with an Accord when it's time.
I’m a small person (4’11”), single, with no kids. So I need a small car. I bought the 2023 Honda Civic Touring in January and am SO happy with it! It’s a beautiful car: meteorite metallic gray (with subtle sparkle) with a two-tone black/gray (ivory) interior. Honda has gone back to their design roots with the understated, polished exterior. The interior is semi-luxury now. It’s just an understated but beautiful car with the Honda reliability. It looks so classy. I love it!

I finally saw an Accord on the road, I was thought it like as exciting vanilla ice cream! The Accord has become an couch on wheels! . I would get the Civic and the loaded model either!!!!
I hate that they got rid of the 2.0t... let alone the disgusting redesign
So go Acura TLX for the potent motor. Thats probably why they did it that way. Hopefully they'll listen and bring it back. Honda's been pretty good at listening to feedback and following through.
Honda is in survival mode. Investors spoke out and Honda had to listen. Customers only care about MPG and tech.
Too late, nerds. I just bought a Civic Hatchback 12 hours ago 😎😜

@thestraightpipes what's that opening song!? It's dope!

Love the Civic but wish it had tail lights more similar to the Accord
Yeah, the tail lights of those 2 cars should be swapped. But I am ok with the Civic's, it's not bad, just not as sporty look as the Accord's one.
That Accord looks similar to the one I had back in 2002 crazy, Civic is a clear winner when it comes to looks
You guys should do ILX vs Integra
Geez, put a bell or a post-it note on one of them. Can’t tell them apart
I loved Accords, had 2 before. But I am sorry to say that Honda completely missed the boat with the new generation Accord. While they tamed the designs, almost too much, especially the front, the Accord has completely lost its technical identity. The previous version lost the V6, but at least it offered a powerful 2.0 turbo with a manual. But now you get nothing, no manual, no power. I am not really sure what happened to Honda on this one. Just a glaring miss.
I have a 2018 accord with manual. The promblem is no one bought them in Manuel except 3 percent I think .
You would think with declining sedans sells, they would’ve designed it somewhat aggressively!🤦🏾♂️
The new one is really nice inside and out in person, almost gives off a7 vibes. It's just not sporty anymore.

I saw the new accord in my rear view yesterday. I thought it was a polestar from a distance.
I Bought the 2023 Accord back in May. I was not too keen on the looks, but I bought one anyway. To say that I am pleased with the car has been an understatement. I did not get the Civic because EVERYBODY drives a Civic. I never would have imagined years ago that I would be driving an Accord to be DIFFERENT. The roominess of the Accord was the alternative to getting an SUV. As for the CVT, you don't get it until you go on a long drive. Drove from Northern California to Las Vegas, and the CVT really did its thing. I immediately installed lighted LED door sill panels, mudguards, and rear factory spoiler. Later, I added tint windows. From this video, you can't see the platinum white paint in its true glory (The paint color is a $600 cost). In the sunlight, it has a pearlescent reflection that makes the car appear more expensive than it really is. I drove it to Monterey Car Week back in August. The entire week, I only saw ONE 2023 Accord (In Gray). I got several compliments while down there. Some people didn't know that it was an Accord. They were actually looking, trying to figure it out. Even if they did not like it, they did appreciate the fact that it didn't look like every other car being driven.
I actually like the white with black on the civic, some blacked out rims would make it look great
Idk if western region have this trim but in the east the RS trim have black accesories with black rims
The Civic the Accord and the camera will on my list for a new car. However, I sold a 2016 Civic because it did not have lumbar, and hurt my back on long trips. Of the three cars I think the Civic looks best, but because it does not have lumbar, I have eliminated it. I also think the new Accord looks better than the Camry. But it's three thousand more to get the equivalent hybrid in the Accord than in the Camry. So I'm going to be buying a Camry.
